Lupton family (yet another)

This happens every time I add a file (almost) - It comes up way too big. Please be patient with me. This is the file in the "Hugh Lupton" section - https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Isabella_Lupton,_the_Lady_Mayoress_of_Leeds_(right)_with_HRH_Princess_Mary.jpg

The caption underneath should read- "Isabella Lupton, Lady Mayoress of Leeds (right) with HRH Princess Mary in 1926"

Lupton editor, I am getting very old, and my memory is unreliable ... but I seem to remember that you have previously been pointed to a statement at the top of this page: "If you have comments about a specific article, use that article's talk page." Am I just imagining that this has happened?

Also, if you look at your user talk page (I mean, the talk page of you when you're logged in), you see increasingly annoyed comments by LX about your way of attaching fictitious copyright information to the files that you've uploaded. For this image of a Lupton, you've done exactly the same thing. It seems to me that the more you do, the more work you create for others. Am I mistaken?

How to request another review for an article?

@A smart brainy man: Hi, the guidance on assessing the quality of articles is at WP:ASSESS. You could ask a relevant project such as Wikipedia:WikiProject France, or you could assess it yourself using the criteria (up to class B).

And yes, you can use Template:Weather box, it says it is used on 18,000 pages such as Adelaide. TSventon (talk) 23:18, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

@A smart brainy man: you just edit the talk page of the article and replace the existing rating(s) with the new rating. e.g. replace stub with start (or C or B).

If you want to notify an editor you need to use code like {{re|TSventon}}: @TSventon does not generate a notification. TSventon (talk) 12:22, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

How to know blocked IPs belonged to which account?

Recently, I edited in an article Heads of former ruling families, and there were some pretty controversial edits that I was involved; during the process, there were several IP edits from other user (here is the history). Eventually, the page is protected from IP editing for months for the "sockpuppetry", and the IP (I am not sure how many) was blocked for hours for "harassment" etc. In the talk page, it seems like one of the admins recognized that the IPs are "from an user that was active on this page", but is there a way to know, from these contributors history, to know which user that was blocked from this case, and it makes "block evasion" as the IP edits are present? - George6VI (talk) 11:54, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

Wikipedia Donation Article

Saw today a prompt for Wikipedia was asking for donations, is there a current article about that? @Nik9hil: Himachali languages redirects to Western Pahari, whose infobox says its ISO639-2 code is "him". The page is linked to the Wikidata item Q12645574. How to find/update wikipedia for new concepts introduced by the British Brexit?

It looks like wikipedia is not up to date in regard of the end of the Brexit withdrawal transition period.

It is not easy to find where are described those concepts and how they work, for instance:

@Kaylene7: If you believe you are notable after reading what GGS suggested, I'd suggest you might find a more music-focused audience at WT:MUSICIANS. Some area information not showing on page

On the Snyder's Lake, New York page ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snyder%27s_Lake,_New_York ) some of the items listed under "Area" Are not showing.

Specifically, the following is what is written in the coding:

What is showing is:

Area

I would also like to add that the lake itself (water size) is 124 acres

I'd appreciate if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong.

@OuterChild:, Snyder's Lake, New York uses Template:Infobox settlement, which does not support a shore parameter, which Template:Infobox_body_of_water does. If you click on the links for the templates they have information on how to use the parameters.

Incidentally are you connected to Snyder's Lake? If so you should be following wikipedia's guidance on conflict of interest.

First time edit removed by Paul August - Furies - Roger Zelazny

Dear Wikipedia,

I just tried editing a page for the first time and had my update immdediately removed by someone called Paul August.

I wanted to note the in the 'Modern References' section on the 'Furies' (Erinyes) page the short story 'The Furies' by Roger Zelazny in the anthology 'the doors of his face, the lamps of his mouth'. I even gave the ISBN number (0-7434-1329-6).

The reason given was that I had not given any citations and it was off topic.

I am not sure about the first one (tell me what I needed to do).

As to the second, it is most definitely is on topic if Mr. August had bothered to look at the story.

I feel that for my first edit, some advice would have been better that just straight removal.

Not that I want to edit much, but it doesn't exactly encourage one to try again.

Please can you indicate what I should have done.

Also, I had strange messages on my phone to say the updating from that IP address was blocked for some reason - very confusing.

Please could someone look into these and provide some answers - or I shall definitely sticking to readonly.

The source you used could have been included althiough this may be the book itself . There is a cite button in editing mode. Press this and you will find a number of templates which are reasonably easy to use. This creates a footnote. You could also include in your original edit the reason why it is relevant. Does the book retell the myth for example ?Spinney Hill (talk) 07:54, 16 July 2020 (UTC).

For information, Julianw138, 'The Furies' was not part of the original 1971 edition of The Doors of His Face, The Lamps of His Mouth, but was added in later editions. 'The Furies' was first collected in Four for Tomorrow (1967) following its original publication in the magazine Amazing Stories in the June 1965 issue. The latter is citable as a primary source (which is permissable for works of fiction, I believe), but Zelazny's writing has been the subject of several scholarly works of critical analysis, which will doubtless contain further citable material.

As for its relevance to the Erinyes article. It is thematically inspired by the legend, but does not actually involve or mention them} [edited to correct error – see below]. Rather, it describes a three-man team in the distant future – of whom one combines a prodigious memory with advanced IT (by 1965 standards), one has paranormal powers of psychometry, and one is an ethical but very expert killer – who on behalf of the authorities track down and execute egregious malefactors in an inexorable manner reminiscent of the ancient Greek entities. (I have just skim re-read it to confirm these details.)

I would only be inclined to add it to the Erinyes article if we had an article on the story to link to, but as yet we don't. Others may have different opinions.

As for your IP range block, I suspect that this is (a) coincidental and (b) nothing to do with yourself but rather fallout of measures taken against someone else with an IP in the same block; however, others have more expertise in this area. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.200.41.197 (talk) 19:18, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

I believe the RP is correct. The last paragraph of the story explicitly identifies the three characters as the Furies from mythical times. In lieu of scholarly articles to support this, citing the book will have to suffice, but a helpful clarifying note on the talk page will also help.
