Hi Adrian. I noticed you were updating the In the news section of Portal:Video games so I've gone ahead and reinstated the section there. You'll notice from the ITN history that I've attempted to keep it up to date a couple of times before and ended up having it fall by the wayside, if that happens with you too just undo my Portal edit to remove the section again tidily. Dreams open world?
Just wanted to ask this really quickly, but did they ever explicitly state that dreams was an open world game? I remember he called it an "open dreamiverse", but I don't know if that would make it an open world game. Although, it kinda looks like the Playstation equivalent of Project Spark, so maybe? Just wanted to get some clarification in that one. ThanksDohvahkiin (talk) 11:04, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- I honestly have no idea what Dreams is. But I suggest that we should wait until more details about the game appear. "Open dreamiverse" don't really mean anything though, and that we should not try to interpret what it really means. But what I am thinking is that it means "players are free to create stuff" instead of "open-world". That's just a my guess. AdrianGamer (talk) 14:55, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- So in other words, it's probably best not to have it in the category as of this moment? If that's the case, I'll take it out of the category, just let me know before I doDohvahkiin (talk) 15:20, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, you should remove it for now. AdrianGamer (talk) 15:40, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

edit: TMazzio (talk) 11:22, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- It went too in-depth in talking about alien units, which may violate WP:GAMECRUFT. These information are acceptable, but should be written very briefly in the article. AdrianGamer (talk) 12:44, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

06:54:58, 30 July 2015 review of submission by Eterna S
Hi, I submitted a page about SOHO 3Q and it's been rejected twice because it "read like an advertisement." I wonder if it has to do with the fact that most of the sources I cited are Chinese sources, and therefore are not seen as legit sources? All the information in this page came from legitimate and independent Chinese news sources.
Would appreciate your advice on how this page might be edited.
Many thanks.
Eterna S (talk) 06:54, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
- @Eternas: The problem is not with the sources. The problem is that your submission sounds like an advertisement, especially with the Amenities section. It is not neutral enough, and that it looks like something extracted from a promotional leaflet instead of a proper article. There is some other problems as well. There is no link to other article. The lead does not summarize the article well. It is not broken up into several sections, and that there is a lot of one-sentence paragraphs which is not good. Turtle Rock Copy Edit
Hello:
I have just about completed the c/e of your article Turtle Rock. I have a few comments which you might wish to clarify in the article.
In section "Turtle Rock 1.0"
- “Upon the release of Source, the company wanted to work on a new intellectual property, and gained support from Valve.” -- are you referring here to the wizard combat game in the next paragraph? In which case isn't that sentence better there? And really, they didn't want to create "intellectual property" they wanted to create a game which can be described as intellectual property. Perhaps that's not the right term to use?
In the section "Valve South"
- ”…Valve Corporation announced that it had purchased Turtle Rock in an effort to expand the company's Los Angeles market.” – can you explain this? Surely the company’s market is the world with the games they are producing?
If you could let me know when you've had a chance to work on these two items, I will finish the copy edit and advise the GOCE that it's complete. Kind regards. Twofingered Typist (talk) 13:08, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Dragon Age: Inquisition debate
Hey, I agree that the developer have said that it isn't an open world game, as supported by this: http://www.vg247.com/2013/09/11/dragon-age-inquisition-isnt-open-world-is-multi-region-says-bioware/ However, they contradict themselves on their official website for the game: http://www.bioware.com/en/games/#dragon-age-inquisition Like I stated on the talk page, I'd like to play it safe and keep it in the category because of the fact that these contradict themselves. However, I figured I'd get your consent before we make a final decision on that. Dohvahkiin (talk) 13:04, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
- They really seem to contradict each other. Well, I did not realize that before. Since the game's official website stated that it is an "open-world" game, it should be one. Feel free to keep that category. AdrianGamer (talk) 13:17, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

You can request a peer review for your article, so that others can give feedback to it before you properly push it to GAN. AdrianGamer (talk) 14:26, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

Wrong use of vandal template (by me, maybe?)
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3ACzar&type=revision&diff=684264744&oldid=684264662
Here you (within seconds) removed some changes I made, without comment. Did I use the vandal template wrongly? (I assumed I'd put it with the user and they'd show up in some sort of category from then on?) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.196.204.46 (talk) 16:22, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
Splinter cell edits
Here you make some really quite deep cuts. I like what you did with the top (obviously) but the differences between different versions (cross platform) is worthy of report somewhere even if it isn't on that article. I would like to discuss this at some point. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.196.204.46 (talk) 16:32, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
Bit annoying - but another "query" about deleted information
If you would look here you'll see some (possibly) good content - this was deleted but it's "more information" on the people modeled by the game. Now yes, it is made by EA so there should be like maybe 6 in the game and 6 levels of DLC with their own extra characters (or hats for characters, or colour of some item of clothing) but none the less, there seems to be good info here.
I would rather fix it than scrap it, wouldn't you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.196.204.46 (talk) 16:36, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- If you want to fix it, go for it (be bold). Otherwise, the standard procedure is to removed unsourced information. We're in the middle of cleaning a backlog of articles tagged for cleanup since around 2011 and you're welcome to join in: Category:Video game cleanup. But if something's been tagged for cleanup for four years, it likely won't be sourced any time soon. czar 18:34, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Czar: - you've been replacing stuff with useless redirects and checking them off your "tidying up list" - that is awful. How can you ask me to when you will not yourself?
- I don't think that's an sufficient summary. As I've said elsewhere, the burden of sourcing additions is on the editor adding them. If you are able to find reliable, secondary sources, go for it. If not, the content doesn't belong on WP. czar 01:11, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

DDR
The unsourced DDR articles are going to end up merged to a list (eventually—I've been putting it off, myself). I'd keep the track listings even though the articles are unsourced if only to preempt the inevitable complaining. There's not going to be much in this list apart from the track listings, reviews, and changes to the basic gameplay. czar 14:54, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
- Alright, I would stay away from these DDR articles for now. AdrianGamer (talk) 15:07, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Obsidian
I finished the bulk of my copy-editing of Obsidian Entertainment. I will go back tomorrow when I'm well rested and give it some more polish if it needs it (or fix any mistakes I made... my spelling can get pretty bad at 1:00 AM).
When you changed the section headers, I got an edit conflict and it somehow managed to wipe out about an hour and a half's worth of work. I went back and did all of the changes again, learning a valuable/painful lesson about the visual editor in the process. It's certainly not your fault, so no hard feelings. I did wind up deleting your edit while I was trying to recover my work though, so if the dates in the section headers are still wrong, please go ahead and fix them.
I didn't spend a lot of time comparing the prose to the sources - I only looked at the sources when I needed to know how to reword a few things - but I did wind up removing something that I couldn't find the source for, the part where Obsidian didn't get a bonus for New Vegas.
Other than that, the only thing that I'd change is that I'd split the table into two tables. One would be for the games Oblivion developed and the other would be for the games that Oblivion assisted on but wasn't the primary developer for. I'd move Wasteland 2 into the second table and add Bard's Tale IV to it.
Your rewrite of the article was incredibly comprehensive. It's very good work.

- @The Squirrel Conspiracy: - Thank you very much for your copyedit! I did not expect that. It is very nice of you. Your help would definitely make the GAN I have planned for the article a much smoother experience! AdrianGamer (talk) 12:34, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

Sunset Overdrive C/E
Hello AdrianGamer: I appreciate your thanks for the c/e of your article on Sunset Overdrive. I hope I have done it justice. I am not a gamer and had to refer to your sources on several occasions to understand the text. Please let me know if you have any issues or concerns.
You will have perhaps noticed that I archived a couple of your citations - 3 and 4 and I would strongly suggest that you archive the rest as time allows. That ensures your article's references are available "forever". The site I use is https://archive.org/web/. Simply copy the url in your citation and paste it in the box on the archive.org site and click save. It creates a copy of the original page and provides you with a new url to add to your original citation. If you look at one of the url's I've archived you'll see the syntax. You add the new url to the end of the original citation like this: |archiveurl= http etc|archivedate=6 Novemeber 2015}} Not all websites allow archiving - CBS TV news and the NY Times are two I've come across, so there's not much you can do about that unless there is an alternate citation you could use.

Adding citations is like playing fill in the blanks, but you cannot forget this part (<ref>{{cite web|url= |title= |first= |last= |work= |date= |accessdate= }}</ref>), which is equally important. Also, please write the entire date (November 4, 2015) instead of simply Nov 4, 2015. Here is an example for you. AdrianGamer (talk) 10:18, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

A question on a game's critical reception.
Hello, I was editing Fallout 4's opening line to add the sales figures. I looked at last years GOTY winners and saw they were all received as critically acclaimed despite them both being under 90 on metacritic. So would fallout have to win Game of the Year awards for it to be critically acclaimed? I am very confused on this subject. Ferret, the user who told me about only using metacritic since it can be sourced, will not allow the reception status to be changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JustObserver (talk • contribs) 02:45, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
- Fallout 4 isn't really winning lots of GOTY so I think "positive reviews" suit well. We can use "critical acclaim" when Metacritic gives it a 90 or above score, or when it is winning a lot and a lot of GOTY, which I believe is an indication of "critical acclaim". (like Dragon Age: Inquisition, which is often considered as the best game of 2014) AdrianGamer (talk) 03:03, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
Okay, that makes sense. However, Fallout 4 has been winning Game of the Year awards. My source is http://gotypicks.blogspot.com/, which is a blog that lists other websites GOTY on that specific year. Fallout 4 has 20. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JustObserver (talk • contribs) 03:22, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
- To be honest the publication that gave Fallout 4 are unreliable or questionable. (Full list of reliable sources see WP:VG/S) And once again, it isn't winning a lot and a lot of GOTYs. AdrianGamer (talk) 03:34, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
Understood. Thanks for clarifying. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JustObserver (talk • contribs) 03:39, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2 song list
Hey there, User:AdrianGamer. I'm wondering about this[1] edit, where you removed the song list from the article for DDR Extreme 2. Was it only because the reference did not detailed enough, or was the list inaccurate? I was thinking that we could re-add it, with a 'citation needed' tag, until one can be found. Rather than just revert your edits, I'd rather consult with you first. :) Cheers! Boomer VialHolla 18:02, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 12 is better than 6
A tag has been placed on 12 is better than 6 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Starbreeze Studios
Hello AdrianGamer: The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Starbreeze Studios has been completed. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
You will have perhaps noticed that I archived two of the article's citations (#1 and #2) and I suggest that you archive the rest as time allows. This ensures that the article's references are available "forever" and that it doesn’t develop “dead links” over time. The site I use is https://archive.org/web/. Simply copy the url in your citation and paste it in the box on the archive.org site and click save. It creates a copy of the original page and provides you with a new url to add to your original citation. If you look at one of the url's I've archived you'll see the syntax. You add the new url to the end of the original citation like this: |archiveurl= http etc|archivedate=13 February 2015}}. Not all websites allow archiving - CBS TV news and the NY Times are two I've come across, so there's not much you can do about that unless there is an alternate citation you could use.
Kind regards, Twofingered Typist (talk) 14:06, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

Screenshots
Hi Adrian. I am a professor of Art History and recently wrote a book on aesthetics which I intent to self-publish. The purpose of the book is educational. In the book I wrote an article on the game Rise of the Tomb Raider and I used six small low resolution screenshots from the game in order illustrate my analysis. I tried to contact Crystal Dynamics through their Contact Us page. I explained to them that I would like permission to publish the screenshots but they never answered back. Should I go ahead and publish the screenshots claiming fair use? Since you have a lot of experience writing articles and reviews about games, what is your advice? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cmykos (talk • contribs) 09:19, 11 March 2016 (UTC)

Thank you Andrian. Let me know if you come up with an answer regarding permissions for screenshots from videogames. I don’t really understand why crystal dynamics does not answer my very simple question through their contact us web page. And there is nowhere their email that I can contact them through email. I contacted Universal studios about permission of screenshots from their films and they sent me an email immediately! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cmykos (talk • contribs) 21:21, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Dates by region
I noticed that you were going over the Sniper Elite games, changing the mdy to dmy dates because Rebellion is British. I was, however, told on my talk page by czar that there are no regional dates per se, as it is not part of the 'strong national ties' guidelines. Do you know otherwise? Lordtobi (✉) 09:53, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- I can see what you did there, as I just stumbled over MOS:DATETIES. Lordtobi (✉) 10:05, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- I thought we have been switching date format to one that matches with that of the developer's regions for quite a long time. It wasn't protested before as I recall. AdrianGamer (talk) 14:46, 20 March 2016 (UTC)
- Because it's an arcane practice to begin with. The only date standard on Wikipedia is to be consistent within an article and to not change the original date format unless there is consensus to do so. The only issues are when someone takes it upon themselves to batch change a bunch of articles without consensus. czar 14:54, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Fallout 4
I'm not trying to vandalize the article. I just think with the way the player character's personality is very much predetermined by the advent of voiced dialogue and limited dialogue choices on top of the particularly toned down character stats aspects the game distances itself from the RPG genre by leaving very little to the player's imagination.
First-person shooter isn't a perjorative any more than RPG is a compliment, it's just plainly the case that the game is decidedly first-person combat oriented with the player having minimal input in the actions of the main character. When the game totally revolves around shooting things in first-person I don't understand what makes it not a first-person shooter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.155.173.247 (talk) 10:05, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
- @109.155.173.247: - You need to find sources that support your claim. I understand that it looks like a first-person shooter, but we can only include or mention that when our reliable sources refer it as one. AdrianGamer (talk) 10:08, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
GOCE Copy Edit Request for Spec Ops: The Line
Hello AdrianGamer: The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Spec Ops: The Line has been completed.
You will notice that I have archived one the article’s citations (#3). I suggest that you archive the rest of the urls as time allows. If you look at the url I've archived you'll see the syntax. You add the new url to the end of the original citation like this: |archiveurl= http etc|archivedate=28 March 2016}}. Not all websites allow archiving - CBS TV news and the NY Times are two I've come across, so there's not much you can do about that unless there is an alternate citation you could use.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Kind regards,

"Information is not controversial"?
On the Mortal Kombat X article, I've noticed that you removed one of the citations at the beginning of the article. What do you mean by "information is not controversial"? DBZFan30 (talk) 04:49, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- Per WP:LEADCITE, citations are unnecessary unless the information presented is controversial. The PS3/X360 versions get cancelled isn't something controversial, so we don't need to add a source for it in the lead. AdrianGamer (talk) 08:19, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Binding of Isaac
Hey Adrian, I saw you were doing the games GA review, thought I would drop you a note letting you know there was also a big controversy about letting the game into the Apple App Store because the game contains "violence against children", or something to that effect and the article says not one word about it. That could be a good review point. :) Take care, Judgesurreal777 (talk) 13:07, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Judgesurreal777: Thanks for the reminder! :) AdrianGamer (talk) 13:38, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
- I think you guys missed it, nothing was added on this topic. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 22:27, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Judgesurreal777: Appstore rejected The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth instead of The Binding of Isaac. It should be mentioned in the Rebirth article instead. AdrianGamer (talk) 10:17, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
- My bad, didn't know there was a whole separate article on Rebirth. great job on another GA! Judgesurreal777 (talk) 15:11, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

Hey Adrian, I know it's been a while since you reviewed Blast Corps at GAN but it's at FAC now, and I'd be interested in your feedback, if you have any czar 07:19, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
- @Czar: I am sorry to disappoint, but I don't usually review articles at FAC. I am not familiar with the FA guideline, or its requirement. I don't think I will be a good FAC reviewer. AdrianGamer (talk) 14:20, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- Of course it's fine if you just aren't interested, but I wouldn't let unfamiliarity be a barrier. It works like GAN—read the guidelines, give a review, somewhat more thorough than at GAN. (I wouldn't have asked if I thought you wouldn't be good at it.) Take care, czar 16:37, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

MKX "Leadcite"
I've been adding the same citation to the Mortal Kombat X article and everything in the source is 100% true. I'm not going to add the same source again and i'm not trying to vandalize the article. In the edit summary, it says "Leadcite". What does that word mean? DBZFan30 (talk) 01:12, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
- @DBZFan30: I do not say you vandalize the article. Citations are unnecessary unless the information presented is controversial. AdrianGamer (talk) 04:13, 8 May 2016 (UTC)

Does WP:GAMECRUFT apply to Machinarium Soundtrack? Can some of the information available on Ori Soundtrack before the redirect be included in the main article? Triplecaña (talk) 21:51, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
- It applies on it as well. Soundtrack articles with only tracklists are unnecessary, and there is really not much to merge, because tracklist generally shouldn't be included in the game's article. I think a page on the soundtrack is doable, as the soundtrack was notable enough. (There are quite a lot of sources that mentioned the development process of the soundtrack.) If you expand it, add some development information to it, it may become a brilliant article instead. AdrianGamer (talk) 09:24, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
