Question from Kenyanresearcher (05:42, 1 October 2024)

edit

so the article, the economy of kenya (and a lot of other articles about kenya) reference pretty dated information. I would like to update it. any tips? also the currencies eg for budgets etc are quoted in USD, should I quote them in kes instead? --Kenyanresearcher (talk) 05:42, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Kenyanresearcher The number one thing you should know about Wikipedia is that you need to source your edits when adding/updating information. The links I gave you in the welcome template might help with that. Referencing for beginners definitely will. Good sources to use are newspapers, books, etc. Basically, anything that goes through an editorial process.
As for conversions, you can use {{To USD}} or {{To EUR}} (for Euros) for that. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 06:45, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Declined speedy deletion: Murugan

edit

Hi, I dream of horses! I wanted to let you know that I have declined your G12 speedy deletion nomination of Murugan for two reasons:

  1. The sections of the article that supposedly contained copyrighted material could be removed. In some cases, it's better to remove the copyrighted material from the article, then request that article revisions containing copyrighted material be deleting (i.e., WP:REVDEL).
  2. The sources cited for copyrighted material copied from Wikipedia, rather than vice versa. Looking at the flickr source, for example, you can see that the author included "WIKIPEDIA" at the end of the text to indicate the text was from Wikipedia. Additionally, the information in both sources was in the Wikipedia article before those sources were created.

Thank you for keeping a look out and working to make Wikipedia a valuable resource! Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 15:13, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello there! I’m JAFactsDude, and I am the original created of Draft:Hurricane Isaac (2024) and I want to let you know my draft has been getting vandalized by someone for hours. I did not want it submitted, it isn’t finished, and someone keeps messing everything up. I keep reverting but the person keeps vandalizing. You declined the article around 20 minutes ago because someone vandalized and submitted it, and I belive their user is Cyclonetrackingoz, if they can be punished in any way, that would help. Their user was created today and they were also vandalizing without having an account yet, and he created his user only to vandalize my draft. Can any of this be fixed? Speedy deletion declined: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel

edit

Hello I dream of horses. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: plausible redirect. Thank you. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 13:32, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Firefangledfeathers That CSD nomination was actually a sneaky way to get someone else to confirm that it was actually, in fact, a plausible redirect. A bit of a sanity check, if you will. So, yeah, thanks for doing that. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 15:42, 8 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why is it that my article has not been approved

edit

3 hours ago I finish editing articles and it has not been approved what is the problem Edehblog (talk) 10:48, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Edehblog The problem is that the article you wrote is already in mainspace, and doesn't need approval in the same way a draft would. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 13:50, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Edehblog In fact, because Officaillychibuzor reverted me moving the article into draftspace, I've gone ahead and nominated the article for a deletion discussion. It simply can't exist in mainspace as is. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 14:00, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
You can still correct the article and approve it, they is nothing bad in the article Officaillychibuzor (talk) 14:36, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Officaillychibuzor The problem is that the article isn't sourced properly. Why is it important to you and @Edehblog that this article exists? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 14:40, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think another editor has edited it and before you make mention of sourced properly if you check well you will see that his information is all around the social media and Google too
maybe you should edit it to your test Officaillychibuzor (talk) 15:15, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Officaillychibuzor I tried Googling. I got mostly press releases, which aren't independent of Lucky Ekeh (since he/his team paid for them). Now, please answer the question about why you want the article to exist so urgently. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 15:28, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear mentor I need your supervision on my draft

edit

Dear mentor I need your supervision on my draft. I had a draft recently and I was able to edit some mistakes that I had during creating it

now if possible, and you find the time, I was wondering can you please check it again so if its good, I resubmit it?

and I do have one more question

I uploaded some image of the person that I was writing about. they got deleted and I emailed the staff and he kept asking the same question every time I answered

I even managed to connect with Armin Rajaei who was depicted in the photos and tell him to send the consent form but he also faced the same issue

this Alfred Neumann guy keeps telling us why you are copyright holder even though he created his own posters and yes his agent took the photos but he edited them and paid the agent to do so. I mean I get it that we should protect Wikipedia but it shouldn't be this hard to upload photos of some one specially if they are famous figures. I even tried VR form and we did everything we could but he keeps sending us the same massage over and over and we don't have clear answer. I was a fan of Armin and I had the opportunity to work with him on some projects and he taught me so many techniques I thought its my obligation to write this draft and pay back the knowledge he gave to me and I will write it in neutral point of view from now on and use sources for every claim. but at every bit of trying to do so I'm stuck and now that he is also frustrated I feel ashamed and not satisfied of telling him to massage directly. I also read a lot of articles for copyright here but I didn't get the answer

my question is this: could you please tell me the easiest way to have the photos in article without getting the same massage from Alfred Neumann again or maybe fair use? Mahdiye amjadi (talk) 07:30, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Mahdiye amjadi Per the message box at the top of this page, I don't review drafts on request.
As for the uploading of the photo, typically it's the photographer or the company they're working for that owns the copyright, not whoever is depicted or who edits it, etc. It's simply how copyright law works. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 13:31, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I didn't want a review I simply wanted guidance
its ok I now did it my self I will keep editing until it fits Wikipedia terms.
could you please tell me why I dont have a resubmit button anymore? Mahdiye amjadi (talk) 14:18, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Marking CSD'ed articles as reviewed

edit

Hi, I dream of horses! I noticed that you recently marked LinuxKit as reviewed after it had been nominated for CSD by another user. Please note that articles nominated for speedy deletion should not be marked as reviewed during an new page patrol. Articles nominated for AfD may be marked as patrolled because their notability will be determined by the community. However, a page marked for speedy deletion (or PROD) may not end up being deleted and thus, will still need to be reviewed. I hope this makes sense! Let me know if you have any questions. :) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 03:49, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Operation Coat redirect

edit

Hoi @I dream of horses. I did indeed convert the redirection page of operation coat into a proper article page, since I found 2 sources ( Rohwer and Stephen ) that mention that operation Coat is in fact not another name for operation MB8, but one of the several operations that together formed Operation MB8. Actually the article page of operation MB8 lists Operation Coat as such as well. I had informed on this on the talk page of the redirect. So I thought it would be proper to remove the redirect, so that when you refer to operation coat, you do not land at page MB8 anymore, but at the Operation Coat page. Other sub-operations of operation MB8 like operation judgement have their own page as well.

In your comment for the revert you mention to put it back to better sourced article, but i'm not sure if that means there are better sources that state that Operation Coat is same as operation MB8 ? Could you give some more detail to the revert reasoning ? Klutserke (talk) 10:37, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Klutserke I'm not quite sure I understand. The Operation MB8 is organized in a way that makes it clear that operation coat is, in fact, one of the several operations that together formed Operation MB8. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:14, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Maybe this part of the intro of the Operation MB8 is helpful to clarify my point :
It ( Operation MB8) consisted of Operation Coat, Operation Crack, Convoy MW 3, Convoy ME 3, Convoy AN 6 and the main element Operation Judgement (the Battle of Taranto) Klutserke (talk) 18:35, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Klutserke That reads like an incomplete sentence. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 19:27, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@I dream of horses Ok, then here I go in my own words :
  • Operation MB8 is the name given to a set of operations which were carried out more or less simultaneously.
  • These set of operations include operation Coat, operation Crack, Convoy MW3, Convoy ME3, Convoy AN6 and operation Judgement.
Since 'Operation Coat' is not the same as Operation MB8, I want to remove the redirect page of operation coat to operation MB8.
Hope this clarifies Klutserke (talk) 19:38, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Klutserke So, these operations are related to each other somehow, right? Like, they all happened at the same time. What potential would they have if they all had their own article? Wouldn't anyone interested in Operation Coat be interested in Operation MB8? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 20:13, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@I dream of horses Both Operation Coat and Operation Judgement are part of Operation MB8. Operation Judgement has its own page. Operation Coat is less important and I'm not sure if at this stage it needs its own page. My initial concern was to avoid confusion when I'm putting a link in an article to Operation Coat ( like I did in the article about HMS Sheffield ). Instead of either appearing red, or link to the yet-to-be-created operation Coat article, it refers now to operation MB8 because of the redirection page, which is not correct as the Sheffield only participated in Operation Coat. Klutserke (talk) 20:38, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Klutserke Operation Judgement doesn't have its own article, per se, but is mentioned under both the Operation MB8 and Battle of Taranto articles.
Redirects don't really cause confusion. Once you start creating articles, you know redirects exist, or at least can figure out how they work. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 20:44, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Could you advise then how to deal with the 'Operation Coat' link on the HMS Sheffield article ? Klutserke (talk) 21:26, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

There is no operation coat link on the HMS Sheffield article. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 21:29, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Well that'smy point : if you ctrl-F 'operation coat' you will easily find the text in the HMS Sheffield article. If you then edit and search for a link, you will see that because of the redirect page of Operation coat, you cannot choose 'operation coat' as a link but you're forced to choose 'Operation MB8'. How can this be avoided other than to remove the redirect page ? Klutserke (talk) 21:44, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Klutserke I tried Ctrl + F, can't find the phrase "operation coat." I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 22:06, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's hee in this sniplet :
=== Force H ===
The surrender of France created a void in the Western Mediterranean which was covered by stationing a strong British force, known as Force H, in Gibraltar on 27 June under the command of Vice admiral James Somerville.[1] In August 1940, Sheffield and the 8th Destroyer Flotilla joined Force H, which consisted at that time of the battlecruiser Renown and the aircraft carrier Ark Royal.[2] On 7 November Force H executed Operation Coat which involved escorting reinforcements for the Mediterranean fleet in Alexandria on their first leg from Gibraltar to Malta Klutserke (talk) 22:11, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

A message from Drewphotoboy regarding the removal of the Daily Mail reference.

edit

Hi I Dream of Horses

Thnaks for your work on the Calvine UFO page - much appreciated.

I have however undone the edit that you made removing the Daily Mail

I realise that as a tabloid paper the UK based Daily Mail may not be considered a reliable or trusted source HOWEVER I feel that in this case it is essential to include a reference to the story concerned.

The subject the page concerns - the Calvine UFO sighting - was really only a rumour until Mr Craig Lindsay provide his testimony and the original photograph was discovered by David Clarke. It was the Daily Mail who first published both the photograph and Mr Craig Lindsay's eyewitness account - which is the only first-hand account of the story in existence - in their story of the 12th of August 2022.

Both the photograph and Mr Lindsay's account are essential to the history of the Calvine UFO and despite any concerns about the reliability of the Mail as a source, the evidence of both Lindsay's account and the photograph are accurately represented in the story.

It was the publication in the Daily Mail that triggered the international interest in the photograph (which in time subsequent sections of the page will examine), and which elevated awareness of the sighting and image and led to numerous other stories in reliable media and on TV, radio and other outlets - as such its is essential to reference this story as the ORIGINAL source of both the photograph and Craig Lindsay's testimony on the Calvine UFO page.

If it helps, I can provide context on the page regarding this?

Do let me know if you require any further info.

Best Wishes

Drewphotoboy

@Drewphotoboy I'm not going to do a re-revert, but do realize that the daily mail is so unreliable, it's been "deprecated" by the community. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 15:34, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Thanks for your message. After a little researching I can see that Wikipedia has “depreciated” the Daily Mail and the debate this has caused. I’m not a fan of this publication and it’s right of centre views however it is the UKs biggest selling newspaper so this decision is surprising to someone based in the UK. That however is a different issue to my reasoning for including it on the Calvine UFO page. This page is about a real and authentic event, documented in genuine UK Ministry of Defence documents and the first publication of the only authentic photograph of this event, which was discovered by a recognised journalist, author and academic (Dr David Clarke) happened to be first published in the Daily Mail leading to worldwide interest in the story and the photograph concerned. Regardless of the standing of the paper concerned not being able to reference the first publication of this image, and the first person testimony of Mr Craig Lindsay (which was then checked and covered by other reputable ‘non-depreciated’ newspapers, news outlets and magazines) would leave the Calvine UFO Page incomplete and inaccurate. I feel in this case this is a justified use of a reference to this paper.
Thanks Drewphotoboy (talk) 16:29, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Drewphotoboy Actually, I disagree that removing the Daily Mail source would leave the Calvine UFO Page incomplete and inaccurate precisely because it was then checked and covered by other reputable ‘non-depreciated’ newspapers, news outlets and magazines. Question from Drew Stanley (19:00, 22 October 2024)

edit

Hello Are employees of the Catholic church allowed to edit articles about Catholicism (like Cistercians)? Drew Stanley (talk) 19:00, 22 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Drew Stanley You're asking about a conflict of interest. The conflict of interest here would be the employee being financially motivated to not irritate their employer (the Catholic Church) by casting them in a negative light, and Wikipedias interest in keeping things as neutral as possible. If there's any question about a conflict of interest existing, one should use methods like articles for creation and the edit request wizard to have someone else check over their edits.
If you want more specific advice, you'll need to provide more context. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 19:06, 22 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
More context: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Cistercians
we could recommend ERW, and there should be a third opinion soon

Drew Stanley (talk) 19:11, 22 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Drew Stanley Melchior2006 is almost in a gray area...but not quite. The way that the Catholic church works is that he is not employed by the entire order of the Cistercian, but by one Cistercian order in particular to be a historian, which actually makes him a subject matter expert. On top of that, I actually agree with the reverted edits; you reverted a more neutral, sourced edit for a slightly less neutral (though still sourced) one, and added back an excessive amount of images. Hi there, I'm not very familiar with wikipedia, and you seem to know what you're doing. Would you be able to assist with some questions regarding a page please? Thanks so much :)

Theword2000 (talk) 17:20, 19 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Theword2000 Sure, what's your question? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:58, 19 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm looking after a friend who somebody created a wikipedia page on. I believe its meant to be unbiassed but whoever is writing the page is wording things to be very negative and one sided. He is also in a legal dispute with a news organisation who are publishing un verified stories and my friend has never spoken to the press once, so these stories are also very one sided. From what my research has deduced there is a person in particular based in the South Island of New Zealand who is behind most of these edits. I'm very concerned as the contents is not accurate and tehre are some things in there that are just not at all true. What can be done please as my friend has alreay tried to take his own life as a result of things being written about him and its seems that Wikipedia has no comeback. I applied to have the page deleted by that request has now disappeared from the page. Thanks so much, really apprecaite any advice. Kind regards, Darryl. Theword2000 (talk) 16:06, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Theword2000 If you're talking about Alex Breingan, which you are now blocked from editing by Gadfium, I would suggest you email info-en-q wikimedia.org about the legal issues involved. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:10, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I want to jump in here too @Theword2000. I have been following the story here in NZ out of curiosity. And I do have to agree, all the news articles under the financial issues, except for one is written by one reporter. This should be addressed. Wikipedia takes things not true seriously and to address it further, I would suggest that you do email the above email: info-en-qwikimedia.org.
But yes, the single reporter seems to have a personal side on the subject and so finding anything about him he seems to publish which due to the high profile side of things, end up being referenced here. Remember, everything here is sourced from articles. I saw things about a recent Los Angeles issue about furniture.
This is more of a civil dispute and shouldn't be on there along with searching about aliases. etc. This section should just focus on the difficult situation with the production company, that's all. Maybe something that @Gadfium could help clean up? Not sure. It's very one-sided from a single reporter. I can understand how it's causing the subject emotional stress. Or can we take the page to a deletion request? Anyways, that's my view and I just wanted to jump in. MonkeyMonkeyHere (talk) 18:25, 20 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks very much, and yes from what I understand a lot of the reporting is actually just not true. The alias point is not even news as Alex have been operating under Alex James for decades as that was his name when he was a rtadio presenter in the UK in the 1990's. The later Darci Penn alias is just bizarre as it was related to an algorythm issue with IMDB when for about 1 week allm of Alex's credits in all of his TV shows were replaced by somebody called Darci Penn who upon some research is a woman in her 30's in Northern Califonia! Alex is a 52 year old english man! And he has since managed to get IMDB to rectify. Thanks once again for your assistance and advice. Darryl. Theword2000 (talk) 01:09, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello! Yes I have also flagged this to a few forums to get help. Yes, it seems to be an IMDb issue which was flagged by the media, most likely by accident due to the media storm. But I will do my best to help flag this for you. Everything that was created on Wikipedia is sourced and nothing is written made up. However the view and balance is all off balance. A small section of the issues is enough but not every single matter. I have requested to clean it up. I hope this will help your friend be less stressed. I see the page is now locked. Please also write the concerns on the talk page as I did too. You can do your best to request the page for deletion too. There isn't much you can do regarding editors here as they wouldn't know the impact of those who are the subjects, they are just trying to grow the community and online encyclopedia. This all comes down the sources which I saw was from a single reporter so this POV isn't correct and not a fair statement to have. I will do what I can to reach out and help further. MonkeyMonkeyHere (talk) 01:14, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Actually are you able to do a deletion request please? That would be amazing as its pretty dire. Alex also has a disabled wife to look after and life isn't easy. Its bad enough that his daughter doesn't want to be known by the surname Breingan any more due to the press and the wikipedia article as it comes up top on google. Thanks once again, Darryl. Theword2000 (talk) 01:27, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@MonkeyMonkeyHere, @Theword2000: Someone (probably Alex or someone legally representing him) truly does need to email info-en-q wikimedia.org, as has already been suggeted twice before I started typing this. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 01:36, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes. @Theword2000 - these are your solutions. As the info from Wiki is cited from articles, anyone can add this. If the information is incorrect, Wikipedia wouldn't allow it but if you think it's wrong you need to Email that email: info-en-qwikimedia.org as mentioned earlier. The photo on the article seems to also now been requested for deletion due to copyright so that will just disappear once the deletion request is completed. Please alternatively write your concerns in the TALK page of the subject page. This will bring up disputes for solutions too.
As for the sake of your well-being. Normally a statement given to the press about how information is incorrect is the way forward. With it being high profile, this would most likely be added to the article. As you have commented in several areas how a legal dispute is happening, the outcome of this would most likely be published too.
We hope this gives you some clarity. Also do note if you're friends with the subject, Alex, it would be best to declare COI and also to mention about the difficult situation with the article. Best. MonkeyMonkeyHere (talk) 08:16, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, can you tell me if that email would be confidential and not end up being published? I think Alex is very gun shy having experienced the lengths reporters will go to discredit him. Much appreciated, Darryl. Theword2000 (talk) 18:59, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Theword2000 My understanding is that the email will be confidential. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 19:01, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Darryl. I see that some editors have removed some of the information on the article. I can't reiterate this enough and same with what @I dream of horses said. If something isn't true that is written there, Alex or a legal representative of Alex must email that email. This way, their team can look at the facts from Alex himself to clean up the article. Again; this information is simply cited from the press which the Herald is deemed reliable but if it's not true, see Wikipedia:Libel, you can email that earlier email with your concerns. Thank you. This page states Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Help 'If you wish to discuss the matter privately, you can email the Volunteer Response Team at info-en-q@wikimedia.org. Yes this is my understanding too. MonkeyMonkeyHere (talk) 19:02, 21 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, I've now emailed that address you recommended. Thanks very much, Darryl. Theword2000 (talk) 22:36, 22 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Idk if this going to a real person or not I never use Wikipedia before lol, as well I think it cool they aigaim a mentor for new people --Scarletthegodoftheuniverse (talk) 08:16, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Scarletthegodoftheuniverse A lot of people who edit Wikipedia are autistic, including myself. I've added links to your talk page, which is located at User talk:Scarletthegodoftheuniverse. One of those links, Special:Homepage, will take you to tutorials which you can go through at your own pace.
Writing articles from scratch is one of the more difficult tasks. It's hard to find a topic that's been noted by enough people to qualify for an article. It's easier if you find sources first and summarize the sources, but not all sources are reliable. On top of that, sometimes a source turns out to be someone talking about themselves; if that's all you can find, that person doesn't qualify for an article. It's probably best to start out with smaller edits and go from there. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 11:08, 23 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

My edit

edit

@I dream of horses Hi! I have seen that you removed the edit I made on the article for the Ancient walls of Durrës, however, the last section of the article should be removed, as it was taken directly with the content from of a website, the entire content on it. The first section about history is written by me and it should be kept. Also the gallery section should be kept. Can you revert only these two sections to be available on the article and don't revert the "present day" section as this is the content I copied from a website. Thanks BelAmi236632 (talk) 23:23, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@BelAmi236632 We don't accept any fully copyrighted material on Wikipedia, as everything on Wikipedia (except, ironically enough, the logo) is partially copyrighted. I doubt you'd want to waive enough of your copyright to make it eligible to be put on Wikipedia. Also, your writing style, while something one would find in an engaging travel book, isn't something one would find in a more clinical encyclopedia. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 23:30, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@I dream of horses Can I re-edit just the History and the Gallery sections with the same content? They seem to be fine. I wrote the History section in my own words for what I have learned on the internet and on the media about this matter. Thanks BelAmi236632 (talk) 23:34, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@BelAmi236632 If it's published elsewhere on the internet, we know for certain it's fully copyrighted, and cannot accepted the material. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 23:36, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@I dream of horses No, the content I wrote on the History section isn't published anywhere on the internet, with the words I used. It is also written correctly and it is the true content about the matterof the article. So you should revert it or allow me to rewrite it. This article shouldn't be kept with a few information like it is for now. Thanks BelAmi236632 (talk) 23:47, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@BelAmi236632 The copyrighted content in the article came from a blog and a newsletter article. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 23:49, 24 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@I dream of horses I know that I have added content from a blog and a newspaper. However on the English Wikipedia and on other Wikipedias there are articles that the content is taken from websites, as the editors don't find particular information about the article that needs to be filled. In this case, for the blog I haven't added all the content found on the blog (I added only the content related to the article, and not 100% of the content related to the article which is written on the blog). So you should do an exemption for the blog since it is written from a source published by a simple user, not a media agency. I also edited the content and fixed it to fit for the manner of the article. Thanks for understanding BelAmi236632 (talk) 00:28, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@BelAmi236632 That isn't legally possible, as it's actually a violation of copyright law. What we actually do is summarize sources in our words, and fill in information that way. We don't copy and paste things from the internet. This is to protect you, since even "simple users" hire lawyers and file lawsuits, and also to protect the reputation and the very existence of Wikipedia. Question About Article Submission Feedback

edit

Hello, I dream of horses,

Thank you for reviewing my article submission on Kumar Saurabh in the Articles for Creation process. I noticed that the submission was declined as it appeared to duplicate another pending article. I appreciate your feedback and understand the importance of streamlining reviews.

However, I wanted to note that the other draft has been inactive for over 50 days, with no improvements made during this time. If possible, I would appreciate it if my submission could be considered on its own merits, as I’ve tried to ensure it meets Wikipedia’s standards.

Thank you again for your time, and I would be grateful for any guidance you can provide.

Best regards,

@Serajgokul For reasons of transparency, please improve the draft linked in the decline message. How did a redirect wind up in draft space?

For about the last eight years, this has been a redirect. A new editor was removing the redirect but never added content. Why did you move the redirect to draft space? —C.Fred (talk) 13:20, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@C.Fred I'm a bit curious to see if anyone would actually add content under this very specific set of circumstances. I know that reasoning probably wouldn't adhere strictly to WP:DRAFTIFY and wouldn't be offended if someone moved it back and added the redirect back. How come ? Mee Massa (TV series)

edit

@I dream of horses hi I do not want to be the one to nominate this Mee Massa (TV series) for deletion as I know how it feels to have an article get deleted i would have loved to work and expand the article like I always do but I couldn't find any reliable source both secondary and primary source to use reason why I added the notability tag to it maybe another editor can do more digging and find more source for the article but from my own understanding it thinks it doesn't qualify for a stand-alone article Afro 📢Talk! 15:08, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Afrowriter What the article needs is for someone to perform a "before search" or "Google test". If that fails, nomination for deletion might be needed. I know that's unfortunate, but it's important to keep a perspective that nobody "owns" an article. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 15:22, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@I dream of horses "I agree with you. I noticed that the creator moved the article back to the mainspace after you had moved it to draft space. a WP:BEFORE should be conducted. If the article fails this test, I suggest it be moved back to WP:DRAFT for further improvement. If the creator insists on moving it back to the mainspace, a nomination for deletion may be necessary." Afro 📢Talk! 15:37, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Afrowriter Actually, barring someone with a conflict of interest moving it back to mainspace, we have to skip the whole "move it back again" thing per WP:DRAFTIFY. In fact, even with a COI, it's questionable. A page may only be moved unilaterally to the draftspace a single time. If anyone objects, it is no longer an uncontroversial move, and the page needs to be handled through other processes, such as deletion, stubbing, tagging, etc. I think it being moved back counts as an objection.
But mainly, it's not like they'll improve anything without a deletion nomination, unfortunately. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 16:53, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Stimming images

edit

I've been too busy lately to contribute in the volume I once did. I would like to see the two images from stimming restored, but I can see how perhaps they may fit better on another page. Still, I think that if the stimming page were expanded, perhaps we could restore all five images and they wouldn't seem so cramped for space. At the very least I think we should have a writeup about chewelry somewhere. If not on stimming, then a page of its own. I just havent got the free time — and i admit probably not the willpower — to write up a freestanding article about chewelry these days. Best wishes, Soap 18:49, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Soap I'm not exactly big on article writing and expansion myself. [understatement] But yeah, I'd be agreeable to adding the images back if the stimming article were expanded.
Another application for chewelry, besides stimming, is redirecting teething infants away from biting whoever's holding them, so I agree. That warrants its own article. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 18:54, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

General Authority for Research and Identifying Missing Persons in Libya

edit

Hi I dream of horses. You draftified General Authority for Research and Identifying Missing Persons in Libya, but Draft:The General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons, Libya already exists. The same user created both pages, but created the draft first. They submitted it to AfC, but it was declined. They then skipped AfC and went straight to the mainspace for their second attempt. I'm not sure two drafts by the same person on the same subject are needed. If a WP:HISTMERGE isn't appropriate here, perhaps the older draft should be deleted. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:01, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Marchjuly Yikes! This sometimes happens. There's a decline reason that more or less states that we are dealing with a duplicated draft, and that's another option if they choose to resubmit. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 12:37, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Enlightening is for all First of all, what are cloud share links? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 03:02, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
from what i read, explains that the machine network is not connected. so like the vm adapters are offline not allowing the system to follow the set path for the established link set in article.. Enlightening is for all (talk) 12:16, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

List of Indian state reptiles

edit

Hi, I see you moved List of Indian state reptiles to mainspace. The given source for the information doesn't seem to include anything on reptiles though[3]. Can you indicate which source in the article verifies the info on the page? I have a hard time verifying this online. Fram (talk) 09:40, 30 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
