Do you remember general director Julius Koritschoner?
Would you like to take a look at my next rough draft? Emil Kahane
My head is spinning: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Emil_Kahane --Virtualiter (talk) 21:54, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Virtualiter -- Thank you for reaching out for help! At present, I'm having trouble sorting through the Emil Kahane draft to understand his importance. It's worth noting that you can also create drafts in the draft space or in your sandbox. There, you can work on an article without it needing to meet various Wikipedia standards. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 22:31, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- ".. but may read better as prose"[1] No! The list format is clearer for understanding the Hine collection.
- Would my next attempt to son Karl[2] be sufficiently relavant? --Virtualiter (talk) 13:02, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, @Virtualiter: I can agree that some of the information may be better in list format. However, it's not clear to me what the current list means. Does "oo" indicate this was one of Koritschoner's wives? If so, there is an error somewhere, given that sources say he only had three wives, not four. Additionally, citations are needed. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 14:17, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- As for the article for Karl: The focus of the Wikipedia article should be on the person the article is about. At present, most of this article is about the family, which doesn't establish why Karl himself is notable according to Wikipedia guidelines. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 14:22, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- In EN:WP i coudn't find this small symbol: ⚭ for marriage
- I'm convinced that Emil is much more important than his son Karl - even if I can't explain how a clerc can buy half a public limited company and then get it back after losing it. But Karl enjoyed more political prominence. --Virtualiter (talk) 15:04, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for clarifying about the marriage symbol. This still raises the question regarding verification. At least two sources indicate Julius had 3 wives, but at present, the family section of the article shows that he had 4 wives without providing citations. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 15:12, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- Herwig Hartner-Hnizdo may have lost track of the 3 marriages mentioned. (geni.com says Else was Mother of Franz Karl Koritschoner and Hans Friedrich Koritschoner https://www.geni.com/people/Else-Koritschoner/6000000017658016357 But that doesn't pass as a source here). What reliable source can we find? --Virtualiter (talk) 15:26, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Virtualiter: Geni itself is not a reliable source because it is user generated. However, if there are any documents included on Geni (e.g., newspaper articles, census statements, etc.), those sources may be reliable. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 16:09, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

[3] Are you typing all this yourself? Hopefully you realize that the source code becomes uneditable with something like that. --Virtualiter (talk) 17:34, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- Virtualiter: I did not type all that myself. I used a tool called ReFill. Can you explain how the source code became uneditable? Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 20:50, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, take a look at this. Because of all the table formatting in the source text, you can no longer see where the story continues. 1166 Bytes is an halfe article!! --Virtualiter (talk) 10:53, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Virtualiter: It looks like the "book" cited there is a collection of essays. Do you know which essay you were citing? If so, the list of authors could be shorter. I tried searching the book for some of the information in the cited sentence but couldn't find the exact essay. Also, it may be helpful to edit using the Visual Editor -- at least sometimes -- to get around cumbersome citations. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 14:58, 12 July 2024 (UTC)
- The article from Raymond Bardeen Ladoo[4]. Serial No. 2142 (as single essay). How could ReFill read the name? But shouldn't it be enough to just give Google Books the page number? --Virtualiter (talk) 16:00, 12 July 2024 (UTC)

Recent BLPPROD of a band
BLPPRODs do not apply to bands, see this discussion. mwwv converse∫edits 17:07, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Mwwv! I had questioned whether a band would be considered a BLP in this case and got a different response elsewhere. Good to know! Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 17:31, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

Novels and WP:BOOKS
I've noticed you add WP:BOOKS banners to articles on fiction books; the scope of the project is explicitly "coverage of non-fiction books on Wikipedia." Considering that I actively remove WP:BOOKS from fiction articles, I feel like we may be running in circles. Could you stop adding them to fiction articles, or if I am inaccurate about the scope could we have a wider discussion about this? PARAKANYAA (talk) 01:19, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

Handball Euro articles
What is your problem with the 2030/32 men's and women's EHF Euro articles? They meet all requirements and in the past, these were already created after the bids were announced. I put these articles in my sandbox for future use so you will always have a problem with it. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 10:57, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Can you provide a link to the articles, ILoveSport2006? Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 14:35, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- 2032 European Women's Handball Championship, 2030 European Women's Handball Championship, 2030 European Men's Handball Championship, 2032 European Men's Handball Championship. All deleted even though they meet requirements. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 14:40, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- @ILoveSport2006: These pages were recreated following a deletion discussion, primarily because it's too soon to create the article: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2032 European Women's Handball Championship, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2030 European Women's Handball Championship, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2030 European Men's Handball Championship, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2032 European Men's Handball Championship. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 16:09, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- That is not what I'm asking. That was back in January. Back then, no official bids were confirmed but in June 2024, the official bids came out and thus, I brought the articles back. So why are they being deleted now? ILoveSport2006 (talk) 16:29, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Explicit, Theleekycauldron, Liz: Would you like to provide input on this since you officially deleted the articles? Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 17:41, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Again, that's not what I am asking. Why did have they been deleted again now? ILoveSport2006 (talk) 23:45, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Significa liberdade @Explicit @Theleekycauldron @Liz Can I have a response? It's has been three days people. Why were my pages deleted when at the same stage of the bidding process in the past (back in 2021 for the 2026/2028 EHF Euro), the articles were already created and validated. So am I not allowed a response from people who probably don't even know what articles I am talking about and or remember that they deleted them? ILoveSport2006 (talk) 21:56, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- I s'pose they're not "substantially identical" if they've passed the bidding stage, although I don't think that addresses the reason for deletion – there's not much to say here, it's too early. I'm happy to restore it and someone can take it to AfD, I guess? theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 22:10, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Theleekycauldron Can you do that please? I would really appreciate it.
- People have started editing those pages probably thinking this would continue to exist.
- @Significa liberdade deleted it saying that it needs to be speedily deleted because it was a article that had already been deleted prior (or something along the lines of that. But before the articles are inevitably deleted because when I contest it, my voice doesn't matter, I copy them all for future use when more info comes out so @Significa liberdade will always have a problem with them if that's his problem with the articles.
- So when the official bids came out in June, I brought back the pages and I think they were 100% wrongfully deleted. I could understand the deletion a bit more in January 2024, but since then, with the official bids being known, they shouldn't have been deleted again. ILoveSport2006 (talk) 22:38, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- ILoveSport2006: As I note, I did not delete the articles. I nominated them for speedy deletion, and then one of the editors I named above actually deleted the articles. Articles previously deleted via discussion may be tagged for speedy deletion, but then not deleted because they are significantly different from the previous article or enough has changed. For example, there may be a deletion discussion about an actor early in their career where the community decides the person is not notable enough for Wikipedia's standards. A few years later, another editor may create a new page, and an editor like myself might see the page was deletion via discussion and tag is for speedy deletion. Then another editor with special privileges might look at the article and say, "This actor has received much more media coverage than the last discussion, so I reject the speedy deletion." In the case of the handball articles, it's up to that editor to determine if the new article has enough sources and is different enough from the previous articles to determine it is no longer too soon for the articles. Does that make sense? Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 23:06, 23 August 2024 (UTC)
- I've undeleted the two I deleted. Someone else is welcome to take them to AfD if they want to. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 07:04, 24 August 2024 (UTC)

- Hi, @Robina Fox: Thanks for adding those sources! However, when adding sources to an article, please make sure the sources are reliable, independent, and provide significant coverage of the subject. This is how notability is established. - Hi, Cenderabird: We typically don't ban user simply because they lack writing skills as they can contribute to Wikipedia in multiple ways beyond writing, such as by adding citations. Further, pages can be tagged to note there are grammatical issues, which another editor can address without necessary creating the content. If you think this editor is otherwise engaging in question able behaviour, I recommend checking out Wikipedia's article about bans. - Generalissima (submissions) with 1,150 points, mostly from 3 featured articles, 2 featured lists, 7 good articles, and 13 did you know nominations;
- Arconning (submissions) with 791 points, mostly from 2 featured lists, 8 good articles, 4 did you know nominations, and plenty of reviews;
- AirshipJungleman29 (submissions) with 718 points, mostly from a high-multiplier featured article on Genghis Khan and 2 good articles; and
- BennyOnTheLoose (submissions) with 714 points, mostly from 1 featured article on Susanna Hoffs, 2 featured lists, and 3 good articles.
Congratulations to our eight finalists and all who participated. Contestants put in extraordinary amounts of effort during this round, and their scores can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 36 featured articles, 55 featured lists, 15 good articles, 93 in the news credits, and at least 333 did you know credits. They have conducted 357 featured content reviews, as well as 553 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 30 articles to featured topics and good topics.
Any content promoted after 29 August but before the start of Round 5 can be claimed during Round 5, which starts on 1 September at 00:00 (UTC). Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember to claim your points within 14 days of earning them, and importantly, before the deadline on 31 October.

RfA nomination?
Hey there, Significa liberdade! Clovermoss and I have been working together to find users who would make great candidates at RfA and great admins – I was a little surprised to see your name on the list, because I thought you were an admin already! I've seen your name around a bunch, with only positive impressions. You have a great content record, do lots of work in admin-like spaces, and seeing the way you handled this thread on your talk only convinced me more. If you're interested in becoming an admin, let me know! We can talk more here, or you can find me on email or Discord (same username). thanks :) theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 21:00, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, @Theleekycauldron (and Clovermoss)! Thank you for the kind words! I mainly haven't considered RfA because I'm not sure how I would use any of the additional privileges given my current strengths, background, interests, etc. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 21:23, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- You might find my approach to this in my RfA interesting because I also didn't have a strong "need" for the tools. I genuinely believe that a few more people pitching in where they can is good but I also understand completely if the RfA process itself makes you hesitant. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 21:33, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- Seconded – we could always use more admins who are willing to help out wherever they can. If you're looking for a place to get comfortable with the tools, I think you could put your experience at CSD and AfD to good use dealing with other people's nominations :) from there, you can branch out! theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 21:56, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

Tim Bowden
I see you have "Books: removed primary refs" from the article on Tim Bowden. It would be helpful if you point me to the guideline that specifies this should be the case. Oronsay (talk) 01:52, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Oronsay! Thanks for reaching out with your question. For the Tim Bowden article, I removed the references in the book section and replaced the name of the book with {{citation}}/{{cite book}}. As such, the full reference for each book is there, but it doesn't show up as an in-text citation. I don't know if there is a specific policy about this, but it is common practice for articles relating to authors. Feel free to revert if you find policy or think it's better off the other way. =) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 02:10, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your prompt reply. On reflection, it looks better now. Oronsay (talk) 03:06, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
- The ISBN format can be very difficult to access info compared to Trove entries where internally the trove link has much more reader friendly information: an exmaple might be McCrae, Hugh; McCrae, Hugh, 1876-1958. Poems. Selections (1911), Satyrs and sunlight (Second ed.), Thomas C. Lothian, retrieved 8 September 2024
{{citation}}
: CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link) CS1 maint: numeric names: authors list (link) the url to the trove work id is identified - the book is a long time before ISBNs - the Tim items have no url included only ISBN. I am adding this as FYI and have no intention to edit the item further at this stage, I am not 100% sure that Trove entry ISBN is a default option compared to the pre-ISBN items. Apologies to the intrusion on this subject. JarrahTree 12:23, 9 September 2024 (UTC)- Thanks for your input, JarrahTree! We can certainly add the Trove link to the bibliography reference. - very kind of you to respond that way - I thought I was having a true senior moment - maybe my lack of getting a hang of ISBN stuff, then was having trouble of properly identfiying the correct work/xxxx number was causing further stress about the issue... sigh... NPOV
I fail to see how an article about the family of three Japanese Prime Ministers is not notable per WP:NPOV. There are articles about notable political families such as the Kennedy family or Udall family. The article does need expansion, not removal. --Plumber (talk) 21:33, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Plumber! Thanks for reaching out with your concern. The article for the Satō–Kishi–Abe family has not been removed from Wikipedia; rather, it have been moved into the draft space, where you and others can continue working on it. It was moved to the draft space because it only used a single source. If you look at the other articles you mentioned (i.e., about the Kennedys and the Udalls), you'll notice that they have many sources to highlight the families' notability. As an autoconfirmed user, you may move the Satō–Kishi–Abe family article back into the main space if you object to the draftification, though I would suggest adding at least 1-2 more sources before doing so. Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 01:33, 8 September 2024 (UTC)

Shafeev Award and Fojtik Henglein Award
I saw that you had declined and requested revdel on Draft:Shafeev Award, which was created by the author of Draft:Fojtik Henglein Prize, an article that has most certainly the same issues that I foolishly accepted a day or two again. Appreciate if you could take a look at it quickly and see if there's anything else I missed since it's very similar. Thank you, Reconrabbit 23:33, 12 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Reconrabbit! I haven't been able to check for similarities through Earwig while it's searching the internet. However, checking against the cited sources doesn't seem to bring anything up, and neither does a more general Google search. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 00:29, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

adele bloch-bauer 1 revertion
hi, i can see why those categories were reverted, but just so you know why i put them there - the painting was featured in the movie 'woman in gold' with helen mirren so i put them there because of the fact the movie centers around that whole story and painting - but perhaps that is stretching it. sometimes i don't know if categories are being stretched unreasonably, i didn't view it that way but i can see why you did. let me know your thoughts so i can learn from it thx Gregorcollins (talk) 17:22, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, Gregorcollins! Thank you for reaching out with your question. Looking at the Adele Bloch-Bauer article, it appears that Cmr08 deleted several categories specifically related to the film. I understand that it can sometimes be confusing to know the boundaries of how to categorize something. Categories are specifically used for people trying to find similar information. For example, if I wanted to learn about American presidents, I could go to the category Presidents of the United States. It would probably be confusing if, in that list, I saw Bill Burr and Dennis Quaid alongside George Washington and Barack Obama, even though Burr and Quaid have played presidents in films. Similarly, if someone is interested in films scored by Hans Zimmer, they would likely be confused if they saw Adele Bloch-Bauer. I hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have further questions. :) Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 17:35, 20 September 2024 (UTC)

- I haven't been online since yesterday, so I only got this notice now. I'm sorry if I caused any problems, but as far as I knew those categories were not ones that the article about a person should be in. I should have left more than an edit summary. I was actually just about to remove the categories that didn't belong from Issa Ibrahim that same editor added, but I'll leave a talk page message instead. Cmr08 (talk) 02:51, 22 September 2024 (UTC)

Though I am in the opposition, the result of the RfA is clear enough, with but a few hours left (and I strongly doubt I can jinx it), and I extend my congratulations in advance on getting the mop. I'll admit that I'm still uncomfortable with some of your draftifications and AfDs, but I hope you'll take the advice there on board and be a great sysop. And I'm sorry if my opposition caused you discomfort, or came across as too negative or brusque: I know that negative comments at a stressful forum like RfA can go down badly with the candidates. As such, your friendly and respectful demeanor, especially with the opposers, amidst all the stress of the RfA, impressed me greatly. All in all, I wish you the best in your future work as an editor as well as a sysop. I expect you'll do well enough too. JavaHurricane 16:55, 21 September 2024 (UTC)

About your comments on my talk page
What did you mean by “provides evidence to the contrary”, and how could I improve my mentorship responses? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 01:28, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, AirshipJungleman29: Thanks for asking! Based on my reading, some of your responses on your talk page come across passive aggressive, such as your response to an arbitration notification. Although you may have disagreed with this case being brought to arbitration--found it silly even!--you can respond to the situation in a more civil manner.
- As for the mentorship responses, I find them to be quite curt, and at times, can read as though you are annoyed. For example, when Luyabd asked about how to create an article, you responded, "The links on your talk page might be helpful." This is true; the links are available on their talk page. However, such a response can come off as rude, especially because tone of voice, gestures, etc. aren't available via text. When working with newbies, it's important to make the Wikipedia environment seem as friendly and inviting as possible. During mentorship, this can mean encouraging them to ask questions. I also find it valuable to have a response answer the question more directly so the user doesn't click around and go somewhere else to find a quick answer to their question.
- I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any follow-up questions, comments, and/or concerns. :) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 01:48, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hmm. I can see the mentorship thing and will work on that, but I would have thought WP:PACT would apply to an editor using LLMs to deny AI generation. If those are the standards required it's definitely a good thing this is going the way it is. Anyway, thanks very much for your honesty and quick response, and I'll see you around. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 01:56, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- AirshipJungleman29: To my understanding, PACT indicates that there are times when it's understandable to not AGF. There are many ways to respond to incredulous behaviour from other editors, including not responding. In a situation like the one mentioned, people in arbitration may clearly see the other editor as in the wrong without you ever having to say a word. However, your response to others reflects on you. As an admin, it's expected that people will get upset with you for many reasonable behaviours, such as deleting their copy-paste article. It's also often expected that you will de-escalate the situation (unless a block is required, in which case don't feed the trolls). Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 02:15, 27 September 2024 (UTC)

Baton and admin elections
Hi, Significa liberdade, congratulations on your successful RfA! I still have a question about the baton.
If a candidate elected under WP:AELECT passes, will you be passing your baton to them, or do you think that baton passing should only be for RfA admins, not AELECT admins? It is sorry to see that you will not be passing your baton to AirshipJungleman29. GTrang (talk) 14:21, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- This is a great question. We may want to discuss at WT:BATON. My instinct is to give everyone elected a baton and one of them volunteers to be the one to pass it on after the next RFA or election. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 14:25, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – October 2024
News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2024).
- Administrator elections are a proposed new process for selecting administrators, offering an alternative to requests for adminship (RfA). The first trial election will take place in October 2024, with candidate sign-up from October 8 to 14, a discussion phase from October 22 to 24, and SecurePoll voting from October 25 to 31. For questions or to help out, please visit the talk page at Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections.
- Following a discussion, the speedy deletion reason "File pages without a corresponding file" has been moved from criterion G8 to F2. This does not change what can be speedily deleted.
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether there is a consensus to have an administrator recall process.
- The arbitration case Historical elections has been closed.
- An arbitration case regarding Backlash to diversity and inclusion has been opened.
- Editors are invited to nominate themselves to serve on the 2024 Arbitration Committee Electoral Commission until 23:59 October 8, 2024 (UTC).
- If you are interested in stopping spammers, please put MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist and MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist on your watchlist, and help out when you can.
