Current requests for increase in protection level

edit
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: His page is already protected but may need another protection. Allan Lichtman has contined to push for updates to his own page, including on YouTube interviews last night, in contravention of Wikipedia conflict of interest rules and the consensus of the page's editors regarding his predictive record. Caraturane (talk) 13:23, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

Forgot to add: this is a request for an extension of the protection or whatever you feel is best given the situation. Ever since protection went up, the talk page has been consistent in its view as to his predictive record, as has the related The Keys to the White House talk page. There has not been widespread disagreement about what the pages should say, but he has continued to agitate for the edits on the side for most of the last month (including on his YouTube channel) and there is concern the pages will get edit spammed with edits, against the talk page consensus, once again. Current requests for reduction in protection level

edit
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: This redirect is fully protected because of an argument about whether it should be its own article. This dispute was settled over nine years ago, so this page's current level of protection is unnecessary. Cyrobyte (talk) 19:45, 15 September 2024 (UTC)

@Spartaz: Protecting admin, back in the day. Favonian (talk) 20:00, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
The imposition of a redirect was endorsed at DRV and the advice was to allow a discussion before considering any changes to the level of protection. I guess my question is why do you want to remove the protection? Spartaz Humbug! 12:06, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

edit
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Biblical Foundations

Zionism's roots can be traced to the Hebrew Bible, where the concept of the Jewish people's connection to the Land of Israel is established through the covenant between God and Abraham. This covenant is described as eternal and unconditional:

"On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, 'To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates.'" (Genesis 15:18, NIV)

"I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come... The whole land of Canaan... I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God." (Genesis 17:7-8, NIV)

The covenant is reaffirmed with Isaac and Jacob, emphasizing the perpetual bond between the Jewish people and the land:

To Isaac: "Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands and will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham." (Genesis 26:3, NIV)

To Jacob: "I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac... I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying." (Genesis 28:13, NIV)

Continuous Presence and Yearning

Despite historical exiles and dispersions, there has been a continuous Jewish presence in the Land of Israel. Jewish communities maintained their connection to the land through religious practices, cultural traditions, and communal life. The longing for Zion is a central theme in Jewish liturgy and rituals:

The Psalms express this yearning: "By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion." (Psalm 137:1, NIV)

Daily prayers include petitions for the return to Jerusalem and the restoration of the Temple.

The Passover Seder concludes with the declaration, "Next year in Jerusalem!"

Rabbinic Literature and Medieval Thought

Rabbinic texts highlight the spiritual significance of the Land of Israel:

The Talmud states: "A person should always live in the Land of Israel, even in a city where the majority are idolaters, and not live outside the Land, even in a city where the majority are Israelites." (Ketubot 110b) Medieval Jewish philosophers and poets, such as Rabbi Judah Halevi, emphasized the importance of returning to Zion. In his work The Kuzari, Halevi advocates for the spiritual and national revival of the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland.

Account creator

edit

On Sept 21st I will be offering a training to beginner editors during the World Congress of Audiology in Paris We will introduce participants to Global Audiology. I anticipate I will need to allow the creation of some new accounts at the same time, so I ask for this user right from Sept 21 to 23rd. I already hold this permission with both Portuguese and testwiki. Thank you TMorata (talk) 14:42, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

Done until September 25th. Elli (talk | contribs) 14:07, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
Not done, revoked, and replaced with +eventcoordinator.
@Elli, this right shouldn't be granted to those running events. The eventcoordinator group is much better suited as it excludes some more sensitive rights like override-antispoof and tboverride-account, but also grants the ability to mark users as confirmed if necessary. stwalkerster (talk) 20:46, 13 September 2024 (UTC)
@Stwalkerster: my apologies; you're totally right. I don't know how I missed that here; I'd granted eventcoordinator before. Elli (talk | contribs) 20:53, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

edit

Been on Wikipedia for a few years now. Mainly created BLPs. Requesting for autopatrolled rights to reduce the backlog of new page patrollers. I declare that I've understood verifiability, notability and copyrights. SerChevalerie (talk) 21:21, 25 August 2024 (UTC)

On hold. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 23:46, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
Okay, the user's talk page history is back. This can now be evaluated normally. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 08:12, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
I don't see any problems with your creations but as the rate is relatively low (last 25 takes us back to 2018), there will be minimal benefit to NPP in autopatrolling them.   Not done for now, but thank you for thinking of the backlog. – Joe (talk) 09:19, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer

edit

I have reviewed the criteria for receiving this permission, and feel my contribution history demonstrates an adequate knowledge of creating, expanding, and patrolling articles in accordance to Wikipedia policies. Tvfunhouse (talk) 00:54, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello hello, I have been a Wikipedian for well over 4 months now, and I feel that I have learned a great many things about the site in terms of editing, content, policies, and conduct that I could have never imagined beforehand. If given this right, I humbly commit to using it to the utmost competent and fair / legitimate nature that I possibly can. Thank you Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:52, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

I have been contributing to pages for three years now, with prior experience in patrolling edit filter log. I would like to get reviewer rights so I can contribute to Wikipedia in more ways than I am able to, presently, and help with the backlog. Since my last request in July, I've been making a track record of communicating collegially with other editors, in my talk page and elsewhere. I hope you'll consider me. Thank you. — ‎‎‎hhypeboyh 💬✏️ 23:11, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

Rollback

edit

Hello! I recently applied for rollback and withdrew my request after realizing that I was below the required 200 main space edit count. Now, I have 206 main space edits (mostly anti-vandalism work) as well as a month of experience. I would like access to rollback in order to use tools like Huggle and Anti-Vandal to revert vandalism more quickly. During my very first efforts to revert vandalism, I did fail to warn some users as I did not have access to RedWarn or Twinkle and had not yet read the related policies. Shortly after that, I read WP:VANDAL. Now, I believe I have since built a strong track record of warning the user every time I revert their edits and reverting only when appropriate. Thanks! Hello hello, I have been a strongly active and, I believe, positive contributor to Wikipedia for over 4 months now, and have throughly enjoyed my time editing and undoing vandalism/unconstructive edits whenever I see them. I have not reverted a *ton* of vandalism, but I do believe that I have at least demonstrated by ability to discern and do so, as well as doing my best as of recently to notify users when I revert their edits. Moreover, I commit to using this right fairly, constructively, and honestly if given it. Thanks Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:30, 15 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done I reviewed your contributions and found little to no recent anti-vandalism work. If you're still interested in this tool then please spend at least a month actively patrolling RecentChanges (Twinkle & Ultraviolet can help with that) before reapplying. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits. Thanks, Fastily 02:38, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
Understood Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:42, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
Also I’m sure you noticed but I am also requesting the Pending Changes Reviewer permission, I think that would significantly help me in patrolling / doing anti vandalism as well. Since you are an admin, could you look into that request of mine? I would appreciate it Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:46, 15 September 2024 (UTC)

I have been cleaning up vandalism mostly with the help of Twinkle. I was granted temporary rollback rights in 2021 but then life got busy and I didn't seek an extension. I now have more time to dedicate to counter-vandalism efforts again. ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · contribs · email) 13:05, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
