Grammar nazi pic

Sometimes I wish there was some kind of an irony markup template. Why on Earth would you take it so seriously? I can only imagine how offensive you'll find this whole category: commons cat. Primaler (talk) 06:50, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

Of course, a collection of images about Nazis is not offensive. But, comparing an editor to a Nazi with an image of a Nazi is offensive. Nine out of ten non-Nazis would agree. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:01, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

Anna, thanks for the bunny

How lovely to hear from you Anna. And the bunny is a lovely creature that is welcome at all times to come and visit me on my user talk page. That soft fuzzy bunny always makes me feel warm and relaxed. I believe I told you that in the 1980s I lived with a little bunny for a couple of years; it belonged to one of my housemates back then. It used to come and visit me sometimes in the very early mornings as it was free to come and go as it wanted to. He was a white pygmy lop bunny and his (ironic) name was Godzilla. Actually I think I saved his life because when I moved in he was pining for his big bunny friend who had recently died. Godzilla had lost most of his fur and was lethargic. I clean his cage very thoroughly and brushed him every day with a soft children's brush. He gradually regrew his fur and perked up again. He liked parties and was carried around on a small red velvet cushion so that people could pet him. A great little beast. Invertzoo (talk) 14:52, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

Not only cute,but friendly too.--Demiurge1000 (talk) 22:06, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
btw, he was only into the parties because he was secretly taking some of the alcohol while you weren't looking.
Is there a sub-text here about white things considered to be high value, that were carried around parties on red cushions? With a mention of perking up? I assume there is no such subtext, but the thought amused me briefly. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 22:09, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
Ah Demi, "Not only cute, but friendly too.", you've seen that. :) I must say, the missing spaces problem certainly has improved at Wikipedia.
I am not getting the sub-text, but am racking my brains. White, high value, carried on a red cusion. Hmmmm. Cinderella's glass slipper? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:44, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Susan. I'm very pleased that you liked the bunny. It is definitely the nicest bunny at commons because I've checked. You saved a bunny, and that is the greatest thing a person can do, almost. I think animals feel extra sad when their friends die. And I bet he felt very cool being on the red pillow and getting all that attention. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:44, 2 December 2014 (UTC)
I thought of nominating that bunny for FP but unfortunately the picture resolution is quite low. Jim Carter (from public cyber) 04:58, 3 December 2014 (UTC)
Yes, quite low res, but nice to look at. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:23, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Rude

Anna, The deletion of my article was completely uncalled for. Rather than you asking me for my sources you just presume that their are no sources on this museum. I am a student and I need to create a wikipedia page for my class. I see nothing wrong with the page I created and I am offended that you don't think black history museums are noteworthy enough to put on wikipedia. Instead of offering help, your explanation was very rude! I am simply trying to get a grade in my class, not win a Pulitzer Prize. How would you feel if someone just deleted your page which I just looked at. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasontoms13 (talkcontribs) 06:20, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Jasontoms. Please do not be upset. The article contained little more than ...The setting of this treasured historical landmark is urban, diverse and vibrant. The museum is located at 3650 Richmond Street Philadelphia, PA 19134. Please visit the webpage of this influential memory institution to learn more beyond this page... That is very promotional. Instead of just leaving a message on your talk page saying that I deleted it as promotional, I took the time to look for sources and then left a hand-written message (not a form letter) on your page. I complimented the museum and said that I tried to find sources, and said that if you did, it could become an article. I was trying to help, not be rude. Please understand that if administrators encounter a promotional userpage, it is appropriate for them to delete it.
Please be welcome here. Try to find good sources after reading the links I provided at your user talk page (Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and WP:42). Please write neutrally. You wrote it more like a promotional brochure. Try to write it like, say, an Encyclopedia Britannica article. Best wishes. Please don't be angry. I was just trying to do the right thing. Hello Siddiquekhan1978. Yes, I have been to India (It is my favourite country), but have never heard of the subject. I am very sorry. I can undelete the article! All is not lost.
A few facts to consider:
  • On 25 November 2014, I posted Talk:Wrestling#The "Great" Sohrab Khan asking for others to see if this could be a good article.
  • At 12:35, 30 November 2014, I tagged the userpage draft with templates saying that it was a draft you were working on, and that it was a userpage, and not yet an article.
  • At 17:32, 30 November 2014, you removed those tags.
  • At 20:14, 30 November 2014, I moved it to draft space, the preferred location for working on a draft.
  • At 20:28, 30 November 2014, I decided that it must be a hoax and deleted it. I did this because:
  • Another administrator searched for sources and couldn't find any.
  • I looked for sources and couldn't find any.
  • Maybe I didn't know what to search. There is from your draft:
  • Sohrab Pahelwan
  • The Great Sohrab Khan
  • Ustad Siddiq Khan
  • Ustad Sohrab Khan
  • Ustad Sohrab Khan Pahelwan
I believe you when you say that it was not a hoax. My apologies. I made the best decision with the available information at the time. Given the same situation again, I would delete it again.
But, now you say the person is real. This is good. Let's see if it can become an article. First, it must be written with no copy pasting from Facebook. I would like to know if he really was on a diet of ten liters of milk, a pound and a half of crushed almond paste made into a tonic drink along with fruit juice and other ingredients. That would be quite a coincidence. Can you explain why that text was copied from that article? And most important of all is sources. Can you find good sources to show the subject is notable?
Best wishes. I am here to help. Thank you for not moving List of Chinese dishes in anger again. I appreciate that. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:36, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

Yeah. Bit harsh; and just a handful of minutes before the other editor replied supportively. But it's alright. You're not normally like that, in fact, almost never. Wifione Message 16:18, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

Happy Lucia!

Thank you, W.carter!! I love the picture of the people in white with the candles. Candles give such a nice light. Here, we have Spring Festival which is oddly held during the coldest part of winter. Mmm, jiaozi looks delicious! As per tradition, the Nobel laureates who stay on in Stockholm after the ceremony also receive this honour of having strangers barging into their bedrooms. Some get terrified, but Dario Fo embraced it and sang duets and danced around with the Lucia. w.carter-Talk 13:51, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Could you have a look at User talk:Nepalese Junar and WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Jslack01? At first they were considered to be a sock farm spamming Canadian gadgets for sale in Nepal (listing advantages and prices, even), but now one of the latest has revealed that she's at the University of Guelph. They are all writing in a 'by the book' style - unfortunately, it's not our book. I don't think one of them has communicated in any way. I've asked Nepalese Junar to answer me, but I'm not holding my breath... With your knowledge of the field, you may be able to come up with some way of contacting someone relevant to get this apparent project into the fold and understanding what they are doing a bit more than I think they do. I've no objection to the blocked one being unblocked now. It stopped the flow for a while, but failed to get anyone talking. (Might be Trappists...) Peridon (talk) 13:38, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Peridon. I'm still digging on this one. Will respond soon. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:42, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Peridon. I am puzzled. I went through everthing obvious. I do not know how you even found all of these accounts. I checked a bunch of the websites listed here and see no owners in common. How can I help? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:17, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
They came up through spam tagging first, and others through CU at SPI. They almost all involve Canadian connected products with a target market in Nepal with the 'advantages' stressed; the writing style very similar (most of the early ones had prices in the article), and there is the long ref list that is printed stuff that most of us can't check. I'm still undecided between sock farm and uni course that's not being taught well. They won't communicate or appeal block or autoblock. I was hoping you might be able to get in touch with someone who would know what's going on, or pass it on to another Wikipedian who could do so. If it is genuinely a uni project (and if it is, there's a lot on the course...), it would be to the advantage both of us and them to get the project known here (and on user pages) so we don't waste time chasing socks. Peridon (talk) 23:59, 17 December 2014 (UTC)
Sorry I'm not being very helpful, Peridon. I see Stine.w edited Dec 4, but all the rest were around Nov 27 and haven't edited since. Contacting them onwiki will probaby do nothing. I'll keep an eye on contribs and if anyone comes back to edit, I will write at once. I'm still looking for an offwiki connection so that I can email them. I am wondering if you or any editor able to read Chinese can comment, on either side of the issue, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2010 Hebei tractor rampage. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 20:50, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

I'm sorry, Cullen328. Because I live here, I stay away from such articles. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:47, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
I understand. If you know of another editor who could help, please let me know. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:50, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Hmmmm, you could ask at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject China. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:53, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Anupmehra -Let's talk! 18:58, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Anupmehra. Thanks for catching that. I'd unwatched the page. Presumably she, or one of here aides, had restored the fake article at her userpage. It's been there since 11:54, 6 August 2014. I've rewatched, and will periodically search for a recreation elsewhere too. Cheers. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:38, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
I was actually going through my CSD log, and found this one up. It is deleted now 4 times in userspace, 4 times in mainspace. A single-purpose account meant to create an autobiography that doesn't meet our guideline. Shouldn't title be salted now? Anupmehra -Let's talk! 08:44, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi, Anupmehra. The title was salted back on 25 May 2014. I won't protect the userpage because we can just watch that. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:05, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Units galore

SS seems to leave your comments on their talkpage, though mine get deleted immediately. The outpouring of unlinked, dodgily-sourced, poorly-written articles continues. See my work on their latest, but I don't want either to spend equivalent time on every country in the known world, or to see such poor articles sitting around in the encyclopedia. PamD 10:42, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, PamD. It is definitely not black and white. He's producing product. It has errors. This is a wiki. Others fix errors. We can also post at project pages asking for others to inspect articles and fix errors.
We have to ask if he is a net positive. Do you think he is? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:29, 4 January 2015 (UTC)
HNY, now back to work! Did my pings at User talk:Johnuniq/sandbox3#AfD 1 send notifications? Re your question, let's see how the AfDs go (several small ones have recently closed as delete). Johnuniq (talk) 02:04, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Warangal

Hi Anna, there are so many problems in this set of diffs that I'm losing the will to live, so to speak. Some is ok, so a straight restore to an earlier version would be inappropriate, but a lot - including the bizarre renaming as "Abhinav" - is clearly not useful. I'm a bit busy at the moment but will get round to sorting it out if (pretty please) you do not. And a belated HNY to you, if you follow the same calendar as me. Best wishes are, of course, due all year round. - Sitush (talk) 01:55, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Sitush. Long time. :) I've reverted to the last version by you, keeping only the following:
It is well known for heritage and has been included in the scheme of Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) along with eleven other cities of the country.[1]
It is also selected in the finalized list of 100 proposed smart cities by NDA government with the view of developing urban infrastructure and industrial investment in the listed cities.[2]

References

I make not claims about whether or not it is good for the article. But, it is not a copyvio and it is sourced. The stuff I removed wasn't in the sources and was dubious to say the least.
Have a wonderful new year. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:09, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Kes Tokyo

Hi Anna, can you compare the current state of this article with the recently deleted ones listed in the SPI? That will help make the case for a sock vs a coincidental fan. The current content doesn't look to have been mirrored too far. CrowCaw 23:54, 6 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Crow. A lot of the content at Kes Tokyo (musician) appears verbatim in the deleted Kes Tokyo. I have no doubt that this is one big happy family. Tradeblade11 is either Mhbent or part of his work/social circle.

Amar Adatia

Hi! I need you to check something for me. I see that you deleted article "Amar Adatia" twice under WP:G5. Now, a new user, Moneyreal123 appeared and his first (and so far only) edit was to create article "Amar Adatia (actor)" ("Amar Adatia" is salted). I need you to check if the article is similar to the deleted version. If it is, it would be an evidence for WP:SPI. Thanks! Vanjagenije (talk) 23:19, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Crow. The SPI shows the creator, Toldyousomuchso, as unrelated. The article Ketto was reviewed by NewZealand123 sock MaxineBangs, so likely her work. Toldyousomuchso is probably the client posting the work of MaxineBangs. So, that's why we didn't delete and block back in Aug 2014. Can you point me to a deleted Ketto? The existing Ketto shows it was only created once and never deleted. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:23, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for catching that, Vanjagenije. Same content. User blocked, article deleted. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:23, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

From SeshendraSarma

Hi Anna, If Ponnuru is called Ponnur, it is like calling Lancashire as Lancashir. The problem happens when people working n Google maps eliminate u at the end of the name. Uru means village. Ur means nothing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SeshendraSarma (talkcontribs) 01:33, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, SeshendraSarma, and welcome. :) I understand. You may be right. However, Wikipedia must use the common name for things. See the sources for the articles. They match the spelling used in the title of the article. Now that you've changed the names in the articles, the article titles do not match any more.
So, if you wish to have the title and occurrences of the name in an article a different way, you must show that those are the common names. Because this is controversial, please start talk page discussions proposing a page move to a whole new spelling.
For now, please revert back to how the articles were before and observe WP:BRD. Many thanks in advance for your kind understanding. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:49, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
@SeshendraSarma: welcome! I hope the cold is coming down in your area, it is more than what it was last year I suppose. About the articles, we were also looking at it and it feels your updates are the commonly accepted ones about Narasaraopeta and Tanguturu but for the other two, the existing names (Ponnur, Atmakur) seem to be in more common use. I hope you will understand that we are limited by what is presented in other reliable sources and we have to go with them, Wikipedia is not the place to correct a wronged name. It is a community policy and we must follow it for a disciplined functioning. I hope you understand and enjoy your stay with us and continue to make this place more lively with your presence. Thank you.   --AmritasyaPutraT 03:29, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Curious

Hello Anna, I'm just curious to know, is reverting someone's edit in user talk pages is good? I think it is not good to revert edits like that. People should manually remove them. Isn't it discouraging behaviour? When the message is not personal attack nor disruptive? Jim Carter 06:10, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Reverting and manually removing is essentially the same thing. It is his userpage, and removing it one way or the other indicates that he read it and understood. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:16, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Best taken from the desk, but had to say

Pre-poisoned bunnies and puppies? :-O That's the most horrific thing I've ever heard. That doesn't even feel like a real sentence, more like an mad-lib from a kid you want to keep an eye on. Who gets out of bed in the morning and says "Better get down to the store; those puppies and bunnies going out to families today aren't going to poison themselves! Oh yeah, this is a worthwhile life." ....I guaruntee you someone is going to randomly find me looking dour sometime in the near future and all I'll be able to say by way of explanation is "I just can't stop thinking about the pre-poisoned puppies."

Good thing you added that hamster team-building exercise in to cleanse the palate. I'll have to remember that trick for sure...I wonder if it would work on recalcitrant Wikipedia editors, hehehe. And I'm afraid I cannot confirm if I was the bit-ee or the bit-er, only that someone got a mouth-full. :D Figuratively, speaking, of course...probably. Snow talk 10:50, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Snow. Don't let the puppy thing stick in your mind. Humans visit this sort of horror on animals everywhere, and people from the most developed countries are no exception. Saying that people act like animals is an insult to animals. Oxford should rethink the definition of the word "humane". Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:25, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Hey, preaching to the choir. Still, even being much familiar with (and to certain degree desensitized to) many of those behaviours (from the industrial contexts to the more "mundane" cruelty), that's an almost surrealy ugly business to be involved with. I mean "pre-poisoned puppies" sounds more like the name a group of teenagers come up with for their punk band than something that would be a real thing. Snow talk 00:46, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Dear Anna,

you recently started articles about several NGC objects. Great work! Please remember though to link them to other projects via Wikidata. This is very easy. Simply go to an item on a different project, click on the button below the interwiki links there, and add the article to Wikidata. I have made the links for the current articles so you won't have to worry about those :). If you don;t know what languages the articles exist in you can always find an NGC article in nl.wikipedia. I started and coordinated the nl.wikipedia NGC project and I know that the Dutch Wikipedia has an article for every single object. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 06:34, 26 January 2015 (UTC)

Anna Frodesiak – Lee788 asking for help

Hi Anna Frodesiak, I'm Lee from Singapore. Recently I have a disagreement with User:Gunkarta in Soto (food) article. Please see the Talk:Soto (food) in section about redundancy. I am very disappointed with Gunkarta that can not accept the fact. Anna Frodesiak, believe me,i did not make any changes without the facts and sources. What I have found, the statement from anthropologist from the University of Gadjah Mada, Dr Lono Simatupang, according to him, the soup called soto is a mixture of various traditions and not Indonesian cuisine alone. In it there are local influences and other cultures. Noodles in soup, for example, comes from the Chinese tradition. China was the one that had the technology to make noodles and glass noodles. He also state that soto is also the possibility of influences from Indian culture. There are several uses of turmeric soup. It's like a curry from India, he said. Because the soup is a mixture of various traditions. Denys Lombard in his book Le Carrefour Javanais also suggested that the origin of soto was a Chinese soup called caudo. I did not deny it is origin from Indonesia and it is a part of Indonesian cuisine, but i only modify it as Indonesia cuisine derived from Chinese cuisine in infobox. The issue, Gunkarta can not accept the modification of the infobox even agree that it derived from Chinese cuisine. For me, infobox is very important such as full article. All the facts in the infobox should be adjusted as in the full article, however it must be in short but clear(see the soto talk page). Put in Indonesian cuisine in infobox as a creator with not mentioned the truth fact, it is good in ethic of writing? I just make little modification it derived from Chinese cuisine, 'caudo', but based on facts and sources, thats all. So, am I wrong, Anna Frodesiak? I hope you can understand what is my intention. I know you are very knowledgeable person about cuisine and you can make good judgment. User:Lee788

Hi, Lee788. I see Huon is involved and helping, so I will stay out of this. He has extraordinary judgement. I did not like Gunkarta's attacking comment at the article talk. If he does that again, rest assured Huon or others will respond appropriately. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 19:06, 1 February 2015 (UTC)

Since you were the first administrator I could remember, I informed you. How to go about it? The user is - 210.56.98.105 and here is the content I reverted and deleted. He is going on adding the vandalism content. Can we block IP Addresses? This user has been warned before. I could not find any help on searching wikipedia, so I approached you. I hope you will help! Kashisharora11 (talk) 14:41, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello Kashisharora11. I am pleased to see you doing well. You make good edits and I am happy to see you have broken the copyvio habit. :) Keep up the good work.
Thank you for bringing this advertising IP to my attention. He has stopped for now, and may possibly never use that IP address again. The best plan is for both of us to watchlist LPU and to periodically search this, this, and this for the next couple of weeks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:25, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
Umm.. LPU is Lovely Professional University. I know that. And thanks :) We will keep an eye. Kashisharora11 (talk) 09:46, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
Hi, Kashisharora11. Ah, right. I thought it was only in Punjab. Anyhow, it really looks like a scam of some sort. I see two different websites, and one of them looks fake. I'll keep an eye on the Lovely Professional University article too. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:55, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

What to do?

Hi Anna! I spend a lot of time trying to teach newbies to edit properly. But what do I do when I all of a sudden stumble upon a longtime editor and massive contributor who persists in not citing any sources for his edits and just shrugs it off when I try to explain it all? Discussion starts at this diff. I tried having a conversation about it, but it was just beating a dead horse and got me nowhere so I ended it as politely as I could. Bewildered, w.carter-Talk 14:48, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, W.carter. Well, Kruusamägi seems nice. On one hand, if he persistently adds unsourced content, it could be viewed as disruptive or even vandalistic. But, on the other hand -- and this seems to be the case here -- the edits are in good faith, probably good quality, and just need to be verified. Per WP:PROVEIT, there is no law against adding uncited content (provided no BLB vios). Edits must be verifiable, not verified. If they are challenged, they maybe be subject to removal. If you think they are dubious, remove them or find a source.
As for attribution, yes, he must do that. "...Because Wikipedia licensing requires attribution, the translation source must be credited to avoid copyright violation. Attribution in the edit summary and placing the template Translated page on the article talk page are the recommended ways to credit the source of the translation..."
Thanks for the advice. Let's hope it brings some good. It is also a not so good example for new editors, who we always drill in providing refs for everything and send their unsourced articles off to speedy deletion, when they see experienced editors just ignoring it. Best, w.carter-Talk 22:42, 11 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Vin09. I guess you are pointing me to the new edits where the editor has changed the name of the place, but not the article title. I posted here. A few responses, but nobody jumped in to help fix things, so I left it to others to handle it. I am out of my depth with this one. This is best left to the Project India members and others who really know about India place names. I suggest you post again at the project page (citing the old thread) and get some consensus on what the names should be, and how to handle the editor without getting into a war. Please let me know if it goes beyond a bit of reverting back and forth. Try to get the editor to stop and understand consensus if he starts to go against community wishes. Hi Anna! Thanks for reviewing my images. I'm very sorry that I included my name in the file names - I didn't realize that was not the proper protocol. Is there some way to fix that easily or should I simply upload new files without my name in them?

Hi, MiltonPoint. Wikipedia thanks you for the great photos! You are very good. First, I was referring to the caption below the photo in the articles (see here where you added "image by Marjorie Kaufman"). Image credits like that aren't appropriate in articles. However, you are welcome to add your name to the Author field at the photo page at Wikicommons. The other thing is the list above. You need to send that list via email. Please see this. Copy paste it to an email and just add the list where the EXAMPLE image is and email it. Best wishes. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:51, 15 February 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I just clicked a bunch of the images and see the OTRS permission has arrived at a number of them. I guess you've figured it out. :) Very nice. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:54, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Interview about your work on Wikipedia

Hello Anna,

I was just chatting with OriginalSoni for a research project I am working on and he suggested I get in touch with you. My research looks at how the participation of Wikipedians changes overtime. The interview should last about an hour and can be conducted over Skype, google, or phone. Would you be interested in chatting sometime next week?

I look forward to being in touch,

Gabrielm199 (talk) 21:45, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Gabrielm199. Sorry for the late response. I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass on this one. Google and skype are blocked in China, and I have no patience for holding a telephone up to my head for more than 30 seconds. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 15:36, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
I have conducted interviews on the talk page of my Sandbox. Would that work for you? Gabrielm199 (talk) 17:55, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
I don't mean to be rude, but is this to help Wikipedia? Do you have some further information about this? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:04, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

User:MusikAnimal/spamublock

I'm not sure if you ever got this from T13 (all due respect to him) but I ended up making my own. There'll be a {{uw-spamublock}} link under your cactions menu ("More" menu on Vector, top menu bar on Monobook). Clicking it will delete whatever page you're on as WP:G11 and block the user with account creation blocked and autoblocking the IP. Finally, the script will place {{uw-spamublock}} on the user's talk page unless there's one specified at Special:MyPage/uw-spamublock, in which case it will use that content instead. Let me know if you have any issues with it, cheers! MusikAnimal talk 20:18, 20 February 2015 (UTC)

Draft:Miss Heritage International concern

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Miss Heritage International, a page you created, has not been edited in 6 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:34, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello Anna!

its my first time here in wikipedia , having an account.

Actually im here to make an autobiography.

How I can make this? can you help me.

--Maria Yoriel Christine Lumagdang Dela Cruz (talk) 09:10, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello Maria Yoriel Christine Lumagdang Dela Cruz, and welcome. :) Yes! You can make an autobiography. There are two places for that at Wikipedia:
1. An article!
2. Your userpage
If you want an article about yourself, you should first read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and WP:42. Then, find lots and lots of good sources that write about you. Then, please let me help. Paste the links here for me to see. If you are notable, I can help create the article for you.
If you want your autobiography at your userpage, sure. But, it can only be a few sentences long. This is because, as I said at your userpage, although a lot of leeway is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not a personal website, blog, or social networking medium, nor should it be used to promote yourself, or host a fake article, CV, or lengthy biography.
By the way, are you interested in helping to build the encyclopedia without adding any content related to yourself? I ask this because, since you are a "Criminologist by Profession", maybe you know a really, really famous one who doesn't have an article yet. Would you like to write about her or him? Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:32, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Miss Heritage International

Hello Anna Frodesiak. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Miss Heritage International".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Miss Heritage International}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 02:44, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Northamerica1000. Nice! I'm actually glad you moved it to the mainspace. When I first checked it out, it seemed notable. I didn't mainspace it because the COI editor wasn't really making it easy. Plus, it's a beauty pageant, something I'm not crazy about, and also it seemed to have been named to ride the coat tails of the other, similarly named pageant. Anyhow, I guess I should add the logo, at least to help dab it from thee other one. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:37, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading the logo and adding it to the article along with the infobox. Beauty pageants aren't high on my list of preferred topics, although I work on them occasionally. Since the topic meets GNG, might as well have an article about it for Wikipedia readers. Cheers, NORTH AMERICA1000 21:10, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

AFC inquiry: Using AFC on article that is in my userspace

Anna,

I am interested in using the AFC process to approve of an article in my draft space: User_talk:WhisperToMe/Vancouversplit. It would be a split of an existing article, Chinese Canadians in British Columbia. I looked through the AFC documentation but I'm not sure exactly how I should proceed.

Thanks, WhisperToMe (talk) 04:29, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi, WhisperToMe. It doesn't seem like a controversial splitting it in two. I mean, doesn't this fall into the category of breaking away part of an article into a new article? It seems like something that can be boldly done. If you are concerned, why not just ask for input or objections at Talk:Chinese Canadians in British Columbia? Have there been objections and discussions about this that I'm not aware of? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:52, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
There is a user who has strongly objected to the split, believing that making a separate article devoted to the Chinese in Vancouver would be a Wikipedia:POV fork and Wikipedia:Synth. I've been involved in discussions related to this for several months. WhisperToMe (talk) 07:14, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi, WhisperToMe. Ah, you're talking about User:Skookum1, right? Okay, well, I cannot read through several months' worth of such discussion where he's involved. It would be far, far to lengthy, I am sure. I see no policies about being prevented from creating an article because someone, in advance, objects. You are allowed to create it as far as I'm concerned, and allowed to make it from content split of from another article. That's how Wikipedia grows. I suggest that you create it and he can take it to AfD or propose a merger if he objects to its existence. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:32, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your advice! I had already started a request for a page split (Vancouver out of BC) that still hasn't been resolved (this was before I developed the draft article). WhisperToMe (talk) 07:59, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Anna, you can't read through several months' worth of such discussion also applies to the even-more-than-me masses of board and talkpage sophistry he's engaged in. And, YES there ARE policies very specifically about splitting off content from an article so as to form a POV-charged opus rife with SYNTH content for a POV thesis involving exclusion of sources, abuse of other sources by distorting or cherrypicking, dwelling on racialized content - those policies are WP:NPOV (which is NOT negotiable, as per its own wording) and WP:POV fork which discusses exactly this situation.

Give your head a shake Anna, I thought you were wiser than this. If you find me too long to read, it's clear your never going to read the mounds of junk article-content he's dumped to try justify his split-off, nor his incredibly vast board and talkpage and other diversionary side-discussions in all their erratic sophistry and comebacks indicating he didn't understand what I posted, or wanted to change the subject so as to ignore.

The content is POV, the intent is POV, that there are geographic gaffes and also one-sided portrayals of events/people and mere words only underscores the OWNing author's complete lack of informed context on the place he want to field a sole-authorship on a POV-foundation.

Given his whole approach, including now wanting to include mainland Chinese and others in addition to Chinese Canadians, it might as well be titled Chinese colonialism in British Columbia or Chinese imperialism in Vancouver or "Chinese Vancouver".

Read your mail; falling on deaf ears no doubt but it's come time to consider whether Wikipedia is about surface and style or reputably unbiased content and not information-controlled political spam. I've been making his massively junky additions to the CCinBC article readable and removing all the repetitions of the same events and single-cite short sentences about one obscure academic's use of a pejorative, then another, and another. Compare his Hongcouver section to the cleaned up one on the CCinBC page... SYNTH and UNDUE from start to finish; and the word is now mostly only used by Chinese either complaining about it, or by a Chinese columnist who uses it as a masthead; like blaming Big Bad Skookum1 for being "scary to closers", it's got a whole academic literature about it, which is what keeps the myth alive.

But if you don't want to read the background to the dispute, it's quite likely you haven't really studied the article or what it says, and how both biased and thin-on-the-ground it is. I won't expect you to pick out the American gaffes and spellings that I've found so common in his work since he first invaded Canadian article space back in October and set up shop and wanted to move things around and dispute long-accepted Canadian terminology. That this is being discussed by foreigners, quite frankly, who don't know the subject matter (and he likes it that way) and have no patience to read either about the subject or what the ongoing dispute about content has been about is rather disgusting and offensive; but then the content of the article WILL be offensive to the general readership in BC, and that's WHY IT IS POV in its currewnt form and under its "current management".Skookum1 (talk) 10:57, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

I just read the first paragraph of your response, then re-read WP:POV fork carefully, again, and must say that it is very, very far from "exactly this situation". There is obvious disagreement about whether this fits the definition of a fork. I think it is being created in good faith. If WhisperToMe puts this into the mainspace, please feel free to act as you see fit. If I will be busy for the next couple of days. Stay calm. Best wishes. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:58, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Further to your "...exactly this situation...": This new article appears to contain content that breaks away from the parent with information that is specific to Vancouver. If I am missing something, then that something would be from the 55,696 word, several-month-long discussion you have had about this. It is unreasonable to ask anyone to read all of that. If it were short and to the point, one might have a chance.
Again, what I am seeing here is a draft very specifically about Vancouver. The parent is mostly about the province. If one wants to add more content about Vancouver to the already very large Chinese Canadians in British Columbia, how would that be done without creating a new article? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:20, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi, Skookum1. Here's a long one for you:
Further to your "...exactly this situation...": This new article appears to contain content that breaks away from the parent with information that specific to Vancouver. I have given an opinion, not permission. WtM can do as he sees fit. However, your position is to demand that nothing be done until there is agreement. Well, nobody wants to get deeply involved to sort things where you are involved. This is because it means reading walls of text and endless discussion. It is tantamount to a strategy and unfair advantage. If the article is created and you want content removed, then you have to make an argument for that while observing WP:BRD. That would be decidedly disadvantageous to you because nobody wants to engage you.
This is not about this particular article or this editor. The common denominator is the manner of your talk page edits. Wherever you have edited, I've seen the same thing. You wear others down. Everyone leaves until it is just you and one other. Nobody wants to help. Everything gets bogged down. Nothing gets done. I prefer to be concise (except with this post  ), compromise and move forward. Can you concisely communicate a way to compromise and move forward? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:20, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
"This is because it means reading walls of text and endless discussion. It is tantamount to a strategy and unfair advantage." - he used exactly that tactic himself; so many times on boards, talkpages, and on the article talkpage; and drowned his own RfC about a merge re his similarly-biased/clueless Indo-Canadian titles. A lot of those "55,956 words" were his, all being obstinate and obstructive and working hard to reject sources or facts not to his liking/bias. And that tactic is described in certain passage of WP:POV fork.
the grossly overpadded Vancouver section that he is now POV forking is full of junk/trivia and off-topic content and UNDUE, he was only adding content IMO to try to justify the split; I've found tons of repetitions, loads of bad writing, abuse of sources and SYNTH and more. And you say "be concise" - when there's so much wrong all at once and I try to lay it out and show what's wrong with it, it's "too long to read". So, apparently, is the NPOV policy and the many subsections of it, and the POV fork policy.
"Compromise" with the uncompromising - his ongoing insistence that his bigotry is "not POV" is codswallop - is just not do-able without listening to and heeding the very valid points about POVism on this subject that are "too long for you to read", as is I imagine BC history in general. He has rejected collaborative input and gone seeking authority to crap on me for daring to argue with him, and repeatedly lectured me as if I was his student and he was my TA.
Compare my changes to the CCinBC article to what it was before I finally started ignoring all the harassment and got to working on its very bad writing and making it cogent, with more sense of timeline and geography, and removed (only some so far) of teh sea of repetitions...more readable. It's loaded with WP:OVERKILL, even citing single words from an obscure thesis as a long-winded sentence; so there's cites out the ying-yang, stringing together POV-cherrypicked derisive reviews (not sources) as if that was valid content rather than rank SYNTH. WP:Scholarly sources fallacy is not a policy or guideline, just as essay, but this is a case in point of masses of useless and/or biased information SYNTHed up with "scholarly presentation" that's advancing bunk, and where non-scholarly sources that show (easily) how bad those sources are in terms of quality and bias are warred against and excluded, plus any GF for someone raising those other sources and demanding "fair content".
I'm starting to understand that those who don't have the patience of comprehension to read the issues or the debate and who do not know about the subject matter of a dispute have no readiness or ability to come to terms with POV bullshit, or with bad writing either; you won't read what I write, or any of my analyses and examples of POV and general ignorance of context on the article talkpage. It is rather strange that so many people who have taken on the role of writing an encyclopedia have so little patience with listening to reason, never mind learning about the subject, will weigh in to....to refuse to listen. And talk about "compromise" when none has ever been possible with WTM (whose TLDR/WoT habits are far worse than my own) - and what is being compromised is the neutrality policy.....
What's the point anymore? Anything I say is "not concise enough" and won't be read, and nobody gives a SHIT about policy violations and refuse to learn about why they are policy violations? Rank racialized sophistry dressed up with footnotes or not is still rank racialized sophistry.
The POV fork policy talks specifically about created walled-garden articles excluding sources and more; you should try to read it sometime, if it's not too long for you....Skookum1 (talk) 00:48, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

NPOV is a policy and per its own text is it NOT negotiable.

A pretty surface belies a poisoned well. "you've got mail" used the wrong template....Skookum1 (talk) 10:40, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

1. I am sorry. I have no idea what "...A pretty surface belies a poisoned well..." means.
2. I am sorry again. For transparency, and because I just saw a huge wall of text, I will not read nor reply to those emails (I think you sent the same one twice.) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 10:46, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

What that meant is that surface-niceties do not make valid substance when what substance there is is heavily tainted - and built up as - outright racialized propaganda without any balance. If you can't be bothered to read my email, it's clear you haven't bothered to read and consider the article itself, which is "TLDR" and full of TRIVIA; the "poison" is the endless blame-whitey tone and whole passages SYNTHed about that with heavy bias and selected facts and a lot of TRIVIA/UNDUE used to over-pad content so as to claim the split is OK....read teh POV fork policy, and the POV policy - bits are on my talkpage with highlighted sentences.

You are condoning a POV tract; but what's the use in saying so? A confab of non-Canadians who refuse to consider POV problems and reject any information on that as it's "too long to read" advancing a biased and ethnically-bigoted version of Canadian history written by another non-Canadian, while rejecting the Canadian from the place who has been vilified and consistently derided for standing up for policy and fair, neutral content per WP:NPOV.

Do you know anything of the historical material or the rest of what's out there on the subject? Does Viriditas? Moonriddengirl? No, none of you do, and don't have the patience/comprehension skills to read my examinations of the heavy bias, abuse of sources, repetitive gunk and UNDUE and SYNTH, either.... and WTM is fine with asking for support from people who will pat him on the back who don't know the material or have ANY IDEA what the POV problem is...."

If you can't take time to understand the content issues and have no problem at all approving and supporting a blatant POV fork, and a simple metaphor about a poisoned pool escapes you, I'm wasting my words. I'm tired of being patronized and dismissed and my points never listened to by those who can't/won't look into the reasons for my opposition to this ongoing farce of POVitis....and who blithely say nothing about WTM's huge deluge of writings advancing his theories about guidlines.

Read NPOV and the POV fork policy; they're kinda long, maybe you will find them "walls of text", too....if you don't understand the POV issues, refusing to read about them because it's "too long to read" is washing your hands of NPOV and saying it doesn't matter, while overly-cited junk padding out rank biased and often bigoted "scholarly" SYNTH, then you have pushed a non-negotiable policy to the wayside just because the author has footnoted everything and "talks nice". NPOV is not negotiable. Period.Skookum1 (talk) 00:18, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi Anna, I'm reverting edits by Edit888 (talk · contribs), most of which I find promotional in tone and unreferenced, or sourced only to press release or primary sources. You appear to have noted their contributions in the past, and I'm mentioning this both for your input, and to free myself from the appearance of edit warring. Thanks in advance, 2602:302:D89:A9C9:5DFF:2E39:8337:2C8E (talk) 14:09, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

I've been watching his edits and have now given him a final warning. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:23, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Much appreciated. Cheers, 2602:302:D89:A9C9:5DFF:2E39:8337:2C8E (talk) 14:35, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Selma (Leesburg, Virginia)

A new concern, Anna, is the edit war beginning to blossom at Selma (Leesburg, Virginia). I've reverted using two IPs, which my edits reflect randomly; the added content includes original research and a long, irrelevant list of creditors. Again, any help will be more than welcome. Cheers, 2602:302:D89:A9C9:5DFF:2E39:8337:2C8E (talk) 15:53, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi, 2602:302:D89:A9C9:5DFF:2E39:8337:2C8E. I wouldn't worry about that. There are 3 editors, including you, who have removed it. It is unsourced, and even if a source can be found, that would best be an external link. I suggest letting it play out. The IP may give up. If he persists, we can warn him. Three editors reverting means the IP may breach WP:3RR while others will not. Finally, there is temporary protection. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:30, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
What, me worry? Thank you, 2602:302:D88:839:6548:8DA:7432:C0 (talk) 00:02, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Towboard, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Scuba. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thank you, Nakulmehra. Again, please ensure that you do not upload images that you do not own, copy paste, or write with close paraphrasing.
Oh, and don't forget to sign the end of your messages with ~~~~ and make section headings that are not~~~~. Thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:30, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi Thankyou for your suggestion. I found that image from a valuable source but that's not own. So I deleted that image from page. Now plz re-consider.

Thankyou for reviewing. I had uploaded an image of Suraj Gowda and I have permission to use it. Tell me the procedure how to remove OTRS notice because I had the letter of confirmation from owner for the image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Suraj_Gowda.jpg Nakulmehra (talk) 11:20, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Nakulmehra. Considering that you have had issues with copyright infringement, I think it is best that the owner send in the OTRS. See here. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:55, 20 March 2015 (UTC)
