Tip of the moment...
Article development

Newly created articles are checked for obvious problems by members of the New pages patrol. These editors collaborate to identify articles which do not meet the criteria for inclusion and/or to tag them for any glaring issues that need attention. Article classification codes are assigned (on the article's talk page) based on an assessment of the article's quality. The assessment class codes may be updated by any contributor as the article is improved.

Typically, an article may begin with a Stub-class or Start-class code and be upgraded to C-class, then B-class as the article becomes more complete. Next, an article might be submitted to the peer review process to receive ideas and critical feedback from other editors. Upon successful completion of the peer review, an article might then be nominated for GA-Class (Good Article) status. At each step, the nominator is expected to implement the feedback they receive.

Articles achieving GA status are then potential candidates for FA-Class (Featured Article) status. Examples of featured articles are viewable daily at Wikipedia's Main Page.

Hello!

Hi howz things. Today I've started a series on rice production. Check out all the new articles at Template:Rice production. I started Rice production in Bhutan first, so perhaps this can be developed into a DYK. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:48, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Nadar RFC and the RFCU

Don't let it get to you. The RFCU is obviously frivolous (unless you're some kind of sock puppet superman!) and your Nadar RFC is obviously a good faith attempt to resolve a dispute. --RegentsPark (My narrowboat) 13:12, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes, you're right! Frankly speaking, I don't bother much about these wierdos who roam the internet. I only edit these articles on caste and others connected with WP:INTN such as those on politics, history, etc. to improve their quality. And the presence of POV and unreliable refs definitely impedes their progress in the quality scale. Of course, have a look at this article which I took to GA. I had to battle a hell lot of vandals and POV-pushers to get this article to GA-status. Well, but it does irk me when someone tries to use my participation in editing or dispute resolution work on sensitive issues to malign my image. Also, due to personal callings, I may have to reduce my Wiki-work a bit and therefore I may not be able to keep track of the discussions. By the way, I've already explained my stand and made my suggestions on the talk page. I'm sure they are perfectly neutral. I've also suggested an alternate rewording with the help of existing sources and mentioned other issues that need to be looked into.-The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 02:19, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Arbitration

did u see this? --Docku: What's up? 12:31, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Let him whatever he likes. His only contribution to Wikipedia has been to start ridiculous check-user cases and sockpuppet investigations. Now, I have made 20,100 edits and created over 200 articles. What has ShivNarayanan ever done for this project than starting ridiculous checkuser cases and approaching the arbitration committee just for the sake of cheap publicity. You know, I barely had an hour's sleep on Wednesday. I strongly insist that ShivNarayanan be blocked for indulging in persistent harrasment and disruptive editing. Now, I've been responsible for writing gems of articles as Iyer and Madras Presidency. Do have a look at the Iyer article. Has this guy ShivNarayanan ever written such a good, neutral article. -The EnforcerOffice of the secret service 13:01, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Sir S. Subramania Iyer

Thanks a lot for your compliments. First, about Sooravali Subbier, as his name is generally spelt in our family records - Subbaiah Aiyer is the name he seems to have been given, the Subbaiah later being modified to Subbier, perhaps as an honorific. As for expanding the article further, it certainly will take me much longer than four more days - given the time I have needed to peruse old books and records, talk to old people in the family, etc. Perhaps another month and I can find some more of his speeches, but I doubt I can add much else, barring perhaps his sons' names, one of whom was my fore-father. If you do find something about the Grand Old Man, let me know, I could perhaps link it up with some other unrelated statement I have been able to uncover. And thanks again. Voltigeur (talk) 18:47, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

I did go through the 'Heroes' series but not in such detail as to yield anything more than I had already accumulated. I shall peruse and see if I can obtain anything more. And, as for the Madras Presidency article, I thank you for bringing it to my attention. I shall read through it and make changes, if any are required, within the fortnight. Signature

Can you please change your signature so its not so big? Just use normal size fonts like the rest of us. :) When you make it better then normal size fonts, it screws up the spacing between lines. I went ahead and fixed it on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ravichandar84 Thanks :) —— nixeagleemail me 05:03, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I simply changed it so I could read the page easier, I'm in the middle of reviewing that case.... lots of text :(. Being as I did not know you were online, I simply just fixed it myself, its a wiki after all ;). —— nixeagleemail me 05:24, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Vellore Mutiny

I have been revising the History section of the Madras Presidency article and in the course of it found that somebody has shifted the article on the Vellore Mutiny to a location labelled Vellore Revolt. To anybody in the least familiar with the incident in question, it will be obvious that the occurrence was purely military in nature and that it did not involve any civilian rebelling, which would merit the term revolt. I suspect that someone, excessively patriotic, is behind the move. Besides being confusing in the extreme, Vellore Mutiny being the commonly used term, it introduces the entirely new concept of the Vellore Revolt.

I suggest that the page be moved back to its original location. If you concur with me, I request you to get the same done, since I do not know how to re-direct a page. Voltigeur (talk) 18:25, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
