Hello. Great work with adding missing 2010 census data. However, I was wondering why your bot is using the following external link in the references:

Sorry for the slow response started a new semester at college this week and was busy with that. I had never really contributed to Wikipedia before I started writing the code for those updates that I do, I had only did some typo fixes here and there and some updates to sports articles, by no means was I at all familiar with standards. So when I started doing this I just wanted to make my references look like the Rambot references used for the 2000 sections, problem was he used a template and I was using a normal reference. I just assumed you had to give the |publisher field a url so that was how I did it. Simply put I didn't know you could use a wiki link there at the time. I've continued on doing it this way for consistency sake, I've only seen it come across my watchlist a couple times with people changing it so it doesn't seem like it's that big of deal. Come May, if I'm not mistaken, the US Census Bureau will release the population estimates for July 1st 2012 and I'll be going back over all the pages I've edited to update the population estimate in the infobox. At this time I could change them all over to the wiki link it would be incredibly easy to automate along with the automatic population estimate updates. Jamo2008 (talk) 21:36, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

Airport in Wisconsin

I notice that you created several articles about airports in Wisconsin over past several the years. Since you're more familiar with the resources available for airport articles, would you please create an airport page for the Town of Palmyra airport just outside of Palmyra, Wisconsin? I photographed the site while on a recent road trip. The images are found at Commons here. Please link to the Commons category.

There is an issue with the name of the article. I see the name reserved for the article is Palmyra Municipal Airport. Notice that the sign for the airport reads "Town of Palmyra Airport". Please be aware of the Political subdivisions of Wisconsin page which describes that the town of Palmyra is different than village of Palmyra. A town is not a municipality. A town is the rural land between villages and cities. So I think that the PDF from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is wrong, or at least it should be questioned. Regardless of the town's municipal status, I provided several references supporting the name Palmyra Municipal Airport including the Federal Aviation Administration, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, newspaper articles written this year, and a history from a flying club based at the airport. Great job, thank you! You did the right thing by selecting the name Palmyra Municipal Airport for the article. You did a great job of using the correct terminology for the town versus village. Removal of the entry in the IATA code list for USC

While you are right that USC does not reference Union County Airport, IATA actually references USC as an "off-line point" for Union, South Carolina (hence the IATA code). Hello. I guess you wound up here since I was credited for a minor contribution made about eight years ago, back when User:Lupin maintained the JavaScript code at User:Lupin/popups.js. Anyway, I looked through Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups#Options and could not find an option to include the edit summary when previewing a diff. Personally, I've never found this to be an issue since I generally preview diffs from pages that already show the edit summary, such as watchlist and contribution pages by hovering over (diff) and history pages by hovering over (cur) or (prev). You might want to ask over at Wikipedia talk:Tools/Navigation popups. Start date and age

Hello! Unless I'm missing something, both {{Start date and age}} and {{Start date and years ago}} currently have merge banners telling editors not to use the template. Hi. I noticed the same thing a few days ago. According to Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2013 July 31#Template:Start date and age, as of 8 August 2013, "the result of the discussion was merge or reverse merge, which ever makes the most sense." I think it makes more sense keep and use {{Start date and age}} for the following reasons:

• {{Start date and age}} can handle dates with just a year & month (see National Foundation for Popular Culture) or year only (see Jerusalem Retreat Center). {{Start date and years ago}} requires the year, month, and day to work correctly.
• {{Start date and age}} can display the elapsed time in years, months (see Salamanca AC), or days. {{Start date and years ago}} only displays the elapsed time in years.
• {{Start date and age}} is transcluded on 7741 articles (and 9249 pages in all namespaces). {{Start date and years ago}} is transcluded in 1897 articles (and 2079 pages in all namespaces).
• {{Start date and age}} handles future dates, such as 30 June 2014 (2014-06-30). {{Start date and years ago}} displays the same date as 30 June 2014 (2014-06-30).

I recently updated {{Start date and age}} with an option to display the elapsed time within parentheses (see above), which is the same format used by the other template (minus the small font size). I also changed the {{Being deleted}} banner to the redirect {{Being merged}}, but that does not change the text displayed by the banner. I looked at {{Merge from}} and {{Merge to}}, which have more appropriate text, but the instructions say not to use it on a template or category. If you know of a better banner template to use, go for it. In the meantime, my suggestion would be to use {{Start date and age}} in any articles you are updating or creating.

Thank you for your (very complete!) response. I agree with your reasoning that {{Start date and age}} is the best merge target, and I appreciate your updates to reproduce the functionality. Do you have a list of what remaining functionality is needed before the merge can be completed?

UPDATE: Three days later I re-implemented my updates, this time without breaking the undocumented usage of dates contained in a single parameter, such as "August 2011", "21 August 2011", or "August 21, 2011". Enterprise Municipal Airport (Oregon)

Hi Zyxw. I noticed that you moved Enterprise Municipal Airport, Oregon to Enterprise Municipal Airport (Oregon) with the edit summary "standard format for airport disambiguation is parentheses when state is not part of name". The policy at Wikipedia:Article_titles#Disambiguation, is to use a comma, and that is the guidance also given at Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Style guide/Naming (Airports). There are various reasons for this, one of which is that it is natural to write Enterprise Municipal Airport, Oregon in a sentence, but it isn't natural to write Enterprise Municipal Airport (Oregon), therefore editors have to write [[Enterprise Municipal Airport (Oregon)|Enterprise Municipal Airport, Oregon]] when linking to the article. It is also awkward and clumsy for readers to see brackets. I note that a number of other airport articles were also moved from Comma-separated to Parenthetical disambiguation. I am quite comfortable with doing those moves again, but thought I'd raise it with you first, in case you wanted to talk over it a bit more. SilkTork ^{✔Tea time} 01:04, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

• I disagree with your interpretation of Wikipedia:Article titles#Disambiguation in regards to the names of articles about airports. The natural disambiguation section states "If it exists, choose an alternative name that the subject is also commonly called in English, albeit not as commonly as the preferred-but-ambiguous title." I do not agree that the airport in question is commonly called "Enterprise Municipal Airport, Oregon". In my experience researching and working on airport articles over the years, common names in the format "Airport Name, Location" are not the norm. An example where that would be the common name is airports in Norway, such as Førde Airport, Bringeland and Førde Airport, Øyrane.
• Wikipedia:Article titles#Disambiguation also contains a section on comma-separated disambiguation which states "if the disambiguating term is a higher-level administrative division, it is often separated using a comma instead of parentheses, as in Windsor, Berkshire (see Geographic names)." I interpret this to mean "Enterprise, Oregon" is appropriate because Oregon is a "higher-level administrative division" of the city of Enterprise. I do not agree that this section applies to airport names.
• There are currently over 600 airport articles disambiguated by location which use parentheses in the format "Airport Name (Location)". By my count, you moved 27 of those articles to use commas back in January. Another editor renamed two of your moves in April and I did the other 25 in June.
• The guidance you refer to at Wikipedia:WikiProject Aviation/Style guide/Naming (Airports) was added by you in this edit, made immediately after you moved those airport articles. Reading over your addition there, I agree with "use WP:NATURAL disambiguation where possible" (see my previous examples of airports in Norway). However, I do not agree with "if not, use comma-separated disambiguation over parentheses, using a higher-level administrative division such as Jackson County Airport, North Carolina". I did not see any prior discussion about this at the associated talk page so, unless there was some discussion elsewhere, the statement you added was not a consensus of WikiProject Aviation.
• Your example of [[Enterprise Municipal Airport (Oregon)|Enterprise Municipal Airport, Oregon]] is not a common usage. Most links to airport names (excluding those from navigation boxes) occur in articles about places served by the airport, such as Enterprise, Oregon or List of airports in Oregon, which use [[Enterprise Municipal Airport (Oregon)|Enterprise Municipal Airport]]. Switching to comma-separated disambiguation would only change those links to [[Enterprise Municipal Airport, Oregon|Enterprise Municipal Airport]].

If you still feel that airport articles disambiguated by location should use a comma rather than parentheses, I would request that you bring this to Wikipedia:Requested moves or another forum where others would have an opportunity to comment. I was off Wikipedia for a bit and missed this one before it was deleted. I believe that ETUL was simply a redirect to RAF Laarbruch based on its ICAO code as listed in the article. We have many such redirects in Wikipedia, so I am not sure how that meets section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
