Adding sources to prove Osel Tenzin's death from AIDS
I do not understand why proof is being asked, since the material has been on that page since 2006. There has been a great deal of controversy about Osel Tenzin and Chogyam Trunpa Rinpoche and their cult-like organization. Every once in a while, some devotee gets a bee in their bonnet and tries to change the truth. I suspect that's why Cwobeel is insisting on references. I don't know how to do references. I'm 70 years old and barely computer literate. Would you do me the great favor of posting these on the site---I would very much appreciate your assistance with this. Here are the sites, including a book published by Prometheus (a highly reputable publisher) that was written by Nancy and John Steinbeck IV (son of the American author--he and his wife exposed the sordid details to the Boulder newspaper as Tenzin was dying and then wrote about it) that talk about the widely accepted diagnosis of AIDS, which caused Tenzin's death. The reason people want this kept a secret is that Tenzin practiced unprotected sex with his students, which ended up infecting and eventually killing a teenage boy.
Sources:
www.nancysteinbeck.com
http://www.chronicleproject.com/tcs.html (this is an article that appears on the Tenzin-Trungpa's organizations website)
http://www.katybutler.com/publications/commonboundary/index_files/commbound_shadowbuddhistusa_new.htm (this is an article that appeared in Common Boundary magazine, a widely accepted spiritual magazine).
If you need more, I will be happy to supply them.

- @WikiWhip: I'll look into this in a few minutes, and I will help you. Would you give our policies on verifiability a read, please. There you'll find the the reasons to why Cwobeel reverted you, and he did nothing I would not myself have done. Your assumption that Cwobeel should be a devotee seems unfounded. Hang on. Could take me half an hour to get back to you. But I will get back. Thanks. Sam Sailor Sing 16:25, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
- @WikiWhip: Thank you for bringing this up. I have re-added the cause of death to the lead, and added a citation. I have also removed the warning I posted on you talk page, as that was not deserved. My apologies. What I ask you to understand is that adding contentious material without the support of a citation, will very often result in a quick revert from someone patrolling pages, e.g. in this case with WP:STiki. You could argue that the cause of subjects death is already covered further down in the article text. Unfortunately time does not always permit reading the whole article. I'm sorry that you had this experience. Don't take it personally. And if there is anything I can help you with anytime, give me a shout. Best, Sam Sailor Sing 17:02, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi Sam, I provided references. Did you check them before your removed my changes from Tarar page? Thats not nice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kolosinghtarar (talk • contribs) 10:29, 11 July 2014 (UTC)
- @Kolosinghtarar: Please read my edit summary:
"Rv poor writing, dubious sources, MOS violations; most here is a copy from http://www.pagevamp.com/page/tararfamilyworld/about an indisputable non-reliable source."
It's often difficult to write about subjects that one is closely connected to. I notice that you told Sitush in this post that you yourself is a Tarar. You are most welcome to contribute, but it has to be in a dispassionate way using reliable sources. Even if sourced a blurb like"Tarars have many heritable qualities and extinguished features which make them anterior as compared to other Jat tribes."
is not something to copy-paste into an article on Wikipedia. Thanks. Sam Sing! 10:47, 11 July 2014 (UTC)- Hi Sam, I made some changes. Please check the references and let me know if that ok. Look guys i am not trying to be rude just trying to help (Kolosinghtarar (talk) 10:51, 11 July 2014 (UTC)).

Blogs can be used for that. On Wikipedia we are, to put it very simple, somewhat boringly factual when we write. I'll put an invitation to The Wikipedia Adventure on your talk page in a second. Please understand
..that I am a scientific professional with the necessary doctoral level training (and, as well, a background in the ISEF arena) and so qualified to do a first major edit of the Andraka article. The edits that will shortly begin to appear have been the result of days of research and work. The article does indeed have NPOV, OR, VERIFIABLE, and other issues, and other editors that have noted these before should have been give the response AGF requires (and their raised issues thoroughly vetted and not dismissed). Please read the Herper Forbes article and Smithsonian article already cited, in anticipation of my edits. These sources, further research in the secondary literature of in vitro testing for cancer biomarkers in early disease diagnosis, and a fundamental commitment to the sourcing of science that WP demands will be the basis for the edits that appear. Expect bold edits based on my expertise and experience (and a commitment to defend the rigour and objectivity of the edits, as necessary). Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 17:02, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

HIV v AIDS v HIV/AIDS
Sam, perhaps the answer to the edit and reversion at the Ösel Tendzin article is to use (as Wikipedia does in its article), the conjoined "HIV/AIDS". This would allow you to remain true to the cited source, but better fit the scholarship and science (which would maintain that one is infected by a virus, but dies of the disease the virus causes, and not the virus, per se). Splitting hairs, perhaps, but the Wikipedia article title is telling. I'd also like to see that article's lede better reflect the article's content, through the addition of a sentence or two. Cheers. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 18:56, 14 July 2014 (UTC)
- That's Done, Prof, and I feel sure that any hairsplitting in the medical department done by your scalpel is, how shall I put it, to the best anti-alopetic, bulb-stimulating, Minoxidil-forget-about-it benefit content-wise. As for the an expansion of the lead of Ösel Tendzin, I'm not your man, again it's an article I encountered by accident, only this time it was an IP who added the line re HIV/AIDS to the lead, but as it was unsourced, and ... ah, you must have read about it here above on my page! Yes, how would you otherwise know, oh, slow brain of mine ... But, summa summarum, if I can be frank, I don't know the man, and unfortunately don't have the inclination to get to know him. But I will keep the article on my watch page. Sam Sing! 19:51, 14 July 2014 (UTC) P.S. I have the Reviewer flag, and despite my inability to judge medical content a mm above layman level, I'll stick my head out gladly and review ad lib if you need it; based on what I see on your talk page I won't risk decapitation. Hope this can help you get going, in case there's a little delay in you getting Reviewer yourself.
- Appreciate your encouragement. Just reread the Osel Tendzin and Trungpa] Rinpoche stories, simply to understand the world a bit better, and I am deeply, deeply saddened. Cheers, and look forward to the possibility on working one things together. Le Prof Leprof 7272 (talk) 21:49, 14 July 2014 (UTC)

Providence(religious movement)
Hello! This message is for recent editors of the Providence(religious movement) article.
I just wanted to inform you all of some of the changes I was hoping to make to the page! I am actually studying theology, and have been spending a lot of time studying Modern East Asian Christian organizations in particular. You might have noticed the deletion tag I applied to the article--actually I am really new to Wikipedia, I created an account specifically to make edits to this article and am still a bit confused on the whole deletion/editing process ;)
Anyway, I came across this article while I was doing research and found a few discrepancies I thought might be good to address! I know the allegations against this group are quite serious, I was shocked by them, by I think it's important that we get the article right for the academic purposes of the encyclopedia :)
Mainly I just noticed that the article is missing information in a few crucial places, i.e. the details of the trial, an extended discussion of the philosophies of the group, etc. Also, at times the tone does feel a bit hostile--again, as scholars, we should do our best to remain neutral, especially when the topic is highly controversial.
Thank you all for your time, and hope that the article can really be well done!
GIOSCali (talk) 06:08, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
- Hello! Just wanted to say that I began a few of the edits I was mentioning in my earlier post regarding the Providence(religious movement article). I just made a small sample of some of the edits I want to make, namely changes that will make the language of the article neutral. Also, there are a lot of dead links for references and many references in foreign languages-- I will be deleting these and would appreciate some help! Also I think it would be good to include actual information on the trial and the Korean judicial system, as well as Joshua Jung's early background if any can be tracked down.
Thanks, and I'm sure the article will turn out great! ;) — Preceding unsigned comment added by GIOSCali (talk • contribs) 23:41, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

- Hola Taichi. I visited yesterday and again today all the many Wikipedias that user Lorsus and user Bbjalvin have edited on, and have reverted José's removal of your deletion tag. The measure that applies is likely https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Global_locks and have a steward decide what is best to do. But judging from the past José will just continue making new accounts, creating new name variations of his autobiography. If there's anything I can do, let me know. Page Vandalism
Hi,
You have lately considered allowing edits on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premakeerthi_de_Alwis page. Unfortunately, this page has been repeatedly vandalized by the same person who has requested the edits. I am requesting you to not to allow edits by this user who has a history of wikipedia policy violations. He is a confirmed sockpuppet of Wipeouting and was blocked due disruptive edits in addition to many other policy violations. Hi Sam Sailor, I would appreciate if you could provide your unbiased opinion on this issue since you have some knowledge about it. The page [1] has been re-written by admin Obi2canibe including an unsubstantiated criminal accusation. The accusation has been written in a neutral manner but I believe it violates WP:BLPCRIME policy of Wikipedia. I also find it unfair to include such accusation when this murder has been officially investigated and closed. I have reported this on the Biographies of Living People noticeboard [2] and shall be thankful if you could offer your opinion provided you have time.--Ramya20 (talk) 16:42, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Please be careful with templated warnings
Hi. Regarding this warning: please can you not use templated warnings in situations like this. The editor is a newbie and trying their best to make proper edits to the page, which is to be encouraged. The editor is now concerned that they may be blocked for disruptive editing.
I countenance patience, not templated warnings. Work with them, please, not against them. The fact that the editor has invited the discussion in the first place is to be applauded, and their subsequent attempts should be guided appropriately, not warning them harshly. Stephen! - Stephen, I am led to believe that you have not made yourself acquainted with the editing history of the article, the Jung article now merged into Providence, the associated talk pages, dispute resolution discussions, multiple ANI discussions including community decision to block and ban church members, subsequent SPIs, etc. etc. As for the warnings these are both precise and appropriate, and you can take it to ANI if you still believe they are not. As for contents, no we do not encourage repeated additions of policy violating apologetic crap, but since you appear to do so, post your comment on the article talk page where it belongs. Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello Sam Sailor. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Tagging NN bios
Where a new bio article obviously qualifies for A7, like Ashwani mahajan just now, I think it is preferable to use that rather than G11, unless the wording is really over-the-top or the article is trying to sell a book or something. There may be promotional intent, but that is a subjective assessment, and the article author is liable to object that he did not intend promotion, and may suppose that by rewriting the article would become OK. A7 is less subjective. Keep up the good work - WP would soon be in a right mess without the efforts of the new page patrollers! JohnCD (talk) 10:04, 5 December 2014 (UTC)
- John, I can't see the deleted Ashwani mahajan, but you can, and I'll take your word for it. I took his status as (associate?) professor at some university as a credible claim. The G11 tag was motivated by the "article" sounding much like a one-liner copied off LinkedIn, and (if memory serves) had both his personal blog and his Twitter feed in it. But your remarks on wording and intent are insightful, and I'll remember them. Thanks for the comment and the heads-up. Best, Sam Sing! 13:15, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

Vladimír Hirsch
Hello,
Just looked through the Vladimír Hirsch page and noticed the anon IP doing a number of reverts and reinstating a redirect. Considering this in more detail, it appears that this could possibly be the article creator, Jan Blanicky. On the 24 July 2009 he also reverted the name of the country to Czechia. My concern would be that there is a WP:OWN issue going on here. Especially as the anon IP commented on one change 'Doremo, do not delete recent releases' yesterday. I would be keen to hear your opinion as an experienced rollback editor on Wikipedia. Thanks. Karst (talk) 12:48, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
- Karst, I share the your sentiment after having had a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Blanicky/Archive, but there's nothing to file, as there's no socking going on. As for content, naturally we use Czech Republic per COMMONNAME as Doremo correctly points out. Having read Name of the Czech Republic I'm still not sure if I understand the IP's persistence with "Czechia". If the warring continues from any IP let's post a talk page message explaining why he keeps getting reverted. Another thing is the IP's reversion of your redirect of Aghiatrias to Vladimír Hirsch. I went looking for sources for the former, but if they are out there, they are deeply buried, and I doubt it would survive AfD as a standalone article. But as notability does not apply to contents within articles I would like to support the redirect and will go on and re-implement it. Best, Sam Sing! 14:43, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
- Many thanks, yes, the reason for the original merge was the lack of references. After a search, I noticed that Jan Blanický is/was actually Mr. Hirsch's manager (see about section on the page). Karst (talk) 09:40, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Leila (film) should redirect back to Leila and the correct links added to that page (Leila (1996 film), etc). Anything linking to Leila (film) can then be fixed to point to the correct page. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 14:18, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
