Jared Lee Loughner archiving change

I've raised a potential issue with your edits here. Did your archiving bot parameter modification force the bot to archive an RfC awaiting a close? Viriditas (talk) 09:44, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Samuel B. Cooper, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Martin Dies (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of Matthew hussey

A tag has been placed on Matthew hussey, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

R3 - Unneed redirect as a result of a capitalization error

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Safiel (talk) 02:37, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

I didn't disagree w/ this reversion but that claim is just (as far as I can tell) being added to the lede. It's substantiated in the body (news reports + a statement from the senator's office). Just FYI. Thanks for keeping an eye on BLPs! Protonk (talk) 04:55, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

I'm a bit new to the process, I thought such a fact would be properly placed in the lede, and was cited in the body so I don't see why the reversion was made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.44.137.178 (talk) 06:46, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
Actually, didn't realize that it was in the lead, but it was. I probably could have let it stand, but to be on the safe side I reverted it. Also, placing it in the lead might have constituted a violation of WP:UNDUE. In any event, looks like they have reached a good balance in the article now. Safiel (talk) 18:16, 24 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. I saw you delisted Poundland as a GA here, noting that the neutrality issues had not been addressed. But I feel did address them, and I said so in the reassessment. No one replied to acknowledge the changes, but they also did not come up with any problems after my changes were made, so I am not sure why it was delisted as a GA. --Odie5533 (talk) 19:52, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

You were quite right to be hesitant about using G3 blatant hoax, but I have decided to speedy-delete it anyway, because in the 99% chance that it is a hoax, we don't want it spreading all over the internet via mirrors for a week, and in the 1% chance that it's true, it comes under the instruction in WP:BLP that unsourced contentious material about living persons "should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion". Yes - please delete the duplicate article. I was following directions from a tutorial, but I thought that I was working on a draft in my sandbox, not creating an actual page. Afradapis article

Hi Safiel, We have finished our project for the mock wiki article on the primate species Afradapis longicristatus. I'm currently swamped with finals and although it is not required for my assignment to upload the article to Wikipedia...why not. We put the work into it, might as well help everyone else with it. Anyways, I have never made a wiki page. Only minor edits. We created a word document to turn in, was wondering if I could send you or someone who just loves doing the coding and whatnot to make it live. 9 pages of content with many pictures. Everything is cited like a normal paper (Author, year).

Any idea how we can go about this? I'm so intimidated by the plain text editing page. -Tom

Renee Petropoulos

Do not remove CSD's from articles and give no reason. I'd suggest you not remove any CSD's as you don't know CSD policy. Bgwhite (talk) 05:24, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

I am WELL aware of CSD policy. If you had bothered to check, you would have seen that the CSD tag applied was CSD-A3, no content. There was PLENTY of content on the page when I removed that tag and it was a valid removal. And Wikipedia policy is quite clear, if CSD reasoning no longer applies, the article is no longer a candidate for Speedy Deletion. So please don't tell me that I don't know CSD policy. I have APPLIED CSD tags many times here, properly, with the articles in many cases ultimately ending up deleted. And on several occasions, I have REMOVED CSD tags, without anybody complaining. So again, I know what I am doing, I took the action I did for a valid reason and I will continue to apply and remove CSD tags, always within Wikipedia policy, just as I did at Renee Petropoulos. Safiel (talk) 14:55, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
You are missing my point "no longer applies" means nothing. You need to tell why it no longer applies, especially when A3 also doesn't mean "no content" as there can be content on the page and still be deleted by A3. Read up on what CSD-A3 means. I read what is on your talk page and your past history of applying CSD and it does show you have a higher rate than normal for errors. Bgwhite (talk) 18:09, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Lemony lark

Hello Safiel. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Lemony lark, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: sorry, but it is an essential part of A11 that the subject was invented by "the article's creator or someone they know personally", and there is no evidence of that here. Let the PROD take care of it. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 23:19, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

OK, apologies - your evidence on the PROD2 shows this is indeed a valid A11, deleted as such. Sorry about that, but people are being rather too enthusiastic about using A11 for any WP:NFT subject. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 10:18, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Your contributed article, The Big Five Pageants' Ranks

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, The Big Five Pageants' Ranks. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – List of major beauty pageant winners by country. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at List of major beauty pageant winners by country – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Safiel (talk) 06:19, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Concerning the Speedy Deletes

Hi, I put the speedy delete tags on the following pages, Sushuang, Behemosaurus, Pyrokerberus, and Antillodaeodon because I was contacted by the copyright holder of those subjects, who just found out that they were on Wikipedia, and wishes to have the pages, together with Arbaxoceras, deleted as soon as possible, as they are a part of an as of yet unpublished project of his, and the pages were made without his permission.--Mr Fink (talk) 17:21, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

I have reverted, however, you may want to post that on the administrators notice board and they will take appropriate action. I reverted the speedy's as they did not state a valid criterion. Safiel (talk) 17:23, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
I have, thank you for the explanation. I hope this situation gets resolved as soon as possible.--Mr Fink (talk) 17:28, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
I don't see anything proprietary on any of the pages and they should all be likely gone in a week under Articles for Deletion. Safiel (talk) 17:30, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I made this article myself and I want to delete it. What's the problem? I've researched for one year among the iranian pilots. I'm from one of the families of these pilots. Such a person (K. Sedghi) doesn't exist. Diako1971 (talk) 08:10, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Since I have created this article myself, can I request for deletion?Diako1971 (talk) 13:07, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
The reason I removed the PROD tag was that the article had already went through the Articles for Deletion process. Once it has gone to AfD, PROD can no longer be used. Safiel (talk) 14:30, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

Misplaced comment from user page

I have red your pro-deletion comment to my article about Mundo (the hun). It was not meaned as a hoax. Looking myself for further information on Mundo I have registered yesterday by night that there exists only the simple word in Wikipedia, but nothing more, so I decided to share the few details I know by reading here and there. I`m relatively new in the internet, so I can make technically mistakes. I`m a foreigner and English isn`t my mother tongue, so my grammar may be awful. But be it as it be, everyone can correct my mistakes. So I sat there and wrote last night and saved my writings, to make a pause for some necessary refreshments. And when I got in again, my unfinished writings had been smashed out by Mister administrator. I`m of the opinion that a writer should have the right to finish his work and then the critics could come and like or destroy his elaborate. Is it always the case, that you were stopped in between when formulating an article at Wikipedia??? I thought always to get something done, a disputatio with thesis and antithesis is far more usefull than a wild standby discussion.

I have some problems, because a lot of my reference books are not in English or old editions, so giving a page-number may not be helpful. On the other hand a chapter in Eugippius for example has mostly five to twenty lines, so the administrator must have find the words if he had taken himself some time. I had a lot more informations about the mundos. Plural, because there were at minimum three of them in the history books. Grandfather, father and son and they all had together an important role in the fights for Italy between the different powers (Scires, Goths, Gepids, Byzantines, Langobards). So the elder Mundo helped the side of Theoderic, but his son and grandson got payed by the other party and helped Constantinople to destroy the Gothic kingdom just like the Langobard and Gepids Narses had rented, too. The Mundos: Their men were called indeed scaramuzes in different bowdlerizes and they owned realy a fortress called Hertha at the Morawa estuary, as you can read also in serious books of reknown academics. Many people have listened to the french Opera-Scaramouche of the baroque aera and never asked from where does this figure come. Others know from the comedia dell`arte from Northern Italy, from Lombardia, the Bergamo region. The Scaramuzzo is used also in the puppet theatre there and he is an old folklore figure since the early middle-age and then before rented soldiers were called Scaramuzzo, a langobardic word (!!!), not a word from italian or vulgary latin.

And if you now have read from those not very nice fellows here and there as by Rodenberg or Wolfram acting in the Danube region in the peoples migration time, things began to add in your brain. So, I let it here as it may be. With best wishes, Volant Federlin. 16:58, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks - I am a new user. I would suggest that you read the complete offensive section before claiming that i am trying to censor something here.

The next sections below which would really mean that the offensive images are not encouraged until really needed.

However, this does not mean that Wikipedia should include material simply because it is offensive, nor does it mean that offensive content is exempted from regular inclusion guidelines. Material that could be considered vulgar, obscene or offensive should not be included unless it is treated in an encyclopedic manner. Offensive material should be used only if its omission would cause the article to be less informative, relevant, or accurate, and no equally suitable alternative is available.

Kiwi Gardner AfD

I think you took the right action in withdrawing the AfD nomination as you obviously couldn't have been aware of the NPR piece when you nominated. I was confused, however, by the mention of a possible later nomination "...if this guy's career does not pan out." I have often been directed to the not temporary guideline in AfD discussions. If you agree that the guy has established (at least minor) notability now, wouldn't his article be more deserving of treatment of such failed-promise players such as William Gates? Granted, Gates was the subject of an extremely notable documentary which makes his notability solidly-established separate from actual basketball accomplishments according to WP:NHOOPS. That said, If RS coverage says Gardner is notable now, his later career can then be covered whether he succeeds or fails, don't you agree? Hi Safiel,

Thanks you for feedback. I would like to have some clarifications on the same. A hospital is not a commercial entity. A company page is meant to have details about the company itself and cannot be viewed as a "unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person". This term is acceptable for any other company but i am not sure for a hospital. Wikipedia in general is not a marketing tool but it can be used to provide information about a particular company.Kindly help me to differentiate the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JeniferFernando (talkcontribs) 06:50, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Barclays edit-a-thon listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Barclays edit-a-thon. Since you had some involvement with the Barclays edit-a-thon redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Safiel (talk) 21:38, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kev Adams, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page NT1 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Aban ibn Said, Abid ibn Hunay, Abid ibn Hamal

If somebody fluent in arabic could translate the arabic version of the pages into english, then maybe there would be enough information to put on the english pages.عمر چودھری 08:30, 5 February 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Omar Choudhry (talkcontribs)

Your AFD closure of Baader-Meinhof phenomenon

Hi Safiel

I have just closed the discussion on the RFC you opened at [[2]], following your non-admin closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Baader-Meinhof phenomenon (3rd nomination).

AFAICS, the "keep" result of that discussion is not reflected in the substance of the discussion, where no RSs were identified. If they had been, the RFC would not have been stymied by their absence.

Nor do I see that the closure meets any of the WP:NACD grounds for non-admin closure. It was a very early WP:SNOW closure (only 16 hours after discussion opened), of a debate about a topic which had been overwhelmingly deleted at the previous AFD, and where no evidence had been offered to counter the complaint of lack of sources.

Please will you reopen the discussion? --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 22:52, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

I will go ahead and open a fourth AfD, given the extended period, over a month, of which the third AfD has been closed. I had closed that AfD, as it seemed to be an inappropriate vehicle for what the nominator wished to accomplish, which was more on the lines of a move/merge. Safiel (talk) 23:17, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Wikipedia:Sharan Estone

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Sharan Estone, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Safiel (talk) 05:42, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
