living/blp parameter in template

This is to inform you about some developments in how the living parameter has been changing in your project banner. As the banner shell is now used on every article, it is no longer necessary to add living, or activepol or blpo to {{WikiProject Biography}}. These parameters are all accepted by the banner shell and can safely be removed from other templates. At the same time we thought we would check if these parameters and notices still fit the needs of the project, or if any other options were required? Also, we are considering a simplification so that instead of |living=yes and |activepol=yes we could just use something like |blp=activepol. MOS and extent of coverage about family members

There is currently a disagreement over the extent of coverage about family tree in the lede in an individual's page Talk:Jack_Schlossberg#NPOV_and_due_weight_issues. I have checked several random biography pages listed as Good Article and didn't come across articles covering family like this in the lede. The edit in disagreement is Special:Diff/1249973757. Drawings in place of photos

See Grace E. Pickford, and Vonda N. McIntyre (before I removed it). I get it, there's no photo of these people but are these drawings really okay to use. If it was an approved drawing by the article's subject or otherwise well-known drawing, or by a famous artist but this is just someone drew it and uploaded it to Commons. Do WP:BIO guidelines exist?

Hi. Can someone tell me if WikiProject Biography has any guidelines? (I come from a city article that has clear guidelines at WP:USCITIES.)

Today I looked at the Donald Trump article and was dismayed to find his §Personal life featured first. That seems a tad disrespectful. I realize that article has seen extended controversy and so I don't want to rock the boat there, and decided to ask you instead.

I have read much of the archives on "Personal life" and can see individuals arguing on and on. The biographies I've written always start with §Early life, and sometimes §Early life and family or §Early life, family, and education. Your assessment section offers Mary Shelley as exemplar for a featured article. The linked version there begins with §Biography (to which I object). But then I looked at the live version which has been fixed to start §Life and career.

Might I suggest that some guideline would help? MOS:BIO is a good start but doesn't ever get past nomenclature. -SusanLesch (talk) 18:09, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
