Triam Udom Suksa School edits
1. Did you really change the history of the school back to text that is demonstrably false? The school was not invaded. Thailand itself was only invaded for something on the order of six hours. The text you favour makes it sound like the school was a victim of Japanese aggression whereas in reality it was part of an elite Thai society that collaborated with the Axis. 2. I am aware of the percent guidelines. Note that it is not prescriptive and leaves the door wide open for use of the percent sign. I would not have bothered changing except that in this article "percent" and "per cent" are both used. Use of the percent sign in WP has been the subject of lively debate (spell out or symbol; space or no space; use with real numbers <10. The change I made is perfectly logical and you are being pedantic in my opinion. Seligne (talk) 13:55, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
- The first point would be better suited to the article talk page. I'll reply there. I take note of your second point. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:06, 29 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I've seen you active on Thailand related pages. I'd appreciate it if you had any thoughts on the section I created on Talk:Phuket_City, I want to make sure I have my facts right there and I'm not too sure what to do. Apples&Manzanas (talk) 10:24, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

Prasad
Hi, I've just closed Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2020_April_9#Prasad. While occasionally pages may get moved as a result of an RfD discussion, page moves aren't proposed at WP:RFD (as the text at the top of that page indicates). I'm inclined to agree with your proposal, but it's not a clear-cut case at all, and I can easily see reasonable objections; this involves a major article as a long-established primary topic. The way forward is to start an WP:RM discussion at Talk:Prasad (disambiguation). Thanks! – Uanfala (talk) 12:56, 9 April 2020 (UTC) – Uanfala (talk) 12:56, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm not sure moving would be a good idea – prasad is a fairly common concept; the word appears in the names of people but I don't think it's common for them to be referred to as just "Prasad", and the two films are pretty obscure and both are named after the concept. Still, you're absolutely welcome to start an RM. – Uanfala (talk) 13:03, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Uanfala, my view is that the primary issue is what the proper target of Prasad should be, which is a question best suited for RfD. My suggestion was by no means the only option, and discussion could have alternatively resulted in re-targeting to Prasad (name), for example. A requested move discussion would not lend itself to such an outcome being considered, and is not optimal. If the RfD discussion resulted in re-targeting to the disambiguation page, the follow-up page swap would be a technical move that didn't need further discussion, so the page move aspect is much less relevant than that concerning the nature of redirects. --Paul_012 (talk) 19:01, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- The RfD discussion couldn't have resulted in retargeting to the dab page because of WP:MALPLACED and it couldn't have resulted in the dab page getting moved over the primary title because that's a matter for RM. RfD and RM are different venues with different remits, with different sets of participants and different standards. Similarly, the discussion couldn't have resulted in retargeting to Prasad (name) for similar reasons because this would entail the name article getting moved over the redirect. Again, pages may occasionally get moved as a result of an RfD, but not for cases involving long-standing primary topics. If you're interested in brainstorming ideas about what to do with the redirect, you're free to start another RfD, but if at the end there's support for a page move over the redirect, this will still have to go through an RM. – Uanfala (talk) 20:04, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- Of course, you're also free to ask for a second opinion from any administrator you trust who's active at RfD. If they disagree with me, I'd be happy to re-open the existing discussion. – Uanfala (talk) 20:14, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- I've asked at the RfD talk page. --Paul_012 (talk) 20:58, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Thai female Muay Thai practitioners
A tag has been placed on Category:Thai female Muay Thai practitioners requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Thai names in space
Sorry for bothering you, I was thinking to ask you if you can find some newspaper article that lists Thai names in space, like for example a list with Martian craters with Thai names - or a list with asteroids etc. Such link would be a nice addition to the article Thai names in space. I don't know Thai language, that's why I'm asking you. Avram25 (talk) 13:28, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
- The three sources I added (Siamrath, Thai Astronomical Society, IOAA 2017 Newsletter) were pretty much all that I could find that cover the topic as a whole. Quite a few other news sources do exist, but they mostly cover just the individual namings. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:07, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
Black-crested Bulbul
Hi Paul: I'm going through this week's additions to the WP:BIRDS cleanup list, and see that you've tagged the black-crested bulbul article for clarification here. Can I just ask what in particular you're confused about, so that I can try to make it clearer in the article? I see you've also changed "south-eastern" to "eastern", which isn't what the supplied reference says. Do you have a ref for your change? MeegsC (talk) 16:52, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
- I had been removing "southeastern Thailand" from articles, as it isn't a recognised region of Thailand by any of the major systems of general usage, and is ambiguous, as it could refer either to Eastern Thailand or the eastern coast of Southern Thailand. From what I've seen, It appears to be a dated term for Eastern Thailand, though it does crop up now and then, mainly in geology and, as you have observed, biogeography. I've replaced the term where it's clear from context that eastern Thailand was meant. In this case, Eastern Thailand is between Central Thailand and Indochina (presumably in the sense of French Indochina, since the Indochinese bioregion includes the entirety of Thailand and wouldn't be mentioned separately if it was the intended meaning), so seemed likely to be the intended meaning. "Islands off south-eastern Thailand", however, wasn't clear enough for me to make an inference. That said, if it's demonstrable that "southeastern Thailand" is actually a current term of art in the specific fields and not archaic terms borrowed from old references, I'd be happy to undo the changes and find a different solution. Maybe Southeastern Thailand (geology) and Southeastern Thailand (biogeography) could be created as redirects in that case. --Paul_012 (talk) 18:54, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

@Paul 012: Hi! I just started an article about Pita Limjaroenrat. Can you double check if I have not missed or placed incorrect information. I was actually basing Thairath earlier about his year of birth which said "1981" but had to change it to "1980" as stated in the Thai Parliament HRIS. Other than that, I was basing it with the English-text articles. Thanks! — Emperork (talk) 09:23, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Robinson Lifestyle Center
I note your de-prod of Robinson Lifestyle Center with an edit summary of "..De-PROD; a claim doubting the existence of an established mall chain that turns up plenty Google results is a dubious claim "
The case for the PROD was actually "no evidence of any notability or even its existence. There are a number of individual Malls under this corporate umbrella who do have Wikipedia articles, but this rather woolly statement supported only by two dead-links and not edited since 2018 fails any test of notability. Fails WP:GNG
The PROD didn't doubt its existence and was more a commentary on the fact that both refs were dead-links. It also acknowledged that a number of articles about malls under its corporate name exist, but this corporate entity is much more difficult to source or locate in google searches and the refs provided clearly do not establish notability. My searches always returned results about the malls , now about the corporate entity.
The searches suggest that this is just a marketing concept under which the malls are aggregated, but which has no physical existence in the real world. Regards Velella Velella Talk 16:39, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

Talk on Thai–Laotian Border War Comment
Could you please explain why you removed a valid query regards stats from the talk page of the Laotian Border War under a misleading WP:ES here? Thank you. I know you're an experienced Wikipedian, but that's something experienced Wikipedians should not do. I'm sure there's a good reason for the removal, or an error. Thanks for the response in advance. MRT
@Paul 012: It would be sincerely appreciated if you could kindly please refrain from redirecting and changing the MRT article titles. All of these projects are implemented under the authority of the MRTA and commonly known as 'MRT lines'. (eg. the MRTA refers to the Blue & Purple lines as MRT Blue and MRT Purple not MRTA Blue Line nor MRTA Purple Line. This is the same for the MRT Orange Line, as the MRTA refers to it as the MRT Orange line as you can see here, and here. The MRT Orange line title will remain regardless of the private concessionaire agreement granted to manage and operate the line.
These redirection & changes are similar to 2 years ago when you didn't accept that both the MRT Yellow and MRT Pink lines were MRTA projects, and even insisted that it was not the case contrary to all evidence presented to you. As you can clearly see, the MRTA still refers to them as MRT Yellow & MRT Pink, here too. The changes that you have made for the Orange & Brown lines without any consultation only result in inconsistent article titles and make it confusing for readers. Current MRTA related article titles are; MRT Blue Line, MRT Purple Line, MRT (Bangkok) and now we have MRTA Orange Line and MRTA Brown line after your changes. The article titles should be consistent. Preferably, please revert to MRT. However, if you do feel a compelling need to change the titles to MRTA and thus be inconsistent with bot the official MRTA names and common usage, at least ensure that all titles are consistent to avoid confusion. It is rather frustrating that you make these changes without consulting members who make regular contributions to, and in some cases have created, these articles. Thanks for your edit. FYI, I agree that the draft sucked, but the original author left >6 mos ago, meaning that the draft likely would have been G13 deleted before long. (I thought it was better than nothing and could be improved in mainspace.) Calliopejen1 (talk) 19:25, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
- No problem. I was going to wait and see if they would continue editing and forgot about it. By the way, Calliopejen1, what I usually do for Thai-language citations is enter the entire name in the author field. Good day and hello, fellow editor. I sought you've edited this template by "mistake". Did you remember know that these list of musical superstars that sorted by episode appearance? Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, the first coastal national park of Thailand, was established in 1966 and covers 98 square kilometres (38 sq mi) of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. It includes a limestone sub-range of the Tenasserim Hills, freshwater marshes, mangrove forests and sandy beaches. The large Phraya Nakhon Cave, pictured here, has an opening in its roof through which sunlight streams. The historic Khuha Kharuehat Pavilion within the cave was built for a visit by King Chulalongkorn in 1890 and is directly illuminated for a short period each day during certain months of the year. Removal of speedy
Just wanted to let you know I removed your speedy tag on Anusith Termmee. I did a round robin switch to fix the name spelling. Onel5969 TT me 13:52, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
About ramp modelling, it's the one where someone works/does modelling by walking through a long flat platform. I'm not sure if there's a better term for that. I got it from here: https://teen.mthai.com/app/uploads/2019/08/billkin-4.jpg. Article link is this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emperork (talk • contribs) 03:01, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
- I'm only seeing the term used in India-based websites. It seems to be regional term (probably in the Philippines as well)? I think "modelling" is clear enough in general English usage. --Paul_012 (talk) 07:56, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
- I checked the fashion show WP article, other terms can be "runway" or "catwalk". Maybe "runway model" would be the better term upon checking on fashion modelling. — Emperork 🐋🐰 08:04, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
- That seems okay (though I do think "He did modelling work..." reads fine as well). --Paul_012 (talk) 12:06, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Miss Grand
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Miss Grand requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miss Grand International (3rd nomination). When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Sigma Coatings
Hi Paul 012, Thank you for reverting my edit at Sigma Coatings. But, there is already a Draft:Sigma Coatings. So, what reason we should use while putting CSD tags (in this kind of situation)? Thank you in advance. -Hatchens (talk) 12:54, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Help requested
Hi: As a Thai speaker, could you help explain things to ธนภัทร สุดชีแสง? They've been creating BLP articles with no references. After seeing it in Category:BLP articles proposed for deletion and looking at the Thai Wikipedia article, I attempted to rescue Kat Rattikarn, which they had moved back to mainspace after it had been draftified. Seeing all the deletion notices and warnings on their talk page, I then gave them a welcome template and tried to explain that BLP articles must have references, but they just made a further small edit to it and removed AfD notices from several of their articles. Some of their edit summaries indicate that they do not understand the problem of lack of references, and I am concerned with this strange talk page edit, which you reverted, and that their only edit in the User talk namespace is this creation, which is copied from User talk:บุญพฤทธิ์ ทวนทัย. I see that editor gave you a goodbye here in November but is still editing; they appear to have better English skills. I don't suspect sockpuppetry; I suspect that ธนภัทร สุดชีแสง just doesn't understand English well enough to understand what they are being told. Could you please explain to them in Thai about the requirement to have references in BLP articles, and that they must not remove AfD notices? I think those two are urgent before someone blocks them (not to mention the editor time going to fixing and discussing). Other than that, I leave it entirely to your judgement; I may be wrong and they may simply not understand the kind of English in our rules and templates and in my message. If you can help, thank you very much. Yngvadottir (talk) 08:41, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- I was quite unsure how to deal with this user, given his almost identical area of editing interest to บุญพฤทธิ์ ทวนทัย. Apparently ธนภัทร has recently been blocked on thwiki as a sockmaster, so they're probably unrelated. I'll leave him a warning to heed messages, though going by past experience with similarly non-talking editors, I'm not quite convinced it's going to do any good. --Paul_012 (talk) 09:09, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for trying. They got a message from someone who hadn't checked th.wikipedia, recommending they try editing there, and then got blocked; they hadn't edited since before your post. We tried. Maybe when they come back they'll have read what you wrote and figured things out. Yngvadottir (talk) 04:59, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Maritime Silk Road
Since the Silk Road is important economically and because of the infrastructure for these ports, I have added the now deleted sentence for the cities and ports concerned (- also because nothing was available in the article for the respective port in relation to the Silk Road). I'll try to keep the information shorter - is that okay? --Schi11 (talk) 12:03, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- Schi11, I would consider adding the information only if sources specifically mention how the Silk Road is relevant to the individual city/port, and take care to place it in the proper context. It doesn't need to be mentioned in every stop on the route, only where it is significant. (Are we talking about the historical trade route or the Chinese project anyway?) --Paul_012 (talk) 12:14, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- Basically, I wanted to write about the current Silk Road. Of course there are also Chinese and national investments. The sources for the Maritime Silk Road mostly cite lists of ports that are important and benefit greatly from this maritime trade. I didn't mean to add too badly to the articles - but I get the point! I will try an individual approach - is think that is okay?! Many Thanks --Schi11 (talk) 12:27, 20 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I think an individual approach would be the best way. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:41, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

It seems likely that the redirect at least is appropriate (I think you opined this in the DRV to no objection?). It's bolded at the target article, so I'd guess that'd be uncontroversial ? It's sort of not obvious to me one way or the other there's any point to deleting or not deleting the rest of the history? But I can't see that anyone's asked for it to be kept, so if you think it's better it's deleted, I can do that. WilyD 14:49, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I did mean keeping only the redirect. I asked because, before the contested G4, Miss Grand International was a redirect without previous history, and I guess the DRV probably shouldn't have changed that? Mostly procedural reasons actually. It's not a big deal to me either way. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:55, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Help for Thai-English translation
Hello! Since you can speak the Thai language, I would like to ask your help in translating this Thai text into English: กับดักหัวใจของนายยิ้มหวาน. Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur aren't the sister cities of Tokyo and LA!
Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur are the members of the Asian Network of Major Cities 21, while the Japanese capital Tokyo and American city Los Angeles were added to this goddamn sister city. FromCzech who made a better source for Kuala Lumpur last month, Dubai and London became one of the sister cities in this city, however London would not signed an international agreement between Bangkok. Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Thai royal and noble titles requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

pla ra and padaek is diff also som tam and tam maak hoong
hey paul pls go create new page for padaek. pla ra and padaek is diff also som tam and tam maak hoong
Pla ra (fermented fish) is a big part of Thai cuisine. Thais, like Mon, Cambodians and Vietnamese, have a long tradition of eating fermented fish. In Isan, people traditionally make their own pla ra. And when children there are old enough to eat solid food, the first thing their parents usually feed them is freshly-steamed glutinous rice dipped in pla ra.
It is likely that pla ra was central to Thai cooking before nam pla (fish sauce). The French diplomat Simon de la Loubère, who visited Siam during the mid-Ayutthaya period, wrote about pla ra, but made no mention of nam pla. When he returned to France, he brought some pla ra with him.

Some of the more notable Europeans who had travelled as far as Vientiane and Luang Prabang or wrote extensively about their experiences were Fernão Mendes Pinto (1542–1545),[6] Diogo Veloso and Blas Ruiz (1596), Geebard van Wusthof (1641),[7] Giovanni Filippo de Marini (1642–1648),[8] Jean-Baptiste Pallegoix (1830) and Henri Mouhot (1861). By the time Jean-Baptiste Pallegoix arrived as missionary to Bangkok; the papaya and chilli peppers was already fully integrated in the Lao territory and the Southeast Asian food culture as a whole.[9][10][11][12][13] Even Henri Mouhot (15 May 1826 – 10 November 1861), the French explorer and "discoverer" of Angkor Wat, during his trip to Luang Prabang, Laos also noted that the Laotians absolutely adores chili peppers. According to cultural anthropologist Penny Van Esterik, during the 50s and 60s, green papaya salad was rarely known among the Central Thais and could only be found where there are small gatherings of Lao or Northeasterners: In the 1950s and 1960s glutinous rice, roast chicken, larb, somtam (papaya salad), and other Lao favorites were available in Bangkok only around the boxing stadium where northeastern boxers and fans gathered to eat and drink before and after boxing matches. Lao food could also be found outside construction sites in mobile food carts providing construction workers from the northeast with their regional foods and beside gas stations serving long-distance bus drivers. At the conclusion of the Vietnam War, between 1975 and 1995, it was estimated that approximately 200,000 Lao refugees crossed the Mekong River into Thailand. Most stayed in the refugee camps while other moved to Bangkok looking for work. With the opening of the Mittraphap Road and the northeastern railway connecting central Thailand to her northern provinces not only brought jobs and development to the region. It also created a gateway for one of Thailand's biggest inter-regional migration during the economic boom of the 1980s as demands for labour increased. It was estimated that between 1980-1990 approximately 1.1 million northeasterners had moved from the Northeast to central Thailand and Bangkok. This, in turn, helped popularize and create an unprecedented demand for Lao food outside of Laos and the Northeast. Van Esterik also noted that, "[i]n attempting to include northeastern food in a standardized national cuisine, middle-class Bangkok selected and modified the taste of a few dishes—grilled chicken, somtam, larb—by reducing the chili peppers and increasing the sugar, and ignored other dishes such as fermented fish and insects." According professor Sirijit Sunanta[20] these dishes were then represented as "Thai food" when presented to the world.

become origins of Awamori
Awamori is the treasured spirit of the ancient RYUKYU Kingdom of Japan. This small cluster of islands is now known as Okinawa, but the 600+ year old spirit continues to play an integral role in the culture. Awamori owes its existence in part to Okinawa's rich trading history; Its central location on trade routes between Japan, China, Taiwan and neighboring countries made the kingdom a vibrant melting pot of cultures and flavours. Awamori is a beautiful result of this cultural fusion. It originates from the Thai drink Lao Khao and its main ingredient, indica rice, also hails from Thailand. The Okinawans refined the distillation process and created something uniquely and beautifully representative of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Lalalulilalia (talk) 04:43, 8 March 2021 (UTC)

I think I might have come off a bit annoyed about the sort for it- it wasn't anything personal, the problem for me is the guideline WP:SUR. Nevertheless, I self-reverted so that the name sorting matches the guideline like you did, as you were just applying the guidelines. And if I want to take up my issues with WP:SUR, I'll do so on a relevant talkpage, rather than clogging up Talk:Alex Albon. Joseph2302 (talk) 14:23, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

both of them is just thai version of original indian Rama and Shatrughna or maybe just rename Pra Ram to Phra Ram and Pra Satrut to Phra Satarut Lalalulilalia (talk) 12:55, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
- Renaming would reasonable. Indeed, there doesn't seem to be enough content to warrant keeping these as separate articles. Both of them are also WP:orphans (articles not linked from any other article in Wikipedia). I'll rename the articles as you suggested, then redirect them to their respective counterparts. Editors interested in adding content specific to the Thai version can later undo the redirection if they want. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:31, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

paul this is my last im done with wiki for now because of study
can you add this to Thailand page? about the name i don't see it mention at all i don't know if i can edit or not because it locked and bad english
The Siameses give to themselves the Name of Tai, or Free, as the word now signifies in their Language: And thus they flatter themselves with bearing the
Name of Francs, which our Ancestors assum'd when they resolved to deliver the Gauls from the Roman Power. And those that understand the Language of Pegu, affirm that Siam in that Tongue signifies Free. 'Tis from thence perhaps that the Portugues have derived this word, having probably known the Siame∣ses by the Peguins. Nevertheless Navarete in his Historical Treatises of the King∣dom of China, chap. 1. art. 5. relates that the Name of Siam, which he writes Sian, comes from these two words Sien lo, without adding their signification, or of what Language they are; altho' it may be presumed he gives them for Chi∣nese, Meuang Tai is therefore the Siamese Name of the Kingdom of Siam (for Meuang signifies Kingdom) and this word wrote simply Muantay, is found in Vincent le Blanc, and in several Geographical Maps, as the Name of a Kingdom adjoining to Pegu: But Vincent le Blanc apprehended not that this was the King∣dom of Siam, not imagining perhaps that Siam and Tai were two different Names of the same People.
As for the City of Siam, the Siameses do call it Si-yo-thi-ya, the o of the Syl∣lable yo being closer than our Dipthong an. Sometimes also they call it Crung the-papra maha nacon: But most of these words are difficult to understand, because they are taken from this Baly Language, which I have already declared to be the learned Language of the Siameses, and which they themselves do not always perfectly understand. I have already remark'd what I know concerning the word Pra, that of Maha signifies Great. Thus in speaking of their King, they stile him Pra Maha Crassat; and the word Crassat, according to their re∣port signifies living; and because the Portugues have thought that Pra signifies God, they imagin that the Siameses called their King, The great living God. From Si-yo-thi ya, the Siamese Name of the City of Siam, Foreigners have made Judia, and Odiaa, by which it appears that Vincent le Blanc, and some other Authors, do very ill distinguish Odiaa from Siam:
In a word, the Siameses, of whom I treat, do call themselves Tai Noe,*little Si∣ams. There are others, as I was informed, altogether savage, which are called Tai yai, great Siams, and which do live in the Northern Mountains. In several Relations of these Countries, I find a Kingdom of Siammon, or Siami: but all do not agree that the People thereof are savage.

can we use both of them? and why don't template:history of Thailand do something like myanmar like show the dates Lalalulilalia (talk) 23:52, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
- See the description of the problem at Template talk:History of Thailand#Sidebar vs navbox format. Side bars are a relic from very long ago, before infoboxes were in widespread use. There's often no place to accommodate them, and using them costs space that should be used for images that properly illustrate the articles. --Paul_012 (talk) 04:29, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

There's often no place to accommodate them, and using them costs space that should be used for images that properly illustrate the articles ------ i agreed with this but i still like sidebar it's for shortcut if i don't want to go down and want jump to other period in history. Also i like dates in it. And maybe for phone user?

Help!
Hello, Paul, greetings ! As you are a main editor of Thailand Project, I would like to request a little help from you. I created the article about Thai actor Sapol Assawamunkong. I can't translate his awards list from Thai Wikipedia because I can't read Thai language. Please kindly add awards list to en-wiki article if you have a free time. Thank you. VocalIndia (talk) 08:19, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I'm not quite comfortable with adding those entries. For film articles, WP:MOSFILM#Accolades notes that only awards that are themselves notable should be listed. I'm not sure if there's a specific guideline for biographies, but aside from the Cleo competition, which is already mentioned in the text, the other two wins don't seem very significant. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:39, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- I see! Thanks Paul. VocalIndia (talk) 02:54, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
DYK for Murder of Jenjira Ployangunsri
On 5 April 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Murder of Jenjira Ployangunsri, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Thai Supreme Court opinion concerning the murder of Jenjira Ployangunsri is often quoted on Valentine's Day? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Murder of Jenjira Ploy-angunsri. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Murder of Jenjira Ployangunsri), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Translation Phra Tamnak Hill
Dear Paul012, I noticed that you made changes to the Phra Tamnak Hill article, particularly the Phra Tamnak Hill translation which is the real name. Your suggested translation is not entirely correct as Pra and Tamnak do not mean palace and hill. Please note. I am a native Thai speaker. Meow2021 (talk) 07:29, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- My thinking is that 'palace' is the simplest translation of พระตำหนัก, and 'palace hill' for เขาพระตำหนัก. I think it's best to avoid introducing complicated translations in article openings, especially when simply providing context for place names. Detailed discussions of terminology would be more suited to, e.g., an article about the different types/terminology of palaces in Thailand. --Paul_012 (talk) 08:05, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Your thinking is understandable. How about 'Nobility place'? This would be not entirely wrong. Meow2021 (talk) 08:13, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- I'm not really convinced, though I won't argue against it. I'll copy this exchange to the article talk page, where it'll be more relevant, and might receive further input. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:45, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Vince325123
A tag has been placed on Vince325123 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Failed attempt to move article to userspace
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.
If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Wikinights (talk) 21:08, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- It doesn't really matter since the page was a redirect from bad name, but I think it'd be less confusing to revert the botched move first, then tag the page for deletion. --Paul_012 (talk) 21:26, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
Tical
Hi Paul 012, was there a discussion somewhere about changing Tical from a disambiguation page to an article? Leschnei (talk) 21:03, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- No; is there a problem? --Paul_012 (talk) 21:05, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Well, I was surprised that a disambiguation page with 4 valid entries should suddenly disappear, especially since you have also listed Tical (disambiguation) for speedy deletion. Usually there would be a discussion first. Even if the unit of mass is the primary target (and I don't doubt that it is), it seems that the other entries should still be listed on a DAB page. I was confused, so I thought I would ask. Leschnei (talk) 21:17, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- All of the items listed on the disambiguation page (apart from the album, which is linked to in a hatnote in the new article) are topics conceptually related to the unit of weight, so it would be appropriate to briefly overview them in a WP:broad-concept article. A disambiguation page could of course be re-created at Tical (disambiguation), but since there aren't any other unrelated topics with tical in the title, I didn't think it necessary. --Paul_012 (talk) 21:26, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for the explanation. Leschnei (talk) 23:20, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for September 12
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Muang Thong Thani, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Victory Monument. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
Hello, Paul_012,
I trust you know what is going on here. There are numbered archive pages (1, 2, 3, etc.) and then archive pages by year (2010, 2011, etc.). And your CSD notices link to yet another talk page at Wikipedia:Thailand-related topics notice board. Confusing for the admins reviewing your request. Liz Read! Talk! 04:56, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks. The long explanation is that Thailand-related topics notice board already had two archive pages before WikiProject Thailand was created, but Mikhailov Kusserow (who doesn't appear to be active anymore) copied their contents into yearly archives under WikiProject Thailand, so they're redundant. I also made a few mistakes while reorganizing the archives into the "/Archives/2008" format, initially creating them as "Archive 2008", which required further CSDs, as they're bound to trip up archive-display templates. --Paul_012 (talk) 05:09, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- I appreciate the explanation. Looking over your talk page, you clearly are up-to-date on Thailand, plus you have a 15 year old account so I trusted your judgment. But reorganizing multiple copies of archived talk pages? That's a thankless (but necessary) task! Kudos to you. Liz Read! Talk! 05:40, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia
So, I have seen a bunch of messages about warnings about copying in Wikipedia. What procedures do I have to follow? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tanakorn Srichaisuphakit (talk • contribs) 07:19, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
- If you have read the messages, I suggest you follow their instructions by going back to all the articles you edited where information was copied from elsewhere, and performing a dummy edit in each to provide proper attribution unless someone else has already done so. This includes your three edits to List of oldest continuously inhabited cities. As an example, you can state in the edit summary, "Attribution: text was copied from Chiang Saen District, Bangkok, and Sagaing on 10 August 2021. Please see the history of those pages for full attribution." For articles like Siamese–Vietnamese War (1769–1773), where the references are broken, you should also copy the full bibliography entry for the missing references (Damrong Rajanubhab, Buyers, and So) from the source article. And please remember to always provide attribution in the edit summary when copying content in the future. --Paul_012 (talk) 09:37, 25 September 2021 (UTC)

Bad Genius edits
Hi, I read your edit summary regarding your second reversion of my edit. The reason I had mentioned the Oxford comma inclusion when I undid your reversion was because your first reversion mentioned only the red links removal and not the comma. I accept that it was my mistake for including it when the article does not use them, as you said.
Thank you for your advice and for linking to the Manual of Style page, which states, "In general, a red link should remain in an article if it links to a title that could plausibly sustain an article, but for which there is no existing article, or article section, under any name." and "When a Wikipedian writes an article, it is common practice to link key topics pertinent to an understanding of the subject, even if those topics don't have an article on Wikipedia yet."
Here are some other relevant quotes from the Manual of Style:
"A good question to ask yourself is whether reading the article you're about to link to would help someone understand the article you are linking from." and "Overlinking in general is a style issue partly because of the undesirable effect upon readability. But if too many blue links is distracting (reducing the chance the article will be read), then a red link is even more so. The unassuming coloration of the text (probably black) is the most productive."
Some of the red links included in the article were for subjects that were not notable, or pertinent to the understanding of the article you were linking from. I removed the red links because the page has so many already, what with all the interlanguage links, which show up in red.
I also found it interesting that after you stated that I “clearly have a very poor understanding of how Wikipedia works”, you evaluated the links more carefully and removed two of the red links I had removed earlier. You may be an expert on the Manual of Style, but I suggest you read up on Wikipedia:Civility. --23:17, 4 October 2021 (UTC)Dog Starkiller (talk)
- Thanks for the message. The tone of that edit summary was indeed needlessly accusatory; sorry for that. I think we can agree that discussions on what red links should be included should focus on notability of the target subjects. --Paul_012 (talk) 02:31, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

My talk page
Hello please remove the speedy deletion- this is my personal talk page here and also please delete the User talk page: User8 my brother accidently move and click the move button thank you and also look at my user name it's PICTOPICTO thanks!
PICTOPICTO 3:45, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
- User:PICTOPICTO, the speedy deletion tag is a temporary measure in order to let an admin fix the accidental page move and restore the original page to the correct location. It shouldn't take more than a few hours.
Also, please fix your signature—it currently points to the nonexistent User:PICTO page.--Paul_012 (talk) 07:50, 8 December 2021 (UTC) - Actually on second thought, it seems better to tag this as a request for history merge, so that your talk page can still be used for communication in the mean time. I've adjusted the tag; sorry for the disruption. --Paul_012 (talk) 08:33, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

Edits in December to Chulabhorn
Hello Paul 012, I have the idea that the edits to the Chulabhorn article in this month, made by 2 IP users, and also a kind of repair edit by user Rodw, are resulting in a result that is not really correct. I don't feel capable to make te right changes, my English is not well enough. Can you take a look? --FredTC (talk) 10:49, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
- The entire passage was a copyright violation, so I removed it. If your concern was over the incorrect linking of the word aide, the fix would have been to link it as aides instead. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:56, 15 December 2021 (UTC)
Usage of Template:Official website
Thanks for your gentle note that Template:Official website should be used in the External links section while the infoboxes should use Template:URL. Could you please point me to the relevant document/discussion so that I can understand the finer detail? Because if we should use Template:URL in infoboxes so that the information is shown to readers, shouldn't the same reasoning hold for External links section as well? I am relatively new at editing and would like to gain deeper understanding of the fundamentals. Aithus (talk) 07:09, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- Hmm. This appears to be less clearly documented than I imagined. I only found some old discussions from 2009 and 2012. While they weren't clearly consensus-establishing, many editors there seemed to agree that it's beneficial to treat URLs in infoboxes as information being presented to the reader (rather than like resource links in the External links section, which WP:MOSLINK recommends should be supplied with meaningful descriptive titles). Practically, it will depend on the local consensus for each infobox. Template:Infobox company, for example, notes in its documentation to use Template:URL, while Template:Infobox television handles the link by placing it alone on the line with a predefined link text, with the intention not to show the URL. --Paul_012 (talk) 14:37, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking the time to look for items that can illuminate the issue. My takeaway from this is that I will stop using Template:Official website altogether and stick with Template:URL in most cases. Articles with complex web URLs will have to show ugly display text, however, since the optional display text parameter in Template:URL is now deprecated. Thanks again for your help. Aithus (talk) 15:01, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
Actually, not incorrect
My changes here were not mostly incorrect but it is grammar and I will not teach here. No script was used for my line edits. I will be moving on. —¿philoserf? (talk) 15:04, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
- If those were indeed manual edits I would encourage you to slow down, as they included mistakes such as:
- Changing "Rama I established the Grand Palace on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River" to "Rama, I established the Grand Palace on the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya River"
- Decapitalising one word ("Built" to "built") from an entire 53-word-long name
- Inconsistently adding Oxford commas
- Changing "The form and artistry of the image was a clear break from the previous traditional iconography of the Buddha" to "The form and artistry of the image were a clear break from the previous traditional iconography of the Buddha", when "form and artistry" refer together to a singular concept
- Changing "The new Phra Mondop discarded this feature, instead putting the library on top of a raised base" to "The new Phra Mondop discarded this feature, instead of putting the library on top of a raised base", completely reversing the meaning
- Changing one instance of "coloured" to "colored", when the rest of the entire article uses the British spelling
- Changing "these represent the white elephants important in each king's reign" to "these represent the white elephants importance in each king's reign", which was incorrect and again got the meaning completely wrong
- Changing "The chedi have a square plan with indented corners" to "The chedi has a square plan with indented corners", when chedi here is a plural
- Changing "the small structure was built" to "a small structure was built" when the structure in question is the subject being discussed
- Moving an unofficial external link above the official one, which should appear first
- I don't think that either of us needs a lesson in grammar, though more care in editing would indeed seem useful. --Paul_012 (talk) 22:31, 23 December 2021 (UTC)
Your submission at Articles for creation: Samnak Nisit Sam Yan Press (January 4)
Publishing books is one of the way to promote democracy and to challenge the authoritarian regime, which Thai people have solidarity in 2020-21 Thai political movementsand
The name, 'Sam Yan' (Thai: สามย่าน), reflects the recognition and value of the local community surrounding Chulalongkorn University. ‘Sam Yan’ community which nowadays are being destroyed through gentrification, has been losing their identities. Netiwit and friends are advocates for the University to be inclusive and value the ways of community’s life. The name also reflects their sense of belonging while they, students, face the challenges in the world.. This reflects the purpose of the article not only to promote the organization (which is seen in the typical avertisement style draft), but seeks to spread political ideologies. This is why even if I am normally more inclined to give such articles a second chance, the obviousness of such biases and the outright refusal to improve on neutrality makes it difficult for me to believe that a second decline will be sufficient the creator to fix the problem, it has to be back on the drawing board. Make no mistake, I am not here to disagree with the points made in the draft, and I have to be very clear that I am not here to prevent people from voicing their opinions or to curb freedom of speech. However, one must bear in mind Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a speaker's corner, and that everything that goes into mainspace must be accurate, neutral and verifiable. Having opiniated and biased pieces, however morally and politically correct in the eyes of some but disagreed my others risks Wikipedia becoming a battleground (one can argue it already is in some sensitive topics), and in the long run tarnishes the integrity of Wikipedia as an online encyclopedia. Thus, it would be in the best interests of the project to reject this draft.

In your edit of List of defence ministers of Thailand on 12 February 2021, you have removed the first 11 names by reasoning that they are chancellors, not ministers, whose list is covered in List of samuhakalahom. I can see the logic in your edit, but it left 2 inconsistencies in the articles:
- Internal inconsistency: The numbering now starts at 12.
- External inconsistency: The same list in th-wiki retains the 11 samuhakalahom.
So I'm thinking about putting the 11 samuhakalahom back, with a prefatory note to the effect that they are not true Minister, but their Grand Chancellor position is a precursor to the Minister position due to government reform. But I prefer to check with you first before doing so. Aithus (talk) 13:17, 21 March 2022 (UTC)
- I'm tending to disagree, simply because I think the way the Thai Wikipedia lists them is inaccurate and misleading. While the defence ministry can in some ways be seen as the spiritual successor of the office of the kalahom, the commonality is pretty much limited to their names and their use of the gajasiha seal, as the authority they held was vastly different. I'd prefer that the inconsistency be addressed internally by adjusting the numbering, and externally by splitting the list on the Thai Wikipedia as well, because it is also inconsistent with th:รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงมหาดไทยของไทย, which doesn't include the samuhanayok. I don't edit there, however, and don't really think cross-language inconsistency is a big issue. --Paul_012 (talk) 08:42, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- I will leave the list as is, then, and simply tweak the "first holder" in Infobox. Aithus (talk) 09:26, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

Thaiger
I'm curious how you see this site as a reliable source. Headline is misleading, role account created it, no editorial policy to be found, no information on company to be found and lots of sections appear to be for purposes of spam/advertising.Slywriter (talk) 23:34, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- I just didn't care enough to want to bother adding and formatting an entire new citation. Sorry for the edit summary which was rather confrontational; it just annoys me to see well-meaning established editors, especially in the course of fighting spam and fancruft, removing valid basic information which would surely be present in the article were it well developed. The date of birth of a celebrity actor is often one of the most widely published pieces of information about them, and in this case is presented in profile/interview pieces by Sanook[2] and Thairath[3] (page not currently working), and has been reported on by traditional news organisations such as TNN[4][5], Channel 3[6][7], MCOT[8], Bright TV[9], New TV[10], Daily News[11] and Thai Post[12].
- As for The Thaiger, it is an established news website, though it's better known for its English-language content. Personally I don't use their Thai stuff because better sources would usually be available, though they don't appear to be any particularly worse than the average ad-supported news site (not saying that a lot of them aren't junk though). I'm not sure what you mean by "headline is misleading", as the piece in question's directly translates as "A look at Gulf Kanawut Traipipattanapong's profile". "Information on company" is at https://thethaiger.com/contact-us . Many major news sources don't generally use bylines, so I don't see "role account" as a problem in and of itself, and while it would be nice to have editorial policy pages, that isn't the norm for Thai sources and I don't know any that do, so it's not a very useful rule to practically apply. --Paul_012 (talk) 04:46, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
- Totally agree on birthdays. Not sure I've ever looked at the source behind a birthday unless a specific dispute cropped up.
- On the misleading, it was actually a sub-headline or bolded statement that referred to the two co-starts hating each other but article doesn't appear to actually discuss. Though, I believe others have written on the matter, so not a fake news situation, just another red flag among others I saw.
- Now to the real issue, which is how to do we minimize fancruft and promotional material on the article. If sources like thaiger are standard for Thai news, then it seems almost impossible to come to a judgement of what is due based on the source alone. Or alternatively, many of these sources fail the wikipedia test of what is a reliable source and should never be used in BLP. I'm not neccessarily advocating or looking for it to come to that, just trying to determine how best to define the line between encyclopedic data and marketing/fandom material, while also not frustrating well-meaning fans.
- Also, looking through random articles on thaiger, the role account appears to be fairly rare in the entertainment and song section, so quite possible they have stopped using in recent times or its a giant flag that certain articles are just promo pieces.Slywriter (talk) 17:32, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

List of reigning monarch deaths
I want to thank you for nominating List of reigning monarch deaths for deletion. I am not sure exatly why there are only 2 entries in the 1800-1899 list. In reality we would need literally thousands there. This is a truly overly broad topic. In England/Great Britain/the United Kingdom alone there have only been maybe 3 cases in the last 1000 years where the reighing monarch was removed before death.John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:02, 27 May 2022 (UTC)
- like I said on it's talk page, what about separated by century, (i.e. List of reigning monarch deaths 1900 - 1999) is that's a good idea. also I was gradually adding stuff, that's why there's two entries on the 1800-1899 list.4me689 (talk) 18:26, 27 May 2022 (UTC)

Tagging categories for speedy deletion
Hello, Paul 012,
Categories need to be emptied before they can be deleted. Otherwise, you end up with a lot of red link categories on article pages which is a no-no according to WP:REDNO. So, as soon as you empty these categories you tagged for speedy deletion, or another editor or admin with a lot of time on their hands does, they can be deleted. Otherwise, they will probably sit in a CSD category until someone untags them. I understand there are tools that make this process easier than doing it manually, page by page, but I don't know what they are. Maybe one of the admins who patrols WP:CFD does. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 23:42, 19 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the tip. I had assumed there was some kind of tool on the admin side, though I guess Cat-a-lot could do for uncontroversial cases. The case has been brought up at ANI, though, so I'll wait for the discussion there to run its course first. --Paul_012 (talk) 15:28, 20 June 2022 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Category:I-Kiribati people in sports
A tag has been placed on Category:I-Kiribati people in sports indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! Speedy Deletion of Flags of counties of the United States
Hey I noticed you removed a speedy delete for this page. Take a look at the talk page of this article you'll note that this article was deleted on May 5, 2022 Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Flags_of_counties_of_the_United_States. Dr vulpes (💬 • 📝) 23:12, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, and you probably also noticed my explanation in the edit summary, "I don't see how G4 can apply to a newly created soft redirect, as it's the opposite of 'sufficiently identical copies'," and that CSD has also been declined by Liz. I suggest you take a closer look at the WP:CSD criteria, which states for WP:G4:
A soft redirect created at the title of a previously deleted article can in no way be considered substantially identical. There's a lot of blatant misuse of G4 going on, which needs to stop. --Paul_012 (talk) 04:02, 9 July 2022 (UTC)Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion: This applies to sufficiently identical copies, having any title, of a page deleted via its most recent deletion discussion. It excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version, pages to which the reason for the deletion no longer applies, and content that has been moved to user space or converted to a draft for explicit improvement (but not simply to circumvent Wikipedia's deletion policy). This criterion also does not cover content undeleted via a deletion review, or that was only deleted via proposed deletion (including deletion discussions closed as "soft delete") or speedy deletion.

- You're welcome, but I must tell you that I don't actually intend to speak on your behalf, or directly help improve the pages you've created. As for the way forward, there are a few options. You could submit the drafts through the Articles for Creation process and wait for them to be reviewed, though this might take quite some time. You could ask at the WP:Teahouse for specific suggestions on how to write articles that are more likely to be accepted. And you could make a post at WT:New pages patrol/Reviewers asking for a second opinion over the draftifications and whether they were appropriate. But you should be aware that paid promotional editing is a serious issue on Wikipedia, and many editors will expect a high level of scrutiny before they are satisfied. --Paul_012 (talk) 18:34, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
From Wikipedia: Quotation, "Editors are advised to exercise good judgment and to remain mindful that while brief excerpts are permitted by policy, extensive quotations are forbidden." That quote was longer than the rest of the article. Paraphrase and use shorter quote. Doczilla @SUPERHEROLOGIST 08:53, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- Please take a closer look before being so quick to remove material and revert next time. You should probably know that there is no policy-based restriction on incorporating material from Public Domain sources. --Paul_012 (talk) 08:55, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- You have me on the copyright issue. That's correct. It's still weak writing for a quote to take up the majority of an article. Still, I see that you created the article and may feel proprietary about it. I'm not touching it again. Doczilla @SUPERHEROLOGIST 09:08, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
- Of course It's preferable that the content be re-written in Wikipedia's voice base on the information. The problem to me is that with the bulk of the information coming from the dated source, it's rather tricky to place in context for the modern reader, so directly quoting was the simplest way to convey the information. Others are of course welcome to help rewrite and contextualise the text, but I do think that outright removal would be detrimental rather than constructive here. --Paul_012 (talk) 09:19, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

Si Thep Historical Park
Hi, thanks for editing the WHS list. There is currently no dedicated article on the historical park, so the link is a redirect. Perhaps you could start the article? Tone 09:59, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- I don't have the time just now, but I'll try and see what I can do later. On another note, I'm curious of when and why the former tentative site "Phimai, its Cultural Route and the Associated Temples of Phanomroong and Muangtam" was withdrawn and replaced with "Ensemble of Phanom Rung, Muang Tam and Plai Bat Sanctuaries", but Google is failing me. Might be something to add to the list article if you can find the information. --Paul_012 (talk) 10:09, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- PS Apparently this is discussed in detail in a paper by Saowalux Poshyanandana, "Ensemble of Phanom Rung, Muang Tam and Plai Bat Sanctuaries and the Phimai Cultural Route: Comparative Study and Future Expectation in World Heritage Context", which has been indexed on Scilit but is returning a 404 error on the publisher's site. Not sure if it was retracted or just a technical error or what. --Paul_012 (talk) 10:19, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
- Sometimes they discuss tentative sites and decide that the nomination has to be updated to have more chances of succeeding. Often, UNESCO has the changes documented somewhere but it's probably quite a search :) Tone 14:13, 14 August 2022 (UTC)
Hong Taechawanit
Hello Paul, I recall your major help several years back when I was drumming up an article on Si Prat. How nice for us to cross paths again and your Thai expertise continues to be invaluable! However, I wonder if clarifications like giving the official surname spelling "Tejavanija", while very helpful, would currently border on OR given that the source only provides "Taechawanit". I also wonder if you might have the time to find and include Thai sources. Thank you once again, the article is looking much nicer since you gave it your magic touch :) Kingoflettuce (talk) 12:10, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- I find the fact that there's a Bangkok temple dedicated to him particularly interesting, though there isn't much on that in the English sources I can find Kingoflettuce (talk) 12:16, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- No problem. I've added the citation for the name spelling. There are quite a few Thai sources, but the information might require a bit disentangling and contextualization—there are several conflicting accounts on his early life, some of which say that he was born in Thailand—I'll see what I can find.
- The mentioned temple I think is the shrine on the roof of the Phlapphla Chai Police Station. When the original mansion was demolished and rebuilt as a modern building sometime later, they included the shrine as a memorial to him.
- Incidentally, I notice that you're not in the WP:Autopatrolled user group. If you don't mind, I'd like to suggest your name at WP:PERM/A. Among other things, it'll mean the articles you create will be indexed by search engines right away rather than having to wait until an NPR marks them as reviewed. --Paul_012 (talk) 17:19, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

Having the documentation directly on the template page is probably a bit confusing to editors not familiar with the old system from over a decade ago. It can just be re-redirected if discussion leads otherwise. --Paul_012 (talk) 10:40, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
Particularly egregious errors
Regarding source-attribution
. On my talk page you wrote: "Your changes caused particularly egregious errors in articles where the citation is placed at the end of a sentence introducing the quoted material, which made the text wholly nonsensical." I do not understand that sentence. To help me understand please link to an example of such a change that I have made, so I can give an constructive reply. -- PBS (talk) 08:17, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- See for example Harry A. Badman & Co., where the attributing citation accompanies the short introductory paragraph, "The 1908 publication Twentieth Century Impressions of Siam describes the business as follows", which is then followed by the quote. (This is the format recommended by MOS:BLOCKQUOTE.) Converting the citation to say "One or more of the preceding sentences incorporates text from this source" made it incorrect, since the incorporated text follows the footnote and is not in the "one or more of the preceding sentences".
- The same applies to many demographics articles, e.g. Demographics of Burkina Faso, your edits to which I've reverted. The citation footnote follows the introductory paragraph that says, "The following demographic statistics are from the CIA World Factbook, unless otherwise indicated." Converting the citation template broke the attribution. --Paul_012 (talk) 10:40, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- In the Harry A. Badman & Co. article the inline citation is for a blockquote so there is no need for a plagiarism attribution. Those attributions are only for text copied from another source that appears to be text created by Wikipedia editors. So is there any need to keep that attribution in the inline citations? -- PBS (talk) 10:55, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- The quote is extensive. What else is going to let the reader know that the large quotation does not constitute a copyright violation since the source is out of copyright? The copyvio detection tools do not distinguish between text inside and outside a block quotation and will throw false positives at instances like this, so there needs to be ample explanation. (Even with the notice, another editor still made the mistake; see #Harry A. Badman & Co. above.) --Paul_012 (talk) 11:04, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- I understand your position on this. I tend to agree with User:Doczilla (it should be placed outside a block quote and modified). One of the reasons why Wikisource was created was so that large PD blockquotes could be lodged there and then the content can be linked from Wikipedia if that is deemed necessary, because of Wikipedia is not a repository However it is a edge case and you obviously have stronger feelings about it than I do.
- But putting that aside I agree that the wording of citation-attribution is inappropriate for the citation in its current location. If you wish to keep it there and not place it at the end of the blockquote, then instead of citation-attribution source-attribution ought to be used and the plagiarism attribution string should be before the citation to the source not after it. -- PBS (talk) 11:32, 24 September 2022 (UTC)

I agree with you observation about Demographics of Burkina Faso in such cases I will use source-attribution where appropriate. -- PBS (talk) 11:38, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- "The plagiarism attribution string should be before the citation to the source not after it." – I don't know if there's consensus in support of enforcing this format as the only standard. The recommendation back when PD-notice was a separate template had long been to place it after the source citation, and there are people who think it reads more naturally that way, as evidenced by another recent post on your talk page. Has this been written down as a guideline, or is there clear consensus in support of this? Can you point me to such documentation or discussion? --Paul_012 (talk) 12:00, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
- see Category:Attribution templates are there any templates where the attribution comes after the citation? For example one with which you are familiar is:
CIA World Factbook
- which displays as:
- This article incorporates public domain material from The World Factbook. CIA.
- This is intentional so that the attribution is clearly visible. This is also why in a bullet list of references the references that have text copied from them should be placed at the bottom with a bold Attribution: placed before them. This prominence was intentional because many editors do not like text being copied into Wikipedia from other sources and argued that it was plagiarism. the counter argument is it is not plagiarism if the footnotes and appendices clearly annotate that the text is copied from a source. It is (much?) clear if it is placed before the source .
- Having said that "I don't know if there's consensus in support of enforcing this format as the only standard" of course there is no enforcement of the consensus view. Wikipedia does not work that way. -- PBS (talk) 12:25, 24 September 2022 (UTC)
Proper name
Hi Paul, pls help me to translate "พี่สาวตุ๊กตาไม้" for Sister Wooden Doll. Please expand if you find out any information. Thanks Taung Tan (talk) 08:00, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- I do question whether the subject actually satisfies the notability guidelines. It appears to have been a fad that briefly made the news, as a lot of superstitious stuff regularly does in Thailand. Anyway, it's not known as "พี่สาวตุ๊กตาไม้" but simply "พี่สาว" (sister). The ตุ๊กตาไม้ (wooden doll) is a descriptor. --Paul_012 (talk) 13:14, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- Umm She is also popular in my country. The figure is documented by major newspapers from Thailand. It is not enough to establish notability? Deitys are auto notable on Wikipedia as I noted. why not ? Taung Tan (talk) 15:28, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- A lot of stuff makes the news, but not all of it is considered notable in Wikipedia terms. It's a bit early to tell, but I don't think the subject looks like something that will generate WP:sustained coverage going forward, nor does the reported craze appear likely to have WP:lasting effects. Most of the coverage is about people clamoring for lucky lottery numbers. The wooden figure itself isn't so much a recognised folk deity but more regarded as a local spirit, the likes of which are usually considered to be everywhere. I won't suggest deletion just now, but this may need to be revisited in a few months/years to see if further sources are forthcoming. --Paul_012 (talk) 04:17, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. The article is currently in draft. I think she should be notable because of her many laureate followers from many countries; Burmese celebrities have also visited her shrine. I know that there are many local spirits in Thailand, but she is different. Taung Tan (talk) 06:40, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

Sorry about that, missed the VOA PD info. Technically there should be PD template in the article, which is why I overlooked it. Onel5969 TT me 11:42, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- That's understandable. I only realised that when I was about to blank the section. Were you using Earwig? It seems a bit strange that it doesn't have VOA whitelisted. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:46, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- Ah, but VOA does use third-party content from news agencies, so it's probably something that requires manually checking. Never mind then. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:50, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, I was using Earwig. Regardless, thanks for all you do here on WP. See your name quite a bit. Always a pleasure. Onel5969 TT me 12:01, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- You're welcome, and a huge thanks to you too for the tireless work you do at NPP. I realise a lot of our interactions have been reversions in cases where we disagree, but I hope they're seen as helping to check for misses, which are inevitable when going through such a huge amount of articles. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:45, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- I don't give empty platitudes. I meant it when I thanked you. Even when editors disagree, they can do so in the hopes that they are both working to improve the project, and you obviously are. Onel5969 TT me 12:47, 18 November 2022 (UTC)

Bangkok. Any chance we could edit the K to a G.
Any chance we could edit the K to a G? As it is pronounced with a G sound. Go Gai is a G after all. When google or Siri read me the page they both say Kreng Thep like it’s a Koh Kai which it obviously is not. 42.115.163.3 (talk) 16:20, 23 December 2022 (UTC)
- No, not really. You might like to take a look at the Romanization of Thai article for an overview explanation of how the various spelling systems work. Machine text-to-speech systems aren't developed enough to recognise them, but deviating from established romanization systems won't solve the issue. --Paul_012 (talk) 08:20, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
