Edit semi-protect request
Please give my account a protection. I am planning to make my own biography of myself here on Wikipedia, and I don't want anybody to mess it up, so please accept my request. 03:31, 23 March 2015
- Hi, User:KeiSeeger. Your userpage is not a place to write or host your biography. I am refusing your request. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 03:50, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- I understand, well I am just gonna use it to host a biography of myself, just a very short biography. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KeiSeeger (talk • contribs) 06:21, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, User:KeiSeeger. Hmmmmmmm, but do you think that you will actually help to build Wikipedia? Are you only here to host your half dozen social networking urls and your photo? I must say, that if that is the case, someone (maybe even me) might come along and decide to delete the page. Why not work on the encyclopedia? It is fun and Wikipedia needs you. page
hello,
I am trying to open a page for an artist that is currently signed to Drake's label, his name is Mikey Amare. im having trouble creating a page
thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikeyamare (talk • contribs) 05:22, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Mikeyamare, and welcome. Maybe I can help. First read WP:42 then find lots and lots of good media references. Paste them here and if there are enough, I can help create the article for you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:42, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
Quiltmaking in Hainan
Hello Anna Frodesiak!
I fell through a wormhole in the WWW and found your series of photos on blanket making in China and I'm keenly interested in what's happening in those photos. Can you tell me more about them? What's the finished product and more about the process? Much obliged!
Rehasaurus (talk) 06:50, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Rehasaurus. I must confess that I didn't actually take those pics. One of the gang did. However, I've seen such a set-up many times. It is basically self-explanatory. The finished product is sold as the inside of a simple duvet cover. Is there anything in particular you wish to know? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:45, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
Blocking my page
Hi Anna, so sorry about this...I had no idea it was not allowed. Someone suggested that I put my business on this site and I obviously didn't read all the "small print" to learn that this is not a place to do that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cheryl J Chandler (talk • contribs) 13:55, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Cheryl J Chandler. It is quite alright. If you are ever notable enough for an article per WP:42, I would be happy to help with your article. Until then, I hope you can help build this encyclopedia without adding content related to yourself personally or your business. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:25, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
Template talk:Db-notice/Archives/ 1#Template-protected edit request on 26 March 2015
You are invited to join the discussion at Template talk:Db-notice/Archives/ 1#Template-protected edit request on 26 March 2015. Thanks. Gparyani (talk) 23:04, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Gparyani. I'm waiting... Gparyani (talk) 14:39, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- I'm so sorry. I saw "...invited to join the discussion..." and thought it was an optional thing. I just woke up and have a busy two days. I'll need more time to figure out what this is about. I hope stalkers and others can be of assistance in the mean time. Again, sorry. :) I didn't mean to leave you waiting. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:46, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
- I'm so sorry if I troubled you. It's just that that boilerplate message is listed as "Please see" in Twinkle, and that the template is named Template:Please see (which IMO is a misnomer given that the text means something different). But please do see that page. Basically, we routinely get requests at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion that ask for pages deleted under criterion A7 to be undeleted; however, such requests are not handled there and are summarily rejected, with the requester asked to contact the deleting admin instead. I think that that is because the talk page warning for A7 nominations (i.e. Template:Db-notability-notice) asks users to post there (because it uses Template:Db-notice, which is what all talk page CSD warning templates use), and my request is basically to provide an option to remove that link in that template so that the A7 warning template, as well as other warranted warning templates, won't have a link there. This will help reduce the high volume of undeletion requests for A7-deleted articles at WP:RFUD, reducing the total work for admins. Gparyani (talk) 00:28, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, and I should mention that I pinged you because I tried pinging the other admin who declined my initial request (asking me to first edit the template sandbox before requesting again), but I received no response. He's apparently opted out of talkbacks, so I can't try to reach him again. Would be great if you could try reaching him. Gparyani (talk) 00:33, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi. Gparyani. I'm sorry again for not weighing in. I see T13 is working on it. I missed this message. For some reason, it does not show up on my alters. Odd. But, I have been watching the discussion over there. Who is the other admin? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:51, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
- T13 is the one. Could you also chime in at the discussion I started on WT:RFUD? Gparyani (talk) 15:47, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Gparyani.
- T13 is not an admin. He is knowledgeable and helpful, though.
- So, I see:
- and
- So, first step for contesting A7 is the deleting admin. If no satisfaction, go to Wikipedia:Deletion review, right?
- This seems straighforward, but yes, a few others agreeing to get consensus would be good.
- Although this is only slightly related to transclusion code and Twinkle, please know that I am not a technical person, so do not understand code well, and I do not use Twinkle at all. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:20, 30 March 2015 (UTC)
- Could you at least voice your support at that discussion (on WT:RFUD), though? Gparyani (talk) 23:35, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

- Hi, Gparyani. Forgive my stupidity, but why not just change:
- "...If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here (Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion)..."

- Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:14, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- Good idea, though it could be controversial, especially for certain criteria, like G13, where WP:RFUD is the preferred venue. My suggestion is to make the edit since you have the rights, and also mention that you have done so on my discussion at WT:RFUD so that we can revert and discuss if necessary (and to avoid fragmented discussion between here and there).
- I was also thinking of adding an editnotice to WP:RFUD asking that users don't put A7 undeletion requests there, in case people find that page via some search or other help page. However, we can't only put an editnotice without changing the user warning, as they would contradict and would make newbies confused. You can find an example at User:Gparyani/sandbox; feel free to edit it if you like. Gparyani (talk) 03:18, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Gparyani. I am not comfortable making the changes myself. It is not entirely uncontroversial, and as such, discussion and consensus must come first. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:20, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Could you also mention it at WT:RFUD under my discussion? Also, what do you think of the editnotice idea? It will help catch those cases where an article was nominated for a different criterion yet deleted under A7. (see the discussion for more info) Gparyani (talk) 00:28, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

- What you said about changing the link to WP:RFUD to WP:DRV on Template:Db-notice. Gparyani (talk) 00:36, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- It was just a thought. I do not know if that is the best thing to do. I really wish to leave this to others to decide. Being an admin makes me able to edit the protected page, but it does not mean that my views are valuable in this matter. I really think others are better able to sort this out. In fact, I think several others all discussing things together is best. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:41, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- If you really want to push things foward, then state things like "...If there are no objections, I would like XXXX..." That may prompt others to speak up and you can get some traction for your idea, or at least know one way or another. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:43, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

Deleted Wikipedia Page
Dear Anna:
I believe you accidentally deleted my page Rafael Salazar by mistake.
I have been trying to create my Profile in Wikipedia for the longest as I am an artist with quite a presence on Internet since I sell my art in several websites.
It is very important that I resolve this issue and would like to know how.
Best regards
--Rafael Salazar (talk) 16:18, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Rafael Salazar. It was not "accidental". I deleted it because it was promotional. In fact, I was considering blocking your account because it was so promotional. Here is a line from it: "...This incredibly talented artist welcomes you to his on-line portfolio of the world seen thru his eyes..."
- Now, there are two places at Wikipedia for content about you:
- 1. An article! If you want an article about yourself, you should first read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide and WP:42. Then, find lots and lots of good sources that write about you. Then, please let me help. Paste the links here for me to see. If you are notable, I can help create the article for you.
- 2. Your userpage. It is not for a lengthy profile. If you want your autobiography at your userpage, sure. But, it can only be a few sentences long. This is because, although a lot of leeway is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not a personal website, blog, or social networking medium, nor should it be used to promote yourself, or host a fake article, CV, or lengthy biography.
- So, what do you think? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:30, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
Add a "Common reasons why I deleted your page" list
I noticed that many people post on your talk page about a deletion you made. Why don't you add an editnotice to your talk page linking to another page that outlines common reasons why you delete pages? See User talk:Gogo Dodo for an example. Gparyani (talk) 17:51, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Gparyani. I'll consider that. I actually have a bunch of boilerplate responses, so it is no trouble. Many thanks for the suggestion, though. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:55, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- It's no trouble creating an editnotice for your user talk page. That can be done at User talk:Anna Frodesiak/Editnotice. Gparyani (talk) 22:36, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- You are very nice to suggest it. There is just something about big, red notices for people to read before posting that I am not crazy about. But thank you kindly. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:15, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- You could use just a simple Template:Editnotice to supply a simple border; that'll blend in with the UI. It'll only be a big red/yellow/colored box if you make it as such (ex. by using Template:Warning). Gparyani (talk) 02:28, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you. Actually, I know how to do the colours. Speaking of colours, I love this. I've used it lots to pick colours for my pages in the past. Maybe it's time for me to pick a new theme colour. Yeah, maybe today. :) Anyhow, I still think I'd prefer to avoid instruction creep. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:39, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Promotion
Re this edit: it's amazing what people with a COI can convince themselves is not promotional. My favourite, example is "This is written with no promotional tone" about an article which included "phenomenally successful... obsessive and extensive knowledge of fashion design... revered for his rare ability... an arbiter of taste... his inventive images... " I find it's no good saying "Wikipedia is not for promotion", because they don't think that what they are doing is promotion. "Wikipedia is not for companies to tell the world about themselves" is more likely to get through. JohnCD (talk) 20:43, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, JohnCD. I just caught that spelling error. I do check. I promise, it's rare. :). Yes, promotional it was. I was surprised he got away with a softerblock. Yes, "Wikipedia is not for companies to tell the world about themselves" is a better line. I like that. I may start to put it into my boilerplates. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:55, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
Protection request of User talk:Anna F remote
I've requested that the talk page of your alternate account, User talk:Anna F remote, be protected due to the continuous, unceasing (to this day) edit warring between IP users and you. The nomination's at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection; feel free to remove my request if you like. Gparyani (talk) 02:32, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- Wait, it's been declined on the grounds that "user talk pages are not protected unless in response to severe or continued vandalism", but isn't that continuous vandalism? Gparyani (talk) 02:34, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Square dancing DYK
Anna,
I have now expanded that article to the point that I thought it could be expanded to, and nominated it for DYK. I have added you as a coauthor because you did contribute a little bit and, more importantly, you took the video. Hope you don't mind. Daniel Case (talk) 19:40, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Daniel Case. A little bit? Ha! I started it using a fine blend of clumsy sentences and original research. Then you came along and turned it into a, well, yes, it is huge, comprehensive, beautifully written, well researched, and, where am I going with this? Oh, yeah. Sure, DYK, put me on the list. The video is not bad.
- Seriously, I was astonished at open-crotch pants. And now this. I do not know how you do it. You have a great head for writing. Very well done! (By the way, the open-crotch pants DYK thing was a bum deal. Arbitrary removal like that really revealed/concealed a crack in the system. I just tried to make light of the situation because it was after the fact and I wanted to avoid bad blood. I was genuinely disappointed.) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:46, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
- As I promised near the end of that debacle, I intend at some point to collect the research that would show more clearly how kaidangku came to be and develop it to FA. Then we can get that pic on the page. Daniel Case (talk) 02:58, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
- Good! :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:01, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

Oh wait, "bum deal". I get it now. Ha HA.
Seriously, as for the praise for my article efforts related to China, you are so welcome. I like to think my writing reflects my days in journalism ... it may not be the most ideal job market at the moment but it'll do wonders for your prose.
I take the same deep-dive approach to writing about China and Chinese topics (if you haven't seen Chaonei No. 81 (my Halloween DYK) Olympic Park Observation Tower, Digital Beijing Building and Chinese home run (for baseball season), do check them out. And there's a few more coming). It's funny you should say this, because a year ago I was in China, taking a lot of the pictures I've uploaded (and haven't finished—as I type I'm editing and uploading some from the Summer Palace). And this past Sunday, at Wiki-Day NYC, I was giving a presentation about how doing this sort of cross-cultural editing has made me a better editor—I'm going into sources I'd never suspect exist (mainly the Chinese web, which even though I don't understand the language too well (yet, anyway), I can manage thanks to Google Translate). Censorship issues notwithstanding, zhwiki is still good where it has articles (and I am also pleased that an article that had some Chinese connections, Death of Elisa Lam has inspired a Chinese version (Although I will have to get Google not to translate her name in the title literally—especially since one unintentional English rendering can be twisted into "blue child in a can", which is particularly outrageous considering where her body was found). In fact, a few of their articles are better than ours—compare Olympic Green, basically just lists, photos and a perfunctory history, with their version, a GA-equivalent that, when translated, yields a much more detailed account of the planning and construction process.
Sorry I forgot that you'd created the article. I think when I wrote that I thought you might have, but lacked the time to check. Daniel Case (talk) 04:01, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Daniel. The articles you wrote and link to are great! As for zhwiki, I feel that, like Baidu Baike and newspaper pieces here, those articles contain so much empty information --lots of talk, but little conveyed. So, do you like doggies? If you find anything on The Yellow Dog of Lao Pan, and it is your cup of tea, it may make a good article. Plus, we might be able to get a non-free image somewhere. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:58, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, they generally aren't promising places to look for sources. But sometimes you do find something, so it's worth taking the effort if it's more than a stub. Daniel Case (talk) 17:42, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

I wonder why you still manually archive your talk page. Out of curiosity, why don't you let an automated bot (User:Lowercase sigmabot III) do it for you? Did you try a bot before, and did it not work? Or do you just not have the time?
I can help you set up auto-archival (I've helped another user with it, User:Tokyogirl79, by the way.). Gparyani (talk) 04:24, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

- I can think of a couple others, who have really long talk pages, that do it manually. I never understood, but to each their own I suppose, at least you keep this page to a manageable size :) --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:07, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi A.F. – FYI, check out User:Equazcion/OneClickArchiver, which performs archiving of individual discussions with one click. It eliminates having to copy/paste from talk to archive pages, while still being user-controlled. I use it, and it works very efficiently. North America1000 11:48, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- I think you still have to have autoarchiving parameters set up on your talk page, or else the script won't know where to send it to. It also will not create a new archive when you reach the maximum size. --kelapstick(bainuu) 11:52, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- You guys are very kind to comment, but really, archiving takes me less than a minute once a month or so. Thanks. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:34, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
- I rarely, if ever, have people posting on my talk page, yet I still use an archival bot. Gparyani (talk) 23:22, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Request for help
Hi, I don't know if i should write this to you (you can pass it along to the appropriate person if necessary), and the only reason I am writing you is because you left your "Welcome to Wikipedia" message on the Talk page for SP612. He wrecked the article page for Egocentrism on 30 March by deleting all of the inline references. (He apparently just copied the article text, made his changes, and then ... well, you can figure it out.) I personally don't know anything about the subject so I don't know if his additions by themselves are useful, so simply reverting back to a previous edit may not be reasonable. (I noticed on his talk page two other people complained about his borderline vandalism on other articles). In addition to fixing his mess on that Egocentrism article, can someone go back behind him to check any other articles he may have done this to? Thanks, and sorry to have bothered you. __209.179.23.132 (talk) 00:56, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Done I've reverted and posted about it on the relevant talk pages. Thanks for flagging this. Samsara 02:02, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

From Textual solutions about literary museums
Thanks, there's an entry 'literary museum'searchable by type or by country, what's missing is cross-reference hyperlink as some museums that should be included in this category appear in Wikipedia as individual entries and all the editor needs to do is to add the link, ie direct the reader to any item that might be related eg historic house — Preceding unsigned comment added by Textual solutions (talk • contribs) 07:37, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hello and welcome, Textual solutions. You say there is an entry called "literary museum". There is no article with that name. Where is the entry? I am not clear on what you mean.
- There are two ways to link articles together: 1. by using the categories at the bottom of the article, and 2. by making a hyperlink called Literary museum or List of literary museums, and having that blue link in articles. If you choose 2, that link must lead to an article called "literary museum". Right now, Literary museum and List of literary museums are red. That means it is not an article. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:17, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- I reached this wikipedia category when I googled with the search term 'literary museum(s)`, you have a point though, wikipedia search yields individual museums in this category but not the category itself!textual solutions — Preceding unsigned comment added by Textual solutions (talk • contribs) 18:25, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, Textual solutions. My goodness! There is not even a mention of the words "literature" or "literary" in the article Museum, yet we have Category:Literary museums with so many entries. I just raised the issue at Wikipedia:WikiProject Museums with this post. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:00, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

- Thanks!Do you know why this happens? Is it to do with editing or just too many contributors unaware of what the others are doing or perhaps a problem of metadata? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Textual solutions (talk • contribs) 02:50, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- You are most welcome, Textual solutions. So far, no response from that project.
- Do I know why what happens? Do you mean why articles are not yet created and are red links? Do you mean why articles are not linked together? Well, about the first question, it is simply because nobody has yet to create it. This is still an incomplete encyclopedia. As for the second question, articles are linked together. This is not always in the text, like in Orange (fruit). There we see links in the first sentence to the parent articles about fruit and citrus. But, all articles are linked somehow. Articles Samay Huasi and One Street Museum both link to Category:Literary museums. Categories are less obvious than hyperlinks in the body of the article, of course. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:17, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
Hi. I've changed the warning template you applied as it didn't match the block you imposed (but I've put it over your existing sig). You blocked spam username, but only warned spam. The user can't seem to understand what is wrong - I suspect a slight competence problem... Peridon (talk) 14:08, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, Peridon. Replacing the template is fine with me. Thank you for that. I think I should split up my spamublock template: one for promo but no username issues, and a second one for promo and username issue.
- The action I originally took:
- I blocked with rationale :
- "...uw-spamublock...Promotional username, promotional edits ..."
- The template I added read:
- "...You have been blocked from editing because the purpose of this account appears to be for advertising or promotion..."
- I think the template needed a mention of the username issues. It would have helped the user understand that there is a username issue as well. Would you agree? Many thanks for bringing this to my attention. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:29, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Rather than creating another template, I've modified my spamublock template to include the standard "...because your account's edits and/or username indicate that..." (before --> now)
- Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:54, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- For warnings, I just use the spamublock template at the bottom of the Twinkle list for name + spam ones, and the soablock one for other things (except the good cause ones, but including spambots). Peridon (talk) 16:56, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Peridon. I agree with you. Two templates are needed. Almost always, the accounts do not request an unblock, but, when they do, it matters. I will do as you do. I will still give thought to a custom spamublock template that is shorter. I'm not sure what I can come up with.
- Backstory: I decided a while back to create custom templates. I felt the spamublock was way too long. I noticed that other admins used custom ones, so consulted with User:JamesBWatson here.
- Many thanks for the feedback. I am grateful. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:42, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
- Yes. I have felt for a very long time that the standard block messages for spam-related issues are very poor, the spamusername one in particular being horrible. I think there is a good case for a very radical re-write of at least that one, but to drastically re-write such a prominent and commonly used notice discussion and consensus would be needed, and I never feel enthusiastic enough to launch such a discussion. In the meanwhile, I use User:JBW/sp-un, which in my opinion has several advantages over existing standard templates, including the following:
- It is shorter than Uw-spamublock. Uw-spamublock is so long that many blocked editors fail to take it all in, and make unblock requests that show that they have not grasped some of the most important points, which get lost amongst all the detail. (However, the present version, at 4,308 bytes, is much better than some earlier versions, several of which were closer to 7000 bytes than 6000).
- It gives most emphasis on promotion, mentioning the username as a secondary issue, which in my opinion is as it should be. Very often, administrators who don't like Uw-spamublock, instead just give a username block or a "softer block", even in cases of really blatant spam accounts. I understand why they do it, but I think it is a mistake. It has the result that the editor has been told "Your username is the only reason for this block", and so they perfectly reasonably think that it's OK to create a new account and carry on editing in exactly the same way as before, only to find that they are blocked again, with a different reason given, directly contradicting what they were originally told. That is both unfair to the editor, and unhelpful to the project; when the most important problem with an account is that it is being used for promotion, the owner of that account should be told that that is the case, so that they know what the situation is.

- Having said that, I confess that I do frequently block giving "Using Wikipedia for spam or advertising purposes" as the block log reason, but posting on the user's talk page User:JBW/sp-un, which mentions the username issue too. Perhaps ideally I shouldn't do that, but I regard this as a better compromise than either letting the blocked editor see the horrible Template:Uw-spamublock as soon as they try to edit, or posting a totally misleading Template:Uw-ublock. Perhaps ideally the message the blocked editor sees on their talk page should agree with the one they saw when they tried to edit, but I'm not sure that is necessarily always far better than giving a brief summary of the main reason for the block in the one they see first, and more detail in the one they will see if they then go to their talk page to request an unblock. I confess, though, I don't like the way you did it this time, Anna, where the horrible long intimidating message comes as soon as the editor tries to edit, and the shorter one later when they look at their talk page. However, I would probably have consulted you first, rather than changing it first and then telling you, as Peridon did, because for all I know doing it that way may have been a deliberate and calculated choice for some special reason. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 19:33, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for the comments, James. I just woke up and will read it again soon. Pinging Peridon in case he'd like to give it a read too. Best wishes to you both. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:21, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
- The reason for my changing first was that I wanted the user to get the right template for a name change request. I'd have cheerfully reverted myself if you had had a hidden agenda.... Peridon (talk) 10:27, 8 April 2015 (UTC)

- Hello James, and sorry for the late reply. I like and agree with what you wrote, especially about hblock. However, I am confused by your "... I confess, though, I don't like the way you did it this time, Anna, where the horrible long intimidating message comes as soon as the editor tries to edit, and the shorter one later when they look at their talk page..." I did not post a horrible long intimidating message. I posted this, a short, custom template. Peridon added the large one later with this edit.
- Peridon's concen in how I handled things is that my block template did not mention the username issue. He has a point. When asking for an unblock, the user was unaware that the username was also an issue. Maybe this User:Anna Frodesiak/Cuw-soa-block is better because it contains the "and/or" (edits/username) -- short, and a sort of catch-all.
- Also, I am not sure what you mean by the shorter one later when they look at their talk page. In fact, that whole sentence confuses me. :) I'm sorry to be so daft. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:38, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, I evidently didn't make my meaning clear. I was referring to the fact that you put {{uw-spamublock}} in the block log reason, and that means that when the editor tries to edit, the spamublock template will appear in the message that appears to tell him or her that the account is blocked. After seeing that, if the editor then goes to their talk page, they then see the message you posted there. Basically, whatever is in the block log is what the blocked editor sees on trying to edit, with transclusion of any templates (but excluding anything between <!-- and -->). I was assuming you knew that it works that way, but what you say suggests that either you didn't know that, or else I didn't make it clear that that was what I meant. Now that I think about it I can't imagine why I would assume you knew it works that way, since it was a very long time before I found out that any template in the block log appear in the "you are blocked" message. When I did realise that, I started being much more careful about what reasons I gave in the log. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 08:48, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, JamesBWatson. Oh, dear. I must immediately make a dummy account or use my alt and block it to see what a blocked user experiences. My apologies for not thinking of that. Things are crystal clear now. Thank you so much. If I get locked out somehow, I will refer to this post at IRC to get rescued. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:02, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Ahhhhhh, now I see. I blocked and unblocked User talk:Anna Frodesiak's test account. I took a screenshot for future reference. I cannot say I am too crazy about that huge, unavoidable spamublock notice. You are right when you say it is too much for many to read. It is like a tax form. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:23, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, that's what I think, and why I long ago stopped ever giving it as a block reason. Do you know, I am feeling really silly having assumed you knew that the block log reason controlled what a blocked editor sees when trying to edit, because I myself never realised that happened until another administrator posted a message to my talk page which took it for granted that I would know. After that, why should I assume you would know? The answer, I think, is that I always go around assuming that if I don't realise something then it must be some sort of failing on my part, and everyone else does realise it. Why I am like that, goodness knows: probably something to do with how my parents treated me when I was a child. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 10:57, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

- Hi, JamesBWatson. No failing on your part. I should have known. Maybe the new admin school has that information. But, I never saw it. So, you've probably told me before, but what do you use as a block reason instead -- Template:Uw-soablock, right? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:16, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

Table suggestions/help requested
Aloha, Anna. I would like to convert Lise Tréhot#Selected works as model to a table, but I'm unclear on the best table format for a "list of paintings". I can do the heavy lifting and move all of the images/data into the table if you can get me started with the correct layout. Of course, if you want to help, you're welcome as well. I'm not sure how many rows I need just yet (probably between 20-30), but there should be at least six columns: Image (or some other standard name for the painting); title; year of work; type (for example, oil on canvas); size or dimensions; and gallery hosting the work. Again, I'm not sure of the standard naming conventions for such columns or the layout. Thanks. Viriditas (talk) 03:05, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'm happy to help. I just need a bit of time to give it some thought. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:26, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Viriditas. Here is a sample:
Image | Title | Year of work | Type | Dimensions | Gallery | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Lise with Umbrella | 1867 | Oil on canvas | 184 × 115 cm (72.4 × 45.3 in) |
Museum Folkwang | Note the ridiculously small umbrella. The subject was drenched a number of times while modeling for this painting. Renoir's next work featured Lise smiling and was titled Lise in a raincoat". |
- After you've decided on the columns, you can paste a list of data to one of my sandboxes. As long as each entry has the right number of fields (blank fields should contain a seldom-used character as a placeholder like ` or something), I can automatically make the table. I suggest opening up all the images you want in browser tabs, highlighting the urls, and then drag and dropping them to a notepad. Add data below each one and I can take it from there, even including title sorting (which may differ from the image name). Anna Frodesiak (talk) 21:17, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, Anna. However, I think I can take it from here. The reason I asked is because I thought, like everything else around here, that the table markup had changed. Looking at the above, it appears that it hasn't. Viriditas (talk) 07:36, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- It looks great now! Well done. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:47, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

Btw, I want to let you know that I appreciate your funny note. Someone online (I can't remember the site) discovered a real antique parasol that matches the one in the painting and it is the coolest thing I've ever seen. Did you know in the early 1960s the proto-hippies in the San Francisco Bay Area tried to resurrect Victorian fashion? Although I wasn't alive at the time, you can find some bizarre photographs of these hipsters in several different books on the subject. They even combined Victorian fashion with Western outfits. I can't wait to get a hold of those imaging 3D printers. You simply take a photo of a piece of clothing and then print it out. Oh wait, that was a Star Trek episode. Or was it? Heh. In any case, the tech is real, there was an article about it yesterday. Viriditas (talk) 08:08, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hipsters! Don't get me started on hipsters. So, where is the Hipster (contemporary subculture) lead image? Too vague for a poster child? And where is the Kramer "hipster doofus" pop culture mention? :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:47, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- In Hawaii, the younger Asian tourists from China and Japan have the retro-irony thing down, and it's interesting to see how hipster they can get. I thought the same would be true of our Korean tourists, but for some reason they tend to be highly conservative in their appearance, but super nice. Often times their English is better than the average American. But it's obvious to me at least, that there are more hipsters in Asia than in the US. Speaking of Seinfeld, are you able to watch Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee with all the blocking going on? It's not great, but it does give you some insight into great comedians. The one with Chris Rock is really interesting. Viriditas (talk) 00:44, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

- Yeah, I agree. The editing and cinematography is great, but the scripting and timing is off. Weird, you would think they would put a bit more into the dialogue. Anyway, I never got into Curb, but I'm willing to give it a try. Viriditas (talk) 05:17, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Oh hi I'm new to this and researched over the years breakbeat artists. This guy has a lot of notable work work worth mentioning . A lot just before Internet sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Outmindz (talk • contribs) 22:00, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Outmindz, and welcome. Without verifiable sources, approving an article may be difficult. Can you find anything to show notability for Zak H Laycock? Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:10, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Anna
- Please can you explain to me why Zak h Laycock has not enough significance for an article on Wikipedia. There are lots of less notable people on there . I am new to all this can you help me find a way to get the page back on there. The guidance says that only one reference is needed and there are plenty of references to him all through The Pridugy catalogue.
- Thanks in advamce — Preceding unsigned comment added by Outmindz (talk • contribs) 18:13, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Outmindz. Well, about "...There are lots of less notable people on there...", I must cite: Wikipedia:Otherstuffexists.
- You say only one reference is needed, but where is the guidance that says that?
- Please read WP:GNG. It says that "...If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be suitable for a stand-alone article or list..."
- Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:21, 10 April 2015 (UTC)

- Hi Anna
- It's great to be in touch with you. Re zak h Laycock notable content. I really do feel there is enough there for notability...I see you have added a link to his recent work with the prodigy. There is the other references too including the independent (major newspaper ) article . Do you think the article is now worth publishing on Wikipedia? I hope so them I have success one first contribution? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Outmindz (talk • contribs) 09:07, 10 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Outmindz. None of the references discuss the subject in any detail at all. I really think there is not enough. I am sorry. Way, way more is needed. By the way, do you have a conflict of interest? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:24, 11 April 2015 (UTC)

DYK for Square dancing (China)
On 13 April 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Square dancing (China), which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that many of China's "dancing grannies" (see video) are motivated in part by nostalgia for the dances of the Cultural Revolution during their youth? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Square dancing (China). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |
Can you pose this question for me?
I was about to ask this at Wikipedia:Reference desk/Science, but it’s locked again. Can you just ask a question for me? --66.190.99.112 (talk) 00:49, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
- I'm sorry about the protection of that page. There has been a lot of vandalism there lately. Sure, I can post the question for you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:51, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
- I still don’t see my enquiry posted. --66.190.99.112 (talk) 14:35, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
- I am sorry. You made your question invisible with wiki markup so I did not see it here. At the moment, the page is not protected. Please see if you can post it yourself first, okay? If it is still protected, I guess I can. Are you sure you want to ask that question? :) It is a bit odd. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:14, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
- I’m excessively tardy again. Trust me, I would much prefer posting this myself, but I don’t have a grand quantity of options. Some other lunatic that I have no control over seems disturbingly interested in keeping innocent people from inquisition. One option is to share your Skype username with me, but I don’t know if you’d be comfortable with that. Still, it’s a quick way to keep me alert. --66.190.99.112 (talk) 22:29, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Dear Anna let us work together and write about this gentleman Navid Khiabani, honest to God we are neutral and with your guidance we make a neutral and helpful page 16:22, 16 April 2015 Rim1965
- Hello, @Rim1965, Ahmadreza1342, Remot sam, and Jeanthefact: I should not and will not give guidance or cooperation in the creation of this article right now.
- If you really, really want, your only role should be to gather all of the sources you have and email them to me. No draft, just a list of urls. Take your time. Take months. Find more than you have at the moment. If and only if I reply to that email, it means you have enough reliable sources for this to even be considered. Then, I will pass those sources via email to User:Malik Shabazz, the closing administration of the WP:AfD. If Malik approves, I, or somebody unrelated to you, should create the article. I say this because of your history here at Wikipedia, and, because you are a group, there are meatpuppetry concerns.
- The best plan for your group: You have been looking for sources for years. Many of us have seen your sources. Right now, there are not enough. Unless there is sudden, heavy mainstream media coverage, I doubt very much that an article is possible. If there is, somebody else will likely start the article. I strongly suggest that you and your group forget about using Wikipedia to inform the world about this subject. Find other media. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:42, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Expired PROD on List of most viewed kpop music videos
I'm just letting you know that the article List of most viewed kpop music videos has had a PROD tag on it for more than seven days...could you delete it? Gparyani (talk) 23:27, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Gparyani. I know little about the subject. So, I posted here to let others decide. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:33, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry just putting some input-but also the proposed deletion pages have been backed up for a couple of weeks and sometimes it has taken as much as 10 or 11 days before they are getting deleted so remain calm! Wgolf (talk) 02:37, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
- Um, the rule is that if no one objects to the PROD within seven days, the admin is to delete it immediately (unless the tag was clearly added in bad faith). If someone comes on by and disagrees, it can be restored, no questions asked, at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. (@Wgolf:) Gparyani (talk) 03:00, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
- Yes-but check this out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Expired_proposed_deletions and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Proposed_deletion they are quite backup right now! Its not done automatically. Wgolf (talk) 03:01, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Wgolf: Kinda surprised that that is the case, given that expired BLPPRODs are deleted quite quickly. But yes, the process can be expedited by contacting an admin, which I have done here. Gparyani (talk) 03:03, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
- Exactly, it has been getting very crazy the past few weeks and a couple weeks ago both the blp prods and regular prods were very stacked up and had articles that were nearly 2 weeks old even! Wgolf (talk) 03:04, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Cinechicken edit articles
Hi Anna,
Hope you are well. Thanks for the message. Cinechicken is the largest and the only review aggregation website for Bollywood movies (similar to Rotten Tomatoes). Cinechicken aggregates movie reviews from about 40 major publications around the world in one place and is visited by people from the film industry and fans e.g. http://www.cinechicken.com/Reviews/PK . In the last few days we have added some articles on Wikipedia in the movie reception section of movies but were removed by you. We are doing what rotten tomatoes or imdb do for Hollywood movies and don't intend to spam. Please can you let us know if we are doing anything wrong?

- @PallaviSave: Please remember to properly sign your posts on talk pages. Articles about some entity (like a company, person, or website) that are created by that same entity are generally frowned upon, and if they don't credibly indicate their importance or significance, they are speedily deleted. If your website is really that notable, then more than likely another unaffiliated editor would have written an article about it. Gparyani (talk) 19:27, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

- Sorry, but unfortunately, companies can't create articles for themselves or have them created by request due to our policies against conflict of interest. The best way to have an article created for you is to actually make your companies notable, and then more than likely someone else would have created an article about your company. On User:Ncs424 at Olivia Culpo
Thank you for blocking Ncs424 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) who was edit warring at Olivia Culpo. I wanted to add something about that – there have been multiple different users and IPs at Olivia Culpo who have been doing the exact same disruptive edits (changing her height in the Infobox) for months. I don't know if you have CheckUser capabilities, but my strong recent suspicion (per: WP:DUCK) is that User:Ncs424 is just the latest in a relatively long string of WP:SOCKs to try to disrupt that article. I just figured I should mention this... --IJBall (talk) 01:58, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, IJBall. You may be right. Maybe an SPI is the right path. Can you sort out who did what first? Another course would be to wait and see. This is slow motion, and maybe limited to one article. It may stop, or something new might happen to make all of this easier to address. Thoughts? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:42, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, SPI is the next step, but I didn't have time to prepare a report today. As you say, I now think I will wait to see if it stops here, or if it starts up again. If it does start up again, I think I will put together an SPI report, as I'm pretty sure this is the same individual doing this at Olivia Culpo under multiple accounts... --IJBall (talk) 06:02, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for your block of this IP. I just wanted to point out that it's not an isolated incident, but part of a campaign which has caused me to have all my userspace pages semi'd. You might want to keep an eye out to see what this IP does after the 48 hours are up. Best, BMK (talk) 22:58, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

From Datrufth
Yes, I am offended by your deleting what I had started to write, IT IS AN Encyclopedia - My page was still being edited, I don't have a lot of time to spend writing, if anything I write can be deleted without inquiry as to what the subject matter is about, based upon one individual's limited perspective - then perhaps that is the problem with wikipedia being filled with inaccurate information on many topics. I was giving basic information about myself, beginning with my user name 'datrufth' which is connected to my facebook business page "DUHH - The Department for Understanding Human History" - however because you "jumped-the-gun" and deleted what I had started without inquiry or directive regarding the information - now I don't have a copy of what was on the page. Thanks for nothing - I will probably not use or contribute nor donate to wikipedia anymore because your "judgmental approach to editing" without first making some type of inquiry is (for lack of time and better terminology) totalitarian, prejudicial in perspective, unwarranted without some type of precursor. My personal business information was going to be represented in actuality on the encyclopedia. To my my recollection, an encyclopedia is "a book, set of books, and/or an established media-oriented conduit that enables the free access to information utilized in various formats pertaining to (yet not necessarily limited to) historic, scientific, culture, economic, religious, and social context. My page was not being designed to function in anyway that would violate or interfere with the statement: "Although a lot of leeway is allowed in personalizing your user page, it is not a personal website, blog, or social networking medium, nor should it be used to promote yourself, or host a fake article, CV, or lengthy biography. My statements, that you deleted, on my page began with the historical context of using the term "datrufth" both as an actual word and as a psuedo-name tool to identify myself as the author/source/editor of future postings, articles, including historical fact, and biographic information on actual people; Not to create a blog, or to a "fake-alias" - if all my content can be deleted before I finish then that should have been stated when I signed-on, if I cannot utilize an anonymous user name that also should be stated in plain site without having to waste time either reading pages of rules, or having material deleted by someone who just assumes the page is somehow not valid based on personal prejudice and/or incomplete comprehension of what and how something is being presented. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Datrufth (talk • contribs) 17:49, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Datrufth. Please do not be offended. I am sorry I had to delete it. I deleted it because it was basically a mini-article about a made-up thing. You wrote "Datrufth - a stylized urban phonetic-slang language-use representing..." That could never be an article in the main part of the encyclopedia. And, it has no place at a userpage. If you wish to write about something that can make it into the encyclopedia, try one of these: Wikipedia:Requested articles/Images. The images are there. The subjects are notable. There are good sources out there. I'll even help. Again, I am sorry about your userpage. Please do not be upset. You are very welcome here. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:16, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
Re: your edit to Warren G. Harding
Yeah, that subject has come up quite a bit in recent talk page discussions, see Talk:Warren G. Harding#The Daily Show & Talk:Warren G. Harding#Media portrayals. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 14:16, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Shearonink. I saw that 5-second bit in the episode, so started to watch the Harding page. I never saw the talk discussion. It is long, and I'd like stay out of it. Because I'm not involved in the talk, I'll also stay away from reverting at the article. Cheers, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:21, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
- It sure was a whirlwind of edits/reverts... I just wanted to mention the editorial discussion came up with the solution of Cultural depictions of Warren G. Harding and since the mention of Harding's ghost was just that - a passing 5-second mention in a comedy skit - the present consensus is that a mention does not merit being described as a "cultural depiction". The onslaught of ohwe'reSOfunny edits to Harding's article and to the article about his dog was dispiriting, am glad it has died down. Shearonink (talk) 23:22, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

King Cake
I was just reading about Bal du moulin de la Galette, a painting I really like, which led me to an article on galettes ("In the late 19th century, working class Parisians would dress up and spend time there dancing, drinking, and eating galettes into the evening"), which in turn linked to galette des Roi (King Cake). The article says King Cake is a popular Christmas food item in certain areas. Have you ever had one? The image of the traditional king cake baby is somewhat nightmarish. Viriditas (talk) 01:11, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- They do not let me eat cake. :) And, I would never eat that creepy baby cake anyhow. As that big guy from Curb says, that's a "whole bowl full of wrong". :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:33, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, okay. I get it. The baby is teeny and plastic and you don't eat it. For me, a gingerbread man would be the limit. Any more realistic and it would be odd biting off legs and arms. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:37, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- Do they have any unusual Chinese cakes in Hainan? Viriditas (talk) 21:14, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- FYI...Red tortoise cake lacks an image. Viriditas (talk) 21:28, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- I will look for an image of red tortoise cake.
- Unusual cakes, eh? Well, I once saw a birthday cake for sale with broccoli on top. Cakes try to mimic Western cakes, but they often use that dreadful oil icing. You know the stuff. It makes your mouth feel like you just ate a candle.
- Anyway, as for special Chinese cakes, I just do not know. Like I said, no cake for me.
- A would love to write about some of the indigenous, wild vegetables here. They are great, but how would I find the species names? I will try, maybe. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:54, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- King cake is a longstanding New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition! They are delicious, I have had pieces of many and, no, I have never gotten the baby. I was told by one person that whoever gets the baby has to throw the Mardi Gras party next year but I'm not sure if that is the standard protocol. Liz Read! Talk! 23:11, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Deletion
You can delete anything you wish on my contributions as you feel necessary. my only intention of putting information is to give much information in a given subject, but if you feel that everything I have done was wrong I don't care if you delete it all. And if you think you are smarter than all contributors here, so be it. It seems to me that you have a habit of deleting people's contribution like what you have done to Datrufth that angered him... Thank you AnnAphrodesiac. Jan2366 (talk) 01:11, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, Jan2366.
- I am stunned and a bit annoyed (and I do not stun or annoy easily). My "habit" is not a habit, it is a "duty" of being an administrator.
- I and others have explained that copyright violations are not allowed, not wanted, and not appreciated. In fact, it is against the law. How can you be an editor here, have had that explained to you, and still not understand? Honestly, I question whether or not you are competent enough to edit here.
- In case you do not remember:
- You uploaded 10 images that you do not own.
- You created 2 articles, one of which was an advertisement, and at least one of which was simply copy pasted from a copyrighted source.
- At 5 other articles, you just added large amounts of copy pasted content from news sources. There are probably more out there.
- I asked you for help cleaning up your copyvios. You ignored me and responded with more copyvios. I asked again. You were silent for 3 days so I did the work myself. Two hours later you spoke up here. So, you were watching and ignoring me, right? Again: Please understand that copyright violations are not helpful and not allowed. Do not copy paste content. Do you understand that now? Have I been clear? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 08:26, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

I never faced this type before
I will not do it again.
First two times , i didn't say anything. But then next day, this picture was too much.At that time i was already tensed due to extreme heat during Summer.I normally don't reply to vandalism/offensive comments/personal attacks on my talkpage. I was not able to find out who this guy is: someone who is blocked(No problem) or someone who is doing Good hand-Bad hand(By using proxy IP) and normal IPs to edit WP.
I knew i will get warning from administrators, but I was angry at that time. I could have IP edited to avoid being identified by logging off from my account and abusing him. But I decided to use my account and signon, so that the vandal might get angry and make some mistake which will help me identifying him. He even tried to access my account. (talk) 09:36, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- Zillions of such users arrive at Wikipedia. I often get called terrible things, and my talk page is vandalized. This is about how you handle it. Such editors are beneath you. If a child calls you infantile, do you take it seriously? When a hedge fund manager calls you scum, do you care? Remember who you are as a person and Wikipedian. Rise above it. Respond appropriately. mark defriest page
Hi there -- Im not sure what the protocol to respond to your removal of my content is - can you advise? I work for the documentary film bringing awareness to this issue of prison reform. The pdf you cite was not directly copy and pasted, but heavily edited, though being the facts of a story, of course, read similarly and come from the documentary film, who I work for.
I have permission from the owner of the pdf that i used as my source material. I can cite it if you like but thought it wasnt considered a "source" since it's a pdf of a press release.
Please advise how I can restore the content, I appreciate your help. Thanks, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Narica444 (talk • contribs) 15:06, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, Narica444, and welcome. I am sorry that I had to remove the content. Wikipedia is not allowed to have content that is from a copyrighted source. Plenty of that was closely paraphrased and much was even copy pasted. Moreover, the person who wrote that pdf added "Copyright" to the bottom. Once you added it to the article, it became public domain. I am not sure the owner would want that. If he thinks that is alright, please ask him to remove the "Copyright" from the pdf and replace it with "Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License" (See here.)
- Please feel free to restore the content to Mark DeFriest ensuring that there is no copy pasting or even close paraphrasing. Again, I am sorry that you put in all this work that ended up removed.
- By the way, on May 19, I wrote to all the producers and the director about a photo of Mark for the article. Nobody has replied yet. Do you think you could help with that? We need an image that you own, preferably one that has not been published anywhere before. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:38, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Narica444. I notice that you did not wait for a reply here and have restored the content. I have reverted again and double checked. There are indeed plenty of copyvios. Please do not restore that same content again. It needs to be completely free of copy pasting and close paraphrasing. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:53, 22 May 2015 (UTC)
Hi Anna - are you able to be very specific about the problem? Ive explained that the original page and updated page are the same author - how can we be in violation of ourselves? Is it just that I need to change the copyright on the PDF? As for photos, he is in prison. Original photography isnt as easy to come by though we have used stills from the film. Again, we are all one entity. We wrote the original entry, we wrote the more fleshed out entry and we also authored the PDf - let me know how best to correct this immediately as you know this is an ongoing cause for awareness and every day that this page isnt allowed to be posted in its complete form is a detriment to the reform we are trying to encourage. I responded on your page and am now responding here, please clarify the exact steps to getting the updated page live again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Narica444 (talk • contribs) 18:07, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

- Writing a mostly-positive, credible-looking article about a company that has a lot of "references" that are not really references, combined with sockpuppetry, are telltale signs of paid editing, as was the case with Wiki-PR. Companies trying to promote themselves usually don't try at first to make their article look credible; they just promote. Also, if they are trying to promote themselves, the results of the CU will show it. Gparyani (talk) 03:20, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Was it really necessary for you to butt in and edit my personal page? I was using it as a placeholder for something. I can understand if I was ruining actual articles... but it wasn't. No one is looking at my page (except you I guess?) I think that that was totally uncalled for and I do feel like I'm being run off now. I don't want to give you a hard time, but I do feel like you gave me one, man. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robkaufman (talk • contribs) 15:45, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Robkaufman. I am sorry I had to do that, but I did. I had no idea it was a placeholder. But, may I ask, was it for a Wikipedia article, or something personal. I ask this because you had made it appear like an article about you, complete with your website. If you could please tell me what it was for, then maybe I could restore it. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 20:12, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- It was not for Wikipedia, it was complete fantasy. Not that that is really even an issue, if I had created a fake article with obvious lies, it would be gone immediately. I have no intent of posting a fake article or fake information on Wikipedia. I consider it a hindrance in many ways because it's so much more than strict. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robkaufman (talk • contribs) 23:43, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Robkaufman. If it was not for the encyclopedia and only for your own use, and you are working on it at your userpage, then it cannot be there. This is not a webhosting service. Your edits should have something to do with helping to build the encyclopedia. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:18, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
- You'd probably get more donations if you weren't so uptight. I guess letting someone experiment with wiki codes to better understand them before trying to help edit articles is inappropriate to you. Meddling.
- Hi, Robkaufman. Donations? I think Wikipedia has 20 million bucks they don't know what to do with. And as for experimenting, that is what the WP:SANDBOX is for. So, are you thinking of helping to build the encylopedia? I can help if you want. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:44, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

If they had money to burn, they wouldn't need to beg for donations every month. Not sure I'm as interested in this community now that I see the rude and unnecessary way they treat people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robkaufman (talk • contribs) 20:21, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
Paul Wilson (Actor) page you deleted
Good afternoon,
While I understand your actions, this request for a Paul Wilson (Actor) page was a result of inquires by a movie studio due to Paul's role. He himself actually wrote the bio on imdb, yet that was a placeholder until we received more. Perhaps you can re-consider allowing his actor page. Here are a few links:

- Hello, User:Paul Wilson (Actor). If content is copy pasted from IMDB, regardless of who wrote the IMDB entry, it is not permitted at Wikipedia.
- None of those links above discuss Paul in any detail. I really do not think he can have an article. And of course, a userpage is not place for a lengthy bio. I am sorry. Keep looking for media pieces, though, if you like. Out of curiosity, are you interested in helping to build the encyclopedia without adding any content related to Paul? Sunset on the Horizon
I am responsible for the promotion of Sunset on the Horizon which is a histriography about the maroons it will take a few edits to complete the updated edits. Barnes and Noble and amazon and all other publishers have to come to us for copyright..as we are the writers. Could you please undo the delete we own the copyrright of Sunset on the Horizon...
It took ages to begin the article and it needs a few weeks to format it the correct way with the various headings and themes...it is an anthropological and sociological examination of the maroons of jamaica there is not much on them and i hope you will put the page back...
i do need help to develop the page properly...basically we wish to develop five main themes and link them to the others that are on wikepedia so that people will have a lot more on the maroons....and jamaica and its sociological and economic history... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Granfacubah (talk • contribs) 14:44, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
we want to have an information page for sunset on the horizon which is a detailed article about maroonage and the history of jamaica in terms of the maroons, Nanny Jamaica's national heroine and the pletheora of themes set in the novel. could you pleas undo the delete and tell me how to upload the cover picture of the novel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Granfacubah (talk • contribs) 14:49, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hello Granfacubah, and welcome. I have some concerns:
- You wish to promote the book. Wikipedia is not a place for that.
- You have a conflict of interest.
- Regardless of who has what copyright, part of the text came from here, which says "© 1997-2015 Barnesandnoble.com llc" at the bottom
- Even if you are the copyright owner, we do not know that. Anyone can register an account and say they have the rights to some text. We must protect not only Wikipedia, but the true owner of that text, and we cannot be sure that is you.
- You refer to yourself as "we". How many others operate this User:Granfacubah account?
- Can you show the subject is even notable?
- I trust that you have a copy of the draft on your personal computer, right? I mean, you didn't just type it at Wikipedia without saving a copy, did you? I ask this because I am not allowed to provided you a copy of text that is copyrighted elsewhere. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:10, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, I see you've started Draft:Sunset on the Horizon by H M Hanlan. That seems free of copyright infringements. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:22, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Oops, I forgot that G2 doesn't apply to user pages. Adam9007 (talk) 00:20, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Adam9007. That wasn't my point. No speedy tag should have been placed on that page. A brand new user is allowed to type "This is a test." at their userpage. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:23, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, I was being stupid and got carried away. My apologies. Adam9007 (talk) 00:30, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- No worries. You do good work and I see you making lots of good decisions. Cheers. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:32, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
Just so you know, if a user who posts copyright violations says that they are the copyright owner, official policy states that they are to verify that externally as per Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials, and only then are they allowed to post them here, with the understanding that it may be reused per Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content. Gparyani (talk) 05:17, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- I often tell them that they can simply put a CC notice at the bottom of their webpage to allow it to be used here. That's the gist of the Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials page, right? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:38, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- Sometimes they don't want to. In such cases, there is a procedure outlined on that page that involves contacting the Wikimedia Foundation. Gparyani (talk) 05:58, 8 June 2015 (UTC)
- If they don't want to, and they never do, I do not press them. I just move on. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:18, 8 June 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Nanjing Normal University - logo01.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Could you please decline this disruptive user's unblock request? He's been continuing to engage in disruptive editing, long-term pattern of abuse, and creating "test articles" in userpages of nonexistent users. We've tolerated his behavior for quite a long time, and only now did we block him indefinitely. In addition, he seems to fail to see that blocks are preventative, not punitive, and has made a second request after his first one was declined.
Could you also watch it and see if he tries to appeal once again (he always places it in the wrong place, in the block template itself, then we change it), and revoke his talk page access if he does? Thanks! Gparyani (talk) 07:20, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- I see another admin has handled it. I didn't have time to look into any constructive edits and weigh out the pros and cons. If he requests an unblock again, I will likely be the one to take action. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:07, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
- He has requested (unconstructively) again. Please "be the one to take action". Thanks! Gparyani (talk) 02:49, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- Done. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:25, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- Could you revoke his talk page editing access? He's requested a fourth unblock (again unconstructively). This is standard procedure for users who make too many unconvincing unblock requests (usually three, but sometimes as low as two). Gparyani (talk) 14:44, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

Page draft deletion
Hi there! I've creating two of the same drafts by accident for City Winery - one of which i already submitted for review. Can I delete the remaining draft that I didn't submit?

- Hi Allison. I see no drafts at all. All have been deleted. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 06:25, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- (stalking) I've created City Winery as a redirect to Nevada City Winery which has an article. @Aporifgpr:, if that's the one you were looking for, be bold and expand it. If not (there looks like there's another one in New York City from a quick scan of sources), drop me a line and I'll see what I can cobble together. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:50, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks Ritchie. Nevada is probably one branch. Allison created the NYC draft which was pure advert. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:29, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

PawanAhuja and AfDs
Hi. I saw your note to this user. I think I'm a little bit responsible for the AfDs; I declined a bunch of articles he'd nominated for CSD as unsuitable, he challenged me on my talk just as I was on lunchbreak, so I said "send them to AfD" without taking a closer look. Sorry about that; still, I hope it was a good learning experience. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:34, 10 June 2015 (UTC)
- Ritchie, you have nothing to be sorry about. PawanAhuja, on the other hand, has everything to be sorry about per my comments to him. I wasted probably 20 minutes on that editor. Understandable are editors who are POV, COI, nuts, stupid, et cetera, but this guy? He actually thinks he's helping cleaning out the junk while costing huge editor resources, and having everything he does be reverted every time. Well, maybe he does fit into one or more of those categories. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:29, 10 June 2015 (UTC)

I'm assuming this is the right place to chat about questions?
I'm assuming this is the proper page to chat about questions?
I was just wondering how you can find a variety of company profiles listed in Wikipedia , but remove anyone trying to even add reference links to educational sites on a topic.
I get why my article was deleted as it was a blatant promotion.. But how do companies such as Banc De Binary have a profile on here which has all their company info including their website address? And not just them but many other companies in the industry.
And when I read the articles about Binary Options or Forex it has numerous references to exchanges and brokers which are "For Profit" companies. Is that not an advertisement?
What if someone else I had never met posted an article about my company just for information purposes would that also be deleted?
I'm just trying to understand why it is OK and acceptable under some circumstances but not in others that's all.. Hopefully you can help me understand. I get the no spamming, and no promoting rule. But don't get how some companies are allowed to be used in articles, and even have a complete article on the company while other companies can't.
- I will reply at your talk page. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:48, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

I agree that my article about my company does not fit the guidelines... That is not what I was asking.
I do think that I should be able to add reference note's to articles already discussing binary options which is an industry I provide training and education for.. But that is neither here nor there
My question is How do these other companies have profiles listed here? Did the post them themselves or did other article posters post the articles. I'm just curious.. I'm really not too concerned with advertising my company here. Just wondering how some companies have there names listed in articles, yet some companies can not..— Preceding unsigned comment added by Traderagency (talk • contribs) 01:57, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
- DillonKreider: Other companies are strongly discouraged from creating articles about themselves, but sometimes they do. Why do some have articles and some do not? The answers are here:

- Hi, Homvye Junior Homvye. I deleted it because you basically wrote an article about yourself at your userpage. It could not, as far as I could tell, become an article. I could not find a single search engine hit for "Homvye Junior Homvye" other than Facebook. So, it could not remain at your userpage appearing as an article. Now, if you can find references to support it (see WP:42), I will help you create the article in the mainspace, even though you shouldn't be writing about yourself. Can you find references? Anna, this IP has recently appeared on my radar. It has been active since about January 2014, and since that time, it has made less than 200 contributions. Except for a tiny number, almost all of these edits consist of sneaky vandalism, sneaky POV pushing, sneaky blanking, and sneaky misinformation. Could you take a look and act accordingly? Thanks. Viriditas (talk) 02:47, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- Hmmmm, I may not be the right person for the job. A lot of the sources are books. I'm not familiar with the nature of the articles. Actually, what I'm seeing is the reciprocal of what you are seeing. Is reciprocal the right word? It sounds intelligent anyway. :) After spot-checking a couple of dozen edits, I see what appear to be many constructive edits, a few BLP vios, a bit of obvious vandalism. This is a tricky one. His talk has 4 warnings already, but they are not escalating. I will post at his talk and then let's follow his contribs for a while. If I'm missing something, please provide some diffs.
