Orphaned non-free media (File:Holy Cross School, Bokaro visual identification.png)
Thanks for uploading File:Holy Cross School, Bokaro visual identification.png. Jee Aaian Nu notability
Hello there! As you are experienced user I would like to ask of how this article is to be properly deleted according to procedures. It is not notable I believe and it's author User:itar buttar, is attacking and personally abusing me by calling me a non-punjabi. He does this in pa.wiki to people who are against him making the language strongly holding Arabic and Persian words. I am unable to put up with his abuse of me, he does not even know me personally and I'm not going to publish my origin and family tree on Wikipedia to prove anything. Please could you help me regarding this matter, I shall be greatful. --SoniaSingh04 (talk) 17:04, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- @SoniaSingh04:, someone has contested the PROD. You have to take it to Article for Deletion. When the PROD tag will be removed, take it to WP:AFD. You can do it easily using Twinkle Tito☸Dutta 21:45, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Sister Christine
Hello! Your submission of Sister Christine at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! - In Bartaman Bharat, the concluding paragraph needs to be paraphrased from this reference [1] which is in Bengali language. I am not conversant in Bengali. Pl do the needful, as in another reference, I have added that the conlcluding part of the essay is a“standard college or high school text".--Nvvchar. 01:32, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
DYK, yes, but a hook with quotations. You can add the Upanishads slokas if you can find a reference. I will be starting article Vivekananda in California and similar ones could be started for Chicago and New York also. Vivekananda House, South Pasadena, CA img could be used if the license tag issue is resolved. I wanted to go there today but got stuck at Huntington Beach.--Nvvchar. 04:08, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
I have also addressed some issues raised by Bloomoonstone. But you have also taken care of the issues. Thanks. I hope it is now OK for approval to move to que. Yes, I will nominate Swami Vivekananda on GA tomorrow. I am very tired today.--Nvvchar. 05:09, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Darn, Nvvchar took out "plump". A much better hook would have been, "...that Indian Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda urged Sister Christine (pictured) to become plump." You have to admit that it would get more views with that hook. :) Bgwhite (talk) 05:31, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- In the article on Swami Vivekananda I have added some more text from our recent articles and also reformatted some of the references to bring uniformity. Please see if you wish to add in more text or imgs before I nominate it for GA.--Nvvchar. 19:06, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Article request: Hamtramck, Michigan
Tito,
Are you interested in starting a Bengali stub on en:Hamtramck, Michigan? It has a large Bengali population that has moved in from Queens, New York.
Thanks, WhisperToMe (talk) 23:08, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hello @WhisperToMe:, I'll start the article in next 2 days. But, can you please provide me the Bengali spelling (else I'll crate with my own understanding)? ---Tito☸Dutta 00:11, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you! I'll see if I can find it. There has to be a Bengali language newspaper that mentions it... WhisperToMe (talk) 01:29, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
I think I found one. I think it's "হেমট্রামিক" At the bottom of http://miprobashi.com/index.php/about-us/news/243-eid-jamat-schedule-at-hamtramck-michigan - I see the string "২) Masjid Al-Isla Islamick Center 2733 Caniff Hamtramck MI 48212 313-365-9000(মসজিদ আল ইসলার) ঈদের নামাজ হেমট্রামিক স্টেডিয়ামে সকাল ৯ টা ৩০ মিনিটে। যদি বৃষ্টি হয় তাহলে মসজিদে ২ টি জামাত অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। ১ম জামাত সকাল ৮ টা ৩০ মিনিটে ২য় জামাত সকাল ৯ টা ৩০ মিনিটে অনুষ্টিত হবে।" WhisperToMe (talk) 02:57, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Is it alright if you do en:Hamtramck Public Schools as well? I can check to see if the Bengali newspapers mention that district. WhisperToMe (talk) 03:43, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- That's fine. Thank you! I'm hoping they will attracted Michigan-based Bengali-speakers to the Bengali Wikipedia. WhisperToMe (talk) 03:47, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
I started a section on the Bengali people living in Hamtramck: Hamtramck#Bengali_people - If you want you can take that material and put it in the Bengali article. WhisperToMe (talk) 04:33, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you! I'll start the requested article sometime this evening Houston time :) - If you want another one to start after the Hamtramck school system, there is en:Astoria, Queens. A lot of the Bengali people in Hamtramck were originally in Astoria but moved to Michigan because it was cheaper. WhisperToMe (talk) 15:23, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
Nachuk Tahate Shyama
Is there an alternate spelling for "Nachuk Tahate Shyama"? I tried searching Google Scholar, Google News, and Google Books but unfortunately I found nothing.
WhisperToMe (talk) 16:22, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hello @WhisperToMe:, the spelling is fine, please use these sources and these sources. Write a substance after reading the poem. --Tito☸Dutta 22:53, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for finding these! How do you write "Nachuk Tahate Shyama" in Bengali? WhisperToMe (talk) 00:13, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- ::sad:: I asked you to follow Kali the Mother or To the Fourth of July. Refs in Harvnb format, it seems I have to rewrite everything there. Please write the theme section at least. --Tito☸Dutta 00:20, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- I can rewrite the ref format. As for the structure of the other two I can just reorganize everything so it fits the format. At this time I hadn't found a lot of info on the poem. Also, where may I read the poem itself? WhisperToMe (talk) 00:24, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- It seems like a slight reorganization did the trick. I found some info on the theme but it's incomplete since I haven't read all of the preview. I'll have to see if I can "preview" the rest of the sentence. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:27, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- If you please read the "full message" at User_talk:WhisperToMe#Articles, you'll get source, Wikisource links, suggested format etc. Content/theme is most important, I can fix those Harvnb refs and restructure etc. --Tito☸Dutta 00:29, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- And by theme I meant "substance" read the poem and write few lines on it. We'll directly cite the poem. I'll handle critics comments too. --Tito☸Dutta 00:32, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oops, I overlooked the link you sent. Since it's a long poem, does this mean I should just include portions of the poem that the literary critics mention? I know some directly talk about the end portion. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:36, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

Swami Vivekananda DYK effort
Hi, thanks for the message on my talkpage about the Swami Vivekananda DYK effort. It sounds like a wonderful effort, it's great that you're doing it! I'm pretty swamped with "real life" stuff through at least the middle of next week but if things lighten up after that I'll peek and see if I can do a review or two. Best -- Presearch (talk) 22:09, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- No, review not needed. Actually 1 article writing/copyedit is required. --Tito☸Dutta 22:16, 9 September 2013 (UTC)
- The version Monastic vows of Narendranath Datta and other disciples of Ramakrishna (1887) is good. It could be shortened to Ramakrishna’s (1887) sanyasi vows to Narendranath Datta and others or Ramakrishna’s (1887) Initiation vows to Narendranath Datta and others. I will be returning to India tomarrow night and will be able to edit on 13th only.--Nvvchar. 02:54, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
I mean Ramakrishna gave Diksha to Narendranath Datta and others. Poetry is not one of my preferred subject. Any way I will try. If I get time tomorrow I will do the Los Angeles article otherwise on my return to Delhi/Bangalore on 13th. --Nvvchar. 04:51, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
Can you do an English trasliteration of the Sanskrit sloka under worship section of Nag Panchami? You may like to add and edit. I have to nominate it tomorrow.--Nvvchar. 05:04, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
You may like do both.--Nvvchar. 05:13, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

Sister Christine DYK issue
Tito, I'm sorry to have to write you like this, but I just took a look at the Sister Christine DYK hook currently in the lead spot of Prep 1. I initially wasn't thrilled with the wording—I thought that "considered Sister Christine as his foster daughter" didn't read well, and thought to change "as" to "to be", but I wanted to be sure that the revision would accurately reflect the sources. The article uses "regarded" rather than "considered", which I thought might be an alternate approach, so I checked the FN3 source, the Shack article in the Sri Sarada newsletter. To my shock, the word "foster" is never used. There is no evidence here that he did consider her a foster daughter. What this source does is quote Mary Louise Burke, who says if anyone was Vivekananda's daughter, Burke thinks it was Christine. Not at all the same thing. (There's that "if", which is very far from definite.) FN2, the Gallagher source, says that Vivekananda and Christine "established a close, father-daughter style relationship", but that's not a foster daughter either.
I don't have any option but to pull the hook, which I have just done. The "Foster bond" section's use of the statement by Burke (who I just realized has been misspelled "Furke" in the article) is not adequate to support the extraordinary assertion that Vivekananda actually considered Christine to be his foster daughter. You might be able to construct a new hook that uses the Gallagher "father-daughter style relationship". Perhaps something like ... that Indian Hindu monk Swami Vivekananda and his disciple Sister Christine (pictured) were said to have a "close, father-daughter style relationship"? If so, you'd need to quote that particular wording and source it. If not, there might be other hooks and approaches you could use. Best of luck. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:51, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- Tito, I'm willing to work with you on this, but I have to log off soon: I have a medical appointment in the morning. You'll need to come up with a revised hook, and I'd very much appreciate the sentence from the book that states that he regarded her as a daughter, since that is the key to the hook.
- Incidentally, I removed Burke/Furke and her quote from the article. It was hedged around with qualifiers, but more important, there is no indication that she was not a contemporary of Vivekananda or Christine; she is actually Sister Gargi, birth name Marie (not Mary) Louise Burke, who wasn't born until ten years after Vivekananda died. I had assumed she was a contemporary of the two; the fact that the source allows this misleading impression to stand (and gets the first name wrong and doesn't mention "Sister Gargi") is not encouraging. If you want to restore it, be sure to add the Sister Gargi link, and note that it's the opinion of someone who wasn't there and is probably guessing. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:54, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
Article on Dutta requires referenced information
Hello TitoDutta, the content of this article is totally unreferenced. I don't understand, why it should not be replaced by sourced information. It's not about two books, as you have mentioned on my Talk Page. The statements I had incorporated, especially the second one, are a result of discussions among active editors on related topics and consensus amongst them. Obviously, these referenced statements are related to Bengali Duttas only, and the other parts of the article needs to be taken care of separately. Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 10:05, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- Who are the editors? Where is the consensus/discussion? And most importantly, I checked the pages you referred in your citations but could not find anything. Show the exact portions which support the statements you are adding. --Tito☸Dutta 10:12, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- In addition, a minor issue, give the exact page link of Google books (if preview is available). Use the tool Yogesh has suggested in your talk page. --Tito☸Dutta 10:14, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- You may check Talk:Kayastha page for one such discussions. Anyway, it is unfortunate that you could not view from the reference link. Kindly check this page 115 and this page 269, and revert back. Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 10:36, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I manually read those pages, I can not see any direct mention of Dutta. And we should not interpret other sources (eg, few sources claim Duttas are Kayasthas, so, this source is applicable there). --Tito☸Dutta 10:42, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- It is categorically written on Page 115 (Tej Ram Sharma) 1st new para - "The names of brahmanas occuring in our inscriptions sometimes end in a non-brahmanic cognomen such as Bhatta, Datta and Kunda, etc., which are available in the inscriptions of Bengal. Surnames like Datta, Dama, Palita, Pala, Kunda (Kundu), Dasa, Naga and Nandin are now confined to Kayasthas of Bengal but not to brahmanas." And if you can spare more time, you may check this Pages 58-59 under 'Names of Kayasthas', where the Kayasthas named Dutta/Datta are mentioned, namely Devadatta, Naradatta and Vinayadatta (actually more Dattas are there under other sections). Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 11:06, 10 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, found it and self reverted. --Tito☸Dutta 11:08, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

DYK for Swami Vivekananda (film)
On 11 September 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Swami Vivekananda (film), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Mithun Chakraborty (pictured) won the National Film Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for his portrayal of Ramakrishna in the 1998 film Swami Vivekananda? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Swami Vivekananda (film). You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. Re:copyedit, expansion
The next DYK is on 26 September so I have 10-15 days to go but I see the synopsis section is already compiled so do I have to work on it, why was Sister Christine overturned? Was it because of the hook or was there a grammar problem? Anyway I saw Mithun-da on Main page so was a bit relieved. I am still in confusion regarding these two. Please clarify my concerns. Sohambanerjee1998 12:11, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
We are currently running a study on the effects of adding additional information to SuggestBot's suggestions. Participation in the study is voluntary. Should you wish to not participate in the study, or have questions or concerns, you can find contact information on the SuggestBot study page.
IMPORTANT CHANGES: We have modified the selection of articles SuggestBot suggests and altered the design to incorporate more information about the articles, as described in this explanation.
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information.
Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions
We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
- Views/Day
- Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
- Quality
- Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:
- Content
- Is more content needed?
- Headings
- Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
- Images
- Is the number of illustrative images about right?
- Links
- Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
- Sources
- For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please let us know on SuggestBot's talk page. Regards from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker. -- SuggestBot (talk) 00:16, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

One interesting thing is that on the Bengali Wikipedia the notability of Hamtramck Public Schools (another editor started it) has been confirmed. But there are concerns on whether the article sounds promotional, so the editor who wrote it said he did it as a straight translation of text I wrote in English. If you are interested, please check the content to see if it's written normally or if it's written in promotion-style language.

- To cite Harv refs do these things (easiest process)
- Cut the URL of the book page you want to cite and paste here, click on "Load"
- See an example result. Now from the boxes change the date to year, i.e. in this example change "1 January 1998" to "1998", remove "Page number", remove access dates, and change the author's name to last–first format clicking on "or".
- Now, click on "make citation" and copy the code between ref tags, in this example the code will be {{cite book|last=Bharathi|first=K. S.|title=Encyclopaedia of Eminent Thinkers|url=http://books.google.com/books?id=ADEddk9V9w0C&pg=PA24|year=1998|publisher=Concept Publishing Company|isbn=978-81-7022-709-0}}
- In the bibliography/sources section add this code
- And wherever you want to cite, cite using this format <ref name="ref name">{{Harvnb|last name of author|year of publishing|p=page}}</ref>. In the example, the citing code will be <ref name="Bharathi 1998 p 24">{{Harvnb|Bharathi|1998|p=24}}</ref> If there is more than one page use pp=
- You'll get some more details here. Note, we generally use Harvnb templates for Books only. If you give me the URL of the book you want to cite, I can show you using that example too.
- Do not worry about mistakes, or if you see the Harvnb ref is not working (you are clicking on it, but, not going anywhere), I'll fix everything later.
- And if for any particular reference you are unsure that how to cite, just write it in the bracket like A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho..[URL ref]], I'll convert it to Harvnb.
- Let me know if you have any question.--Tito☸Dutta 03:46, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- I didn't know about that. Thank you! I'll let you know if I run into something. WhisperToMe (talk) 07:49, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Namàste my dear Titodutta, I just made this little surprise for you. I tell you your little help, beacuse Wikidata gave error to put hte pahe, why? I put the link as old manner but I think you will be able to put it in Wikidata, ok?
And more, our dear friend Krepideia judica causam tuam, gave a great help and work to the Italian page, see it.
Have a nice week end!

Reverting edits in Rabindranath Tagore
I see your point but how on earth can you tell that my edit was a piece of vandalism? Those were comments between Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore, and I don't really see any kind of vandalism to exist in those comments. Please let me know the reason why you consider that as vandalism. — ITeachThem (talk) 9:07, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- that is a twinkle message, i have replaced it with another one. you were continuously adding content in unencyclopedic way, edit warring from two different accounts ignoring other editors' suggestive, did not respond at the article's talk page, and ignored their message too. You apparently don't know how to edit Wikipedia (which is not an issue, everyone was a newbie someday), but, the unfortunate point is, you are not showing interest to learn. --Tito☸Dutta 09:24, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Vivekananda in California
You may like to take it from here.User:Nvvchar/sandbox/Vivekananda in California. I will add to Prof.John Henry Wright tomorrow. --Nvvchar. 17:38, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Dont' add any table as it would not be counted to 5x expansion. Present it in a text format. I will see if I can add more on John Henry Wright today after completing the Los Angeles article and the North California Vednatah Society.--Nvvchar. 02:10, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
I have also added more text to User:Nvvchar/sandbox/Vivekananda in California from the PDF document. In the User:Titodutta/Vedanta Society of Northern California the first para after the lead is not cited and the referencing by the first user editing it is confusing. Pl change it to uniform sfn format. GA nomination for Swami Vivekananda needs more text from the new article we have done now. User:Titodutta/Vedanta Society of Northern California is not a good idea as it will invite too many users which would create editing problems. Sister Christine needs more text for nominating to GA. Alasinga Perumal can be expanded. I have asked my sister-in-law to send me the book which she has. He was her grand father.--Nvvchar. 04:32, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
John Henry Wright done.--Nvvchar. 15:33, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
DYK for Sister Christine
On 15 September 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Sister Christine, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Sister Christine (pictured) said that Swami Vivekananda's mere uttering of the word "India" stirred emotions of "love, passion, pride, longing, adoration, tragedy, chivalry, heimweh, and again love"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Sister Christine. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Fatehur violence
Thanks for your help. As the editor who created the article doesn't understand our copyvio policy, is there any chance there is direct translation from the sources in the article? Dougweller (talk) 08:15, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- No that is not word to word or machine translation. -- Tito☸Dutta08:42, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

Namàste, dearest Tito, how are you? Our friend Krepideia judica causam tuam added lot of news about Sorella Christina. he made a great work, and says to us:
- Grazie a voi! --Krepideia judica causam tuam 14:07, 15 set 2013 (CEST)
Grazie a voi means Thanks everybody, but the message is for you!!! Se you soon. Rei Momo (talk) 15:22, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- Rei, please try the WP:DYK of the Italian Wikipedia. --Tito☸Dutta 15:25, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
I respect you a lot, but wish to advise caution about WP:ADHOM at an AFD. The best way to shows a nom's error is to improve articles and show others that WP:WIP, WP:IMPERFECT, WP:IMPROVE, and WP:ATD are better ways to build an encyclopedia than his quoting an essay in order to keep it from growing. Pertty much, if National Institute of Fashion Technology Ludhiana has more context and sourcing, even in the face of WP:NOTCLEANUP, it will be a snow keep. Schmidt, Michael Q. 02:18, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, I added sources on notability and comments on TOOSOON too. I have not got a chance to revisit the AFD, I'll do it soon. --Tito☸Dutta 09:44, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
Namàste, my dearest Tito, watch this page, please... And don't worry, because it will be corrected from my French Wikipedian Family!!!

My translation
Mr. Tito Dutta, I have not saved the writing which I just typed directly traslating from Bengali to English in wikipedia. So, when you deleted it, it is totally lost now (unless you have saved it). I have also no written form of it in papers. So, now writing it again is a little difficult for me. Possibly, I will not add it anymore. This addition was sourced from the Pratidin newspaper's Sunday supplement magazine dated 01st September, 2013, published from Kolkata by B.L. Publication Private Limited, 20 Prafulla Sarkar Street, Kolkata-700 072. ---Akaashh Galaxy, Kolkata, 16.09.2013 on "Prostitution in Kolkata". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Akaashh Galaxy (talk • contribs) 04:31, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, those are saved. Don't worry. Nothing is lost here. Reply will be at your talk page. --Tito☸Dutta 04:37, 16 September 2013 (UTC)
