Ryde school
Dear TitoDutto I am hoping you can help as there have been several inaccuracies in the Ryde School with Upper Chine site. There are School archives which will prove what is said. But I do not have them. The Isle of Wight County Press is a local newspaper which has covered articles on Ryde School during the time of its existence. Staff and pupils have also had national and international news during this period. Someone a few months ago seems to have vandalised the detailed history of the school and this has led to inaccuaracies because they tried to reduce the size of the article and in so doing infelicities have crept in. I hope that you can help. Thank you very much. For the record, there are verifiable records to back up what I have said, it is just that I do not a] have them b] someone else might be able to supply the details - they do exist, and I believe that Ryde School itself can provide it
Best wishes and many thanks Prof1ryde PROF1ryde (talk) 17:28, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
Dear Tito Dutto Thank you very much for your kindness. I am no good at technical things. Please may I ask your help to get the citations right. It tells me it does not work. Notekeeping for article on theater
Hi Tito, you mentioned that a parallel article could be written on theater about SRK. This TOI article does not seem relevant to the cinema article but it seems potentially relevant to an article on theater, so I thought I'd give you the link while I have it: Sanjib Chakraborty (2012, Nov 5). DYK for Che'r Cycle
On 22 January 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Che'r Cycle, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the characters of Che'r Cycle, a 2009 Bengali drama, included Che Guevara, Aleida March, Fidel Castro, and Raul Castro? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Che'r Cycle. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Re: STiki reports at AIV
If STiki is reporting to AIV, it's because you clicked "Vandalism" -- please be sure the edits are actually vandalism before using that button. If the edit is not helpful, but isn't vandalism, use the "good faith revert" button instead. To be more specific: edit warring is not generally considered vandalism. —Darkwind (talk) 13:58, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

RE: NEXT (GROUP)
I thank you for telling me you reverted my informative addition to NEXT (group)... perhaps I didn't explain the reason for differentiating clearly enough, but since a search for N.E.X.T. totally missed N.Ex.T. (the korean band that wrote "Dear America") instead it sent searcher to NEXT (group) a band from USA. I thought my explanation in comments made this clear. while I do not think a disambiguous page is necessary, there needs to be something early in the article to redirect misdirected persons. If there is a template to do this, i have not heard of it. something needs to be there though because it took me another half hour to find out that the group name was not N.E.X.T but rather N.Ex.T. at which time I found their correct Wiki entry Qazwiz (talk) 21:10, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
Uttaranchal
Problem is that some pages are specific to a year, where simply changing Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand may not be fine. For example, Uttar Pradesh Reorganisation Act. When this act came into picture, tentative name of the state was Uttaranchal, and so that should be mentioned, though page link can be provided for Uttarakhand only to emphasize the current name.
I was doing another similar change, Pondicherry to Puducherry, but only for UT, and not for city or district, as we still don't have consensus on name change (and hence page movement). So, these changes also cannot be done using script as each changed needs to be inspected carefully.
Would you be interested in an article I want to work on?

Hi.
Why did you delete the update I made on "John Todd" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Todd_%28occultist%29 I don't talk English very well, but I can't see why I should use the Wikipedia if they're not willing to accept the truth. - Basically there's this long paragraph which tells people, that he hadn't been to Vietnam, and no records shows his been there. - And that's where I wanted to add my contribution, to let people know that there's actual evidence that shows his been there. (His gravestone.) http://www.locategrave.org/l/5559356/Christopher-Sarayn-Kollyns-SC
Wikipedia is very confusing for me, so this reply is probably also done all wrong. :)
She's a lady
She's a lady, by singer Tom Jones I suspect the info in this page is NOT correct. A modification was removed indicating that it was actually not Jimmy Page playing on the song. Just for the record, I like to know the source of the fact that Jimmy Pages was playing. On the website of JP www.jimmypage.com (official site) no session is mentionned. At the time another session musician, namely Big Jim Sullivan played in the Tom Jones Band. BJS died last year, and his website has been removed. The song was mentionned on that website. Please let me know. Sadeler (talk) 11:07, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Bengali category name question
Tito, what would be the Bengali categorization name for "School districts in the United States"? That way the two school district articles in Bengali would be in the same category and it would be linked to en:Category:School districts in the United States Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 05:55, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, Tito! I can help you out and see if I can find Bengali-language documents that may reveal how the school districts translate it. The New York and Detroit districts may have documents that could help in that regard. WhisperToMe (talk) 06:05, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
- Page 11/42 of the English document at http://detroitk12.org/resources/students/codeOfConduct/Student_Code_of_Conduct.pdf says "Students are advised that all staff employed by the School District of the City of Detroit are required to function in accordance with this code.*"
- Check Page 11/42 of the Bengali document at http://detroitk12.org/resources/students/codeOfConduct/Student_Code_of_Conduct-Bengali.pdf and see what it says

moving an article
hi Tito (hopefully) quick q - My article is Michael Falzon (actor) there is an existing article on Michael Falzon a politician - as I suspect they have equally footing in their respective spheres and to add clarity, can the latter be moved to Michael Falzon (politician)? Your recent reports at UAA
Hi, and thanks for your recent contributions at WP:UAA. However, there are some issues here. First of all, it is extremely difficult for us to evaluate the relative offensiveness of non-English slang. UAA is not really a discussion forum, it is a place for a more simple evaluation of user names. If it is unclear, which it pretty much always will be with foreign-language slang, if the account violates policy or not it should be discussed at WP:RFCN instead and the user behind the account should be invited to participate in that discussion.
However, I have removed all the reports you just added as unactionable. Only one of them has ever even made an edit, and that was over six months ago. The other ones had never edited and were registered in 2010 and 2007. There is no problem to address with an inactive account or one that has never even tried to edit since it was registered five years ago and such reports will usually be summarily declined. Please be more careful when making such reports in the future. Thanks. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:27, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
- 1½ years ago I made a report at Google's forum about Google's Web Search non-English search suggestions. Most probably you know, Google does not suggest "person A" anything when "person A" is doing an adult search. But, for languages like Bengali, even if you have Safe Search turned on and doing the simplest search, you often get some weird/very insulting search suggestions from Google. My report at Google forum went nowhere, but, still you can see it here.
- Anyway, (naturally) it is not a problem in Google or Wikipedia, it is a problem in whole world wide web.
- About the reports, Urban Dictionary link was added with each report so that one could check the meaning of those words in dictionary.
- I feel, there are some usernames which are reserved/can not be registered as they contain foul language etc. It should be similar in other languages too.
- Having a very very insulting foul word in slang is much serious than having a company name or email address in username.
- Inactivity might be a reason to block those accounts, since those are unused. --Tito Dutta (talk) 04:34, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- Uh, no it isn't. That is rather the point of my message. We don't bother blocking accounts that were registered years ago and have never made a single edit and reporting them is a waste of your time and the time of the admins who review username reports. That would be why I asked you not to do it again. The broader question of how to evaluate foreign language slang is something that could be discussed, in fact I have opened a thread about it at WT:UAA. Beeblebrox (talk) 16:56, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

alternative views of the war as allegory, etc
Hello, I don't usually edit any pages so I am not familiar with the process. I don't see how my addition was not constructive, for it offered a very valuable alternative perspective. I saw only pro-allegorical interpretations and to reject an opposing view would be non-constructive, in my opinion. Weasel words? Couldn't I describe the pro-allegorical interpretation sections as being fluffy words?
I did not realize that there would be people immediately censoring my post, even though I did supply a source which discusses the exact topic on a legitimate link and not merely the opinion of my anonymous self. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.224.54.113 (talk) 18:00, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

PERM
Hi. When I say 'active' I generally mean far more than 20 reverts in a month. FWIW, I do not believe that is a compelling reason for the right. I sometimes do that many reverts in a day on the fly while going about my normal content editing and admin work. That said, PERM is not an RfA-style nomination page, and there is no reason why a user can't request the right themselves if they really want it. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:52, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- a) 20 reverts a month, that means 20*15=300, at least 300 general edits a month, 20 revert/month is a good number when a user is not using automated tool and editing selected pages only (he has 400 or something unique page edit with 5 point something average edits per page! b) i) in Rfa one can self-nominate too ii) I strongly believe, getting nomination by other editors show they trust the editor. There are few good admins who grant right/flag to deserving candidate without asking. The first flag/status I got was Autopatrolled, I didn't request it anywhere, Ironholds somehow saw my contribution and and gave me this flag. I have talked to at least 500 editors and 20 admins in last one and a half year, but hardly remember few names, but I face no trouble at all to recall the name of Ironholds. It is all about Oremus pro invicem which means "Let's pray for each other"! And you can see the nomination from this point of view too: an editor with at least some knowledge and experience, after working for a long time with another editor (frankly, I know him and his edits for last one year) thinks the other editor deserves the flag and that's why he is nominating his name so that an admin can assess the belief and trust of the editor. --Tito Dutta (talk) 13:57, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I don't entirely agree. Autopatrolled is not a 'status' and has no benefits for the user and is not a reward for good editing. In fact none of the minor user rights are a trophy. They are just there to help users interested in working in those areas to get their work done more easily. I have accorded Autopatrolled to many users without asking them but that is to relieve the work of the New Page Patrollers. Request for Comment: My talk page replying style
As you know I reply at message sender's talk page, and that's why after seeing my talk page you may think I am inactive, because you see all the messages are unanswered. But, I generally don't reply at message sender's talk page if 1) message sender is spamming/vandalizing 2) message sender is a bot 3) sender is sending a bulk message to many editors 4) I personally think the discussion is very important and want to keep an unfragmented discussion for future reference.
But, I am noticing sometimes my talk preference is badly conflicting with other editors talk preference. So, I am planning to change mine to reply everything at my talk page and then add {{Talkback}} at sender's. It might be be confusing for many editors who regularly talk with me and wait for a "You have a new message" banner after sending me a message. That's why I am requesting for comments. --Tito Dutta (talk) 05:02, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Doha (Indian poetry)
Tito ji, Namaskar. How are you? I am bothering you as before. I have written a short note on Doha, an Indian verse format. It is in my sandbox. DYK for Jasuben Shilpi
On 29 January 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Jasuben Shilpi, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Jasuben Shilpi, the Indian sculpture artist, was known as "The Bronze woman of India"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jasuben Shilpi. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Congrats... You gave an awesome answer in the Teahouse!
Hi! Thanks for your useful and detailed troubleshooting of an editor's problem with their signature not showing up. It's really great for new editors to receive help with technical problems, and you did a thorough job explaining what likely went wrong and how to fix it. Thanks for doing that!
Also, in case you were wondering, we're trying a new experiment centered around 'acknowledgements' in the Teahouse. If you see someone doing something awesome, find the Badge that fits best and share it with them. More details are linked on the Badge itself. Cheers!

Awarded to those who have given a great answer on the Teahouse Question Forum. A good answer is one that fits in with the Teahouse expectations of proper conduct: polite, patient, simple, relies on explanations not links, and leaves a talkback notification. |

I have no intention of spamming wikipedia or using it for promotion of my site. I just want to add link to a book written by Subhas Chandra Bose for benefit of people who want to read book written by Subhas Chandra Bose. Since there is no link on the page where reader can get a copy of Subhas Chandra Bose's book for reading I think my link will add value to the page. I appreciate the fact that you are monitoring this page and making sure that all content is appropriate. Please suggest me how I can help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasvantsingh (talk • contribs) 03:57, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
- Don't add the link. "Further reading" section is written in summary style and we are not giving download links. With eact book we are trying to add ISBN link, clicking on it takes to full details page.
- Furthermore that site's license is not clear. --Tito Dutta (talk) 05:35, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for communicating with us.We apologize if there was any error in our judgement when editing the page about Raymond Franz. We read Wikipedia's policies thoroughly and realised that some information presented on the page was incorrect and presented a completely different view of how our society's representatives deal with matters regarding apostasy, especially in the case of Raymond Franz.

- You are talking about this edit. You deleted a large portion of the article without mentioning anything in edit summary. Furthermore, 1) there were numerous formatting errors, 2) you removed categories and interwikis, persondata, defaultsort.
- If you think something is wrong in the article, you can discuss too! --Tito Dutta (talk) 18:19, 29 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, IP. I understand and appreciate your concern regarding the article and we would certainly appreciate your assistance towards improving it. However, so as not to get off on the wrong foot, there are a few things you should be aware of:
- 1) We take threats of legal action quite seriously. If you do make such a threat, you will be blocked from editing until the threat is withdrawn or the case is resolved. I understand that you did not make such a threat above, but language such as "legal corporation" tells me that you're not an attorney and might make such a threat inadvertently. The corporate status of JW carries no weight here.
- 2) While it is possible to edit wikipedia without an account, doing so both reveals information that you may want to keep private (your IP address, which is correlated with your geographic location) and is seen by many editors as a "second-class citizen". I encourage you to create an account and, if you have an official position in the JW and wish to edit articles relating to JW, "declare your interest" and ask for assistance in editing. Conflicts of interest are taken seriously here. WP:COI has the details of how to handle this.
- 3) Perhaps most important, please understand that we do not aim for "100% factual sources". The goal of wikipedia is to be a neutral summary of secondary and tertiary sources; where those sources are wrong, wikipedia will be wrong as well. This is by design.
- 4) It's very common that new editor who arrive wanting to make specific changes to a specific article find themselves frustrated by a seemingly endless stream of policies and customs. While I admire your zeal, you will be a much more effective editor if you don't initially edit articles you feel passionately about. Making a hundred small changes over the course of a month (and watching how the community reacts to those changes) will give you a better sense of what works and what doesn't. Reading the talk pages of articles, dropping in a the WP:Teahouse and even watching the drama at WP:ANI will let you learn from other people's mistakes.
- 5) Don't be afraid to ask questions. You can do so here or at my talk page, or better yet at the WP:Teahouse.
- Looking forward to your contributions,
- I just sent a brief message about relevant policies to the user's talk page. The Anonymouse (talk | contribs) 19:11, 29 January 2013 (UTC)

Lyrics
Hey Tito, the 2.* IP in the discussion about Bismil's poem is me, Sitush. I'm not supposed to be editing at all, per medical advice, but I couldn't let this one slide. Due to my recent stay in hospital, I'm having to live with other people until the doctors think it is ok for me to live at home alone. That means I am using someone else's computer etc and I don't want to log in because I am concerned about my password getting ripped off etc. It took me a long time to remember that password and I've no intention of changing it!
I reveal who I was in a discussion at WT:INB that Anupam was involved with, but you may have missed it & so I think it best to let you know. Right now, I'm walking away from Wikipedia again because it is already stressing me out.--2.219.218.79 (talk) 09:26, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, if you want confirmation then just email me and I'll do that thing. As an IP, I cannot click on your "Email this user" link, but you can use mine.--2.219.218.79 (talk) 09:27, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- (edit conflict)Ah alright! I was waiting for you there and that's why did not say anything "yes" or "no"! Do you think article needs to be fully protected until you come back? --Tito Dutta (talk) 09:30, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hopefully not because that would prevent Anupam etc from usefully adding to it with stuff about the background etc. Anupam seems to be pretty keen on inserting scripts at the moment (see a discussion that Regentspark has recently joined on WT:INB) and it is that which might be driving them on the poem article. However, the article can and should be expanded in other ways if the sources are out there. As I have said, the two that I dumped in Further Reading do contain a bit of extra info that could be used. I'm just not in a fit state to get too involved right now and, in any case, I'd rather not start making edits to India-related content as an IP because I could lay myself open to a charge of socking.--2.219.218.79 (talk) 09:34, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Asaram Bapu Article
I didnt understand, why you reverted my revision (535833164) of Asaram Bapu article. How I m making it POV pushing, I have taken content from older revisions and added references.Naveentirthani (talk) 10:35, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- You are talking about this diff. Answer is by adding honorfics (what is "Sri Sri"?) also by adding references from "ashram.org"! (I mentioned this investigation at article's talk page too) --Tito Dutta (talk) 10:40, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- If I have added honorfics (Sri) - because He is spiritual leader, where we use Honorifics, and even if its illegal to add honorfics, you should have remove honofics only - why you have remove his name in other languages. Regarding references - I have also added reference of see diff ,and ashram.org reference for count of Ashrams, Samitis etc - what more sources are expected to be given here. - First off... Tito, does that animated image on your talk edit page mean you have a heart? Boy, you could have fooled me on that :) You will also page for you indiscretion of constantly changing my talk page.
- Image rotation/switching doesn't actually work. Wikipedia articles are cached to reduce the load on the servers. The article's cache entry is only updated when an edit is made to the page or the cache is manually purged. If a person sees an image one day, but the cache was updated, they may not see that same image for a long time. Makes it hard if that person wanted to download that image. Also, switch commands should never be used in articles as they are meant for templates only. The <gallery> tag to display more than one image is a possibility. I've got to leave for a few hours, so I can't respond back for a bit. Bgwhite (talk) 19:26, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. Image rotation/switiching was agreed upon after two very long and painful discussion at Talk:India. What you say about cache not being purged might be true, but for some reason I saw new images everyday in the India article without fail. Maybe that's because a lot of edits are made everyday to a heavily trafficked article like India. Using a <gallery> tag is not an option because if all images are displayed simultaneously images will tend to dominate text (which is against some guideline, can't remember which). Can an exception be made for this particular article? If not, we'll have to go in for another long and painful discussion at the talk page. Take your time with the reply. Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 19:40, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

- Thank you. This is a tough one. Alot of people have obviously put alot work and thought into deciding what photos go into the article. One of the talk pages led to this TfD, which is about image rotation. From the TfD, there are editors who hate the idea of image rotation, which resulted in the deletion of the rotation template and images. In this particular case, I'd say restore the switch statements that were removed as alot of people working in WP India want this. One of the reasons stated in the TfD, vandalism, is not going to be an issue in the India article. There are just too many people having the page in their watchlist and would notice the vandalism. However, if ever brought for discussion at a wide forum, I don't think it would be allowed. Bgwhite (talk) 22:16, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

- Talk:India/Archive 35#Images and Talk:India/Archive 37#Nominations of images for Economy section rotation were the major ones. There could be others. Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 21:33, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
- Could you find the talk discussion on Talk:India for me. Bgwhite (talk) 21:28, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
