  • If you post a message on this page, I'll reply on this page to avoid fragmenting the discussion.
  • If I've left you a message on your talk page, I will be watching it, so please reply there rather than here (but do feel free to drop a copy of {{Talkback}} here).
  • If appropriate, I will move discussion from here to the relevant article's talk page, so that anyone interested can join in.
  • If you want to start a new discussion thread, please start it at the bottom of the page. Better still, use the "new section" tab next to the "edit this page" tab, or the link at the foot of this section, either of which will do that automatically.
  • Please do not make links from within section headings.
  • Inaccessible HTML (coloured text, "small" tags, etc.) will be removed from this page on sight. Broken heading or list structures will be fixed.
  • Please sign and date your entries by inserting four tildes (~~~~) at the end.

Perran Moon

edit

Hello Andy, the outstanding COI issue on the Perran Moon article was the ongoing talk page discussion re: whether some criticism repeatedly removed by apparent COI users ought to be reinstated. That was the reason why I didn't remove the COI tag. My impression is that the tag ought to remain until that issue is resolved, but I would (as ever) be grateful for your thoughts. Best wishes, Axad12 (talk) 18:56, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I referred in my edit summary to the template's documentation, It requires "if you place this tag, you should promptly start a discussion on the article's talk page to explain what is non-neutral about the article". The discussion to which you refer does not justify the use of the template, Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:18, 29 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for getting back to me on this Andy.
In fairness, the talk page discussion does note There seems to have been quite a lot of conflict of interest editing on this article recently and that With regard to the block of text (with reference) that has now been removed 3 times in the last 24 hours re: the subject's name... [lets] see if we can get some sort of consensus here.
So that does seem to me to be fairly clear re: what is non-neutral about the article and to be a genuine attempt at addressing it.
Admittedly the issue on non-neutrality is in relation to material that has been removed, rather than material which currently exists within the article, but the effect surely is the same.
There is an ongoing discussion taking place with a view to resolving that issue, so it does seem to me that the tag is merited in the short term and that I've done what the template documentation requires.
I'd therefore be grateful if you would consider either re-adding the tag, or allowing me to do so. Axad12 (talk) 03:03, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
That reads more like "is the article non-neutral?" than "the article is non-neutral because...". Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:00, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that's a very fair point. I'll take that on board for the future.
I looked at the edit history for that article earlier today and I think that Melcous has done a great job of reworking the contested material into something that both sides can probably agree on. That being the case, I suspect that any COI concerns are probably resolved, at least for the time being.
Thanks for your input here, much appreciated. Axad12 (talk) 14:38, 30 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
