Blackpool F.C. season articles

edit

Hey man, I was just wondering if you thought it might be a good idea to sort each of the articles in Category:Blackpool F.C. seasons by the season, rather than by the club's name. I have already made the change to Blackpool F.C. season 2007–08, but I should only do the one as it would save you the trouble of changing them all back if you didn't think it was a good idea. That said, I can't see why you wouldn't agree with the proposal. Also, I'm not sure that the use of the Blackpool logo in the club's season articles really constitutes Fair Use, so they should probably be removed. – PeeJay 16:44, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

You have a point there, but as you can see by Category:Manchester United F.C. seasons, there would only be one break in the list, caused by the change from the 2nd millennium to the 3rd millennium. Nevertheless, it's up to you. – PeeJay 20:04, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Meh, I do things as and when I find them. Otherwise I'd just be making unnecessary work for myself. – PeeJay 20:25, 22 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've requested that the re-sorting of the articles be done by a bot, as I don't know how to do it with AWB. – PeeJay 23:02, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Blackpool manager circus

Hey, this afternoon the Blackpool Gazette have reported that Karl Oyston has told Parkes and Thompson that one of them needs to be in charge with the other his assistant. Also in Oystons interview on Tangerine World (on the clubs official site) Oyston was talking up Steve Thompson and it's looking likely that he will be given the post with Parkes as assistant at some point this week. Even if of course Leeds and Grayson do come back trying to entice either or both of them to Yorkshire soon. I'll keep an eye out see what happens! Such fun being a Blackpool fan! Hi Dudesleeper - the template listed above, which you have worked on, was taken to WP:SFD as being too similar to stub templates and therefore easily confused with them. General consensus was that it should be kept (and wasn't really within SFD's scope anyway), but should be reworked to look less like a stub template and more like other cleanup templates. I've done that - please feel free to tweak it further if you wish. Given its new appearance, I'd recommend it be placed at the top of the page along with other similar cleanup templates, not at the bottom with stub templates (I've said as much on a new /doc file I made for it. What could be a better reference than a police report in an impartial and public legal hearing? I notice the same article references opinionated journalistic articles, which are accepted as references simply because they may be found online over an official document which is on public record and available on request from the relevant and named council. Familiarity does not make things superior, and please do not be so quick to undo such valid, informative and well referenced edits. I will check back here for your reply, as I do not have a user account. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.106.50.229 (talk) 23:39, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

"again, you can't state something like that without providing a verifiable source" This is a true, unbiased statement reflected in government reports available to the public. It is not a matter based on opinion. Please clarify in what sense this isn't verifiable! I understand that it isn't verifiable by you at midnight on a Wednesday evening, but it is nonetheless verifiable, sourced and accurate. If you're going to make claims about untruth of public information, shouldn't you investigate before rejecting? Otherwise it's just laziness. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.106.50.229 (talk) 00:34, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

You might as well write because it says so here in my magazine, such is the usefulness of the reference. Please read this when you get a chance. And apparently it isn't just me who has reverted your edits. - Dudesleeper / Talk 01:56, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Since you class a magazine as equal to a government report, but seem to credit public tabloid press, we have sourced a news report which corroborates the story. This report is almost certainly based on the original reference given, but it is of course your right to demand your information from a second hand source. Perhaps this makes for a more interesting specualative life. As the reference fits in with your limited and ill-reasoned criteria, I have reinstated the information we originally submitted. Thank you for your officiousness. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.15.59.193 (talk) 01:30, 23 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I see at last that you have stopped supressing information, but note with interest that you prefer a gutter-press article to an authoritative government report to the extent of deleting the latter from the article. Dunoon

edit

Re: your revert of my edit on Dunoon. I've reverted it back. Reason being, the incident in question was (although sadly devastating for the families involved) a simple RTA (Road Traffic Accident). Accidents (unless of major incident proportions) do not belong in an encyclopedia, which is what Wikipedia is I thought. If you feel you disagree, I work in the emergency services here and I could give you a list of RTA's, in and around the area, that would fill out the page considerably. No, one-car accidents do not belong in an encyclopedia, hence they are 'un-encyclopedic'.

See section 5 here> What Wikipedia is not

scancoaches (talk) 09:28, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I must disagree strongly on this. The gentleman in question was not a public figure so his death is not encyclopedia worthy. It may not have been a 'run-of-the-mill' RTA as you say, but it was a single vehicle RTA all the same. Here in Dunoon it was front page news in the local paper one week then its all but been forgotten about (those involved aside). As I say, I work in the emergency services here in Dunoon itself and theres RTA's here every week, including fatals and most of these are not 'run-of-the-mill'.
Someone looking up Dunoon in Wikipedia is looking for information on the town, they don't need to know that a car crashed a year ago and someone died. This kind of thing (and much worse) happens in every city in the world every day, its not worthy of wikipedia though. It was news at the time. Its now time to move on...
I suggest a opinion count on the Dunoon talk page if you disagree scancoaches (talk) 12:45, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Just because the BBC reported it on their website does not make it anymore noteworthy. A search of the BBC website finds other fatal RTA's in the area. No single vehicle RTA should be in an encyclopedia.
Quote from the same Wikipedia Notability section that you mentioned:

"Wikipedia is not a news source: it takes more than just a short burst of news reports about a single event or topic to constitute evidence of sufficient notability. The Wikimedia project Wikinews covers topics of present news coverage."

scancoaches (talk) 13:31, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Again, same quote from 'Notability Section.

"Wikipedia is not a news source: it takes more than just a short burst of news reports about a single event or topic to constitute evidence of sufficient notability. The Wikimedia project Wikinews covers topics of present news coverage."

scancoaches
All of this category involve major incidents OR well known 'victims', not a single vehicle RTA that had a 'short burst' of news reports at the time. As I also mentioned, a search of the BBC news website reports other fatal accidents in and around Dunoon, should we include those too? scancoaches (talk) 14:07, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Likewise, I can't for the life of me understand why you think that a single vehicle, one casualty RTA is noteworthy for inclusion in an encyclopedic article about a small town in Scotland. I only have one reasoning and that is that it's not 'noteworthy' as per What Wikipedia is not, section 5 'News Report'.

Dudesleeper, I've always found your edits on my home town of Dunoon to be both worthwhile and constructive but I can't see the reasoning behind inclusion of this short paragraph. If you feel the need, then please do put it up for discussion on the Dunoon talk page. Like you, I will happily bow to consensus rather than another person's personal opinion. scancoaches (talk) 15:25, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Ali Mathlouthi

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Ali Mathlouthi, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Ali Mathlouthi seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Nottingham Forest F.C.

edit

I would like to ask why you deleted the section I added in the intoduction to the Nottingham Forest page about the club's nicknames. I have noticed that other clubs' atticles include this information in their introductions, such as Aston Villa (which incidentally is a featured article and therefore sets the standard for other articles).

In addition, it is apparent that you keep deleting the 'Tricky Trees' nickname from the article. I would like to stress that this is a Forest nickname because the Forest logo is known as and was designed as the 'Tricky Tree'. In fact, the club has also named a branch of their Young Supporters' Club 'The Tricky Reds' (a play on the two nicknames) as a result of this.

I trust that this nickname will not be removed again.

User:Nottmlad (talk) 01:02, 25 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have read the information that you referred to in your reply but the category is NICKNAME(S) not NICKNAME. If what you are stating is correct, then surely the vast majority of football club articles are incorrect, including Blackpool FC. Perhaps you should focus on correcting this if you persist in 'amending' the Nottingham Forest article.

Surely Forest is simply an abbreviation of Nottingham Forest and not a nickname? If this follows, then surely the only correct nickname for Derby County would be Derby (rather than The Rams), for Manchester United, simply United or Man U (rather than The Red Devils) and, for Aston Villa, simply Villa (rather than The Villans).

If the Blackpool article can contain 'Pool, The Seasiders and The Tangerines why can't the Forest article contain The Tricky Trees?

Thanks. Nottmlad (talk) 17:10, 25 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Probably will have added detail on this guys career at Port Vale when you read this. Not aggressively but for curiosity I ask why you thought mention of the four explosions not worth keeping in the London Underground article. The event bracketing the significantly named Kings Cross (some foreign supporter of the action claimed panic (which in fact did not overcome the population) "in the North, in the East, in the South and in the West") clearly had an anti-British, anti-Christian meaning in the minds of the organisers. Replaceable fair use Image:Alan Ball (Blackpool).jpg

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Alan Ball (Blackpool).jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 21:01, 10 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{Rangers F.C. seasons}}

edit

I've had this out before with Peejay, but here it is again. Here's how that template looks on my display. The weird "alignment" thing that it's got going on only works with specific font metrics, namely those of the default Microsoft Windows web fonts, and looks highly odd elsewhere. Rather than adding lots of extra markup so that the template has a subjectively prettier appearance on Windows, we should use the standard formatting which is used on every other navbox on the project (which also conveniently displays correctly if the template is widened). Making our templates less parochial will make it easier for outsiders to use and edit them, and we should be striving to do so wherever we can. Comments such as, "The show's title is House MD, so why is the article still at House (TV series)?"? - Dudesleeper / Talk 16:38, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Good point, see these discussions ([3], [4]). I'd personally prefer it if the page would remain "House", because, at is it is mentioned in the first discussion, in certain parts of Europe, the show is known as "Dr. House", so calling the page "House" would be more central. House, md, redirects here so it's not really a problem. If there are a lot of people on your side who would like to move the page, I have no problem with it being moved. But I guess we'll see that at the FAc.--Music26/11 20:09, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I just reverted your edit, because the image is a free image from a non-copyrighted trailer. It was only after I'd done this that I realized it's the third time you've done so. Are you disagreeing that it's a free image, or have you not looked at the image description? (Because I agree that screenshots are generally not acceptable for living people) As far as I know, this one is OK and there are several other images from this trailer on Commons and used in articles. If there's a problem with using it, could you please let me know. There's been some discussion at Commons over what is and is not suitable, and I've been asking another editor there for clarification. What's this "one author who has requested deletion or blanked the page" about?

What happened was that a user put these logos in and then changed their mind and requested that they be deleted. His reason was not supplied, but people often do this when they find that they are not allowed to do what they did, perhaps the logos were too high resolution. The logs that were deleted in the spree are File:Manchester City.svg File:Hull City.svg File:Blackpool.svg File:Charlton Athletic.svg File:Stoke City FC.svg File:West Ham United FC.svg File:Tottenham Hotspur.svg File:Sunderland AFC.svg. Orphaned non-free media (File:Blackpool01xq5.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Blackpool01xq5.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Proposed deletion of Deantown

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Deantown, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

This looks like an alternative name for the settlement commonly known as Dean Village. The "was" in the all too short entry, and lack of any corroborating evidence, makes me think it should go.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Tagishsimon (talk) 01:45, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

The problem is, per google, a Deantown cannot be found in Edinburgh. One can be found outside Edinburgh - a mining village, according to http://www.scottishmining.co.uk/260.html. There is a Deantown Drive listed in the google searches, but... If we cannot find anything but circumstantial evidence (such as the biog of a footballer) then should it be in the encyclopedia as a fact? --Tagishsimon (talk) 01:55, 4 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

(Australian footballer)

edit

I am curious as to why you saw the need to "clarify" the disambiguation qualifier of Darren Bradshaw (Australian footballer) to Darren Bradshaw (Australian rules footballer)? The only other Darren Bradshaw with an article has no link to Australia, so the fact that he plays a different type of football to the one the Aussie plays is irrelevant, in my opinion. Yes, the main article is titled Australian rules football (to avoid ambiguity, despite the official name of the code being Australian Football), but unless a Darren Bradshaw starts playing in the A-League, (Australian footballer) is completely unambiguous - we call them footballers and he's Australian. Would you suggest we change every (English footballer) or (Scottish footballer) article to (English association footballer) or (Scottish association footballer) to match that form of football's main article name? The-Pope (talk) 16:17, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Jaysus Christ, mate. I just looked in Category:Brisbane Lions players and saw another player with the disambiguation (Australian rules footballer), so I thought I'd bring Bradshaw's into line. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gina Glocksen (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

Arbitration motion regarding Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Date delinking

edit

Per a motion at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Amendment:

Having considered all the requests for amendment and requests for clarification submitted following the decision in Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Date delinking, the Arbitration Committee decides as follows:

(1) All remedies in the decision providing that a specified user is topic-banned from editing or discussing "style and editing guidelines" (or similar wording) are modified by replacing these words with the words "style and editing guidelines relating to the linking or unlinking of dates";
(2) All remedies in the decision providing that a specified user is "prohibited from reversion of changes which are principally stylistic, except where all style elements are prescribed in the applicable style guideline" are modified by replacing these words with the words "prohibited from reverting the linking or unlinking of dates";
(3) All editors whose restrictions are being narrowed are reminded to abide by all applicable policies and guidelines in their editing, so that further controversies such as the one that led to the arbitration case will not arise, and any disagreements concerning style guidelines can be addressed in a civil and efficient fashion;
(4) Any party who believes the Date delinking decision should be further amended may file a new request for amendment. To allow time to evaluate the effect of the amendments already made, editors are asked to wait at least 30 days after this motion is passed before submitting any further amendment requests.

Please don't hide your major reverts with the minor edit tag, avoidance of open discussion could appear like an admission of guilt to some. More importantly, please don't insult people or their edits in your edit summaries. For my part, I'm sorry I responded the same way, but if you just throw insults around, the discussion polarizes and degenerates until pages are locked. I don't have anything against you, I'd rather take a step back and open up communication, rather than just falling into some edit war. All you have to do is read the article in the talk pages which explains how this material is no longer copyrighted. If you have newer evidence that says the Guardian is incorrect, please post it so I will know that my evidence is no longer good. Ian Evatt and Bloomfield Road

edit

Thanks for letting me know, whoops and I usually check too! Bit of a cock up! I've corrected it now. The capacity at Bloomfield Road has gone back up yet again. At the back of the Kop, another row of seats has been installed, adding around 104-110 seat. So it is now at least 9,750-9,760. In addition, R block in the SW corner which before the South stand was built was a partial block stuck at the end of the West stand is now larger with a number of extra seats already in use. But it is not clear exactly how many yet. With the Preston game on the 30th I presume it will again set a new attendance record. Do you think the capacity should be amended to 9,750 for now or wait until the Preston game, as it will be higher again, possibly (and finally) just over 10,000?--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 21:02, 7 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I know this from the Stonnington (local council) archives; to verify, go to the Stonnington Archives web database and search for Kinnoull Hill. Kinnoull Hill is supposed to be near Sir Alexander Stewart's home town, according to his diary. I don't know if that can be referenced on WP or not... but it's definitely the Hill and not the town.

All the best,

Proposed deletion of Stéphane Tritz

edit

The article Stéphane Tritz has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Did not play a single game in a fully-professional league and therefore fails WP:ATHLETE

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Geregen2 (talk) 17:51, 16 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

BFC historians

edit

I contacted John and he gave me his and Gerry's email addresses (John should answer promptly he always does!!) They both run the Blackpool Programme and Memorabilia Collectors Club - BPMCC (with John the contact, Gerry the author!) and publish regular BFC related books/booklets, if that's also of any interest to you? Books I can remember are "The Khaki Years" (about the WWI seasons), "The £10,000 Goal, the story of the 1930/31 season", "The Italian Job, Pool's Anglo Italian Cup Success", "Monograph of Jock Dodds". Gerry also wrote "The Bloomfield Road Story" and "Seaside Caps" - but I think they are now out of print.

There is also another new book "Blackpool FC on This Day: History, Facts and Figures from Every Day of the Year " by Pool fan Peter Gillatt. Seen it on amazon for £6.99. There was a big article about the book in the Blackpool Gazette on Monday with Ian Holloway and Jimmy Armfield at the book launch. Seems to be promising.

Their email addresses are: johndcross@talktalk.net and gerrywolstenholme@talktalk.net.

Aye, he is still the club captain, even though Charlie Adam has been the on-pitch captain mostly in recent games. Although Adam started the game as skipper yesterday, once BBB went off injured, and Euell came on, the captain's armband was immediately handed to Euell. And he still has his "Captain Speaking" skippers column in the matchday programme.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 16:07, 6 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Minor" edits

edit

Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Talk:Association football, as "minor" if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits. Per Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. The rule of thumb is that only vandalism/test reversions or edits consisting solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modifying content should be flagged as "minor". Goonies edits?

edit

Hi Dudesleeper,

please can you tell me why you edited my contributions regarding the 20th + 25th anniversary events of the Goonies? They're completely relevant to the cult status topic within the Wiki page and it's information that all Goonies fans will appreciate knowing about. I also do not understand why my external links to Goonies websites were removed either. These are quintessential websites for Goonies fans to visit, other than IMDB. In fact, IMDB draws a lot of it's information from these websites.

Hey man, I appreciate your action over the prods I placed on those articles, but do you really think it is wise to have such a large section of the Blackpool F.C. article devoted to two non-notable subjects? There is nothing special about either the book or the DVD (many clubs have books devoted to their results and stats, and DVDs about their best games), so why mention them at all? Bloomers

edit

To be honest I'm still not sure. We know of course it was 10,035 and that it has gone up by at least 2,500. But for the Nottingham Forest game on the 17th, they have been given A and B blocks in the Kop plus they will get part of C block (the rest of C being for segregation), but not all of the East stand. There was talk that if they got crowds of over 12,000 then they would have to pay the council, because of traffic and roadworks that haven't yet been done. But no-one seems to really know. Maybe John Cross or Gerry Wolstenholme might know? Sorry I couldn't be of more help! I just hope we hit 10,000 on Monday, but if not then the Forest game will see well over 11,000.--♦Tangerines♦·Talk 01:59, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The useful contributions to Mr. Brown's article are much appreciated, as it mostly just seems to draw vandalism like a magnet. Very nice user page too. Good luck to Blackpool in the playoffs, they're off to a cracking start. Cheers, Northumbrian (talk) 00:00, 9 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Brian Austin Green

You're right, Green is not best known for 2 roles - but 1. Following along the Bio:LP intro guidelines, I've re-written that para with 4 new cites. Seems most notable sources (and quotes from Green himself) see his career still defined by the prominence of 90210. EBY (talk) 16:41, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

File:Blackpool F.C. FL finishing positions (overall).jpg

edit

Hi. I think that the image you've created for Blackpool's league finishes could be misconstrued. Really it should show the Football League including the Premier League, otherwise there's a bit of a disjuncture in 1992. Additionally, it doesn't reflect the much smaller number of clubs that were in the Football League in its earlier days. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 09:43, 25 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Time for some teamwork?

edit

Hi there DUDE, VASCO from Portugal here,

I noticed your input at WP:FOOTY about User:Rupert1904, also undid some of his stuff (not all the Spanish squad, there are some players such as Iker Casillas or David Villa which must get thousands of edits per week, no point in me contributing there, most likely pretty much everything will be reverted/toyed with, hence i am "afraid" of clicking in a player's page then seeing the mess it's in and having to waste 3 or 4 hours improving it...for NOTHING).

About Rupert: after we undid his stuff, he logged off and did the same as anon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/68.227.13.101 see here, all have been reverted except PIQUÉ and RAMOS), hopefully it's his only anon address, if not we're in for some serious trouble.

Charles Broadhurst

edit

"I remember when all this were stubs" ;) The 1920s are a black hole for decent sources on City, I'd even struggle to do anything decent with 1926 FA Cup Final. Broadhurst did play in a notable 8–0 last day win which has some decent coverage (the club missed out on promotion on goal average by 0.05 of a goal), so I've put that in but have little else. A shame really, that goalscoring record is most impressive, and it would be interesting to find out why he fell out of favour so suddenly, whether injury or something else. Fair use rationale for File:Courier b.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Courier b.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:17, 8 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi Dudesleeper,

Thanks for reverting that back again. FYI I’ve not decided that all geographic articles should list any football clubs in the area in the lead section. However, it does seem to be customary to mention the most notable things about the place. As far as I am aware the only reason the average person alive today would even know of Burnley’s existence is Burnley FC. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion, guidelines for use at WP:MINOR). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and all users will still be able to manually mark their edits as being minor in the usual way.

For well-established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:14, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Dawn Acton

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dawn Acton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. GSorby - Talk! 22:27, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Images - Perthmixed.jpg and PerthScotland.jpg

edit

I see that File:Perthmixed.jpg has been tagged for deletion and it looks as if it was your work originally though not uploaded by you. I copied the image to Commons, which got it spotted. Can it be saved?

You did not get the notification as the image was uploaded by User:LemonCrumpet (who may or may not be related to you; none of my business frankly). It is a good image, if it is not a Copyvio, which I have used elsewhere and would be sore to lose, if it is not a Copyvio.

The same would apply to File:PerthScotland.jpg. I would transfer that to Commons too if its copyright tag were fixed; until it is, then a transfer would get it jumped on and wiped.

Hogweard (talk) 13:28, 14 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'll have to leave you to square it with Commons by showing where the images come from.
A derivative which I made and uploaded to Commons is, I now see, just a re-creation of File:St. Matthew's Church and Smeaton's Bridge.jpg which you mentioned. It is a good picture (and that has always been my favourite view of Perth). I see it alone is used alone to illustrate Perth elsewhere. Hogweard (talk) 13:44, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Jason Puncheon

edit

I have reverted your own revert as Puncheon's loan at QPR has now ended. Technically he is now a Southampton player but whether he ever pulls on the red and white stripes again remains to be seen. In yesterday's local paper he was quoted as saying "I'd like to start afresh at Saints", so maybe he can get over his problem with Nigel Adkins; after our recent performances, we could do with an injection of new blood as there is no real depth in the squad. Proposed deletion of Serenity Now

edit

The article Serenity Now has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a notable album per WP:GNG and WP:NALBUMS.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Clubname

edit

Hi, I noticed your recent edits where you added "F.C." to the "clubname" parameters at football club articles, and was wondering if there is any consenus to encourage this? I seem to recall (probably incorrectly) that a consensus was reached that articles should stick with the status quo and remain unchanged, but I likely just dreamt that up. Anyway, I just thought I'd bring this up as I'm not quite sure about it myself. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 00:16, 11 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited Niall Mackenzie, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Denny (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Jock Dodds image

edit

Hello mate. This image of Dodds was uploaded by you on 3 April 2007. As part of the "Fair-use rationale" you have mentioned that the image is only available for the articles "Jock Dodds" and "History of Blackpool F.C. (1887–1962)", I was wondering on what copyright grounds the image was only available for these two articles specifically and not for other articles. It was my intention to use the image on "List of Sheffield United F.C. players" which I'm recently improving however this copyright query has stopped me from doing so. Can you please confirm for me if I am able to use it on this article please? Also I was wondering when the image was taken, because if was 70 years ago (baring in mind you uploaded it 5 years ago), it might now be copyright free if I'm correct. Also the licensing may need updating too. I'm not too good with copyright law and international copyright law haha. Regards IJA (talk) 15:31, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'll add it to the article then. I'm guessing I can remove the "Hist of B'pool" and Dodds only statement on the file itself then too? If someone with a better knowledge of Copyright Law objects, I'll remove it. Regards IJA (talk) 16:07, 27 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

You imposed your opinion that a WikiCommons photo of the James Herriot Museum was not relevant to the All Creatures Great And Small page by removing the photo. Please do something creative by also posting what you consider to be a relevant photo to the header section. The one I posted was the only one I could find in Commons. Jeanfield players

edit

Hi Dudesleeper, thanks for the recent comment on my talk page. At least I know one other person is interested on the Juniors on wiki! Was just wanting to mention the Jeanfield Swifts players you added to the Junior internationals section on the Scottish Junior Football Association page. Aird and Kelly don't actually belong there as neither player won a Junior international cap before their illustrious Senior career. Maybe a page or category for all ex-Junior players who received Senior international caps would be a possibility but I haven't thought too much about it.

Incidentally, Jeanfield have had two players capped for the Scotland Juniors side, Harry Adamson in 1947 and Ally Hill in 1952. Adamson made over 200 appearances for Notts County and is surely worthy of a page in his own right, while Hill's page makes little reference to his Junior career. Over time I hope to get around as many ex-Juniors as possible and add categories/detail to their articles. Thanks again Sgt Elvan (talk) 11:05, 5 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Billy Ayre tribute, April 2012.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Billy Ayre tribute, April 2012.jpg, which you've attributed to TV screenshot. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. Journalistic Opinion reverts

edit

Che1563 (talk) 19:38, 25 August 2013 (UTC)Journalistic Opinion revertsReply

I noticed that you did a lot of reverts on me on the issue that they were journalistic opinion. You also mentioned me on a wiki about editing without at least first contacting me and discussing any concerns that you have.

I do not go on wikipedia and disparage players or their reputations, I was simply adding details (95% of them referenced) about a players abilities or attributes. I guess according to your opinion, I cannot post saying Roberto Carlos is skillful at free kicks, or that Pele was a great goal scorer or that Xavi is great passer even if it was referenced because it was a journalist's opinion. So a wikipedia page can only say a player's biographical stats and chronological history and cannot discuss how a player's playing style is? If you go to the articles for the above players there are descriptions of their playing styles and I thank all the Wikepedia contributors who posted such information.

Minor edits

edit

Hi. I noticed this series of edits which were all marked as minor edits. Could you please not mark edits as minor unless they are actually minor? Help:Minor edits may be of interest here. --John (talk) 22:49, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

By the same token, how is this not a minor edit? - Dudesleeper talk 22:56, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
You could so argue, I suppose. But it is better to err in the direction I have; some editors turn off minor edits in their watchlist and might view what you have done (fairly major restructuring as a series of minor edits) as some sort of subterfuge. I am not making that judgement, just asking you nicely to adhere to community standards on this. --John (talk) 23:15, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Mutt Lunker (talk) 21:20, 18 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of More than Love

edit

The article More than Love has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references, no claim of notability, fails WP:NSONG and WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Template:Blackpool F.C. squad

edit

I still don't know why you reverted the addition of Jacobs from the Blackpool template, he has joined the club on loan. I will add his squad number to the template and article tomorrow to avoid an edit war. JMHamo (talk) 20:00, 13 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

If you do that, add him to the squad on the Blackpool F.C. article and current-season article. I'm getting tired of, as I said, different editors who specialise in adding updates to only one article, leaving others out-of-date in the process. I'd rather revert an edit to bring it in line with the other articles, since people can't bring themselves to do more than the bare minimum, thus leaving the rest for someone else to do. - NewTestLeper79 talk 21:36, 13 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Well that's just the way it goes here... not everyone remembers to update everything all the time, so with collaboration it gets done eventually. Also read WP:OWN, nobody owns an article, so if somebody updates the template and not the parent article, that is fine. JMHamo (talk) 01:32, 14 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Not really the best reasoning, is it? - NewTestLeper79 talk 14:08, 14 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Tony McMahon

edit

Not particularly sure why you keep revising my edit of removing Tony McMahon from the First Team Squad on the Blackpool F.C. page, and into the 'on loan' section? He's confirmed on loan, and made his debut for Bradford on Saturday - have revised the 2014-15 season article as well.

Karl Oyston

edit

In the article Karl Oyston, you reverted this edit: [7] which quite reasonably commented "Unnecessary to include father's crime in opening sentence of the lead." You reverted, ostensibly because you considered this to be censorship. I would agree that not mentioning Owen Oyston's convicted crimes on Owen Oyston's page would be censorship, and arguably, not mentioning it somewhere on Karl's page may be leaning towards censorship. However, I can't see that it should be mentioned in the first line. Could you explain why you think it is necessary in the first line? Thanks! --Tom dl (talk) 14:23, 21 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I thought I'd let you know my reasoning for undoing your reverted edit, because that is the former players new subsequent club after being released. I have added notes to the bottom of the table to say that the respective players have joined their new club following their Blackpool release. Please do not revert again. Thanks Skyblueshaun (talk) 12:24, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

So we're to update it in two years when they join another club? They didn't move between these two clubs, so please stop putting false information in. - NewTestLeper79 talk 15:03, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes, we are. Also in theory these player's contracts don't officially run out until 30 June 2015 so they are signing pre-contract agreements with other clubs. Skyblueshaun (talk) 15:56, 4 June 2015 (UTC) Also you may want to read the following note for rules on released players and their new clubs. Where a player has been released, the club they subsequently joined is listed, provided it is professional and occurred during the 2015-16 season. The material I am inputting is not false. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE AGAIN!!!! Skyblueshaun (talk) 16:08, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

2015-16 Blackpool F.C. Season

edit

Care to explain why you've removed the destination of the released players in the 'Players Out' section? (e.g. Tom Barkhuizen to Morecambe etc.) The 'Players In' states where players arrived from, so the 'Players Out' should be similar - all destinations were properly sourced, and stated from July 1st. Please stop repeatedly undoing and editing other users work, such as the First Team Squad section on the Blackpool F.C. page, it's unneccesery nitpicking, and unfair given time spent editing pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.128.121.202 (talk) 14:41, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

See section above. NewTestLeper79 talk 15:48, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes, but these players have already signed for other clubs; nearly every similar article for other club's '2015-16' season includes such transfers. Plus, the 'Players In' section, includes players signing on July 1st, and their previous clubs, making the article out of sync. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.128.121.202 (talk) 16:48, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

The transactions aren't between Blackpool and the other clubs. The players become free agents, then they are signed by another club. They aren't listed in the club squads until July 1 because that would make it inaccurate. The transfer paperwork has been filed, so the transaction itself can be documented in the ins and outs. - NewTestLeper79 talk 17:07, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
And if you can't figure out how to make a Wikipedia account, I don't think I should be paying much attention to your claims as to how things should be on here. - NewTestLeper79 talk 17:08, 23 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your recent editing history at Nile Ranger shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Re: Juniors

edit

Hi there, thanks for getting stuck into the East Region! Their AGM is tomorrow evening so the North and South Divisions will be announced then.

Harthill and Luncarty both sat out last season along with Crossgates who withdrew midway. Luncarty and Crossgates are returning while Harthill are not.

A couple of other things of note. Montrose Roselea have applied to switch to the North Region. When that is rubber stamped, Armadale Thistle will be reprieved from relegation from the East Premier. Craigroyston have also joined the East Region from the East of Scotland League and will go into the South Division.

I'll have a look at the list of clubs when I'm back from work and see who shouldn't be there. Probably a couple of North sides. Congratulations on Jeanfield's promotion by the way! 05:22, 20 June 2016 (UTC)

Okay... so I have looked at the List of Scottish Junior Football Association clubs and make it 160 clubs competing in 2016–17! Breakdown as below:
  • West Region (64 clubs)
  • East Region (61 clubs)
  • North Region (35 clubs)

Sgt Elvan (talk) 17:50, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Good work! Sorry, Ive not been online for a while. It's hard to second guess what what the Regions will do as they are all independently minded. The East AGM was this week but they haven't announced the league line ups - I am almost certain though, that Oakley United will go into the East Region South Division and make it a 15/14 split. Similarly, up North, it is most likely they will transfer clubs between the First Divisions to balance numbers. I would make the new set up:
Level Divisions
1 West Superleague Premier Division
12 clubs
East Superleague
16 clubs
North Premier League
14 clubs
2 West Superleague First Division
14 clubs
East Premier League
16 clubs
North Division One (West)
10 clubs
North Division One (East)
11 clubs
3 Central District Division One
14 clubs
Ayrshire Division One
12 clubs
East Region South Division
14 clubs
East Region North Division
15 clubs
4 Central District Division Two
12 clubs

Sgt Elvan (talk) 19:58, 23 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

And one final sting in the tail... Aberdeen University kicked out at the North AGM for non-appearance/non-payment of subscriptions. 159 clubs in total with 10/10 sides in the North First Divisions (East) & (West)

Thanks for uploading File:Dirigo Public House logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Thank you for reverting my revert! (Seriously!)

edit

Yikes. I must have gotten confused (I was in the midst of a whole string of article edits concerning a single topic, and was starting to get tired), because I thought you had *added* the offending phrase and that I was undoing it, when exactly the reverse was true! Thanks again! --Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 13:52, 15 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Sorry, but (a) you didn't address what I said, but just put it back, which I do not think is good practice; (b) Livingston Studios is not in Muswell Hill. Really - it's just not there. Thanks and best wishes DBaK (talk) 21:40, 19 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Yarmouth, Maine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page MD (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Watty Allan

edit

Hi NewTestLeper79, I'm just looking at the Watty Allan article, which you created back in 2009. with the hope of filling in some of the gaps. Before I continue my investigations, could I just double-check that your reference, "Joyce, Michael (2004). Football League Players' Records 1888–1939. ISBN 1-899468-67-6.", has those clubs listed in the infobox but without any dates? The Watford FC archive has dates, but I'd like to do some more digging before I add those in. Thanks, Nzd (talk) 14:22, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I've sent Watford FC archive an e-mail asking where they got their dates from. Nzd (talk) 15:12, 27 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
Just to let you know that I have made some changes, adding a number of other clubs and removing Thames Ironworks, based on conversations with Watford and West Ham historians. I've noted this on the talk page. Thanks, Nzd (talk) 17:13, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Peterhead (Scotland) location map.png

edit

The file File:Peterhead (Scotland) location map.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned map.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13Talk 23:33, 3 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

House (TV series) Featured Article Review

edit

FAR coordinator User:Casliber has nominated House (TV series) for a featured article review here. This is a procedural review of its FA status due to the discovery of socking at its original FAC. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. The instructions for the review process are here.

If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:08, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Gordon Ramsay. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Tiderolls 18:18, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Keeley Forsyth

edit

The article Keeley Forsyth has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. –Davey2010Talk 01:49, 17 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Billy Connolly

edit

Hi. I've reverted what you added to the Billy Connolly article. You will, of course, understand that Wikipedia cannot be used as a source for itself. And referencing the The South Bank Show does almost nothing to verify what is said on the Billy Connolly article. All it verifies that Connolly was a guest on the show, it says nothing about what he said on it. It certainly doesn't provide exact quotes. If you can find a source that does, that would be much appreciated. Thanks --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:50, 6 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Undoing Changes

edit

Instead of wasting users time who have gone out of their way to edit an article, why doesn't Wikipedia create a temaplate so that pages of similar content can follow? If you look at other football club Wiki pages I bet you will struggle to find two that are similar in layout. The changes I made and which you undid are still on other clubs Wiki pages, I take it you will be changing those aswell? Smithy53 (talk) 11:55, 16 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

The point I was referring to was the changes to the Blackpool FC squad layout that you altered on 20:29, 10 July 2019, but you have a look at one or two other clubs and their squad is laid out the way I originally changed the Blackpool one to (by position). https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Blackpool_F.C.&action=history Smithy53 (talk) 12:30, 16 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

So will you be checking other football clubs player squads to make sure that they in alphabetical order? If not it seems pointless that you changed the changes I made as it would seem that there is no right or wrong way for the squads names to be listed. Smithy53 (talk) 18:02, 16 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Infobox timestamps

edit

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions were not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats. For articles that use a DMY date format, use five tildes (~~~~~), or for MDY dates, use {{subst:mdytime}}. This will generate the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Mattythewhite (talk) 20:38, 27 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
