Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Akshay Nanavati, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Boot camp and Black Hawk Down (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Disclosure

Lihaas (talk) 09:19, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

I'm interested in being wholly transparent and am using WP's disclosure for the page above. I am not sure if I am missing anything (its also on the talk page) as this is the first time I've done this. I believe I've covered all the disclosures necessary, but if i'm missing something can you tell me, as I am not deceiving as a COI.Lihaas (talk) 09:21, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

The template above is really supposed to go on your userpage rather than here, but since you've disclosed on the article talkpage you're covered anyway. Thanks for being upfront about your COI, it's appreciated. Yunshui  11:25, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of 2018 New York attack

The article 2018 New York attack has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There are hundreds of car accidents in any country in the world everyday. How is this notable?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. "2018 New York attack"

I'm not trying to join any pile-on and I am assuming that you were acting in good faith. But can I ask why you initially created the article for the car accident in New York State with the title "2018 New York City attack" using the civilian attack infobox and the "type of attack" being described as "Limousine attack" with a link to Car bomb? Wikipedia must not be used to spread rumours and fake news - we have no WP:DEADLINE. AusLondonder (talk) 20:12, 7 October 2018 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Excuse my butting in... I can easily see where initial very early and confused reports might have caused one to suspect a terrorist attack. This sort of thing has become too common. But I do agree that NORUSH too often gets short shrift around here. -Ad Orientem (talk) 21:10, 7 October 2018 (UTC)

DYK for Akshay Nanavati

On 2 November 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Akshay Nanavati, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Akshay Nanavati is a US Marine Corps veteran who overcame drug abuse and alcoholism to publish a book endorsed by the Dalai Lama? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Akshay Nanavati. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Akshay Nanavati), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

Hello, Lihaas. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)

Query

@Yunshui: I have never EVER used more than one account here. I'm note sure what "off wiki" evidence you have seen since there was never a discussion for me to even counter? I have been totally transparent about my editing here and other paid accounts, which I immediately put on the talk page. You seem to be confusing me for someone else. Could I get a reason at least?

I got absoludely nothing to tell me off this which was working over the weekend.Lihaas (talk) 14:00, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
I was firstly not notified of this Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lihaas. I have been transparent clarifying the WP:COI on paid pags' talk pages. I have absolutely no idea about those accounts and where the correlation came from? Can someone show how im correlated as a sock of those other accounts? Its not like im hiding the fact that I did it since WP:Paid is not forbidden and it asks for transparency (which I even asked on my talk page and was told it was fine since I was transparent you replied to it). There are multiple editors who are paid to do so, hence WP has a policy. A drive-by claim with scant evidence is reason for a swift block without any notification? Incidentally all the paid pages that I just started about 2 motnh ago EXPLICITLY mention where my source came from (im not even sure if the others do so). Was this even looked into?
Where is the "strong probability"? Considering I've never interacted with a single paid editor and even wondeíred what they got to edit.
Weve had india pages in common. Over the last 10 years have you seen that the pages I got on the front page and FA have nothing to do with India? Yes ive updated india pages and those are certainly not paid since they are public figures. Even my pages that I transparently posted as paid have nothing to do with the india pages in common from those socks.
Compare the edit histories of these socks [1][2][3][4] (likely a socik with 2 edits)[5] and see mine [6]? At the very least I wasn't even given a chance to defend myself before the drive-by block.Lihaas (talk) 14:11, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

This block is based on information from your freelancer.com profile, which naturally I am not prepared to share a direct link to. Tracing the reviews you have received on that profile shows that it is responsible for a number of articles created/maintained by the other editors listed in the SPI, and the dates match up as well. Yunshui  14:27, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

@Yunshui: I have had 1 review and other articles that I immediately posted on the talk page for where I got it from (which is probably whether the original complainant found it. the EXAI article doesn't even have the other editors (that was my first, btw, when I queried it with you per the link above).
Looking at my contribs, you can find ive had a much bigger scope of editing over the last 10 years. Why would a sock be so transparent about possible COIs?
@Yunshui: The paid articles I have put on WP are: EXAI, Salty Dog Paddle, Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company, Storage King, Stor-Age and 2 in my back pages not yet published. None of which correlate to anything those editors have done, so I am how related I have no idea what prognostications were made or how. If you say reviewS then I can guarantee you have the wrong profile and some off correlation that is inexplicable b/c theres only one I can log into.
Incidentally, GSS has been here for 3 years (who appears to have a vendetta), ive been almost 10 years. I know full well what SP is (having been there before to report obvious cases).
As opposed to this, mine has been absolutely transparent. Even by you.Lihaas (talk) 14:32, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
Can someone please answer this? I've been mistakenly blocked because of another account based on the response above. Why would a sockpuppet be transparent in the first place? Something aht @Yunshui: himself said was fine.Lihaas (talk) 08:16, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
@Yunshui: I SAW Your email. Again you are misplacing me witho someone else because my account has ONE review. Youre not supposed to out people on WP as a public platform but I can show you what my account is.
I think youre mistaking me for Revival (who has a Pak flag on there), who I had worked with before. Again I'm transparent and even told him there are pages he wanted that will NOT stay. Again I can send you snippets from there. BTW- I was the "other".Lihaas (talk) 13:38, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
(uninvolved non-admin comment) Lihaas (talk · contribs) Please see WP:APPEAL for instructions on how to request an uninvolved admin review of your block. —KuyaBriBriTalk 17:32, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
@Lihaas: You said you had worked with Revival before, and the most recent review on their profile was added two weeks ago and it was for Storage King which was created by you at the same time so can you please explain? GSS (talk|c|em) 07:08, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
@Yunshui: Think of it logically, WHY would a puppet MASTER ask transparently just 2 months ago about how the process for COI paid editing works (and thanked by you for honesty)? I also had someone on the talk page thank me for the honesty, where I also recused myself from discussions there (again transparently)
@GSS: I had a message from him about a week ago or so that he has many WP editors to edit for him. Currently he's seeking to create a page about Christopher C. Lee (the photographer) who doesnt have enough mentions, as i told him. and also about a Dr. Sam Saleh from beverly hills who does cosmetology. Furthering my efforts at transparency, I can forgo this and see who eventually creates it, so the community will know too.
In regards to your query, he approached me because when I was new to the website and had only one direct editing, we had worked together. My first ever COI edit was with the query I asked Yunshui about (above). As such, in regards to "violation of WP:PAID and created by now blocked undisclosed paid editor," again I've been transparent the whole time. I can take a snipper of the discussion and send it. Although wsince WP is not supposed to "out" others, should I send it over email ot something?
Again i';m being as transparent as I can and am willing to do so if you have further questions.Lihaas (talk) 12:09, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the shout out, @GSS:. 555 USD direct to him. Son of a...Lihaas (talk) 12:58, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
@Yunshui:/@GSS: Any update? I also knew which profile you were talking about without anyone mntioning it here. I've answered questions and can answer more if there are still lingering doubts? Can we moste past the mistaken identity?
Again, to reiterate, on ALL of my pages I have accountable posted they were COI ones AND EVEN recused from discussion on one of them. How/Why would socks be transparent? Lihaas (talk) 14:59, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Admin, can I please get a response? Its been a few days and I've answered everything asked about the mistaken identity block for which I was not notified. Can I get a query/unblock, please?
This includes the time stamp of my first paid/COI edit with reply by the blocking admin as well.Lihaas (talk) 12:14, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

Request reason:

In regards to the above, it is apparently a case of mistaken identity . Unfortunately, I wasn't informed of the SPI case, nor of the block, so I could not present my dfense at the time. I've been transparent the whole time and can do so for any querires coming forth. I do not think I was treated unfairly as such, so there is no dispute. it was merely a mistaken identity issue. A simply apology (or not) will be fine so I can use my account again. :Further, it appears one of those who I was accused of mastering for has already confessed to being a puppet master himself. For which we've had no relation or interaction other than happenstance editing of india related articles ages ago. :Also from the section just above about the block, you can see I figured out the confusion and responded to who the person in question was without having been told here. Then I maintained my transparency about ou r interactions off-wiki. ::Also Revival is willing to clarify we are not the same people.Lihaas (talk) 12:15, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficiently convincing for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially, reword your request. Yamla (talk) 10:32, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Request reason:

@Yamla: If I am the sockpuppet of Revival (which was affirmed above as the point of complaint), then its odd that he has a dispute with me on freelancer that stemmed from this. I can send by email screenshots showing the differences between Revival and me as well as what he has asked me to do. The articles also specifically do have a talk page notice that it was a COI (after I queried it [7]). I even recused myself from discussion on one of the pages which questioned a section and the person who queried was happy that i was transparent. The original blocking admin responded to me in the affirmative for my FIRST paid edit in September and then there was no reply how it spiraled? Revival also has a few more expected projects to outsource here and probably more to come. I'm absolutely transparent about the paid projects I took. From him: Salty Dog Paddle, Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company, Storage King, Stor-Age and another french article one. He also wanted Francis Mvemba (which was the French and was also in my subpages) and Dr. Sam Saleh (see the edit history for who he hires and is not transparent). If you want to delete those, that's up to the admins. I have not seen the reason for the SPI block as i was never notified to provide counter evidence at that time. I have asked many times before, what do I need to prove otherwise? If someone could answer me I can provide the evidence to the contrary as well. I have the chats in freelancer to prove otherwise. Its stale because no one answered it and i asked MANY times. (Revival is now also aware of this page, btw) :WP wants transparency, i'm being transparent through the entire process as @Yunshui:'s original reply showed. Yet I'm not told what the issue is. I've discovered the person in question was Revival (see above) without being told of him either. I have the log to prove everything, If I could just be told what you want. To repeat again (sorry), can you please tell me what you want? I can email you specific screencaps. :I've created FA/DYK/ITN articles many tiems over 10 years too. A few articles that become very popular too including Karmen shortly before she won the Nobel ad n the Benghazi attacks, so I've not made unconstructive paid contributions. ::BTW im NOT editing other articles on the sly either. ::@GSS: [8] is ironic since everyone of the articles DID have a disclosure on the talk page, whilst Sam Saleh had none. i'm trying to be as transparent as possible following the rules in WP:COI, I just don't know what you neednow? ::Ive tried multiple emails to the original blocking admin but have had not response from Yunshui. What can I do if I don't know what you need as evidence? :::Odd User talk:سیاوش کیا created Sam Saleh's article on Christmas...he's absolutely under Revivals' pay. (see the tag of non-disclosure, while EVERY one of mine was tagged as such)Lihaas (talk) 16:56, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

No excuses

In distinguishing international "shit" from foreign shit, I only meant "stuff". Not trying to disparage, excuse or whatever. And yeah, plenty of people do use "international" to mean "foreign" or "extranational", so it's not exactly terrible. Just literally makes no sense. Anything "inter-" is technically between things, but perhaps increasingly only for pedantic twits like myself. Anyway, aside from that, thanks for all you've done at the article. Speedy deletion nomination of Exai

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Exai requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is an orphaned redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 12:19, 22 April 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict...please fill out my survey?

Hello :) I am writing my MA dissertation on Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict, and I noticed that you have contributed to those pages. My dissertation will look at the process of collaborative knowledge production on the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the effect it has on bias in the articles. This will involve understanding the profiles and motivations of editors, contention/controversy and dispute resolution in the talk pages, and bias in the final article.

For more information, you can check out my meta-wiki research page or my user page, where I will be posting my findings when I am done.

I would greatly appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey before 15 August 2021.

You have been invited to take part because you are one of the top-ten contributors (according to https://xtools.wmflabs.org/articleinfo) to two of the articles in my corpus: Shin Bet, and Yitzhak Shamir. If you believe you have been invited to fill out this survey in error, my apologies and feel free to ignore this.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. There are no foreseeable risks nor benefits to you associated with this project.

Thanks so much,

Sarah Sanbar
