The article Daryl Jones (baseball) has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
I think you posted on my talk page at the same time I posted my DYK nom, but thanks for the offer! Cheers! Canadian Paul —Preceding undated comment added 11:21, 8 March 2012.
Croatian Littoral DYK nomination
Hi! Thanks for fixing the Croatian Littoral DYK hook. However, I revised the hook once again, because it appeared to me that you missed the point of the hook itself - I added a comment to the nomination page explaining illogical nature of use of the term for two different and overlapping regions, making IMO the hook interesting. Could you please have another look at it to see if there's a better phrasing that could be used there?--Tomobe03 (talk) 21:57, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
WikiCup 2012 April newsletter
Round 2 of this year's WikiCup is over, and so we are down to our final 32, in what could be called our quarter-finals. The two highest scorers from each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers overall, have entered round 3, while 30 participants have been eliminated. Pool B's Grapple X (submissions) remains our top scorer with over 700 points; he continues to gain high numbers of points for his good articles on The X-Files, but also Millennium and other subjects. He has also gained points for a good topic, a featured list, multiple good article reviews and several did you knows. Pool E's Casliber (submissions) was second, thanks primarily to his biology articles, with Pool H's Muboshgu (submissions) coming in third, with an impressive 46 did you knows, mostly on the subject of baseball. Casliber and Cwmhiraeth both scored over 600 points. Pools E and H proved our most successful, with each seeing 5 members qualify for round 3, while Pools C and D were the least, with each seeing only 3 reach round 3. However, it was Pool G which saw the lowest scoring, with a little under 400 points combined; Pool H, the highest scoring group, saw over triple that score.
65 points was the lowest qualifying score for round 3; significantly higher than the 11 required to enter round 2, and also higher than the 41 required to reach round 3 last year. However, in 2010, 100 points were needed to secure a place in round 3. 16 will progress to round 4. In round 3, 150 points was the 16th highest score, though, statistically, people tend to up their game a little in later rounds. Last year, 76 points secured a place, while in 2010, a massive 250 points were needed. Guessing how many points will be required is not easy. We still have not seen any featured portals or topics this year, but, on the subject of less common content types, a small correction needs to be made to the previous newsletter: File:Wacht am Rhein map (Opaque).svg, our first featured picture, was the work of both Matthewedwards (submissions) and Grandiose (submissions), the latter of whom has also gone on to score with File:Map of the Battle of Guam, 1944.svg. Bonus points also continue to roll in; this round, Ealdgyth (submissions) earned triple points for her good articles on William the Conqueror and the Middle Ages, Casliber and Cwmhiraeth both earned triple points for their work on Western Jackdaw, now a good article, Dana Boomer (submissions) earned triple points for her work on lettuce and work by Stone (submissions) to ready antimony for good article status earned him triple points. Jarry1250 (submissions) managed to expand Vitus Bering far enough for a did you know, which was also worth triple points. All of these highly important topics featured on 50 or more Wikipedias at the start of the year.
An article on the WikiCup in the Wikimedia Blog, "Improving Wikipedia with friendly competition", was posted at the end of April. This may be of interest to those who are signed up to this newsletter, as well as serving as another way to draw attention to our project. Also, we would again like to thank Jarry1250 (submissions) and Stone (submissions), for continued help behind the scenes. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Thank you for reviewing Template:Did you know nominations/Guy Kabeya Muya, Entre la coupe et l'élection, and for spotting an error in the tagline. I have fixed it. Don't know how I did that. - No need to feel bad about putting four articles in a hook. I had two hooks that had ten articles each (one in late Feb, the other early March). It's an interesting hook and the articles are relevant, so it was my pleasure to review it (and claim the QPQ, of course :P). – Muboshgu (talk) 18:53, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Stubs on Baseball Mountain
There are no true Stubs near the top of the Baseball Mountain that you have catalogued.
I don't often visit WP talk: Baseball but today is one of the exceptions. Your project caught my eye there; so did the bright red "Stub" classifications for some biographies whose progress you are tracking. Just now I visited all (if i clerk correctly) seven Hall of Fame member and three Most Valuable Player biographies in that grade and I daresay every one is a true Start. Even Vern Law Frank McCormick with no References [and meagre content].
I report but don't criticize. You have better things to do than re-grade false Stubs. --P64 (talk) 00:18, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- That cataloging project was undertaken by a group of editors, myself included, but not only me. We took ratings from article talk pages. I do agree from having looked at some of them that there are articles that are at a different state than their rating. Those all should be fixed. I welcome you to re-rate those articles to the quality rating you feel they deserve. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:23, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Law could go either way, but I would definitely agree McCormick is a stub. I consider a stub anything well under DYK length though, which both are; others have different interpretations of that. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 00:30, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, McCormick is definitely a stub, and easy DYK candidate. I may do the expanding, but I have others I want to get to first. We do need to reconsider some article ratings. Josh Hamilton, for instance, isn't good enough to be a B. I'm gonna downrate it to C. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:31, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Cardinals-Royals rivalry
I see that the outcome of the second AfD is no consensus, and the article remains. I just wanted to say that you made some very valid points and it was a productive conversation both times (even though I recognize you didn't nominate it the second time). I would have accepted either outcome. Since the article hasn't been deleted I will do my best to improve it based upon the suggestions made. However, I also sincerely hope you will take a look at the other rivalry articles that were mentioned with the same critical eye. Many of them are in desperate need of improvement, if not perhaps their own AfD nomination (though that is perhaps the most drastic measure). TempDog123 (talk) 07:46, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- I can also appreciate a good discussion with valid differences of opinion that doesn't degenerate into anything mean spirited. I hope you can improve this article to the point where it's not on the chopping block. You have my word that I won't nominate it for deletion for at least a few months, if ever. I have nominated the Citrus Series for deletion, you can comment on that discussion, and I'll take a look at some of the others. Maybe another stab at the Brewers/Cubs article is merited. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:16, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

How can I get involved with the Baseball Portal itself... as in: add quotes or whatnot? Do I have to sign up somewhere? AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 22:57, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
- No need to sign up anywhere, but it may be a good idea to run by someone, such as myself, what you want to add. DYK for Danny Duffy
On 16 May 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Danny Duffy, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that 21-year-old Danny Duffy's abrupt retirement from the Kansas City Royals organization in 2010 reminded many of when Zack Greinke left the baseball club in 2006? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Danny Duffy. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Re-directs
Because it is 100% pointless. Do the research, see if they are notable and then create them. Don't just re-direct them just so you can have your name be the first one to appear in the history.--Yankees10 17:10, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
"There's no reason not to have a redirect, as people may be curious about these individuals as the draft approaches"
- But how is a re-direct to the 2012 MLB Draft going to help them with that? There is nothing about Buxton or any of these guys on the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft article, nor should there be.--Yankees10 17:18, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
And to be honest I don't think any of these are even close to being notable enough for their own articles yet anyway unless they go first overall, same goes for Mark Appel.--Yankees10 17:30, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- There will soon be info on Buxton on those pages, even if it's only their draft position. I'm not quite sure why you don't think they're notable, since coverage on draft prospects exists. For Buxton, I can find this, this, and this, just on the first page of the Google search results. High school athletes can be notable. Look at Jabari Parker. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:02, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- There. They're all listed at 2012_Major_League_Baseball_Draft#Prospects. I'll get to researching them when I can. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:14, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- WP:Crystal Ball. Come on man you aren't new here, how do you know there will be info on them on the article? Anything can happen between now and then. Again, the only reason I believe you made these re-directs was to have your name first in the history. So in case somebody else decided to create an article off the re-direct your named would still be first.--Yankees10 18:14, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- There is no crystal ball issue; they are mentioned in reliable sources as top prospects expected to go in the first round of the draft. I never said anything more than that. The reason I created the redirects was because these amateur athletes are likely to meet GNG, and as the draft approaches, it will be good to be able to direct people to relevant pages if they choose to search their names on Wikipedia. If I really cared that much about whether or not I created an article first, I'd have an admin fix whatever happened with Mason Williams; I created a redirect for that which was deleted for some unknown reason (I failed to watchlist it), and then you created the page shortly thereafter. Just because I keep track of these things on my user pages doesn't mean I'd compromise the encyclopedia just to run up my numbers. Please WP:AGF here. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:19, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

- Alright fair enough, I don't mean to assume bad faith, since I respect you as an editor and consider you one of the best baseball editors we have. I just suggest you avoid creating these types of re-directs in the future and just create the article if you find that the subject is notable.--Yankees10 18:31, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for that. I acknowledge in hindsight that I should have at a minimum listed them at the 2012 draft page, similar to how it's been done on the 2010 and 2011 draft pages, before creating those redirects. I won't recreate them now, because it's a fair point that too many redirects make a mess. I think Buxton is likely notable, and I'll only recreate it if my research confirms that, though I just got busy and may not get to it for a while. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:33, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

- Always. I actually just recreated it, with stub content. (I know, I should be working.) Based on the sources I see with the smallest amount of research, he's notable. The others may be as well; when I research them, I'll show you what I find. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:51, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

MLB Portal?
I have been thinking about the possibility of starting a portal specifically for Major League Baseball. I was wondering if you think this would be a good idea, and if so, would you be interested in participating? AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 19:46, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- I suggest taking that idea to WT:BASEBALL. I'm not sure we should, since I feel the baseball project is mostly MLB anyway, and an MLB portal might be redundant. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:34, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks for the advice. I don't think I'll go any further with it right now. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 00:43, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- No harm in asking. I'm going to go there soon to get help in adding more material to the portal. Maybe at the end of the month when I can show them how page views increased from April to May, due to our linking it on pages. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:48, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- I just checked the stats. The portal has already been viewed almost as much this month as it was all of last month. Maybe I will ask. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 02:01, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

I just created the Lucas Giolito article. When you have time, do you think you can check it out and see if theres anything else you can possibly add?--Yankees10 22:51, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- Will do. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:33, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
Hamels was indeed suspended 5 games for deliberately throwing at another player.[1] Whether missing a couple of pitching turns is significant for his 2012 season remains to be seen. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 23:21, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
- I know that it happened, I'm not questioning that. I don't think we should be mentioning every routine five game suspension, though. I think it's relevant to Harper, because he threw at Harper due to the hype of his prospect status. Throwing at players, though, is a part of the game. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:12, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- The fact of who he threw it at does seem to be the key factor in the publicity. If he had thrown at the likes of Nick Punto, nobody would much care. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 00:26, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Exactly, and if it was someone like Punto, he might've still gotten suspended. People are only adding it to Hamels' bio because it was Harper. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:46, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Humber GAN
Hey. Just letting you know that due to the issues with the reviewer of that article, I'm going to give it a second review. College alumni categories
Hi Muboshgu, just as a friendly heads up, whenever there is a college athlete who is categorized in that school's athletic category (baseball player, basketball player, football player, etc.) there is no reason to also include his parent alumni category. When I added Category:Gardner–Webb Runnin' Bulldogs baseball players to Blake Lalli, for example, that GW baseball player category is already a subcategory of the overall school alumni category, which I saw you added. Per WP:CAT, only the lowest applicable categories get included in articles. You're a good editor and I know you contribute to mostly baseball biographies, which is why I wanted to let you know about the categorization protocol. Thanks! Jrcla2 (talk) 16:39, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- That's my bad. I didn't know that cat existed, let alone that it was already on the page. Do we need cats where there is only one entrant? – Muboshgu (talk) 17:38, 20 May 2012 (UTC)
- Yes and here's basically why: While there may only be one player in that particular category at this time, we know for a fact that as time progresses it will gradually get filled with new and uprising players. Another reason is that some biographies of players who would be applicable for those particular categories (i.e., ones which currently only have one player in it) still haven't even been made for historically notable players. In the late 1800s and first half of the 1900s, it was extremely common for college athletes to play numerous sports for one school. Many, many football players, for instance, were also on their schools' baseball teams, and so both the football and baseball player categories would apply – it's just a matter of stumbling across an article of such a player and adding in the additional category. Also, the end-goal for Category:College baseball players in the United States is to have every possible college included so that any baseball player bio articles that get created in the future will have that category to use in order to see how that player should be categorized. While having only one player in such a category might seem silly for now, keep in mind that Wikipedia is a work in progress and that more people can be added to those categories later. Best title?
I want to create a list of foreign-born MLB all-stars (I think that is notable), and I wanted your advice on what would be a better title: List of Major League All-Stars not born in the United States or List of foreign-born Major League All-Stars. AutomaticStrikeout (talk) 01:37, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

Cory Booker
Please don't make large deletions before gaining consensus on his talk page. The part about the Conan O'brien feud is interesting and has been there for a long time - your delete was uncalled for. So was your delete about the events of yesterday, which is probably the most important and widely-discussed event in Booker's career thus far. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Michael2127 (talk • contribs) 19:45, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- Interesting? It is apropos of nothing. I stand by that deletion. Yesterday's incident is also undue, and that addition was of poor quality. It is difficult to state that an event that happened yesterday is the most important of his career. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:49, 21 May 2012 (UTC)

WikiCup 2012 May newsletter
We're halfway through round 3 (or the quarter finals, if you prefer) and things are running smoothly. We're seeing very high scoring; as of the time of writing, the top 16 all have over 90 points. This has already proved to be more competative than this time last year- in 2011, 76 points secured a place, while in 2010, a massive 250 was the lowest qualifying score. People have also upped their game slightly from last round, which is to be expected as we approach the end of the competition. Leading Pool A is Cwmhiraeth (submissions), whose points have mostly come from a large number of did you knows on marine biology. Pool B's leader, Grapple X (submissions), is for the first time not our highest scorer at the time of newsletter publication, but his good articles on The X-Files and Millenium keep him in second place overall. Miyagawa (submissions) leads Pool C, our quietest pool, with content in a variety of areas on a variety of topics. Pool D is led by Casliber (submissions), our current overall leader. Nearly half of Casliber's points come from his triple-scored Western Jackdaw, which is now a featured article.
This round has seen an unusually high number of featured lists, with nearly one in five remaining participants claiming one, and one user, Muboshgu (submissions), claiming two. Miyagawa's featured list, 1936 Summer Olympics medal table, was even awarded double points. By comparison, good article reviews seem to be playing a smaller part, and featured topics portals remain two content-types still unutilised in this competition. Other than that, there isn't much to say! Things are coming along smoothly. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Óscar Taveras
Uh, why would the re-direct from February matter? Theres no history there other than one edit. And its not even really an edit its a re-direct. Why would I have created the article at Oscar Taveras only to move it to Óscar Taveras when I could have easily just started it off new at Óscar Taveras? Doesn't make sense. If there was numerous edits at Oscar (without the Ó) then I would have done it the way you said, but otherwise I don't see the point.--Yankees10 15:50, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- A somewhat similar situation to this is the Archie Bradley (baseball) article. That article was a re-direct turned into a disambiguation page. Since there was a bunch of history on the baseball player in the Archie Bradley disambiguation it was necessary to fix it, but if it was just a re-direct I wouldn't have seen the problem in creating the Archie Bradley (baseball) page off fresh.--Yankees10 16:01, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- I don't understand the confusion. I created Oscar Taveras in February, and now you're having Óscar Taveras paste over it in May. Article history should show that the redirect to the minor league page was established in February. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:46, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- Why does the edit in February matter? I don't understand the point of adding it to the history. Like I said if there a bunch of edits in the history I would understand, but since all it was is just one edit that served as a re-direct, I don't think it matters.--Yankees10 18:11, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- It matters because that's when the content was created. It's not just that the redirect was created, but that's when I wrote the blurb on the minor league page to go with it. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:54, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- But the blurb wasn't in the original edit history and isn't permanently on the minor league page, so why does it matter? Look I didn't copy/paste the blurb you put onto Taveras' page, If I did that I would understand your point, but since I wrote my own info I don't see why it matters.--Yankees10 19:18, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- Because the content already existed, you duplicated existing work. Even if the content isn't exactly the same, it should have added to what I did, as opposed to this, which seemingly erases it. If you had created a blurb and then I had gone around it to create an article, I don't imagine you'd be thrilled with it. The blurb was created in February and its article history should reflect this. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:55, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- Actually if this was reversed I woudln't care much. I don't see anything here that you should be pissed about.--Yankees10 21:09, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- What it comes down to is something that you once accused me of: that it looks like you're trying to steal credit for creating the article. I created the blurb and redirect in February, and you came around to it in late May. I don't like to look at it this way, but I "beat" you to it by three months plus, and it looks like you're trying to vulture it. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:19, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not trying to steal credit for creating the article. I did create the article. Since you care about this so much, you should have re-directed it with the Ó or just created the article and avoided the re-direct in the first place.--Yankees10 20:57, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
- But you didn't create the article, I created it and then you duplicated the work. You should have moved the "O" to "Ó", rather than do what has already been done. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:52, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- It would have made absolutely no sense to do it that way.--Yankees10 16:59, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

The blurb was created in February and its article history should reflect this. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:55, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- It matters because that's when the content was created. It's not just that the redirect was created, but that's when I wrote the blurb on the minor league page to go with it. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:54, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- Why does the edit in February matter? I don't understand the point of adding it to the history. Like I said if there a bunch of edits in the history I would understand, but since all it was is just one edit that served as a re-direct, I don't think it matters.--Yankees10 18:11, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
- I don't understand the confusion. I created Oscar Taveras in February, and now you're having Óscar Taveras paste over it in May. Article history should show that the redirect to the minor league page was established in February. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:46, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

DYK for The Bronx Zoo (book)
On 6 June 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article The Bronx Zoo (book), which you created or substantially expanded. Good Morning!
I took Andy Pettitte off the roster, but you may want to comb through it and see if it's up to date. It really hadn't been edited since May 6, and my AAA knowledge isn't what it usually is this year, yet. I was too involved in watching the Rangers almost get to the Cup Finals, so baseball had taken a back seat for a bit haha. Kjscotte34 (talk) 11:08, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
RC reverts - Say what??
OK, rather than engage in dueling reverts, let me explain what my thinking was; u can do the same, &, hopefully we can reach some kind of consensus; I did an awful lot of work on RC over the first 8 or 9 years of this century, & it really grieves me 2C so many easily correctible inaccuracies on the record.
1st of all, As 4 the Baseball Career section, there r no real errors per se, but it is extremely sketchy. If anything, I probably should've done MORE (e.g. give at least general time frames 4 both contracts, 2 say nothing of at least mentioning the joint Dodgers/Crabbers clinic/tryout where both Campanis & Zorilla 1st saw RC in the summer of '52). As 4 what I DID do, it just seems kind of silly NOT 2 mention the extensively documented Joe Black scouting angle if you're gonna bring him up in the first place. And then, out of the blue, 2 just give 1954 for Sukeforth seems needlessly vague & somewhat misleading; leading one who doesn't know better 2 at least wonder if RC hadn't been wasting away in Montreal 4 a couple of years B4 Sukeforth finally showed up (whereas, in fact, it was more like 2 months).
As 4 the 2 sections, Pittsburgh Pirates & The 1960s, here I was simply correcting obvious & egregious errors (in most cases, assertions that aren't even supported by their own sources).
1) "During the middle of the season, Clemente was involved in a car accident" [emphasis added]
Am I missing something? Even the source that supposedly supports this utterly inaccurate statement ("During the winter, a drunken driver had rammed into his car at sixty miles per hour." [emphasis added]) in fact contradicts its chronology entirely.
2) "With the American League ahead 4–3 in the tenth inning, Clemente hit a double that gave the National League a decisive 5–4 win." [emphasis added]
While the AL undeniably had a 4-3 lead going into the inning, & RC certainly did get the game-winning hit, it was FOUR-FOUR by the time he got 2 the plate, & the hit he got was a single. Again, check your own source: "Then he brought his bat around and smashed a line drive to right field. As Roberto raced for first, Willie Mays rounded third and headed for home. The National League had won by a score of 5-4!" Even if this had been a line drive off the top of the CF fence (which this obviously was NOT; tho, as I pointed out, pre-your revert, RC did hit a couple of blasts of that magnitude in this game), it still would've just counted as a single. In fact, ironically, the only double in that inning was the one hit by Mays to make it 4-4 B4 RC ever got 2 the plate.
3) "This condition limited his role with the Pirates in the first half of the 1965 season, during which he batted an average of .257. He was inactive for several games during this stage of the campaign before being fully active; when he returned to the starting lineup, he hit in thirty-three out of thirty-four games and his average improved to .340."
OK, I've gotta take this one sentence at a time. At the halfway point of the '65 season (i.e. after 81 games), which btw, came exactly THREE games B4 the end of that much-ballyhooed 34-game stretch, Clemente was batting not .257, but .334. As Casey Stengel liked 2 say, u can look it up (perhaps in the batting log u deleted). The last time during the '65 season that RC finished a game at .257 was after game #31 (of which, btw, the supposedly 'limited' RC missed exactly 3) - i.e. less than a FIFTH of the way thru the season. Moreover, as I already pointed out, three games later, RC actually would hit bottom, with a .235 average. It was from THAT point that the dramatic & decisive 16-game stretch began, delivering Clemente from an unheard-of .235 2 a much more familiar neighborhood, 91 points north of there, & just 3 points below the .329 mark at which he'd finish the season - & lead the league. (In fact, from that point forward, he'd never dip lower than .319.) Obviously, THAT was the turning point of RC's season, those 91 points in 16 games being considerably more crucial than the 34-game stretch which brought him to .340, NOT - as is clearly implied - from .257, but from an already quite presentable .305.
Regarding the second sentence, granted that the phrase "during this stage of the campaign" becomes problematic now that the credibility of the preceding sentence (to whose chronology "this stage" refers) has been utterly shredded, the fact remains that there was indeed a one-week stretch (after, btw, RC had played the entire month of April), during which, if not exactly "inactive," RC did have a "limited role," i.e. one week (5/2 thru 5/8) during which he either sat or pinch-hit late, twice staying in 2 play the field. This, however, in NO WAY corresponds with the 34-game streak, his 5/9 return 2 action preceding its start by almost a month. In other words, since the week of 'inactivity' ends well B4 either the 34- OR 16-game streaks begin, there's really no reason 4 its continued inclusion in this article. It doesn't really signify nor correspond 2 anything, neither struggle nor streak.
Anyway, enough from me; let's hear from u --DavidESpeed 23:49, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
- What I saw in your edits were drastic, unsourced changes being made to an article that had reached Good Article status, which would indicate that it's been vetted. Now, it sure is possible that there are inaccuracies, as you're pointing out, which indeed should be corrected. However, you didn't cite sources for all of them (or any of them? I can't remember right now). I also saw POV wording that overall weakened the article, and made it susceptible for being delisted. I'll look again at the article and the changes you're making later. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:23, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Jeter FA
Excellent progress on the article. I just realized that the article does not reference Ian O'Connor's biography, The Captain: The Journey of Derek Jeter. I'd be less concerned if other bios were used in the article, but there aren't. Also, it's contemporary in that it was published in 2011. I haven't read the book, so curious what your thoughts are.—Bagumba (talk) 17:24, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you. Your comments are all very sound and I intend to get through all of them this month. I haven't read the O'Connor book either, but you do make a good point that it's contemporary, and provides the same basic "Jeter is a future HOFer"-type of storyline that would fit, and probably adds some on his persona. I'll try to find any online excerpts I can use, and maybe I'll buy the book. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:39, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- I think the book goes into Arod relationship and last contract, so it can be incorporated there at least. I dont think we can call this article comprehensive unless an editor or reviewer has read the book and can vouch for its completeness. For now, I'm just doing a spot check and looking at the article's references. I won't outright oppose the FA as long as progress is being made, but I wont vote for support until it is done either. Do you have a preference for mentioning this in the review? At the very least, we should add to "Further reading" section in the interim.—Bagumba (talk) 19:34, 13 June 2012 (UTC)

Phil Nevin
I saw your DYK on Nevin, but based on the hook ended up on the Jeter article and then the FA and got sidetracked from Nevin's GA review. Maybe I'll get to it later if someone doesnt get to it first.—Bagumba (talk) 19:40, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- No rush whatsoever. I've got the Jeter FAC open, a Cy Seymour GAN, and a lot of actual work to do at, ya know, work. I was thinking of pulling one or two of my noms and renominating just to spread them out a bit in the queue. – Muboshgu (talk) 13:58, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

I'm sure you had good feeling moving the arrest and now conviction from the opening paragraph but it'd been that way (ex the conviction) for a long time and I in effect reverted your move while cleaning up and augmenting today's conviction additions.
I sure feel conviction on four felony counts bears noting in the opening paragraph of the bio. If you'd care to discuss it more, I'd be glad to.

- I would not mind waiting until the GAN backlog elimination drive is over. I am trying to do 25 reviews and may end up having 20 GACs nominations to respond to during the drive. I think we are allowed a co-nomination in addition to a solo nomination, but maybe we should ask for clarifiication. Winning percentage
Winning percentage is not really a percentage but a decimal fraction to the thousandth place although the term is commonly used, and we understand its meaning. It is commonly reported in baseball pitchers' statistics. It belongs where I placed it. In fact baseball recognizes the pitchers with the all-time highest winning percentages. It belongs with the won-lost record. Please do not revert.Iss246 (talk) 16:47, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
- You may be right that it belongs, but I am not sure about that. As I said on Yankees10's talk page, you need to take that to WT:BASEBALL and not unilaterally add it to pages without approval. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:48, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

- I would consider it major, since it's the top tournament for the under 18 age group. I've gone back and forth on some tournaments like the World Junior Baseball Championship, World Port Tournament, and others. Perhaps we should bring the question to the group. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:14, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Travis Jackson at GA
I've done the review which you nominated and have done pretty much all the leg work on the article. My general feeling was that I'd like to cut down on the number of very short sentences in places and have noted where I think we can improve the flow of the prose. I also had a query about the image used plus a question about him being 'overlooked' for the Hall of Fame. It might look a long list but it's only small stuff really which can easily be addressed to nudge it into GA so I'll put it on hold for the time being. It's all on the review page anyway. Minor league player re-directs
I just have a request that you please avoid or at least limit the amount of players that you re-direct to the minor league pages. I'm going to be honest here its kind of annoying when I look up a player to create and it's redirected. But thats only part of the reason for the request. Personally I think these re-directs create unnecessary clutter on the minor league pages. If we are gonna have them, I think they should be the ones that were created, nominated for deletion, and it was determined that it should be re-directed (Archie Bradley for example). Not just re-directs for the sake of being re-directs (Jose Fernandez (pitcher)). Overall though I don't think the pages should have any player bios on them and just have the rosters. There is such a random assortment of players on there, scrubs, top prospects, etc it just makes no sense. I'm gonna bring this up to WP:Baseball to see what they think as soon as the winning percentage discussion cools off.--Yankees10 20:36, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I see what the problem is. The idea with the minor league baseball page is to create blurbs for players who may not yet be notable enough for their own pages. When I create a redirect and a section, I always put in enough information to suggest why this person is worth discussing, such as today's All-Star Futures Game roster announcement. I agree that we shouldn't have too many players mentioned, but I don't think it's excessive at this point. – Muboshgu (talk) 23:32, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
- Well my main point is probably that I don't think they should be there anymore, in that case I will bring it to WP:Baseball. I think either a player has an article or not and there should be no re-directs. Regarding your second point though, if all of the players that appear in an All-Star Futures Game, is a top prospect, etc, I think it will get to the point where it is excessive. I recently saw you added Ryan Berry to the Orioles page, I mean lets be honest, I don't see anything notable enough with that guy to have a blurb. Having him in my opinion was a little excessive.--Yankees10 00:29, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, I can see that Ryan Berry is borderline at best. There absolutely should be redirects, because those are navigation aids. If you want to look for, say, "Tyler Austin", you'd type in that name. The redirect takes you where you need to go. Otherwise, the lay wikipedia user would never find it. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:35, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

If you do a search for Florida Governor 2014 then you will see that I have produced many videos for becoming Governor. I did not feel my edits were biased in anyway but instead just stated that an independent was running.
If you would please let me know what edit you'd accept to state that in the wiki and not revert the change.
Thank you

More GAs
I've picked up a couple more articles you nominated for GA - Jeffrey Hammonds and Miller Huggins. I'll look at them over the next couple of days - as before any prose changes are suggestions and I am open to other revision options and discussion. If I keep doing these I might eventually learn something about baseball ;) Bladeboy1889 (talk) 09:27, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- I'm happy to teach you. As I said at the review pages, there's no time pressure from me, as I have a number of open reviews I'm responding to now. But I will respond to your comments. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:33, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- Ha - maybe in return I'll school you in the beauty of football. No worries - having picked up those reviews I've got a few other things to do at the moment so will put them on hold (figuratively rather than than noting them as such on the page) and take my time over them. I'll look at one by the end of the week maybe?Bladeboy1889 (talk) 14:56, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Jim Leyritz
Hello,
I see that you are very active in editing Jim Leyritz's Wiki page. I am representing Jim, from Attache, and would like to appropriately edit the information that seems to cast a negative light on Jim's reputation. Seeing as Wikipedia is deeply rooted in presenting information from a neutral perspective, I feel like it's important to respect and abide by their policies. In doing so, it seems beneficial perhaps if we were to work together and collaborate, therefore creating the most neutral of all perspectives, that serves as informative for Wikipedia users.
Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions, comments or concerns at s.dickerson@abandonconvention.com.

- Yeah, but you're admitting that you're whitewashing information due to your conflict of interest. That's not gonna stand here. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:59, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
I most certainly am not. In fact, I am doing the complete opposite. It is clear that Jim has been portrayed in a poor light which is unfair per Wikipedia's code of conduct. Furthermore, I am asking for your compliance in redrafting the information so that it truly exemplifies a neutral point of view, as Wikipedia requires. If this has not clarified things, please specify where your confusion and/or apprehension lies. - I'm sensitive to the issue of how we portray Leyritz. It would be better to discuss this on the article's talk page as opposed to my personal talk page, so that we can form a consensus with other editors on what should be done. Please point out what issues you have with the page there and we'll see what we can do to fix them. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:07, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
