Need your help
Hello! Buddy i am just trying to remove some contents from the Islamic page. Need your help — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shamie362 (talk • contribs) 20:47, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

Claus
Hey buddy, I see you reverted my correction of the proper spelling of "Claus", as in "Santa Claus". Prior to making a unilateral change like that, perhaps you should make sure that you're correct, which you (and the author of the original article) are not. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_claus for more information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 162.17.142.50 (talk) 13:48, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hello Buddy. Thanks for correcting it. Clause is also a correct spelling, but cannot be used in this case. The mistake was mine. Regards. Faizan 13:52, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
AWB
It's really easy to do, but try to avoid making changes with AWB that do not affect how the page looks, like you did here. Overall, though, thanks for all of the cleanup work! Andrew327 15:28, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah that's why I chose it. Thanks. But the standard/convention is the usage of "{{disambiguation}}" instead of "
{{disambig}}". Therefore it's justified, and is changed automatically in AWB. It will not cause any trouble, anyway thanks for the suggestion. Regards. Faizan 15:32, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- I actually agree with that, but there are lots of people who will give you trouble for those kinds of edits. Andrew327 15:36, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- I know, but people cannot give trouble on their own, lest there is stated in the Wikipedia policy that such edits should not be made. These edits don't cause any harm, rather improve, and no people should have problem by them. Faizan 15:39, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- I actually agree with that, but there are lots of people who will give you trouble for those kinds of edits. Andrew327 15:36, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- The AWB Rules of Use point 4 is crystal clear - "Do not make insignificant or inconsequential edits. An edit that has no noticeable effect on the rendered page is generally considered an insignificant edit." You should stop making these edits, as it's a clear breach of AWB. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 17:15, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- Sure, I will avoid inconsequential edits. Faizan 06:15, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
Changes in "Greco-Persian Wars"
The title itself is intellectually dishonest, as it suggest that those specific wars were the first or the most significant of all conflicts between the Persians and Greeks, while in reality, they were simply a reconquest effort by the Greeks. The whole article wreaks of Eurocentricism, but a change in the title is at least a start. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.249.25.143 (talk) 06:44, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
- Nah. If it's dishonest, get to the article's talk page. Instead of unilaterally making changes. Faizan 06:53, 17 July 2013 (UTC)
VE newsletter
Hey Faizan; hope you had a decent weekend :). We've got a pile of patches, some of which went out on Monday, some yesterday:
- If you insert wikitext such as links or section headers, you get a notice in the top right corner (over the save button). It doesn't go away until click, though once dismissed you don't get another one that edit. (49820)
- If your edit token expires, VE fetches a new one for you so you can save. (50424)
- If the page is empty of content but does have something non-content (like a category or an HTML comment), VE no longer crashes on load - (50289)
- sub tags are no longer removed ((49873)
- If you type at the end of links, they now extend
- Templates now only take a single click to insert
- Clear annotations clears links (50461)
- The link inspector stays open when you click to another item (50895)
- Typing after multi-byte characters no longer creats pawn icons (51140)
- Resizing thumbnails that have a default size set now works (50645)
- References made by tag:ref now display properly (bugzilla:50978)
- The VE is integrated with the spam blacklist (50826)
- Feedbacl link goes to the right language (bugzilla:47730)
There are a lot more improvements coming, but that's it for Monday and Tuesday. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 08:31, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Mukesh move
Hi Faizan, I have moved back Mukesh Chand to Mukesh (singer) per common name. He is known by his forename and since there are no other singers with the same name, I have moved it back to original (see the discussion on the talk page for this move). If you have to move it back then discuss on talk page and maybe start move request discussion. Thanks. Tolly4bolly 19:47, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
Wikimedia Highlights from June 2013
Lalu Prasad or Lalu Prasad "Yadav"
Hi, Faizan. This is what I hate about Wikipedia. There are a lot of people with too much time to waste in their lives and they do politics here. I do not understand why this User:BDD guy moved Lalu Prasad to Lalu Prasad Yadav, when it is clear that his real name is Lalu Prasad and "Yadav" is publicised for casteist politics during elections. I do not want to start a fight here. Is there any arbitration over this issue or autocrats can do whatever they want? Consider, for example, that User:Indopug changed every instance of Lalu Prasad's lastname to Yadav in the article. What exactly is the point? Should truth take the backseat while Wikipolitics flourishes? --70.76.85.36 (talk) 03:06, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- That must have been done per WP:COMMONNAME. The guy in question is better known as "Lalu Prasad Yadav", just as Mohandas Karamchand is better known as Mahatma Gandhi. Note that "Lalu" and "Prasad" are both first names – the use of caste name as equivalent of Western "surname" is very common in India and (to a lesser degree) in Pakistan.
- I also suggest the discussion is taken to the article's Talk page. kashmiri TALK 07:56, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
- It was discussed at the article's talk before. Anyway, I am taking it to WP:RM. Faizan 08:56, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Please consider changing your user page, or absenting yourself from Bangladesh pages
Hello, I doubt that it is your intention, so I wanted to mention that your user page can be quite upsetting to someone from Bangladesh. I hope that you will either consider changing it to something less militaristic, and/or withdraw yourself from editing any pages that have even a peripheral connection to Bangladesh. When you revert an edit to the Urdu page, to reimpose a statement that Urdu is spoken in Bangladesh, this can bring to mind the bitterly fought battle of the Bengali Language Movement, where many people lost their lives trying to oppose the imposition of Urdu as the official language of Bangladesh, i.e., an imposition that would have meant that the Bengali language could not be used for government business. When someone sees that you are imposing Urdu on Bangladesh without qualification (such as a statement that it is spoken by the Stranded Pakistanis), and then sees that you describe yourself as a fighter in wikipedia on behalf of Pakistan, is it any wonder that people try to revert your edits? I don't think that you see yourself as someone following in the path of Yahya Khan, so please consider this concession to the peace of mind of people who care about Bangladesh. Thank you. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 13:31, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- Sminthopsis84, I don't see anything wrong with his user-page, I as a supporter of the wonderful nation Pakistan, I think its a nice user-page, your message seems to be border-lining WP:NPA, and I suggest you stop edit warring on the article topic. Prabash.Akmeemana 14:45, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Prabash, you should give thought to the following: how do people feel who are not supporters of the "wonderful nation of Pakistan" (please read WP:NPOV in this regard)? You think they will like the Userpage? As regards Sminthopsis84' s query: the query was nicely formulated, and is far from a personal attack. And let Faizan decide what to do; for what it is worth:I think linking to the Pakistan Armed Forces is borderline. We are not in a fight here. Regards. Lectonar (talk) 14:52, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- Apologies then, I shouldn't responded seriously to that, rather having a picture of a Pakistani soldier stuns me as to how its disputed here. If thats the case, then I suggest replacing the image with the one that was there previously (the one with the mosque) instead of the soldier. Prabash.Akmeemana 14:59, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- Huh Why my userpage will irritate a Bangladeshi? I am a regular contributor in Bangladesh-related articles and even in 'general fixes' in the Bengali and Urdu Wikipedia. Why the Bangladeshis will be irritated by Pakistani soldier's image?? At least, I cannot get it. The image will remain the same. Faizan
- Urdu As far as the Urdu article is concerned, I did not impose anything. We are concerned with "the countries where Urdu is spoken" there, and Bangladesh is one of them, where lacs of Biharis speak it. We are not concerned with the Bengali Language Movement, or the "official language in Bangladesh". What has government business in Bangladesh to do with Urdu and my userpage? I don't move without qualification, or in this case reliable sources or references. The lacs of Stranded Pakistanis still speak their national language, viz, Urdu, that's why the mention of Bangladesh in the "countries where Urdu is spoken" was reinstated. Faizan
- My userpage Yes, I am a fighter, or I would like to say that I am a Mujahid. Jihad means "Struggle". I am a fighter for this Wikipedia, "fighting" seems to be an odd term, but I did not use it in my userpage. I did not say that I am fighting for or on behalf of Pakistan. I love Wikipedia, and the image caption elucidates it. It says:"The Pakistan Wikipedia Forces taking part in Operation Enduring Encyclopedia." I did give a link to the Counter-Vandalism unit. Again, I don't fight for Pakistan, I love the country, but here I am concerned with the Encyclopedia, and I fight againt the vandalizers. Faizan
- Yes, and it did link to the Pakistan Armed Forces....sorry, but in my eyes it is odd. Lectonar (talk) 16:13, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- Biased views about Yahya Khan: What wrong did he do? Can you get it to the point? He was the President of a soverign state, the "wonderful nation of Pakistan". You have no right to censure him without qualification here. He was the President of Pakistan. It that's it, then I am on his path. It is a great honour that I have been recognized as the disciple of the former President. In short, the query was pointless. If linking to the Pakistan Armed Forces is the apple of disgust, then it can be delinked. No one is on a fight here, but I work mainly by taking part in the Operation Enduring Encyclopedia against the vandals. Regards. Faizan
- @Prabash. There is no need for apologies. Pakistani soldier is not going to have an adverse effect on any community or country, including Bangladesh. Faizan 16:07, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- On Lectonar's comment, I have reconsidered and removed the Wikilink to the Pakistan Armed Forces. Anyway, now let it cool. Hope that the Pakistani soldier does not irritate Sminthopsis84 anymore. Faizan 16:31, 24 July 2013 (UTC)
- Apologies then, I shouldn't responded seriously to that, rather having a picture of a Pakistani soldier stuns me as to how its disputed here. Hi,
I wanted to inform you that I'm creating a list of foreign language speaking editors, so that others find it much more easier to locate editors who speak a given language. It should be particularly useful to help deal with ESL editors and to help translate sources in other languages.
I've added your name to the list, showing you as active and willing to help with translations. I hope you don't mind this addition. Please feel free to make any changes you like to this list, as well as use this list for any purposes required. :)

Sects of Islam
A bunch of your recent AWB edits have made articles less clear (and in some cases made links less useful and even some content incorrect) by converting links to various specific sects of Islam (Shi'ite, Sunni, etc.) to be just "Islam". The first two that landed on my watchlist are especially noticeable:
- The goal of the text is to discuss a situation where these two are different from each other, but you converted both to point to the same top-level article rather than to each one's own detailed article.
- The goal of the text is to discuss how this one sect relates to one specific other one, but you changed it to remove the sect-name entirely. The result is a sentence that does not make any sense at all.
Please check back with your edits that made these sorts of changes to fix these mistakes. DMacks (talk) 01:12, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Seconded. I strongly advise you to stop doing this. --Folantin (talk) 07:58, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- I did mistake there. That setting was meant for changing the terms of "Sunni Islam" and "Shia Islam" to "Islam" in the infobox, where the religion is often taken is terms of "denomination". I have spotted many IPs, such that 31.47.10.6 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), 76.173.132.206 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), and 109.115.31.235 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) which change the deliberately the religion's entry to "Sunni" or "Shia". I wanted to get this fixed. I will surely take more care. Faizan 08:01, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Even in infoboxes I see no need to be less precise than the sources allow. For comparison, we routinely give the exact denomination for Christians; for example, George W. Bush was Episcopal and now is an United Methodist (not just any kind of Methodist). Huon (talk) 13:09, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
We are currently running a study on the effects of adding additional information to SuggestBot's suggestions. Participation in the study is voluntary. Should you wish to not participate in the study, or have questions or concerns, you can find contact information on the SuggestBot study page.
IMPORTANT CHANGES: We have modified the selection of articles SuggestBot suggests and altered the design to incorporate more information about the articles, as described in this explanation.
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information.
Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions
We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
- Views/Day
- Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
- Quality
- Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
- Content
- Is more content needed?
- Headings
- Does this article have an appropriate section structure?

Your GA nomination of Persecution of Biharis in Bangladesh
Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Persecution of Biharis in Bangladesh you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by GA bot, on behalf of Darkness Shines -- Darkness Shines (talk) 14:48, 28 July 2013 (UTC)
- Darkness Shines and Faizan, Im not sure if you should pass and or nominate this article for GA, it fails one of the criteria for stability, though I am not the reviewer, I recommend to stop the review until the dispute is over, as I am seeing edit warring and an all out content dispute here, best to start the GA review when it is over. FYI : KH-35 & Myanmar
Hi,
According to m y sources and also sipri.com, Myanmar Navy do not have any Kh-35. They have ordered 30 C-802 recently to arm the Aung Zeya and Type-053H frigates. They have armed the corvettes with C-801 (according to sipri). I am not vandalizing. So stop complaining.

VisualEditor newsletter for 06 August 2013
It's been almost two weeks since the last newsletter, and a lot of improvements have been made during that time. The main things that people have noticed are significant improvements to speed for typing into long pages (T54012), scrolling (T54014) and deleting (T54013) on large pages. There have also been improvements to references, with the latest being support for list-defined references, which are <ref>s defined inside a <references> block (T53741). Users of Opera 12 and higher have had their web browser removed from the browser black-list, mostly as a result of work by a volunteer developer (T38000). Opera has not been fully white-listed yet, so these users will get an additional warning and request to report problems.
Significant changes were made to the user interface to de-emphasize VisualEditor. This has cut the use of VisualEditor by approximately one-third. You can read about these at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Updates/August 1, 2013, but they include:
- Re-ordering links to the editors to put "Edit source" first and VisualEditor second
- Renaming the link for VisualEditor to "Editbeta"
- Disabling the animation for section editing.
- Changing all labels for the classic wikitext editor to say "Edit source", regardless of namespace.
There have also been many smaller fixes, including these:
- Horizontal alignment of images working correctly on more pages (T53995)
- Categories with ':'s in their names (like Category:Wikipedia:Privacy) now work correctly (T53902)
- Magic JavaScript gadgets and tools like sortable tables will now work once the page is saved (T53565)
- Keyboard shortcut for "clear annotations" - now Control+\ or ⌘ Command+\ (T53507)
- Fixed corruption bugs that led to duplicate categories (T54238) and improper collapsing when multiple new references were added in a row (T54228).
- Improvements to display elements: The save dialog in Monobook is restored to normal size (T52058), pop-up notices on save now look the same in VisualEditor as in wikitext editor (T41632), and the popup about using wikitext has a link to the definition of wikitext that now opens in a new window (T54093)
Most of the Wikimedia Foundation staff is traveling this week and next, so no updates are expected until at least August 15th. If you're going to be in Hong Kong for Wikimania 2013, say hello to James Forrester, Philippe Beaudette, and the other members of the VisualEditor team.
As always, if you have questions or suggestions, or if you encounter problems, please let everyone know by posting problem reports at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback and ideas at Wikipedia talk:VisualEditor. Thank you! Whatamidoing (WMF) 23:30, 6 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Faizan. I guess it was only a matter of time before I would end up in your area of expertise . If you would like to add your views to the "Reverting/adding of US and Saudi Arabia" section on the article's Talk page, perhaps Capital00 will finally see some sense.
- Images
- Is the number of illustrative images about right?
- Links
- Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
- Sources
- For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?
