FYI, since you were involved in this AFD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Suspect (2013 film). Jujutacular (talk) 19:21, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
- Good job, Jujutacular. All we needed was some coverage. Now that the film has been released, we can now let this topic grow over time and through regular editing. Encourage they that requested the undeletion to add sources and build the article. Thanks, Schmidt, Michael Q. 20:09, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
A proposal you might be interested in
Hey Schmidt, I've proposed something at WP:NFILM that will likely get shot down but really should get some serious consideration. I've launched an AfD for Nightmare Circus (film) (if you want to work your magic on it, please do) and one editor has argued for a keep based upon repeated releases on home media throughout the years. This isn't currently part of the notability criteria... but it really should be, in some form or fashion. I've opened up a discussion here and basically I'm arguing that if a movie has received repeated home media re-releases over the years through reputable distribution companies, that should count towards notability. I'm not arguing for complete notability that would have the film get kept on the re-release alone, but I am arguing for it to count towards notability along the same lines as say, a film review through DVD Verdict or an in-depth article through a similar RS. I mean, if a film keeps getting released then that does show that it has some lasting power and that someone out there thinks it's certainly notable- right? - In other words, we may try to make incubation a more common and known subject. a) many voters don't know about this option, some admins prefer deletion over incubation, b) incubated article titles may be salted, or there may be some notice that the article was incubated, please start from there, etc. --Tito☸Dutta 15:22, 27 February 2014 (UTC)
- The incubator is being closed down. See Wikipedia:Article Incubator/RfC to close down Incubator. I was the only one defending its existence and it became weight of numbers. Hopefully they will create a delsort so I do not have to search through thousands of WP:DRAFTS to find the few savable ones sent there from AFD. Incubator was not a place for new drafts. New-drafts space is not a place for articles with history. :( 15:32, 27 February 2014 (UTC)Schmidt, Michael Q.

Fair point, and now that I know this I'd put his byline in brackets when citing him. In this particular case we didn't really need any citing at all for the fact Ramis appeared in or directed a specific movie since he's publicly credited on them. --Tenebrae (talk) 20:47, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Film title question for O Leão de Sete Cabeças
I'm not sure what the article'a title should be. O Leão de Sete Cabeças is one title and Der Leone Have Sept Cabeças is the other. Only ref in the article is IMDb and it lists the 2nd. Re-check The Hooping Life?
I found some additional sources for The Hooping Life, and I think there's enough to keep here. I'm unsure since I traditionally like to have a ridiculous amount of sourcing, but there are enough articles to where I think it'd pass notability guidelines. Rustlers, The Rustlers
I made a search for lobby or window art of this title. I visited some of my usual watering-holes like Worthpoint for past auctions. Yes, there is a ton of Hoot Gibson material but I haven't run into the title you requested. There seems to be a discrepancy with this title as Gibson and the exact same cast is listed under a title called "The Rustlers" directed by Reginald Barker. The John Ford film / and or version is called "Rustlers" (working title: Even Money). The thing is did the two directors make exactly the same film with the same people? if so this will be a first I've ever seen of this type of filmmaking in the silent era even amongst 2-reelers. Or is this a mistake somewhere that nobody seems to have detected? Still looking for lobby posters etc. Koplimek (talk) 22:00, 25 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi Michael. Happy birthday! Would you take a look at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2014 April 13#OpEdNews when you get the chance? I am contacting you because you have a userspace draft of OpEdNews at User:MichaelQSchmidt/workspace/OEN. Would you work on the userspace draft User:Robkall/OpEdNews with Robkall (talk · contribs), who founded OpEdNews? User:Robkall/OpEdNews requires significant work to conform to the neutrality and verifiability policies, time which I am unable to provide at the moment. Thank you! Cunard (talk) 09:22, 20 April 2014 (UTC)
- Michael, it looks like irongargoyle hid the opednews page that you resurrected [opednews deletion review] and said "deletion endorsed". I'm confused. What's going on? thanks Robkall (talk) 14:31, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- to Robkall: The full statement signed by irongargoyle at deletion review is "Deletion endorsed. I will be happy to userfy this article for any experienced editor without a conflict of interest who wishes to put together a draft." I did not resurrect the page, but like yourself, have a version in userspace. Study WP:PRIMER#Important cautions If it gets expanded with independent reliable sources speaking toward the OEN website AND in a neutral and non-promotional and encyclopedic manner, a new and improved version of the article might yet be article space. Schmidt, Michael Q. 16:44, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I totally understand that I can't create or post an article about my site. That was never my intention. Others had advised that I add information that would add to the claim to notability and that's what I was attempting to do. I was asking for a review and reconsideration and a number of wikipedians did help, including you, in particular. Several said they were willing to help and I read that to mean that they'd help get it "a return and hist merge" which I took to mean getting the page back up live in article space. Is there anything I can do to help, or even to track the progress? After digging a bit more, I think that irongargoyle took down the delete discussion because it was a week old. Is that correct? But was irongargoyle also advocating keeping it deleted? Last, can you give me any counsel on how to, within wikipedia's ethical guidelines, continue to advocate for getting the page returned and hist merged? thanks again. PS. If I'm doing anything that is not appropriate or out of format for wikipedia, I would appreciate being informed. I'm trying to do things the right wayRobkall (talk) 19:38, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- to Robkall: Irongargoyle closed the deletion review after a suitable time had passed. And AFD discussions are removed from "active" status once the resolution is decided. However, the information is still there: AfD#1 closed as "no consensus", 1st DRV (click "show" at far right, AfD#2 closed as "delete", 2nd DRV (click "show" at far right). Irongargoyle was just an admin performing admin duties. He read the discussion and, in thinking the article had possibilities, agreed that he'd userfy it to whomever wishes to work away-from-mainspace. Even with your WP:COI you may certainly continue work on sourcing and neutralizing the tone of the version resting at User:Robkall/OpEdNews by sharing ideas and sources on the article's talk page. Openly invite editors to work with you and/or offer their input and advice. If and or when it is considered by others to be worth a return to article space, THAT can be accomplished very easily by one of those others who do not have your COI. I would also suggest that on User talk:Robkall/OpEdNews, you include a note declaring your COI and explaining how you actively seek the input of more experienced Wikipedians in making the article ready. And please study WP:PRIMER and the editing tutorials at the bottom of that page. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:12, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
Well, Michael, I know I've already thanked you, but frankly, your help here has been superb and one thing I'm going to learn is how to post awards, because you've been awesome. I'm prepping for an interview I'm doing tomorrow morning, for my radio show, with the president of the psychopathic research society, and then I fly, tomorrow early evening, so I really won't be able to jump on this and review the WP:PRIMER page until Wednesday. But I'll declare the COI on my UserTalk page and ask for help. thanks one more time.Robkall (talk) 21:49, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Rustlers; lobby poster update
Hi Michael. I didn't forget your request about finding a lobby poster for this film. I didn't come up with anything, just for a like titled film starring Tim Holt. Perhaps as I'm sure many inquiries have now been made about the 1919 silent film a tag somewhere will probably be noticed. That's what I've observed with other films that initially I could find no lobby art work or newspaper image and then waited it out for a time before running into something. For instance that's exactly what I think happened with the lost Lon Chaney The Next Corner(1924), now I've found a great lobby poster from an Australian website where obviously the film played down under. So I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything lobby, window card or other illustration for Rustlers. All My Best. Koplimek (talk) 18:23, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Harlan Thompson
I was going to start an article on Harlan Thompson and saw you had begun one at User:MichaelQSchmidt/Harlan Thompson. I don't think there is a lot of in-depth material on him as a person, but there are plenty of sources that mention his work, and quite a lot of other articles that could link to him. Mr. Schneider Goes to Washington
Agreed, re: the Variety article; the film seems now to pass, barely. Regarding the New Orleans Film Society website, do they only list movies they screen? Nothing about the film's listing there gave any date/indication it was screened, which is why I discounted it for satisfying WP:NFILM. PaintedCarpet (talk) 00:26, 6 June 2014 (UTC)
- To PaintedCarpet: While different festival websites may list what they screen in different manners, they rarely have any reason to list films that they do not screen. But better, its screening was independently confirmed by The Times-Picayune on Friday October 12 2007 in their "Best Bets" article. Scroll down the page to Sunday October 14 and under "THE DAY'S BEST BET - PRYTANIA" you'll find its screening announced as "5 p.m. - The documentary "Mr. Schneider Goes to Washington." 1 hour 20 minutes." - Well... as the article is about the fan club, and not the leagues it follows, it falls under WP:ORG. It can have sourced mentions elsewhere, but it lacks enough multiple sources speaking about it to merit a separate article at this time. Schmidt, Michael Q. 07:29, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

Copyvio link or not?
I removed Global Eugenics: Using Medicine to Kill as it links to the video which is a compilation of YouTube videos, thus copyvio. I see someone has also added [3]. What's your take on this? I guess I could ask Moonriddengirl. Dougweller (talk) 20:17, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- Doug, simple links are not copyvios by Wikipedia editors. Global Eugenics: Using Medicine to Kill is simply a EL link to IMDB ,and acceptable as an EL in a film article even if not as a source. This is link to the thing being public domain. As long as do not copy text or information without proper attribution, we have no copyvio. But neither show notability. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:45, 18 June 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not convinced. The video itself is a mass of copyvio from 45 seconds in, so in linking to it we are linking to copyvio. I think perhaps you misunderstood what I was getting at. Dougweller (talk) 11:05, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
- Well Doug... but we are not linking directly to the video and we are the one's posting nor hosting the video. We are, under WP:ELYES and WP:ELMAYBE sharing an external link to the film's listing at the Internet Movie Database. That other link is to a page specifically declaring itself as public domain. The actual video itself on YouTube is not within our purview. We here are not the internet police to handle claims of wrongdoing elsewhere. YouTube has a set of rules and quite regularly pulls videos and blocks accounts that upload material in violation of copyright laws. All any one of the purported copyright holders need do is complain and the video posted there and it will be removed and the uploader(s) blocked. So we need not ourselves worry over videos hosted elsewhere. If media or copyright holders had come forward over the last 4 or 5 years, to assert it as supposition or fraud or blatant copyright violation, then it might have a thin chance to survive as a documented hoax ala Piltdown man, Pacific Northwest tree octopus, or Microsoft hoax. But as none have done so, the article about that film has no hope of surviving the deletion discussion. Schmidt, Michael Q. 14:12, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

- It's the archive one that worries me most - Moonriddengirl agrees the IMBD one is ok. It isn't a YouTube video so YouTube's can't do anything about it. But yes, the archive one, that could be an issue. I looked a bit more at the video - full of clips from news broadcasts. The credits at the end mention CNN, etc (and Obama), but I really doubt that any of them gave permission - why would they? Thanks for removing that link. I must remember to !Vote at the Rahul Productions AfD - I noticed that as List of Indian film production houses is on my watchlist. Dougweller (talk) 15:36, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Selma (film) infobox
A question for you: I've done some work on this article. Well, two questions.
- The film is currently shooting. An editor has inserted two release dates; one for limited and one for wide. Is this helpful prior to actual releases? And the same was done in the article text.
- In working on lists in the infobox, I placed the production companies involved after each producer name, listing in the order given in the Paramount press release (which also seems to be in chronological order of involvement.) I added information after each distributor (3: one for US rights, one for UK, and one for the rest of the world.) This information has been removed.
Could you please take a look and give me a short explanation, one way or another? - Neonorange (talk) 03:10, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- For infobox, read Template:Infobox film. In it we put the date of first public screening. For body of article, read MOS:FILM. I visited and did some minor tweaks. Well done. Schmidt, Michael Q. 05:20, 21 June 2014 (UTC)

Thoughts on draft
Hey, what are your thoughts on Draft:I Saw the Light (film)? Is it WP:TOOSOON? Or could I publish it now? LADY LOTUS • TALK 17:07, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
- Lady Lotus: No... don't publish. It is too soon. Because filming has not begun, and as nicely sourced as it is, for now the topic fails WP:NFF (paragraph 3) for a separate article. That said however, policy suggests it could certainly be spoken of within the article on Marc Abraham and mentioned in that of Tom Hiddleston. Schmidt, Michael Q. 07:43, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

I'm kind of torn on Draft:Found Footage 3D. Part of me wants to move it to the mainspace since footage has wrapped, but part of me thinks it's still a little early. What do you think? I just wish that we had one other place other than the Austin Chronicle covering the film wrapping up, as that'd make me feel more solid about this. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 10:04, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
- To Tokyogirl79: Ready enough. Its production has coverage in multiple sources and filming has been confirmed as completed. Help?
Hey, my turn to ask you for help! I came across the article for Tamika Miller last night, as it was up for WP:A7. She has enough notability to go past an A7 for sure, but I'm still looking for sourcing. It's slow going so far, but I figure that you might be able to find some stuff as well. I did some cleaning, as the article was a repost of Miller's website, but it's a little frustrating because I keep feeling like there should be more out there than what there is. Hi. Hope you're well. Thanks for your contribution at the AfD. I've withdrawn the nom and notified the article creator of the additional sources you've found so that they can improve the article. It seems I didn't do due diligence on this nomination. One thing I ask is that you assume good faith in future discussions as you appeared overly defensive, if I was aware of these non-English sources, there would be no question of me nominating it. Again thanks for spending your time in finding sources to improve the article. Cowlibob (talk) 08:08, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Wanna try finding sources?
Hey Schmidt- would you like to try to see if you can find any additional sources for The Sleeping Room? I only found two links, so I'm tempted to just move it into my userspace and let it sit there for a while rather than dragging it through an AfD. But before I did that, I wanted to see if you could find anything. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 13:38, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Tokyogirl79: I'll look... and the fact that it was covered by Fangoria pretty much means it will be (eventually) covered by enough others to make WP:F a snap. But it was released only two weeks ago, so we would certainly not expect the sourcing that it could have were it two months or two years. At an AFD I'd be arguing that it would serve the project for this article to remain and grow over time and through regular editing... and that it could always be sent to AFD if it did not receive more coverage. Perhaps best to look for production and filming reports for John Shackleton or Movie Mogul Films or the film title with inclusion of its various notable actors. Schmidt, Michael Q. 16:55, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- That's kind of what I was thinking. I really, really don't want to take this to AfD, so there's no worry of that there. I'll just leave it on my watchlist for a while and see what it can do. I'm actually kind of surprised at the lack of coverage, as several of the horror sites usually give fairly good coverage of stuff shown at the bigger horror movie festivals. This wasn't one of the biggies, but it doesn't seem to be one of the obscure ones either. Hopefully they're just waiting for a while? Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 18:25, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Some Nepali film articles
User Khadka dipesh is publicity manager for the film Hostel Returns and has written articles about it and about its producer Sunil Rawal. (After I PRODded the film and pointed him to WP:COI, he de-PRODded it and changed his role to "Technical manager"). I dislike use of WP for publicity, and my first instinct is to AfD both - the film technically fails WP:NFF as production doesn't start till next month. What do you think about notability? The references look to me like the sort of site that will always print an interview or a gossip item based on a press release, and not the sort of in-depth coverage that would justify an article before release. If you have time, you could cast an eye on his other two articles Bijaya Subedi "Aawaj" and Govinda Bahadur Sahi as well. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 17:56, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- @JohnCD: The thing told us by WP:COI, is that while it is not strictly disallowed it is highly discouraged, and if a COI editor's topic is notable, someone will eventually write of it. Send him to WP:PRIMER#Important cautions#1, WP:BIO, WP:NF and WP:RS and instruct that he comply with WP:COI#Escape, disclosure or management. Toward his topics - Hostel Returns may meet WP:NFF after it begins shooting but it currently fails. Sunil Rawal is pushing on WP:BIO, Bijaya Subedi "Aawaj" fails WP:BIO, and Govinda Bahadur Sahi fails WP:BIO. COI or no, unless some decent Nepali-language sources come forward, I see four upcoming AFDs. Schmidt, Michael Q. 18:53, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Film project
MQS: I note that you are a coordinator for this project. Could you take a look at this AN/I thread, in which I am informed that a "consensus" at the film project can override normal Wikipedia-wide categorization procedures, and parent (and grandparent) categories can be added to articles which already have child (or grandchild) cats on them. Thus, an article which already has Category:American Western (genre) films, which is a child of Category:American films by genre, is having Category:American films added to it, even though that category is the parent of the "American films by genre". This is not the normal procedure here, although Lugnuts appears to have invented his own justification for it. Thanks, BMK (talk) 22:15, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Re your comment on Dr Blofeld's talk page, do you honestly believe that the article at the time that I tagged it had any more value than a pig's ear? Kevin McE (talk) 11:54, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
- There are hundreds of thousands of articles like that. Doesn't mean we tag them for deletion (incorrectly). We try to improve them. --NeilN talk to me 13:23, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
- @Kevin McE: AFD is not meant to be used as a bludgeon to force improvements and value, even for "poor" stubs, is found through sources being available... so that one, yes. But then, nestled among my 51,000 edits over nearly seven years, I also try to make a few weak articles a little better. Deletion is a last resort. I suggest in the future, you try to use WP:BEFORE and learn from WP:IMPERFECT, WP:PRESERVE, WP:ATD, and WP:POTENTIAL. I am not a deletionist, but have opined a delete for many articles on many topics, but only after a proper consideration that the article could not be salvaged. You're Welcome!
You're welcome. See, I found out that Jessica Lynch was in a movie by chance. I felt in was my duty to allow others know that fact. By the way, the haters were so mean...even my sergeant called her a dumb bitch. Lynch was just a kid who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Also, she didn't do anything wrong...the media did, initially. Lynch could've pretended that those myths were true, but she told the truth and that took courage. AfD nominators
Michael, I noticed that in the past few AfD discussions that we've both participated at that were clear keeps, you have wanted the nominator to reappear and withdraw the nomination. May I suggest not pushing so hard in this regard? The topics will remain intact, in large part thanks to your due diligence, and I think that editors vary in their attitude toward retraction (e.g., being embarrassed). I think it would be better to ask more simply (pinging the editor) if the nomination could be withdrawn based on the evidence and to leave it at that, even if there is no answer. We should assume good faith that the lesson has been learned until we see otherwise. Hope that you will take that into consideration! Starlog 1980-something
Hi, MichaelQSchmidt. In this edit to the Barret Oliver article, you added 1997 as the year of the "Call Him D.A.R.Y.L." article but using this website, which has photos of the article, it can be seen that the year is 1980-something. The scans are too blurry to read well but 1997 is clearly a typo. The movie was released in 1985 so the year is probably 1985 or 1986. Do you have a copy of this magazine to see what it really is? I restored the redirect on the film. Could you give me your opinion on it? I'd like to make sure I'm doing things correctly when it comes to reverting any of Rusted's edits. Bgwhite (talk) 06:22, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Bgwhite: If he reverts the redirect, seek WP:THIRD... take the question of failure of WP:NFF to Project Film, to see if a consensus can be reached that, even with filming not yet beginning, it might be a possible exception due to its extensive and persistent coverage... but don't battle over it. Schmidt, Michael Q. 16:18, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you Michael. I always see you as a THIRD when it comes to films because you will tell me what you actually think and will disagree with me. Bgwhite (talk) 22:58, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Bgwhite: Thank you for that. I do see that a valid point can be made that this topic overwhelmingly meets WP:GNG already. But as it has not begun filming, we have a failure of WP:NFF... and having it be one of the rare exceptions will require more than just my opinion. But, as policy already allows it can be discussed and sourced within several other articles, that can always be done... article or not. The redirect may not be required for more than few weeks at any rate. Schmidt, Michael Q. 03:17, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

Would you mind taking a look at DoReMi, a 1996 Filipino musical comedy currently tagged with a prod? Usually sources are not too hard to find for popular films from the Philippines, but on this one I have been coming up dry, even though this picture starred several pretty big names. I may go ahead and move this to AfD anyway, to give it better scrutiny, but I would appreciate any thoughts you might have about it. Thanks. --Arxiloxos (talk) 17:59, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Arxiloxos: To be fair... 1996 was a time of transition in the Philippines, and many Filipino and Tagalog language news article are not archived through Google. Before sending a title asserted as popular to AFD, how about asking for an assist over at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines and Talk:Cinema of the Philippines? I am very surprised that one of the Philippines most notable and prolific directors does not have an article (yet), but would be absolutely amazed if one of this man's films did not receive coverage. Schmidt, Michael Q. 19:08, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
Article deletion?
Hey Schmidt- I came across some articles a week ago where someone was claiming to be the director and requested deletion. I asked that he prove his identity, but I'm mostly sure that it's the director. I declined the speedies but put it up for AfD since there is somewhat of an issue of notability with them. I'm not adverse to the idea of keeping one article for the director and merging all of the information into that if there are some sources to show an overall notability, but I am concerned with the potential that if this is the director, that he wants his articles deleted. Can you see if you can dig anything up? I couldn't really find anything, but I know that sometimes you can find stuff that I can't and I don't want this to get deleted if there are sources out there. The article in question is Tom Oesch. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 07:04, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Page reverted
- Hello,
- I have searched in vain for the good path to get administrator’s help for the following issue and so I decided to send this request to some including you.
- I have considerably expanded the article Guerrilla filmmaking and took care in referencing it as far as I could (over 90 links to trustful sources). I am an experienced editor of Wikipedia. For my surprise, the article was reverted by user CIRT to a preceding stub version mainly consisting of a very narrow list of films. Many important contents were removed. Self promotional vandalism seems to be the reason of such intervention, sustained by acute threats.
- I do not intend to respond with helpless and inconsequent arguments and the time I have to dedicate to Wikipedia is quite limited.
- I’d be happy if you could pay some attention to this occurrence and let you decide whatever you think is reasonable.
- My best, Tertulius (User talk:Tertulius) 06,59, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Tertulius: Contact Cirt. Please review WP:RS and take another look at the sources you provided. He may well review his edit and allow you to address his concerns and add better sources one-by-one. Schmidt, Michael Q. 08:13, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
Disambiguation question
Hello Michael. I saw your name at a recent edit to the Bobita page. The thing is, she is also called Babita - not just in the one ref I put in, but in a fair number of other reliable sources (for instances in books see [5]) So someone who's reading one of the Satyajit Ray bios might search for Babita and find the actress Babita. I don't have any good ideas about how to direct readers to the right article - how to word the hatnotes. Any thoughts would be welcome. Regards, Novickas (talk) 15:04, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

List of Malayalam films of 2014
Hi,>/br>
Some IPs continuously deleting sourced information from "List of Malayalam films of 2014" article. Could you please semi-protect the page?
Anish Viswa 11:10, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
It was silly of me to bring that to AfD. I considered and rejected the idea of an IAR refusal to restore, but what I should have done was tell the author that I would restore if she insisted, but explain that it had no chance and would inevitably be deleted at AfD, and why.
There are a remarkable number of films called "Firefly"! I am reminded of P G Wodehouse's preface to Summer Lightning where he recounts that he was delighted to think of the title, but less delighted to find that "two novels with the same name have been published in England, and my agent cables to say that three have recently been placed on the market in the United States... I can only express the modest hope that this story will be considered worthy of inclusion in the list of the Hundred Best Books Called Summer Lightning." JohnCD (talk) 18:00, 7 December 2014 (UTC)
- No issue. Films are rarely speedied, and there was the smallest possibility that this person could actually prove it existed... unlikely at that would be. Schmidt, Michael Q. 18:57, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

Help?
Hey Schmidt, if you get a chance would you like to help find sources for The President's Plane is Missing? I came across it as a speedy and decided to help the editor out, but it's slow going finding sources. Apparently it was a NYT bestseller and a made-for-TV film, but I'm not finding a thing out there about the movie. It's kind of frustrating since it really does seem like there should be something- it was bestselling and had a film during an era where neither of these were particularly easy tasks (and it was by Rod Serling's brother), but I'm just hitting dead ends. I figure that you're good at finding sources, so I wanted to see if you could work your magic on the article. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 14:16, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Tokyogirl79: I think it might be best to create an article on the film, include information about the book which inspired it, and then redirect book to film. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:45, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Take a look
Hi Michael! Could you review the work of this editor and eventually give them a couple suggestions? He certainly appears to be a good faith editor, but most of his work consists in overtagging articles 1) with incomplete tags (often redundant with the stub tags that are already included in the articles, and offering the vague rationale "because the article could be expanded") 2) with unhelpful blank sections, appending to them expand section tags 3) with inappropriate notability tags (such for this horror classic starring Christopher Lee, or for well-known Ferreri's art film starring Gérard Depardieu and Ornella Muti). Let alone other plainly wrong tags, eg this expand tag in a quite long "critical reception" section. I tried to discuss with him many times, in his talk page and in articles' talk pages, last time here, and other editors as well, he never replied. I was tempted to open a topic about him at WP:AN, but given he looks in good faith maybe some guidance from a more competent editor, who is also an admin, would be helpful. My best, and happy new year! Cavarrone 19:52, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Using font tags in your signature
Hello there! I'm working on a project trying to bring most of the coding on Wikipedia up to the most current standards (HTML5), and I noticed that your signature is using <font>...</font>
tags which were deprecated in HTML 4.0 Transitional, marked as invalid in 4.0 Strict, and are not part of HTML5 at all. I'd love to help you update your signature to use newer code, and if you're interested, I suggest replacing:
<font color="blue">Schmidt, </font> <small>Michael Q.</small>
with:
<b style="color:blue">Schmidt, </b><small>Michael Q.</small>
which will result in a 130 character long signature (7 characters shorter) with an appearance of: Schmidt, Michael Q.compared to your existing 137 character long signature of: Schmidt, Michael Q. — Either way. Happy editing! Darylgolden(talk) 04:59, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Something to keep an eye on
Can you keep an eye on the article My Brother The Serial Killer? I'd created it back in 2012 and it was redirected last year in August with the rationale "Just another TV doc. Not notable itself", which I disagree with since the movie did gain two reviews. It is a sleazy little documentary, but it does appear to pass NFILM. It may come up for deletion at some point in time, so I'd like it if you could just keep an eye on it along with me. If you can find any other reviews I'd appreciate it, but it doesn't seem to have gained that many reviews other than Variety and IndieWire. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 06:11, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment in the AfD, I had not noticed the nominator's reply, otherwise I would had replied myself. I don't think is a simple question of lack of WP:BEFORE, as I pointed in the nominator's talk page and in this discussion (which looks what triggered this one and several other AfDs started from the same editor), it smells more a retaliatory AfD, you are deleting my article about my favorite writer who is representative of "meritorious culture", I'll seek vengeance against "meretricious porn". Obviously wider competence issues also exist. --Cavarrone 12:12, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Hey Schmidt, would you mind weighing-in on this subject? You have already labeled Keep on this related page: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Sand_Castles_(film). Both seem to have the same/similar sources. Thank you, MoonglowMan (talk) 01:56, 18 January 2015 (UTC)
Of potential interest
It seems notability on Draft:Deborah Stratman is pretty clear, but the current article is lacking. I thought you might be interested in improving it so it can be moved to mainspace. (It was up for G13 deletion as a draft untouched in 6+ months, but I delayed that today). If you aren't interested in this one, no worries. --ThaddeusB (talk) 05:02, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

DYK for The President's Plane Is Missing (film)
On 29 January 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The President's Plane Is Missing (film), which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that ABC's television film adaptation of Robert J. Serling's The President's Plane Is Missing was completed in 1971 but postponed until one year after Richard Nixon's 1972 visit to China? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Ah, okay. My apologies for misunderstanding. As for the title, if indeed there's another title that's more sourceable for it, then by all means go right ahead and move it. Bearcat (talk) 07:54, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Cool... and thanks. . Schmidt, Michael Q. 08:01, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- The thing is, though, that flagged content problems routinely go for long periods of time without actually getting fixed — because it takes somebody who has the necessary knowledge of how to fix an article even noticing that said article exists in the first place, a bad article can go for years without anybody doing anything at all. (Just as an example, we still to this day have articles that have been tagged as unreferenced since 2006.) So there is absolutely a line beyond which simply flagging a content problem for "fix through the normal editing process" isn't really a sufficient response, because the article is so bad that if nobody's prepared to tackle the problem immediately, then we're better off nuking and paving than we are simply keeping the existing version. I'm glad you took the time to salvage the article by rewriting and sourcing it properly, but the fact that it's possible to do so doesn't undercut WP:NUKEANDPAVE — the original article was so untenably awful that we simply couldn't let it stand in that form unless somebody was willing and able to tackle it right away. Bearcat (talk) 08:34, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
- Well Bearcat... I can only get to them one at a time... and this one was not years old. It was only two weeks old and the noob author had never been welcomed, nor informed that he needed to follow article standards and MOS:FILM.
- Wikipedia is a self-confessed work in progress and accepts that it is imperfect. It also understands that while it could be done, not being done is not a deletion rationale for even a crappy something determined through research to have potential. Perfection is a goal, not a demand. The complete text at WP:IMPATIENT is instructive, and I tend to agree with it.
- While consensus varies, if an article is not a policy violation and due diligence determines it could possibly be improved, there should be no rush to delete even something that may have sat unimproved for years... as a deletion of something with potential removes any possibility that it might be done, and acts to presume it might be recreated (maybe even crappier) in some unknown future. Be well. Schmidt, Michael Q. 11:14, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, again looking for some help
Hey, I don't know if you remember me. You and DGG were a huge help in the UFO sightings in outer space AfD and OpEDNews, two articles which should have never been deleted. Now I'm faced with another one.
Involuntary celibacy. This version of the article is vastly improved over the original AfD nominations with a plethora of what I see as reliable sources including 6 additional sources which I've added. User:Coffee closed the last AfD as delete though I strongly disagree. It was again denied recreation at the most recent DRV. I was planning another round at the AfD's and was hoping for your opinion on the notability of the subject. What do you think am I missing something? Valoem talk contrib 06:02, 12 March 2015 (UTC)

Hey, you recently edited the page The Fight For Bala (film). Could you please take a look at the page and let me know what we should edit to not have it deleted? MrBean65 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:59, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
- @MrBean65: Firstly under Notablity (unreleased films) we'd need to know the film has actually completed and that its production received significant coverage in multiple reliable sources to be considered for a keep. After its release, we look to WP:Notability (film) and again we require that the film has received significant coverage in multiple reliable sources. NOT production's website... not blogs (unless they are official news blogs). Keep in mind, that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia (of sorts) and not a means to promote a cause, however "worthy" it might be. Article neutrality is a paramount consideration.Schmidt, Michael Q. 01:30, 31 March 2015 (UTC)

Okay thanks for that memo-I was going to leave it alone but yeah that came out as odd. (I would of checked but didn't feel like going through the history either)Wgolf (talk) 15:57, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Wgolf: You really should perform due diligence when evaluating a topic. And if you do not feel like doing so for some reason, best to simply ignore it entirely until you do have the time. For even an inadvertent or unintentional "laziness" is no reason to make it somebody else's concern. Schmidt, Michael Q. 17:07, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- On another note-on this article Alap Desai I keep on trying to tell the guy that he is not adding refs but they are el's yet he does not seem to get it, not sure what else I can say though. (And I did put a BLP prod on a article recently that did have a link to another language but I couldn't' tell if they were refs or els or what but recently I was told just to put a blp prod even if it had a foreign wiki which comes across as confusing to me but oh well) Wgolf (talk) 17:25, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Wgolf: If the external links establish notability even if not used as citations, sending the article to AFD is improper under WP:NOTCLEANUP. Visit Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup and find a whole slew of tags for correctable problems that do not mandate a deletion discussion. In the case you describes, tagging it with external links or citation style or cleanup-bare URLs or format footnotes or more footnotes or BEST... no footnotes would bring the need for editorial attention to others without a unnecessary AFD. We do not do AFD if an issue is otherwise addressable. Schmidt, Michael Q. 17:39, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

BTW-is there a notice for people who just remove tags (not deletion tags but others)
Such as here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eric_Xu&oldid=655837281 the IP removed all the tags (which I restored other then the BLP unsourced seeing there were sources now) and there have been other cases too like people saying "they have proven notability" when nothing changed from when it came up the first time (usually the instance of the notability/coi being removed though I notice are either IP's or SPI)Wgolf (talk) 16:02, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Wgolf: For a first offense of IP or SPA or noob, try the "" from Template:Uw-tdel1 with an warning/explanation that it is improper to remove maintenance templates. The level of warning can increase as needed if repeated. Schmidt, Michael Q. 17:26, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing this. I'm wondering about using a PR release, [9] This says:
the documentary touches on what many critics consider a pseudo-scientific theory about the powers of the skin pigment melanin. This “melanin theory”-which was popularized by several Afrocentric scholars in the late 80’s and early 90’s- asserts that the possession of greater levels of melanin causes an inherent superiority in black people. Because of this theory, many commentators (including several posters on YouTube and twitter) have charged the film with promoting reverse racism. The film’s producer, New York Times best-selling author Tariq Nasheed (“The Art of Mackin," “The Elite Way,” “Play Or Be Played” ) is dismissing the criticism: “There is absolutely nothing racist about this film-we are simply giving the real history of Black people that is never discussed," Nasheed stated in a recent interview. “Many ancient African cultures documented how melanin related to the pineal gland, and they understood a spiritual correlation to this. The ancient Egyptians were very knowledgeable of this information. So this film is just giving you the history of that.”
As it is, the article just says it discusses the "science of melanism", which isn't actually the case - it discusses a certain pov on melanism. Dougweller (talk) 09:13, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
- ?? @Dougweller: A PR piece, even if attributed to production, is not worth using. All I could find in the current version is the sentence " Other film topics include the investigation of melanin"[10]... and nothing stating "science of melanism". And I did find a source confirming "Dr. Umar Johnson". and with what editor do you feel COI? Schmidt, Michael Q. 09:28, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'll check on the COI, what's your point about Umar? I don't know if he has a doctorate or not, but I haven't challenged that. Dougweller (talk) 10:08, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

- I think I made it clear in my edit summaries why I removed it. I've got no reason to think that he doesn't have the Psy.D. he says he has, which is I believe from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dougweller (talk) 11:44, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

The information on Maxim Stoyalov requires citation to sources determined as reliable, not to sites where simply anyone can post unvetted claims. So nope. Schmidt, Michael Q. 16:19, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

- Nope. "kinopoisk.ru" is a user-edited site. Not an RS. "lostfilm.info" is a user-edited site. Not an RS. You need to understand that being one of many generic zombies in a film full of zombies is not particularly notable. Find newspapers that speak toward the actor and his work... that tell readers that his portrayal of a zombie is somehow noteworthy, to show his character roles spoken of someplace OTHER than social media or user-edited databases. Hi MQS: I left the notability tag atop Binka: To Tell a Story About Silence after closing the afd discussion as speedy keep as per the nom being withdrawn. I'll leave it up to you to retain or remove the template, since it appears to be a borderline matter. North America1000 07:39, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Obviously not liable to speedy now. The only things that jump out are
- He is described as "skilled", a bit weaselly at the best of times but especially when the sources are interviews with him

Unsalt a page
Hi Michael! Could you unprotect the page The Hideout? I just created a basic (yet decently referenced) stub about the 2007 mystery film, you can take a look at it here, but apparently the page was salted because of an obscure local radio show which was repeatedly deleted and re-created between 2005 and 2008. The administrator who apparently salted the page, User:Jmlk17, is inactive from 2010. --Cavarrone 17:40, 11 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Cavarrone: with so many pages that use "Hideout" or "The Hideout" and while unsalting would work, per WP:DAB I chose instead to move your stub to The Hideout (film). Schmidt, Michael Q. 19:28, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Sources that are reliable for discussion of films
Hi, Michael. Per our exchange in a previous discussion, I am not clear as to which sources are considered reliable for material about films. I am looking for reliable sources for Orwell Rolls in His Grave, particularly those that mention "October Surprise" or "October Surprise conspiracy theory". I found brief mentions in The Washington Times, Los Angeles Times, and possibly Slant Magazine. I hate to impose on you, but I was wondering if you might see any others that are usable. Thanks! - Location (talk) 02:01, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Location: Good finds, specially for a 12-year-old documentary film. Slant Magazine is perfectly acceptable and represents a nice "substantial" review. The The Washington Times and Los Angeles Times articles is not "trivial" mentions. I also easily found the quite acceptable BBC, San Francisco Chronicle, PopMatters, DVD Talk, DVD Verdict, E-FIlm Critic, Haro, and New York Times and many others. (Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL). You need not even concern ourselves with minor sources when you have so many major![11] WP:NF is easily met and there is a lot with which to expand. Schmidt, Michael Q. 20:21, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- And archived: Village Voice, Entertainment Today, and Wolfe Entertainment Guide. Schmidt, Michael Q. 20:56, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you so much. Being unfamiliar with the various film review sources, it's difficult for me to tell which are reliable and which are not. I wasn't challenging the notability of the film, btw. With "brief mentions" I meant to refer to content that discussed the film's coverage of the October Surprise conspiracy theory. I haven't yet reviewed all the sources above, but PopMatters devotes a few lines to it. Thanks again for taking the time to help me out! Cheers! - Location (talk) 22:39, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Location: Happy to help, as sometimes films are spoken about in media not specifically dedicated to films, and sometimes they are spoken of only in those film-specific media. We look to editorial oversight to determine reliability. The Pop Matters review gives insights as to how one might search, but mention of the October Surprise#1980 Carter vs. Reagan "October Surprise" version within this film article can only be spoken of and sourced in context to how it was discussed in the film... not on how it is spoken of elsewhere... and in considering the film has a wider aspect, it should not become a overburden focus within the article. Best to simply cite how others speak about the film as a whole,. Schmidt, Michael Q. 23:21, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

- @Jhenderson777: Sometimes and with the best of intentions, new page patrollers respond as if stubby new articles are completely useless, substituting a personal opinion of the topic's potential rather than use a diligent search for sources covering a topic. Which name to use for actors who change their name
Hi, I saw your name listed as a coordinator of WikiProject Film. I was editing Indian Summer (1993 film) and noticed that Kimberly Williams-Paisley was listed by her current/married name in the Cast section, but by her maiden name (her name when filming the movie) in the infobox. I know a person's name needs to be consistent within an article, but my question is: Which name is supposed to be used for an actor in each article their mentioned in? Their current name? Or their name when they filmed the project (movie, tv show, etc.)? I looked at a number of the articles for the projects she filmed prior to getting married (2003) and discovered that the way her last name is shown is not consistent from article to article. Sometimes it's Williams and sometimes it Williams-Paisley. Can you please tell me what the "rule" is on this, and if there is a relevant policy or guideline that specifically addresses it? My hunch is that the current name (common name per the person's article title) should always be used, regardless of what it was when the person filmed the project. However, that would mean every time an actress (or some other person) changes their name, it would need to be changed in every article their name appears in. Thanks for any input you can provide. Lootbrewed (talk) 04:55, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Lootbrewed: Well... since that 1993 film has Kimberly far more sourcable under her original name, and since the marriage and new name are far less sourcable in connection with this early project, I handled it thusly. Schmidt, Michael Q. 05:04, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick reply! I wish that could be explained in some guideline so all editors will will handle it conistently. So, should that paranthetical explanation you added about Williams-Paisley be used only in the Cast section, and not in the infobox? What if there is no Cast section? Also, what if the person's name is mentioned mutliple times throughout an article about one their movies or TV shows? Would you just use the last name they used (when filming) in every instance? Lootbrewed (talk) 05:20, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Lootbrewed: I simply expanded logically upon what is stated in guideline WP:NCF... in that for our readers, we use the most sourcable name. A parenthectical expansion is not used in an infobox as it would be unwieldy. If used, it works best in the body of an article and acts to "draw" readers into learning more about the topic. If a film article has no cast section (unlikely, but okay to then add one), the info could be included as prose IF it had a bearing on the film.... but if it has no bearing on the film, we do not include it... usually. If no home in a film article, we would/could/might then include a name change in the actor's article (if there is one). And indeed, my parenthetical explanation might well be removed and the name therein left in cast section AND infobox as Kimberly Williams to be seen simply as Kimberly Williams. For our readers, we always try to best use the most common and more easily sourcable name, even if other names have some (perhaps limited) sourcability. Point here being that when she shot Indian Summer (1993_film), Kimberly did so as "Kimberly Williams", not as "Kimberly Williams-Paisley". If she does later projects under a different name, we'd use that different one (as that different name would be the one sourcable for that different project). The best rule of thumb is "whatever best serves the readers". Schmidt, Michael Q. 09:17, 7 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi Michael. I was asked to look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bronson Webb. Since you're the expert in film-related articles, would you take a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bronson Webb and determine whether or not he meets WP:NACTOR (or some other notability guideline)? I have taken "Javad Ramezani" out of the cast list, although he is there in IMDb. This is a young Iranian, a persistent self-promoter (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/جواد رمضانی شوراب/Archive) of a rather unusual kind. He started in the usual way making himself out to be a great singer, but then switched to being a great ethologist, adding his name alongside that of Konrad Lorenz with edits like this. Lately he has given up on that and started adding himself into film or album articles.
I did wonder whether there might be a real actor with the same name, but the article history shows his name being repeatedly added by IPs in the 5.232 range (Iran Telecom), which is one of the sockpuppetteer's usual ranges. The fact that he has been able to put himself into IMDb just shows how unreliable a source it is. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:00, 25 September 2015 (UTC)

Resources Development Administration
Regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Resources Development Administration (RDA), I am somewhat itching to overhaul Resources Development Administration (RDA), but I am finding the AfD too far along that I would not want the existing input to be considered against that hypothetical overhaul. If the article is kept, I will clean it up. If it is deleted or merged, I will start a draft page to write about this topic from scratch. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 17:48, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- Well Erik, as you have reserached some terrific coverage (being ignored), you might preemptively copy a version to User:Erik/workspace/Resources Development Administration (RDA) right now and use it as the basis for rebuilding. I've done similar a couple times and returned to ongoing AFDs to notify all participants that under WP:TNT, I rebuilt an article to meet their concerns. When they were approved but the others, the closer then moved my improved version(s) over the one(s) being discussed. The DRVs were quite amusing. LOL. I am growing aomewhat disappointed that so many (not all) wishing delete appear to "think" guideline WP:SIGCOV somehow means the same as non-guideline WP:SUBSTANTIAL, when it does not and in now way mandates that non-trivial information but also be substantive. Schmidt, Michael Q. 20:59, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- I would like to see how the AfD turns out first. As I mentioned to Bgwhite, I found more sources in Google Books; some sources do not use the term "Resources Development Administration", so searching for just RDA shows more results. There's nothing that is going to blow their minds, unfortunately. The results tend to be a page here and there or a few paragraphs here and there. I tried to encourage the creator to expand the article themselves, but I don't think the changes look convincing. I just rescued Danny Torrance this week, so I am kind of exhausted for now in terms of pulling sources together. Actually, would you want to endorse deleting the article "for now"? If we do that, then there's no AfD pressure, and we can have a well-written and well-sourced article delivered that can be appropriately reviewed in a fresh follow-up AfD (if it returns to that). We can loop in the creator to help out with the draft. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 21:09, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- LOL. Never depend on an inexperienced author to improve a controversial piece he created in the first place. I could endorse a temporary move to your userspace for work, ONLY if it is understood and accepted that an improved article would be returning with the blessings of a closer and an avoidance of an unnecessary DRV. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:18, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and changed my stance and have contacted the creator about collaborating. Let's see what we can accomplish in the draft space. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 21:28, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- To follow up, do you mean the same closer? I had already asked the admin who deleted it before to restore it based on my findings. I was thinking more of a restoration in a week or two, which would definitely be a completely different article from what exists now. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 21:31, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- Both then. Schmidt, Michael Q. 21:34, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
This shows that the text in Draft:Resources Development Administration's "Fictional appearance" section here matched the first three paragraphs exactly. While these contributions are licensed as CC-BY-SA (more details), I am concerned that the Wikia did not get attribution. I'm going ahead and dropping these paragraphs; we'll need to write our own. Let me know if there is other action to be taken in regard to this content-licensing matter. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 12:54, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

Article update review
Micheal, User Cunard asked you to weigh in on an AfD I volunteered to try to save a while back Bronson Webb, thanks for weighing in on that discussion. He also tells me you are well versed in film topics. I'm wondering if you would entertain reading my request for edit on an existing composer's article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Anthony_Marinelli. As a paid editor, I did remove some untrue passages and add some references, but this update is too big to be considered trivial. Thanks again for your evaluation on the Webb AfD, the article is now on my watchlist and I'm following his career. This has twice been deleted A7, now here it is again. Those references that mention him at all do so only in passing. The association with Aashiq Abu does not provide inherited notability. Verify sources on Internet Horror Movie Database
Hello, in the Internet Horror Movie Database AfD you have written this: "Bring forth multiple independent reliable sources (not just three or four) that discuss IHMDb itself directly and in detail (even if non-English sources) and you'd go far to show the website as having suitable notability."
Can you valuate the new sources I inserted in the article? Thanks (Pizzole (talk) 16:50, 17 October 2015 (UTC))
- Sorry Pizzole, but as the website is essentially brand new, what I've determined is that sources speaking about it simply tell us it launched last August and speak a bit toward its goals and plans. I suggest you request the article back to you and wait for it to gain wider recognition and actual commentary and analysis. While it is hoped that being written of on Wikipedia might help those goals, what must be remembered is that Wikipedia is not here to promote or advertise up-and-comers. - Thank you for your advises. But see, I was against the page because it was blantly copied from Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada-Right from the production section to the last thing. Whatever happened in filming the Tamil version isn't necessary should be same for Telugu version. Further, atleast some sources are required. How can one expect writing a big paragraph (that too copied) without requisite source? Arjann (talk) 06:03, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Arjann: Wrong conclusions and assumptions. Go read WP:N. Unless an blatant and obvious fraud, an article does not actually need sources just so long as the topic is determined as notable through their simply BEING available... even if not currently used. You want sources? Request them using {fact}} or or . And rather than rush to judgement, it would be best if you wait for the ongoing AFD to close. AND THEN we can decide if a merge would be the proper suggestion once we can determine which title usage, Tamil or Telugu, is the more notable. Schmidt, Michael Q. 06:16, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
- Let that part be removed. I beg. It is incorrect. I read what you told me. The tamil version and telugu version are different why don't you understand.

They have voted negatively in a AfD debat without reason. User Collect and McGeddon are persecuting me. He voted negatively in the AfD debat of the Internet Horror Movie Database, they are persecuting me in the page [12] and in the page [[13] where I added some titles. He have segnaled me here and here where the debat was archived. They continue to change all I do. Plus, Collect, for what i see in his talk page has various problems with Wiki like sock and blocks. This is why yesterday I afded some of his pages. Please help me stop this persecution. Please verify. (Pizzole (talk) 23:13, 25 October 2015 (UTC))
- @Pizzole: I do not know the entire story, only that a few of your recent AFDs were really bad ones per WP:DEL#REASON and WP:ATD. Before nominating a topic for deletion, you need to understand that notability is found through sources BEING avilable, and not in their being used and to find them you MUST use proper WP:BEFORE. If you feel editors are questioning your decisions, please re-exam your practices. And if anyone questions your choice of sources, the place to see if they are proper is at WP:RSN. Repeated arguing rarely works. Sometime it really is best to remove yourself from acrimonious discussions. Schmidt, Michael Q. 05:58, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Watch: User:Drmies, forward lateral, fifteen yard penalty for personal foulness, do not pass go, do not collect 200. Hah!
- Seriously though, there is beginning to be a good crowd of arb-hopefuls this year. If either of you can be persuaded to run, some folks have spoken very highly of you, so please consider it seriously. There are at least one or two non-admins already in the thing, who might just have a shot at breaking through the RfA-ceiling and getting elected as arbs. Till We Meet Again (2015film)
Hello, I was surprised this article was deleted, could it be moved to draft space so it can be worked on? I have nothing to do with the article but took part in the afd discussion and would like to try to improve it. On another subject could you consider a speedy delete of Airport as it serves only to make a mockery of its subject with a list of negative reviews and not much else. Purification
Hi Michael, gazing over the Purification (film) AfD, I saw some good comments of yours and wanted to just say that. (and in fairness to me, I was only looking from a COI angle). I see the userified draft is stale, so wanted to prod you to action before anyone (else, not me) PRODs it. Regards Widefox; talk 23:53, 3 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Widefox: Thanks for checking in, but I'd caution anyone (else, not you) to not make a (poor) decision to PROD an article-in-work in any admin's (such as myself) sandbox/userspace, as in a nowiki'd draftspace is precisely where things ARE to be worked on that are not ready for mainspace. And while being IMPATIENT with the speed or efforts of how a mainspace article may be worked by others is often used as a non-policy rationale to delete something, under WP:DEADLINE it is even less of an imperative for something in a userspace. Thanks. Schmidt, Michael Q. 00:51, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
- Haha, oh of course, there's only you and I that know and neither of us want to delete. It would be closer to reckless than bold. And while I'm here confessing, I know one long forgotten COI article that I refunded, then realised is a TNT. Widefox; talk 02:08, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
Indranil Sen
Perhaps you can have a look at Indranil Sen. It was deleted, that's ok, but apprisingly Indranil Sen discography still exists. Following WP:INDAFD, I feel the article could have been saved using the Indic search page. --Tito Dutta (talk) 19:43, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- Tito Dutta... would you like it userfied to you for work? Schmidt, Michael Q. 11:30, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
Question
Hi, Michael -why are related articles now being listed at the bottom of film articles, such as seen here: Elvis Presley filmography? Aren't the Wikilinks adequate? Who decides how many related articles get added and what is the criteria? Thanks in advance. Atsme📞📧 18:10, 18 December 2015 (UTC)
