Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Dabomb87 (talk) 04:06, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

School Cleanup

I saw your note on my talk page (which you reverted, which is OK - hope you don't mind if I reply anyway).

I think cleaning up school articles is a good idea. I also think that to do it correctly requires looking at every article, as an individual, to see if it asserts notability in any way, and then rather liberally accepting such assertions. It would be an involved process, as one would have to make notes in all the talk pages, get feedback, etc. - which while appropriate per the process, is sure, at some point, to create a firestorm of controversy among those with a vested interest and/or perceived ownership of those articles. JoeSperrazza (talk) 17:33, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I reverted it because I forgot to put the subject in it (haha), I typed it back later. I think we should tread carefully, there's no doubt that people will try to oppose per nobility guidelines. I think the first step of business is to propose the idea on the talk pages on articles that could be redirected, and get consensus on that. I'll keep you informed.

Cheers, ► Wireless Keyboard ◄ 19:00, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Coolness. Because Henrico County Public Schools was a bit of a mess when I looked at it, I took an in-depth look at the article, top to bottom, and made some corrections and placed some tags. I've since removed some of those tags as I've found some refs, and added them to the article. I also looked at all of the linked schools and fixed the links that were bad, and looked at the notability of the middle and elementary schools. For those, I found a handful that were stubs with no assertion of notability, so tagged the articles and left a "REDIRECT Recommended" note on their talk pages. I was very liberal in my asessment of notability assertion - if there was the slightest, I only noted if/where citations could be better. Cheers, JoeSperrazza (talk) 19:06, 14 January 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Secure Tracking of Office Property

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Secure Tracking of Office Property, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Secure Tracking of Office Property and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 23:03, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Saturday Night Special (film)

Could you kindly review and perhaps tone down the templated vandalism/test warning that you left at User_talk:Migdiachinea#February_2011 regarding her edit to Saturday Night Special (film)? This followed her question at Wikipedia:Help_desk#Saturday_Night_Special. I agree with you that her "clean up" edit was too thorough, reducing the article to just one line, but I don't think it fair to call it "vandalism". -- John of Reading (talk) 22:33, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

I didn't mean to reduce the article to just one line. I cut the text to paste and edit it when my connectivity became an issue, as it has been for about two weeks intemittently. In any event -- I'm glad that you see that I had no intention of vandalizing any page -- my intention was to tone it down because it is so self promotional in its nature. It looks like a public relations campaign. Right now, I'm in the middle of my quarter, so I have no time whatsoever -- much to get done. I wish that someone would edit the page in question because anyone can see how laudatory it is. Thanx so much! Mig (talk) 21:47, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Regarding one of your reverts...

I am writing because you reverted one of my edits mistaking it for vandalism a few days ago. As requested on this page, I replyed on my talk page to this revert, giving the reasons why I felt this was a nesesary edit, and stating that it wasn't in any way vandalism, and asking for permission to re-revert it. I usually prefer not to edit a page when there's a dispute with another person that hasn't been settled, but I have waited patiently and am waiting for a response, and I feel that if I don't hear from you in the next couple of days it would be fine for me to do it myself. Help Me

The IP address at my educational institution was autoblocked, and I was caught in it (at that time I was at there). However, I couldn't even edit my own talk page to ask for an unblock (I emailed an admin). Is there a reason for this now? I thought you could edit your talk page under an autoblock. Cheers! ► Wireless Keyboard ◄ 00:33, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

I can't answer your question perfectly, but somehow I was able to edit other user's talk pages when I was autoblocked once...I have no idea how that happened (because it certainly isn't supposed to) given that any time I tried editing a non-user talk page I was blocked from doing so, so I was definitely autoblocked. I think autoblocks are just kinda funky, in a way. But anyway, if you weren't allowed to edit your own talk page, that probably means the user that triggered the chain of autoblocks was blocked from his talk page access. Ks0stm If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. 02:15, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
Apparently, the user who was blocked was blocked from editing his talk page. Will this always happen? Cheers! ► Wireless Keyboard ◄ 02:17, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
You must follow the normal block appeal process and request an IP block exemption flag be added to your account for that IP address/range. The Guide to appealing blocks will tell you what template to post. Be sure to post from home on your normal user talk page (post on this page -- if you post from the school's IP address and request an IP block exemption, the request will automatically be denied). Administrators will then discuss (and log) the block exemption request. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page (because, honestly, I don't like watching other people's talk pages either) or put the help me template back up. :) Banaticus (talk) 02:20, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

IP block exempt

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption.

Your recent vandalism of the Esperanza Spalding page = fail. In a few years, your teenage pope idol JB will reach his used by date and slide into oblivion once his voice breaks and you will find another flavour-of-the-minute toyboy to latch onto. Wireless Keyboard thank you for applying to access the account creation tool. I have approved your request so welcome to the team. You may now access the tool here. Before you do so, please read the tool's guide thoroughly to familiarize yourself with the process.

You may also want to join #wikipedia-en-accounts on IRC where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and to get any advice on requests as well as the mailing list. Please note that we have implemented a policy of zero tolerance on mishandled requests, and that failure to assess correctly will result in suspension. I would like to emphasize that it is not a race to complete a request, and each one should be handled diligently and thoroughly.

Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, although you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked "Account Creator Needed" by the bot and "Flagged user needed" in the tool. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at WP:PERM.

Please keep in mind that the ACC tool is a powerful program, and misuse will result in your access being suspended by a tool administrator. Don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome!Mlpearc powwow 23:01, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Message from NoAmGeogSoc

I am not familiar with this method of communication, but I hope this is the right way to clarify this.

My user name is NoAmGeogSoc.

The article now on the web entitled "Cow Island, Montana" was an early draft of an article I had been working on about Cow Island, in the Missouri Breaks area of Eastern Montana. I had been working on this early (and incomplete) draft on March 2, under "User:NoAmGeogSoc/Sandbox7a". Then I lost the article and was never able to find it. I thought it was because the designation "...7a" following "...Sandbox" was not appropriate.

This source for the article now on Wikipedia as "Cow Island, Montana", is confirmed by the following under the "view history" tab at the "Cow Island, Montana" entry:

(cur | prev) 00:46, 2 March 2011 Wireless Keyboard (talk | contribs) m (2,067 bytes) (moved NoAmGeogSoc/Sandbox7a to Cow Island, Montana: User moved from his userspace into mainspace, improperly named) (undo)

After losing track of the earlier draft, I rewrote the "Cow Island" article in this place: "User:NoAmGeogSoc/Sandbox15".

Today, in a routine search I came across the "Cow Island, Montana" article. I was appalled to find my earlier fragmented work on Wikipedia, and decided to move my current draft on that topic from my "user" space onto the "mainspace" (is that the right word) where it is now lodged as "Cow Island, Missouri Breaks, Eastern Montana".

I am glad that this move got a response from you, so we could clear up the confusion between the two articles.

So, the current article with the full title, "Cow Island, Missouri Breaks, Eastern Montana" has the fully merged content of the earlier "Cow Island, Montana" article, along with additional content.

The proper title for this article is "Cow Island, Missouri Breaks, Eastern Montana". As you might guess there are many different "Cow Island" designations, and this particularly Cow Island is uniquely associated with the Missouri Breaks, and Eastern Montana. Eastern Montana, by the way, is a specifically and commonly designated region of Montana -- see "Eastern Montana" on Wikipedia.

It is my intention to continue to work on the article in the next few days, adding footnotes, categories, "See Also" and all the rest until the article is complete. I will get some photos of this "Cow Island" in the future, when the weather is better.

I would like your help in removing the "Cow Island, Montana" article in its entirety, and leaving the "Cow Island, Missouri Breaks, Eastern Montana" article to be completed.

Thank you.

Sure, I would like to help. I cannot delete articles, since I am not an administrator. However, I will discuss on the talk page of the merger to make a redirect from Cow Island, Montana to Cow Island, Missouri Breakss Eastern Montana. Is that OK with you (since you contributed a lot to both of these articles)? Please sign your posts with four tildes► Wireless Keyboard ◄. 23:10, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Douglas S. Freeman High School

Hi WK! Douglas S. Freeman High School is an article with an ongoing problem with unreferenced material. However, I was interested to know why you chose to remove this unreferenced text, while apparently having no problems with the equally unreferenced existing text to which it had been added. Was there a particular problem with the addition? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 21:09, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Feedback Dashboard task force

Hi Wireless Keyboard,

Since you were a part of the WikiGuides project, I thought I'd give you a heads-up about a new way you can help/mentor newbies on en.wiki: we've recently released a feature called the Feedback Dashboard, a queue that updates in real time with feedback and editing questions from new registered contributors who have attempted to make at least one edit. Steven Walling and I are putting together a task force for experienced Wikipedians who might be interested in monitoring the queue and responding to the feedback: details are here at Wikipedia:Feedback Dashboard. Please sign up if you're interested in helping out! Thanks, Maryana (WMF) (talk) 21:55, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

New Page Triage engagement strategy released

Hey guys!

I'm dropping you a note because you filled out the New Page Patrol survey, and indicated you'd be interested in being contacted about follow-up work. This is to notify you that we've finally released both the initial documentation about the project and also the engagement strategy, which sets out how we plan to work with the community on this. Please give both a read, and leave any comments or suggestions you have on the talkpage, on my talkpage, or in my inbox - okeyes wikimedia.org.

It's awesome to finally get to start work on this! :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 02:18, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Absorb LMS

The article Absorb LMS has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability. All references are either dead links or promotional pages such as press releases.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Orphaned non-free media (File:Quia logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Quia logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:59, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
