Unexplained content removal

edit

Please see WP:RMV, always need an edit summary explaining why you're removing something when deleting content. I'm not gonna revert your revert since that would be pointless because I can see why the content was removed, but wouldn't have been a problem if an edit summary had been used in the first place. But ″that was a good edit″ is not an explanation either. --TylerBurden (talk) 07:50, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Well I don't consider that edit "content removal", considering it was just a link that was edited, and the article remained visibly unchanged. I think common sense should be shown here, rather than just blindly reverting edits that don't have an edit summary. Steelkamp (talk) 07:55, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Not blindly when it's altering the link, removing words from it which can change the whole thing even if in this case it was constructive. Takes 10 seconds or less to write an edit summary (you even wrote one, just didn't explain anything) but it's no biggie. I came across it from recent changes since the editor that initially removed it was mass deleting content on a different article so I figured the edit may have been unconstructive and didn't see exactly what it did until you reverted me. But yes I probably jumped the gun a bit as well, I can fix it on some other articles as well that I reverted. --TylerBurden (talk) 08:15, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
I understand now, fair enough on your part. Yes, that would be good if you could reinstate the Kalgoorlie edits. Steelkamp (talk) 08:16, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
All done now, sorry for the misunderstanding and happy editing mate. --TylerBurden (talk) 08:20, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2022 March newsletter

edit

And so ends the first round of the WikiCup. Last year anyone who scored more than zero points moved on to Round 2, but this was not the case this year, and a score of 13 or more was required to proceed. The top scorers in Round 1 were:

  •   Epicgenius, a finalist last year, who led the field with 1906 points, gained from 32 GAs and 19 DYKs, all on the topic of New York buildings.
  •   AryKun, new to the contest, was second with 1588 points, having achieved 2 FAs, 11 GAs and various other submissions, mostly on the subject of birds.
  •   Bloom6132, a WikiCup veteran, was in third place with 682 points, garnered from 51 In the news items and several DYKs.
  •   GhostRiver was close behind with 679 points, gained from achieving 12 GAs, mostly on ice hockey players, and 35 GARs.
  •   Kavyansh.Singh was in fifth place with 551 points, with an FA, a FL, and many reviews.
  •   SounderBruce was next with 454 points, gained from an FA and various other submissions, mostly on United States highways.
  •   Ktin, another WikiCup veteran, was in seventh place with 412 points, mostly gained from In the news items.

These contestants, like all the others who qualified for Round 2, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews of a large number of good articles as the contest ran concurrently with a GAN backlog drive. Well done all! To qualify for Round 3, contestants will need to finish Round 2 among the top thirty-two participants.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Anything that should have been claimed for in Round 1 is no longer eligible for points. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.

Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! playing around with the west oz project page (again?) JarrahTree 02:15, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Just one small change. Steelkamp (talk) 02:16, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
insufficiently explained - project pages are relatively sacrosanct in that they reflect things about how and what happened (or didnt) they are in most cases not for tinkling... JarrahTree 02:19, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
Its just that before, if someone were to nominate a featured article candidate/featured list candidate/featured sound candidate, then it would be put on that page by the bot. I think that only articles that have passed being a candidate should be on the list, considering it is meant to show off the project's recognised content, not potentially recognised content. Steelkamp (talk) 02:23, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
ahah there's your trap - what happens is that many projects have potential/proposed actions pending community response -

a good sample would be - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Indonesia

where many nominations and candidates are listed in the due process of things

proposed
nominees
for discussion

Project pages are process pages and in many cases inert waiting for the person to come - and many cases nothing happens - very much waiting for godot territory - again, just be patient and try playing with something else... JarrahTree 02:33, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Wikiproject Indonesia doesn't have Featured Article/List Candidates under recognised content. It does have it at article alerts, which is different. Article alerts is a better place for Featured Article/List Candidates than recognised content, which should really be for content that has passed a set of assessment processes. WP:WA already has article alerts, so there shouldn't be a need to have FAC/FLCs at recognised content.. Steelkamp (talk) 02:44, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
fair enough - (lost longer reply from technical hitch my end) - keep up the good work whatever... JarrahTree 05:09, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

There was another version [5] (not, in first sentence) and also, this version it did not function for a long time. The guidelines (WP:CYCLE etc) are there to avoid conflicts. In this situation, you did not have the right to restore the new version, because it is not a stable version (a year ago there was another version and it was not functional for a long time). This is not about "I won't revert you again". I have restored stable vrsion twice, I will not restore it a third time. Assume good faith? Ok, so let's assume it's just your mistake (no trolling, no problem) but You should undo your change yourself as "mistake". Subtropical-man ( | en-2) 19:14, 25 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

as I said earlier this am (above) the average reader number for the wa notice board is about 3 a day - the project has died a natural death of editors losing interest/real life - if you want to actually get a response - the national notice board might get someone - but even then some items put there recently dont get a response at all - its the sign of the times sadly, lots of watchers but very few get involved any more - or maybe even better to hone skills of negotiation with other editosr than to call in what used to be the crowd - all silent now (it seems) JarrahTree 06:08, 26 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

even if I do - thats missing the point - where the item is a mix of source/data - well worth having a closer look at the edit history and querying the creator - or co-creators - they in most cases would have an easier and quicker reference to the reasonings you are asking about... WikiCup 2022 May newsletter

edit

The second round of the 2022 WikiCup has now finished. It was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 115 points to advance to round 3. There were some very impressive efforts in round 2, with the top seven contestants all scoring more than 500 points. A large number of the points came from the 11 featured articles and the 79 good articles achieved in total by contestants.

Our top scorers in round 2 were:

  1.   Epicgenius, with 1264 points from 2 featured article, 4 good articles and 18 DYKs. Epicgenius was a finalist last year but has now withdrawn from the contest as he pursues a new career path.
  2.   AryKun, with 1172 points from two featured articles, one good article and a substantial number of featured article and good article reviews.
  3.   Bloom6132, with 605 points from 44 in the news items and 4 DYKs.
  4.   Sammi Brie, with 573 points from 8 GAs and 21 DYKs.
  5.   Ealdgyth, with 567 points from 11 GAs and 34 good and featured article reviews.
  6.   Panini!, with 549 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and several other sources.
  7.   Lee Vilenski, with 545 points from 1 FA, 4 GAs and a number of reviews.

The rules for featured and good article reviews require the review to be of sufficient length; brief quick fails and very short reviews will generally not be awarded points. Remember also that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them. When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! 'perthbus.info is not a reliable source'

edit

Hi, I just noticed your deletion of a significant amount of information on the Transperth page last month. I somewhat agree that the information wasn't of particular importance but I couldn't help but notice the reasoning you gave as ' perthbus.info is not a reliable source '.

Could you please explain to me how you arrived at that conclusion? As one of the people who takes great care in ensuring information on that site is as current and updated as possible, I am very keen to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Regards,

SquiddyFish (talk) 14:19, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Certainly. The problem with perthbus.info is that it is a fansite. Content is generated by fans like you, and there is nothing official about it. This violates WP:SELFPUBLISH, which only allows self published sources to cite information about oneself or if the publisher is a subject matter expert.
Not saying that the website is wrong or that you are contributing wrong information to it, but for Wikipedia's purposes, the website is not reliable. Steelkamp (talk) 14:52, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Irrespective of the source, the information I removed was too detailed and was unencyclopedic. Information like "11.5m Midi version with no rear window also built" and "Buses from 2016 onwards are equipped with white LED destination blinds and USB charging ports" is not needed. If information on Transperth's bus fleet were to be added back in, then it would have to be sourced to Transperth/the PTA/Government Media Statements. As far as I know, there are no reliable sources for bus withdrawals, but there is for buses being introduced. WA Government Media Statements has information on this, including [6], [7] and many more. The manufacturer's website can also be used. See [8]. Steelkamp (talk) 15:06, 18 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. I'm not at all invested into Wikipedia (as you can probably tell by me taking five days to respond!) and totally agree on those statements you pointed out being unnecessary. I must admit I'm a bit hesitant to agree on your stance that the website is unreliable for the relatively innocent purpose of tracking the number of buses in a fleet (though perhaps even that was unnecessary information for this purpose as well...), as this information is relatively easy to prove/disprove just by going out on the street!
But I digress, I see your point and won't try and argue against a clearly devoted editor like yourself, I was just curious to hear your thoughts.
Cheers!

If you'll review the sources, you will see that the Elizabeth line is indeed groundbreaking according to reliable sources. @Sdinesh2222: No, it is not mandatory but I would use caution if there wasn't an article as it is not clear if the term "Inner Metropolitan Melbourne" is an actual region or just a neologism or not even a term people use. Thanks a lot, yes I will double check. Inner-Metro was a defined region in one of the Victorian Government's planning side so I figured it was the official and legal regional boundary for the Cartlon suburb. I have the link here.

In your opinion of the two articles 'new metronet' and 'metronet' they both read like PR pieces JarrahTree 08:24, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

They are short articles but they seem fine for their length. I suppose you could read the lead of the New Metrorail article as promotional, but the rest of that article and the Metronet article is just a list of projects. If the Metronet article were to be expanded, then it should definitely mention some of the criticisms such as cost overruns and delays. I've been meaning to expand that article for a while. The Sunday Times had a good article on this on 27 February 2022. Steelkamp (talk) 08:36, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
well from where I read them - dot lists of projects (irony that the title new is the superseded agency) - expansion and placement in that they are part contemporary political dialogues, with little else of substance, I hope you get around to it - they seem anachronisms of a style of article long past their use by date JarrahTree 08:45, 24 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Undid revision to 2021 Western Australian State Election

edit

Hi, I noticed that you reverted my edit to the 2021 Western Australian state election. The main point seemed to be regarding the explanation of the significance and meaning of the table.

Personally I felt that the line at the bottom of the table,

"The Gallagher Index ranges from 0 to 100. Low indexes (close to 0) are very proportionate, high indexes (20 or greater) are very disproportionate"

was sufficient to explain what the number (25.71) meant, as well as why it was significant (i.e. 25.71 is above 20, therefore the election is very disproportionate, as party seat percentage vary drastically from their vote percentages). The rest of the figures in the table are either raw data from the results table (votes and seats) or calculated from that data as indicated in each column/row title.

As a result I would appreciate your input into how I could make this clearer.

Regarding the other point, citations, I didn't think them necessary since all of the raw data was sourced from the (cited) results table on the page, however, I will add an input for them to the template, as there is no reason not to.

Regards, Kermanbob (talk) 13:41, 5 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

We shouldn't have that table unless there are reliable sources that use that table. Calculating those figures from the results is WP:SYNTH. The Gallagher Index ranges from 0 to 100. Low indexes (close to 0) are very proportionate, high indexes (20 or greater) are very disproportionate. That statement has no source. Those seem like arbitrary numbers that have no reason behind them. There is no comparison with other Australian elections so the numbers in the table don't really mean anything to someone reading the article.
Also, that table is being used to construct a narrative that the seat totals of that election are disproportionate to the vote counts of that election. We really need sources to show that is the case, and show that this table is a reasonable thing to include, otherwise it is original research. Steelkamp (talk) 08:26, 6 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I would argue that other it would not by WP:SYNTH, first, as each of the individual calculation steps is shown, I would believe it to be covered under WP:CALC. Second, and more significantly, these tables are present across a vast number of articles, with many having remained for years.
An example is the one on the 2012 Queensland state election, which remained for just over 10 years (as an image)from when it was added [10] until my edit to make it a wikitable using the same template as here. That table had no citations, and the only website that I managed to find even talking about that election being disproportionate is not really suitable for citation ([11]), and does not even mention the index. Despite this, it has, as mentioned, lasted for 10 years without objection from other editors, alongside numerous other tables on other pages (wikimedia commons has a category full of them [12]), hence why I felt it suitable to include here.
Regarding the captioning, would it be improved with a caption such as:
"The Gallagher Index ranges from 0 to 100. The greater the index, the less proportional the seat distribution was. The index scored for this election, 25.71, was greater than many other Australian elections, such as the 2019 federal election which had an index of 12.35.[1]"
as this adds comparison to Australian elections, and removes any signposted values.
Regarding the table creating a narrative, I would argue that it is simply an alternative an simple way of expressing some of the data in the table, similar in nature to the 2 layered pie chart towards the top left corner of this [13] diagram for the 2022 Northern Ireland Assembly election. It is factual that the seat percentages are not identical to the (first preference) vote percentages, and this index is just one way of quantising that difference.

you should put your GA skills to Avon, Narrogin and Merredin - in their day important railway locations of their sorts - as they stand they are crap (the articles) to use politest language. The marshalling yard in Avon is being revitalised after being butchered, but Narrogin and Merredin locations are decimated. The dreams and hopes of the Merredin yard were taken out by the loss of the feeder lines, and the Wagin book by Peter Gould Gould, Peter (2017), Lakes and rails : Wagin's railway history (Revised ed.), Peter Gould, ISBN 978-0-648-22560-7 (in its own bizarre way a history of narrogin),

but no one has really tackled the Avon yard/Northam complex that I know of. JarrahTree 09:51, 22 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

daglish railway station

edit

hello, Steelkamp! i had a quick question regarding this article and the associated blurb. the article on the airport line mentions that the line will be opening on the day the blurb runs, with regular services commencing the day after. sources from transperth and metronet appear to confirm this, while a my say transport source suggests that a train will run on opening day, albeit not part of regular services. would it be more appropriate to state that daglish station is on the airport line as of the official opening day, rather than the day regular services commence? dying (talk) 08:54, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Dying: frustratingly, most sources are quite vague on proceedings for the 9th of October, with some saying the line opens on 9 October and some saying it opens on 10 October. But according to this timetable on the Transperth website (you might have to change the date and time to see what I mean), Airport line services on 9 October will only run between High Wycombe and Perth stations, not to Daglish or further. The first Airport line train to serve Daglish will be at 6:01 am UTC+8:00 on 10 October. Thus, Daglish station will be served by Airport line services for two hours whilst on the main page. I don't know if its normal to change the blurb like that whilst the article is on the main page, but the present blurb appears to be accurate for 22 out of the 24 hours the article will be on the main page. oh, nice analysis! i had admittedly assumed that, on a line's official opening date, all the stations that would be served by that line once regular services commenced would be considered part of that line. however, you make the excellent point that, if only some of the stations are served on opening day, it is possible that the other stations would not be considered part of that line until after opening day. (if a station is planned to be part of a line, but no trains are around to serve it, is it on the line?)
also, blurbs are sometimes edited whilst on the main page if a request is posted to wp:errors, though i suspect that since a proper update in this case would be somewhat involved, require a bit of research by the administrator handling the request to confirm its validity, and only affect the main page for a couple of hours at most, such a request may simply be ignored. i do not recall any recent tfa blurbs being updated whilst on the main page due to events that occurred on that day, so i do not think you have any obligation to keep the blurb updated. (earlier this week, a dyk hook on the london marathon being held that day was not updated once the marathon had finished.) however, if you prefer that the blurb receive an update, it may be better to post to wp:errors earlier rather than later, and with a clear rewrite of the blurb so that the answering administrator doesn't have to figure out how best to rewrite it.
anyway, thanks for addressing the issue i raised. hope this helps! dying (talk) 12:57, 8 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'm fine with the blurb not having an update. It still makes sense even after the line has opened. Steelkamp (talk) 16:22, 8 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Thank you today for the article "about a small railway station in Perth, Western Australia. With not much changing about it since it was built in the 1920s, it is quite a short article. With eight railway station good articles, I figured I must get at least one as a featured article, to make sure I'm getting the structure and everything else right. I have used the feedback given to me by my eight station good article reviews to improve this article to hopefully make this my first featured article."! - Great work! Looking at all the GAs, there's potential for more. Enjoy your first TFA! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:40, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

sports and railways in Western Australia

Thank you for quality articles around Western Australia, especially stations such as Daglish railway station, Clarkson railway station, Perth, and Sherwood railway station, Perth, for 2021 West Coast Eagles women's season, for quality reviewing, for a userpage of articles alone, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

You are recipient no. 2768 of Precious, a prize of QAI. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:32, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Big day. First I get my first TFA, then I go out to take some photos of three new train stations, then I come home to this! Thank you very much. Steelkamp (talk) 10:17, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

DYK for Airport Central railway station

edit

On 9 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Airport Central railway station, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Perth's Airport Central railway station, which opens today, has the longest operating escalators in the southern hemisphere? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Airport Central railway station. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Airport Central railway station), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

running alongside that line to Perth station, before running alongside the

I had sent an earlier message this am - and it was intended for the array of modifications and various misdemenours that follow when an article is thrown into the larger soup - and I am sure it will be ongoing over time, considering the incomplete feeling say, that the bayswater stations surrounds emanate for instance. It was not agin your personal edits, but the range of fiddling with the long delay in the line and related issues arising from an intriguing field of editors other than yourself.

The map as presented inside the passenger stock doing the railway lines, has the airport line to claremont as if they are separate lines... intriguing, and my comment this am was related to a certain disbelief that transperth has been constructing a separate line within the metro rail system. The maps do not represent the structures but the operations, and

it is surprising that there hasnt been more about it - unless someone can show me photos that show that Transperth has in fact been constructing a third line where there has been only two...

Apart from that I must note serious appreciation for the extent of contributions on commons towards the record for the new line and works by yourself, Callistemon and Evad - the comprehensive work that you all have done for a good record of an important stage in the development of railway structures in Perth - a big thanks! It had been a concern during the initial stages of the recent covid shut down that there was insufficient evidence of the changes/transformations - yours and others work have it well covered! Thanks for that. JarrahTree 08:29, 10 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

WikiCup 2022 November newsletter

  •   Bloom6132 (1732), who specialised in "In the news" items and DYKs, and who has reached the final round of the Cup for the past three years. Next was
  •   BennyOnTheLoose (1238), another cue sports enthusiast, also interested in songs, followed by
  •   Muboshgu (1082), an "In the news" contributor, a seasoned contestant who first took part in the Cup ten years ago. Other finalists were

Well done everyone! All those who reached the final round will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation and review. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or the overall leader in this field.

You should archive your talk page sometime

edit

OK so you found some redeeeming features, well done, but that should not encourage rampant creation of dubious stubs - nor should adding all the requirements be something that you or others have to add to make it a workable stub. I do not have the intention of retracting anything that I have stated on wiki - and even the spelling of the word vain has me somewhat concerned... So thanks for cleaning it up, but... JarrahTree 09:52, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

I agree, it should probably be deleted and I agree with your comments. I wanted to get all the sources on the table first though.
It doesn't seem like the article could be expanded much further. The heritage listing is short and the station is not even on the State Register of Heritage Places. There aren't really any other sources that give the station significant coverage. Given the size, all the details here could be included in the locality article. Also, [14] doesn't strike me as a reliable source. Steelkamp (talk) 10:02, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Well I was going to give myself a day to decide, but keeping it's fine too. It was a borderline case. Steelkamp (talk) 10:15, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Nope not borderline at all - I was having a senior moment when I did the prod/afd (sincere apologies to all and sundry about that)
I had forgotten its importance as Jarrahdale Junction - the only part of the south west railway that was traversed by private timber companies up until 1962 (1872 even before the south west line was built)-
The Jarrahdale to Rockingham railway line is in itself notable without an article yet...
Nah there's lot more to some of these sites than just a very skinny stub...
The problem is that when such a stub is put up, the lack of book refs and trove refs for such a location is where the problems start - but some sideways thinking about the topic as significant always help... JarrahTree 11:05, 7 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Australian Cow-calf sets

edit

Hi Steelkamp,

Do you know anything about Cow-calf locomotives in Australia? The article presently claims that The cow-calf concept was adopted on Queensland 2 ft gauge sugar cane railways with two locomotives being coupled permanently in multiple-unit mode with the cab of one removed. This was utilized by Isis Mill (1980-1993) and by Mackay Sugar (2005). but I can't find any sources to sustain this, besides a few railfan forums which obviously aren't sufficient as reliable sources. I'd hate to delete information that's likely correct, but if I can't find any reliable sources, I'll have to. I know you edit about Australian trains, so I thought you might know if any sources exist regarding these locomotives. Thanks! Trainsandotherthings (talk) 16:19, 12 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Trainsandotherthings: Don't know that off the top of my head. I've requested Queensland Railways locomotives, 1983 to see if that book has any information on this. Steelkamp (talk) 02:58, 13 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Let me know if you find anything, but there's no rush - I've commented out the text in question and it can remain that way until/unless we find a source for it. Thank you again. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 17:28, 14 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Trainsandotherthings: I have looked at that book now and it was a bust. I don't have any other books it might be in. Maybe there are some books in Queensland that would include that information, but that's not accessible to me. I'll let you know if I find anything on this. Steelkamp (talk) 05:37, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Alight well that's all I can ask for. I've grateful that you took a look for me. I really appreciate it, and if there's ever something you're looking for that I might have access to, you're more than welcome to ask me. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 13:58, 18 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

sense and sense

edit

You may well have a command of what makes sense to you, to see something that is linked to a redirect, to me makes no sense, regardless of the preponderance of rules etc - as for GinGin the whole naming thing is a bloody nightmare to use australian lingo - the amount of confusion of the one word and the split word usage across locations and states is something that only gets messier on trove. Also- [15] - there is a specific issue in relation to the issues raised on the talk page that suggests a general incomprehension of WP:ABOUT and WP:NOT - however, I think the general import of lack of understanding about being blocked and why, might simply stay that way. I for one would not like to venture there again, I think my comments to date are sufficient. JarrahTree 08:01, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Well the top of WP:HATNOTE makes it pretty clear by saying "Links to disambiguation pages should always end in "(disambiguation)", even when that version of the title is a redirect." You would receive an annoying bot message on your talk page otherwise.
I'm surprised no one realised they were previously banned before now. Also surprising that they voted in the Arbcom elections and surprising that that was how they got caught. I for one won't be disappointed if they remain blocked. Steelkamp (talk) 08:14, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your replies... Both make good sense, lets hope good sense prevails, but then, this is wikipedia... JarrahTree 08:18, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

was true, but changed...

edit

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Fremantle_line&curid=1618603&action=history

I think that changed - it was true for 1890s to .... There was possibly a change in the 1940s or 1950s but I could not put a finger on the ref for the change though. JarrahTree 05:38, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

If you have a ref, that would be really useful. Maybe the 1960s when the line was converted to dual gauge? Currently, Eastern Railway (Western Australia) implies the line goes all the way to Fremantle. I put that category on Fremantle because the category was already there on Midland line, Perth as well. Steelkamp (talk) 05:49, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
The implication is correct as public works and early railway plans of stations and drawings from the 1890s show everything from freo east as being on the Eastern Railway.
As for a good ref as to a change - in the new year some time...

Christmas is coming - my access to the impossibly large resource will be hijacked by the season - also my presence on wiki is highly improbable for many weeks now - or at least erratic - on the off chance it is more off than on, please have a safe christmas and new year, and keep up the good work!
