I am wishing for the 2 month holidays after April. I am not getting any time edit. The studies too are not going in my way. I did create a Facebook account, but quit it just after a couple of days, requested the account to get deleted, but somehow it managed to survive. My classroom is adjacent to the internet room; a room for internet alone, but it has only one computer in it! The department has blocked Facebook. Still, they manage to get facebook using some special website. And you can see people logging on to Facebook all the time, taking away my opportunity edit Wikipedia from there. I see so many Wikipedia events getting organized via Facebook, tempting me to join it.···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 13:07, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Violation of Wikipedia policy!!

Welcome to Wikipedia! The infobox on your talk page has details like height, weight and marital status which is a violation of WP:NOTADATINGSERVICE. It's also my duty to inform you that Wikipedia has a skewed gender ratio, which means you are not going to get anywhere anytime soon. Since you welcome Authoritarianism I don't need to point out that revealing all personal details and messing with the government can lead to this and this. Hoping I never have to read the headline— Wikipedian with 10,000 edits in a month arrested by WB police, thank you. Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 09:45, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

1) if they don't allow these data, why they kept these parameters in Template:Infobox user 2) Are you just targeting me or all the users who are using this infobox 3) I don't know how those two news articles are related to my edits 4) These are my own personal information, and some people want to know whom they are talking to, many editors have more information in usepage written in paragraph style 5) I'll prefer a second opinion on this! --Tito Dutta (contact) 10:09, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

Teahouse

Hi Titodutta, thanks for your work at the Teahouse. I wonder if you got a chance to read the expectations for hosts at the Teahouse. They include, 3- Keep it simple. Explain as much as possible, as simply as possible, to new editors when answering questions. (Don't use wiki jargon!) and 4- Avoid over-linking when responding to questions. Wikipedia policies, procedures, and documentation are overwhelming to many editors. Do your best to explain processes and policies and answer the guest's particular question rather than pointing them to more documentation as a first resort... I would appreciate if you would explain a little more with your answers. Thanks again for all your help! heather walls (talk) 00:39, 9 March 2013 (UTC)

Wikilinking in Deaths in 2013

Hi

When you login to edit the page at Deaths in 2013, you will see the following message displayed:

"Attention editors This list includes all biological deaths (human, animal, and other living things), and entries must be notable enough to warrant their own Wikipedia article, whether or not that article currently exists. If you are here to remove an entry, please ensure that you apply this accepted standard."

In a nutshell, this is telling us signed-in editors that, if there is to be an entry of a death, it has to be of sufficient notability to allow wikilinking. Rather than remove wikilinking of any deceased's name on this page, you merely need to remove the entry as a whole - IF you are absolutely sure of the lack of notability in such a case. Might I also add that the convention regarding entries on that page is usually to allow the notability, or lack of, to succeed or fail over time, by displaying the redlink. The entry can be removed at a later date, after review. On this occasion however, I have no doubt you are correct, am in agreement regarding non-notability, and have removed the entry altogether. This should solve the problem once and for all. Best wishes to you. Ref (chew)(do) 13:32, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Yes, removing the entry might be a good idea! The only thing he did in his life was brutally physically assaulting a girl who died later. If I take out Nirbhaya out of it, then he has zero notability and similar to all other suicides, road accidents which happen everyday! --Tito Dutta (contact) 13:37, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the works though! --Tito Dutta (contact) 22:25, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

The following works need to be done–

  • Short paragraph on common suicide methods.
  • Short paragraph on suicide prevention initiatives.
  • Expansion or merge "History" section.

Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians

Tito, great job on the new layout! One suggestion: the "members" page could be renamed "facilitators" or "co-ordinators". "Members" suggests they are members of "Deceased Wikipedians", and therefore deceased. Just an idea, thanks again, The Interior (Talk) 00:45, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

Yes, please go ahead! Following these suggestions the page layout has been created. I am not satisfied with colour combination. I have chosen light blue, because it is the colour of sky. If you want to rename the "Members" tabe, you need to move this page Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians/Members to somewhere else like "facilitators" or "co-ordinators" (or Project members" etc and Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians/Tab header! --Tito Dutta (contact) 00:54, 16 March 2013 (UTC)

Hallo Tito! I inserted the POV temp 'cause Crovetto is not a neutral source. Furthermore the statement: "Sarkar formulated the theory for his Ananda Marga movement in 1959" is biased. Note

We already have Darśana. Why do we need this Adarsana article, which was created today? Reminded me of your legitimate comments on the duplication of Doha. The new article on Doha, as you implied, does indeed look superfluous. The material should, I think, have been incorporated in the original Doha article, as you suggested. I also think the original Darśana article is far better and more informative than the new one but that's a POV.--Zananiri (talk) 12:48, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

  • I am going by what I have read in the two articles. I appreciate the opposite meanings, but was wondering if they could be incorporated in one article. If you read the articles, my observations may ring a bell. I'll leave it at that.--Zananiri (talk) 15:32, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

Hansen Clarke and Peel District School Board

Hi, Tito! Are you ready to start Hansen Clarke and Peel District School Board in Bengali? Peel has a Bengali website which can help with the article Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 11:41, 11 March 2013 (UTC)

Your expertise needed

Please take a look at User talk:CorrectKnowledge#Mythological content in historical section. Sudhirkbhargava has been adding very early historical dates and other fringe stuff to many articles despite consensus at this RSN thread and my repeated attempts to explain why those edits are inappropriate. I think he is a good faith contributor, but clearly someone needs to review his edits, maybe even adopt the user. 197.* is currently involved in a discussion here and in edit wars on a few other articles. My involvement hasn't really worked in the past, so I am staying away from this. Please take a look into it. If nothing changes someone might have to raise WP:CIR concerns. This is not an exhaustive list: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]... Correct Knowledge«৳alk» 09:17, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
These edits contain a large number of exceptional claims, which needs exceptional citation. If he does not stop, ANI is the zone per WP:CIR (give 3-4 warnings first)! --Tito Dutta (contact) 09:21, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Also talk to his mentor User:Sitush --Tito Dutta (contact) 09:21, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Keep those pages on your watchlist for now, in case 197.* and Sudhir Bhargava start edit warring over this. Please also copy your reply above to Talk:Manusmṛti#Mythological content in historical section, it could use a third opinion. Is Sitush formally mentoring him? I posted something similar here. I please request for the Manusmṛti page to be reviewed to remove non-factual and misleading content presenting mythological content as being factual, and for other misleading content with the intention of presenting it as reality and glorifying it using unproven claims.

The user User:Sudhirkbhargava has made many misleading edits to that page that present mythological events unproven by archaeology as real historical events and also provides other misleading information presenting the mythological figure Manu as a historical person whose laws were followed in South-East Asia before the rise of Buddhism in India although no credible evidence for all these claims exist that are accepted by mainstream archaeology and historical sources.

The reasons given by the user who did this edit for replacing the information in that section are ideologically/politically biased, not supported by any archaeological and historical evidence and are either completely unproven or any conclusive evidence supporting these claims is absent.

Here is a compilation of all the misleading edits made to this page.

This user has also done many similar edits on pages relating to Indian mythology and history by adding mythological content and dates to historical content and by adding unproven archaeological/historical contents to pages relating to Indian mythology, especially to pages relating to Bhargava, Bhrigu, Manu and Dhosi Hill as can be seen from this user's contributions. Most of the information added is either directly cited from mythological texts or is fringe theory, politically biased, non-factual and contrary to any information obtained from archaeological, geological and historical evidence and seeks to glorify some aspects of history and mythology in a biased way while being detrimental to the factual, real and unbiased version of these topics.

Something must be done to remove the misleading non-factual information from all these pages and to prevent this user from adding non-factual information to more pages for good. This was the first time I edited something and contacted a user on Wikipedia and I will probably not edit anything again. I can't and don't want to keep on editing more or to engage in an edit war with someone.

Is it possible to unlock the Manusmṛti page so that I can undo these edits or can another Wikipedia user undo them? The page needs to be reverted to its last version from 33 July 2012 to remove all misleading information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 197.225.241.102 (talk) 20:27, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

He does not cite reliable sources that are widely accepted by mainstream scientists. He only cites mythological texts, other Wikipedia pages and himself in his edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 197.225.241.102 (talk) 01:30, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for taking notice of my request. This was my last involvement in this problem and I won't edit or contact Wikipedians again because I don't know anything about editing on Wikipedia. Please solve this problem among yourselves quickly. All the misleading information must be removed and this user must be prevented from making misleading edits by mixing historical and mythological information. I came to Wikipedia to look for reliable references to use for academic research but I was deeply offended by the biased, non-factual and misleading edits on the Manusmṛti page. These misleading edits make people lose faith on Wikipedia.

I wonder what all is cooking up on my edits on certain pages. I have given only factual and true references. Be specific to say what is wrong rather than being general. I have deep studies on Manusmriti, the seers who dictated it, the period and place where the seers had their habitation, and the Vedic states mentioned by the seers in their compilation. Also several researches by eminent scientists in seminars on the rivers Saraswati/Drishadwati and the state of Brahmavarta are now available, which give scientific support to references. I do not mind discussions any where.Sudhirkbhargava (talk) 17:07, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Early dates like 10000bc aren't supported by any scientific evidence widely accepted by the archeology. There are no conclusive evidence of Manu and Bhrigu living at beginning of Holocene period. 10000bc was still the Stone Age. Mythological texts aren't conclusive evidence and seminars aren't reliable sources. The Manusmrti page said that Manusmrti was influenced by Arthashastra and was written between 200bc and 200ce before you edited it. The discussiom here said that your claims are fringe theory that is not accepted by mainstream archeology and that it doesn't support 10000 year old civilisation. User:CorrectKnowledge said that you were told you mustn't add these dates to pages because no evidence supported by mainstream archeology supports it. RandomOffendedUser (talk) 19:55, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
I talked of period of Manu and Bhrigu as 10,000 years ago not 10,000BCE. I would like to know where Manusmriti says that it was influenced by Arthashastra and was written during 200BC and 200CE. What are the sources ? This is baseless and mere speculation. Manusmriti was applicable during Ramayana period (5200 BCE) and Mahabharata period (3100 BCE) also. So dates of 200BC or 200CE are vague. Archeologists have confirmed that there were floods in Brahmavarta region 10,000 years ago. Can give you specific sources also. Satellite images of palaeochannels of two rivers Saraswati and Drishadwati which formed Brahmavarta state, where Bhrigu and Manu had their Ashrams (mentioned in more than 3 Sanskrit Books) confirm descriptions in Sanskrit books, confirming that no mythology is involved and book contains facts. As per Puranas, Bhrigu had migrated to Bharuch on the banks of Narmada river in Gujrat. Archaeological findings there are dated 8500 years old. On Manusmriti page I have given precise references with every important information. Sanskrit books cannot be termed as mythological books if contents are facts and can be proved on scientific parametres.

On pages Ayurveda and Vedic Period, there are several wrongs which need to be removed. There is untruth galore on those pages. But some editors make a cartel to have their say. It is a creditibility loss to Wikipedia. No wonders, on the 12th anniversary of launching of Wikipedia, the largest selling Hindi daily news paper in India 'Dainik Bhaskar' carried a quater front page story after a survey, saying that Wikipedia carries 50 % untruths. I tend to agree with that report as I find that several pages are not taken care of al all. But where serious editors try to improve some pages, there is resistence from vested interests. When Ramayana and Mahabharata periods, 5400 BCE and 3100 BCE respectively are well accepted now on the basis of different scientific parameters, and Manusmriti was applied during that period also, saying that Manusmriti was written 200BCE or 200CE is a joke. Please have exhaustive discussions before changing facts on Manusmriti pageSudhirkbhargava (talk) 12:23, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Edits on Dhosi Hill page aren't acceptable or scientific. The page says that geologists don't accept that Dhosi hill is a volcano but it also says that Dhosi Hill is a volcano because it is written in mythological texts and because it's rock look like volcanic lava.
It remains mysterious, because despite its physical features of an extinct Volcano, Geologists refuse to acknowledge it a Volcanic eruption maintaining that Aravali range did not have any volcanic eruptions during last 2 million years, though, the epic Mahabharat mentions clearly that this hill, having features like 'three distinct hill tops', 'three perennial water falls' and housing the Ashram of revered Rishi Chyavana, had 'appeared' (obviously through Volcanic eruption), at the confluence of Treta and Dwapar yug [1] which happens to be within last 10,000 years and not 2 million years. RandomOffendedUser (talk) 20:16, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
Well, no geologist has yet analysed the lava at Dhosi Hill. However, they maintain from their established knowledge, that no volcanic eruption has taken place in India except Andamans Islands during last 2 million years. But when you talk to them on a Volcanic eruption at Dhosi Hill, which has all the features of a Volcanic Hill and lava lying there as in picture, they suggest to get it analysed and dated for which I am keen too. Also, the geologists do maintain that seismic activity did take place in Aravali hills 6000-5000 BCE, which resulted in changing of routes of Saraswati and Drishadwati rivers which resulted in migrations from the area. I can mention these sources on the page. Unfortunately, no geologist has yet analysed the lava shown in the picture. To me it is a mysterious hill as it has higher magnetic field, some rare herbs, a rejunevating pond on the hill top and place where Chayavanprash was first formulated and was the Ashram of Chayavana Rishi, who was son of Bhrigu rishi. Mahabharata epic has many mentions of this hill. and they cannot be mythologies. Removing the picture of lava hill is intriguing to me. You would not find lava lying on any hill in India. It is a mysterious hill to me and for any reader. It is a feature of Dhosi Hill which any reader would like to know and see. Dhosi Hill does need more citations. But please discuss before removing any contents.Sudhirkbhargava (talk) 15:26, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks Mr Titodutta

Thanks, Mr Titodutta. This is my first attempt and I really appreciate your quick comments and suggestions. I'll incorporate the changes you have suggested and come back with a revised article.

Write the article in the followingformat
  • Lead (no header_
  • Early life (birth, education)
  • Literary career (don't make sections for each book)
  • Bibliography
  • Awards
  • See also (if any, don't add those links which are already linked in article body)
  • References
  • External links (not more than 2 external links)! --Tito Dutta (contact) 14:10, 21 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi Mr Titodutta, Let me again thank you for reading my first article. As you suggested, I removed all the external links and gave citations. I think they are enough citations. I have tried changing the tone of the article - I fully realize that it has to fit in the tone of the encyclopedia - and will happily discuss further changes (if necessary) but the article is about a writer who has explored a different genre - Unauthorized biographies. While developed countries have their share of Kitty Kellies, the writers face several pressure groups when they write something different. Sadat Hasan Manto suffered for this very reason. And many biographies are not allowed to be sold. We are a country of book burners. Mohan Deep went against the tide and that two in mid-nineties when there wasn't much money in writing books. I admire this but don't want it to color my article. I am fascinated with wikipedia and hope to write more on different subjects. In fact, I am considering 'Biographies' as my next article. I may start from Akbarnaama and Babarnaama to analyze the kind of biographies being written in India. Will love to get your opinion.

Should I resubmit now or the article needs further changes.

Farida. F.Balsara (talk) 07:18, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

  • This article is not fully ready! In my opinion, please follow the format mentioned above! If particulars book is notable (and if you collect multiple reliable sources covering the book), you can create articles on those books too. See Rabindranath Tagore, we don't add all details on each and every book in the main "biographical article"! --Tito Dutta (contact) 07:59, 22 March 2013 (UTC)

On Y2K (Athoba, 'Sex Krome Aasitechhe')

It's nice to see the article being kept. This is a peculiar situation, we do not have enough online sources to back it, whereas I know from personal experience that it has gained sort of a cult status. As I told in the AfD, the film was shown in 2001 Kolkata film festival, at least twice (incidentally I was there in the audience both times). The second time it was shown, it was not in the itinerary, and some viewers (who probably already saw it the previous day), protested by shouting! I even overheard somebody saying, Satyajit Institute theke esob ki cinema toiri korchhe, chhi chhi!!

At that time, I thoroughly enjoyed it :p --Dwaipayan (talk) 03:12, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
