Looking for suggestions (Bio of Marco Averà, CEO of Snam)
Hi TonyTheTiger, I have recently submitted a draft containing the biography of Marco Alverà, CEO of Snam, the main natural gas infrastructure company in Italy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Marco_Alver%C3%A0). I read several biographies curated by you and I thought this content might be of interest. I was wondering if you could have a look and tell me what you think. Thank you in advance! - Anna Sai, I am not involved in the WP:AFC process, but the article seems to be in good shape.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 18:03, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Tony, thank you for the time you spent visiting the draft. Can you pls suggest any member involved in the WP:AFC process for a final check? Thank you!

- Following a discussion about mass-application of ECP and how the need for logging and other details of an evolving consensus may have been missed by some administrators, a rough guide to extended confirmed protection has been written. This information page describes how the extended-confirmed aspects of the protection policy are currently being applied by administrators.

DYK for Optima Signature
On 12 October 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Optima Signature, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that residents of the top 15 floors of the Optima Signature (pictured) have access to a private club in the building? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Optima Signature. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Optima Signature), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Coordinates for Optima Signature
Antonio, your coords were off a considerable distance for the Optima Signature. Where did you get them? I fixed them. Abductive (reasoning) 03:38, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- Abductive, When you enter "https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Optima+Signature" in the address bar it fills itself in with "https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Optima+Signature/@49.891235,-97.15369,4z/data=!3m1!4b1" and populates the search bar with Optima Signature. When you then search you end up with "https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Optima+Signature/@41.8911488,-87.6240263,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x880e2cabcec71299:0xa48667fb00444b1e!8m2!3d41.8911448!4d-87.6218376" Apparently the first coordinates are better than the second set that I used (not noticing the first).--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:30, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- Just noticing that the first set is even further off. I don't know how to get better coords from Google maps.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 04:34, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- I use Wikimapia. People have outlined nearly everything interesting in the world on there. It also provides the exact coords of the center + as you scroll around. Abductive (reasoning) 05:34, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- Abductive, That is a great resource, but for this location it is not up to date. The picture from that neighborhood seems to be just after this building broke ground.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 12:20, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

Edgar Wallace
Hello. Thanks for adding the Edgar Wallace template to articles. My only question is regarding the addition to What Have You Done to Solange?. According to the articles prose, the film was promoted as being based on an Edgar Wallace novel in Germany, but it does not actually really base anything off of it, outside some girls wearing a green pin from the novel of the same name (The Green Pin). Should this template still be used if its not really an adaptation? Not sure what our standards are on this. Andrzejbanas (talk) 17:28, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Art Institute, works and possible Wikipedian in residence
Hello Tony. Was in Chicago and at the Art Institute recently on a trip, and met with a representative to suggest that someone work on putting up pages about works in their collection. She was going to talk to the administration and seemed to be generally interested in improving their coverage here. I left your user name as related to the Chicago project. Their overall Wikipedia presence is pretty weak (see Category:Paintings of the Art Institute of Chicago) with only 35 category entries (I added a link to the 35th earlier, and there are probably others not categorized, I'll hunt around the site to see if I can find more). But a majority of their important works do not have pages, including the Chagall stained glass window (!), many of their impressionists, Pollacks, and others. So maybe an Art Institute of Chicago Wikipedian in residence could be arranged. Just an idea right now, but wanted to pass the thought on to you. This is a grand museum in the tradition of the Paris treasures, yet, to the detriment of them, the art world, and this encyclopedia, is underrepresented here. On a side note, they only seem to have one Pre-Raphaelite painting (one of the three Beata Beatrix's, I spent at least 20 minutes "with" it), which is a hole in their own collection. Randy Kryn (talk) 12:27, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Soup Cans
Hey Tony,
I'm a little shy about making a dramatic addition to the very old, stable, much-viewed featured article Campbell's Soup Cans, but the description of the works there as silkscreens isn't supported by the Warhol Catalogue Raisonne and info put on MoMA's web site since the bulk of the article was created. Do you mind having a look at my draft changes before I put them in? Thanks. User:KR26740/sandbox/Soupcans
Thanks, I've learned a lot from looking at your articles. KR26740 (talk) 18:34, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- KR26740, I think you should notify WP:WPVA of your proposed changes. Suddenly claiming these were painted by hand is quite a change in history. So the 2017 WikiCup has come to an end. Congratulations to the winner, to the other finalists and to all those who took part. 177 contestants signed up, more than usual, but not all of them submitted entries in the first round. I have communicated with the photographer of the IL House Democratic Staff who is responsible for distribution of photographs of Representative Flowers. He responded with the following: "As far as your worries on the copyright issue, since the state has the copyrights to the photos, we can dictate what we do with the pictures. So you should be fine." The photograph was taken by a Legislative Staff photographer and provided for use on the Illinois General Assembly website that displays short State Representative biographies. New Page Reviewing
Hello, TonyTheTiger.
As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors, |
Administrators' newsletter – December 2017
News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2017).
- Following a request for comment, a new section has been added to the username policy which disallows usernames containing emoji, emoticons or otherwise "decorative" usernames, and usernames that use any non-language symbols. Administrators should discuss issues related to these types of usernames before blocking.
- Wikimedians are now invited to vote on the proposals in the 2017 Community Wishlist Survey on Meta Wiki until 10 December 2017. In particular, there is a section of the survey regarding new tools for administrators and for anti-harassment.
- A new function is available to edit filter managers which can be used to store matches from regular expressions.
- Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is open until Sunday 23:59, 10 December 2017 (UTC). There are 12 candidates running for 8 vacant seats.
- Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.
- The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative is conducting a survey for English Wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works (i.e. which problems it deals with well and which problems it struggles with). Hello, TonyTheTiger. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Regarding the numbers, I left an explanation in the sophomore section of the review. However, the "Comparable quantities" part might be open to interpretation, so you can do what you think is best. Thanks. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 03:08, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for December 7
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tyus Jones, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Jeff Teague (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Buffalo, New York
I just wanted to let you know that over the next two months, I'll be putting a lot of work into the Buffalo article to try to get it to GA. I've checked out around 6 books that I'll look at over break.
Do you have any suggestions? If I opened a peer review, would you be willing to add thoughts there?
Thanks.

- Buffaboy, I don't know what is going on in Buffalo right now and I have not done much WP:PR reviewing since I became a fulltime Uber driver. Also, I have never taken on something as wide ranging as an article for a whole city before. I usually work on smaller neighborhoods and streets.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 23:21, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

DYK for 930 Poydras
On 23 December 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 930 Poydras, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Poydras Street hosts many of New Orleans' tallest and historic buildings, including 930 Poydras, the first residential high-rise constructed in the city after Hurricane Katrina? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/930 Poydras. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, 930 Poydras), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I recently sent you an invitation to join NPP, but you also might be the right candidate for another related project, AfC, which is also extremely backlogged. |
