Proposed deletion of 2023 Big Matches

The article 2023 Big Matches has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Matches fail WP:GNG and we are not an indiscriminate collection of Sri Lankan school matches, with this page violating WP:NOTSTATS.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I can see that you have conveniently deleted select content from the page Chennai Super Kings in the name of "clean-up" without any due reason. Please provide appropriate and suitable comments when you do the same.

Also, as per MOS:IMGSIZE, it is not a good practice to specify a fixed width of an image in pixels unless with reason. Rather you can use upright with a scaling factor if a enlargement is required.

Thanks! Magentic Manifestations (talk) 03:18, 27 April 2024 (UTC)

It was removed by a disruptive user despite earlier reverts by other editors as well. I am trying to take the article Chennai Super Kings to GA. The format is inline with similar club related featured articles from sports category (you can refer to the same!). Custom signature

Hi Vestrian24Bio. Would you please consider using regular text in your signature instead of the mathematical symbols? It makes it more difficult to copy your username and it's bad for accessibility. You can get a similar effect using fonts like Vestrian24Bio. Actually, using unusual fonts is bad for accessibility in general, but it would still be an improvement. Regards. Template:2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Group A

We should to restore the earlier format atleast until the end of the tournament, what was the reason for removal of runs scored, overs bowled and such attributes from the template? Cric editor (talk) 04:24, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

In the earlier format. the NRR is calculated each time when loading the page, which takes up memory to execute; specially for pages like 2024 T20WC which has 6 points tables. But, we could keep the earlier format until the end of the Group stage. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 04:35, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
Yes I guess we can settle with that till group stage, like it's done for all other tournaments. Cric editor (talk) 04:37, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
Also in the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup qualification, There are 5 "Final standings (Sub-regional qualifier)" and 5 "Final standings (Regional final)"; It's better to avoid similar headings in a same page as it would result in the anchors being misdirected. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 04:39, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
Also, we don't need the final standings here; only points table is enough. ( see 2023 Cricket World Cup qualification) Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 05:41, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

Edit at Smriti Mandhana

You reverted my edit on Smriti Mandhana by stating it was non-constructive. I want to clarify that I only removed one of the two citations used in the lead for the pronunciation of her name, as both citations serve the same purpose and are redundant. I used the same video as the previous citation but from the original upload on the channel of Asian Paints. Therefore, I don't understand why you consider my edit unconstructive. Please clarify. I am writing this to avoid edit war on the Smriti Mandhana page. Thanks. VK wiki100 06:34, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

The citation given is supposed to state how to pronounce the name like this previous one. But, the one you added is "Asian Paints Presents Where The Heart Is Season 4 Episode 02 featuring Smriti Mandhana". How is that relevant? Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 07:20, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
I didn't add it; it was already there. I just pointed it to the original upload. It is the same as the previous second citation, and Smriti herself pronounces her name in it. That's the reason why it is cited. I've removed the previous first citation because it had only 930 views, and the channel was not trustworthy. It still showed the same pronunciation as Smriti in the second citation, so it was redundant to include both. That's why I've removed the less trustworthy one. VK wiki100 08:01, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
When it comes to pronunciation, simple videos like these: [24][25][26] which only contains the pronunciation are better. Unlike the above 7 minute video which includes many other unrelated contents; these only have what's needed. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 13:39, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
I understand, but the issue lies in the uncertainty of the reliability of these videos. All three videos you provided have different pronunciations of her name. In this situation, it's best to use a primary source. If you could find a shorter and more to-the-point video of Smriti herself pronouncing her name, that would be very helpful. Incorrect revert done by Vestrian24Bio

@Vestrian24Bio : About your revert ---> "Reverting edit(s) by IndoPakAfgh (talk) to rev. 1229017290 by Pkr206: Non-constructive edit (UV 0.1.5)". on https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template%3A2024_ICC_Men%27s_T20_World_Cup_Group_C&oldid=prev&diff=1229033107

How my edit was a "Non-constructive edit"?

as per /2024_ICC_Men%27s_T20_World_Cup#Super_8, Afghanistan has already qualified to Super 8, which means other three teams are eliminated.

Either you have been Non-constructive or Super 8 section is incorrect. IndoPakAfgh (talk) 14:48, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Q, E is placed only when the qualification isn't complete for the group with the table text saying "Advance to Super 8". But, now that the Qualification in Group C is over it's not needed anymore; instead the table text says: "Advanced to Super 8" stating that both   West Indies and   Afghanistan have qualified for Super 8 and there's no need for the Q, E text anymore. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 14:53, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
Yeah but Afghanistan is still listed as "Q", and the eliminated teams are listed as "E". Your revert makes it inconsistent @Vestrian24Bio.
As the group stages are still ongoing, we should stick to consistency between the groups, and use Q/E everywhere. It's confusing to use them for some groups and skip them for others.
Also, this should be discussed in the talk page not on user talk. Soni (talk) 16:34, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
I agree this should be discussed in the talk page; I just continued what started by @IndoPakAfgh here. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 16:46, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Unfounded justification for reverting edit

If you didn't like the edit, it doesn't mean it's not constructive. I just resized the poster image in ""Please Please Please"" which is unnecessarily large in the article. How can this be a non-constructive edit? Should have put "I prefer the large image" in the reason for reverting. Damitinha (talk) 07:10, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

Thumbnails aren't supposed to have a size limit per MOS, because thumb file display size is user preferred. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 07:12, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
See MOS:IMGSIZE Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 07:13, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
And why is doing something to improve the layout and visualization of the article a non-constructive edit? From what I saw here on your talk page you use the term "non-constructive editing" incorrectly Damitinha (talk) 07:14, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
Read MOS:IMGSIZE Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 07:15, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
I may have been hasty, but at least justify correctly when reverting an edit, simply using "non-constructive edit" does not justify or explain anything. Damitinha (talk) 07:23, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
I'm sorry about that; I usually leave a talk page message after reverting, missed this time. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 07:31, 17 June 2024 (UTC)

The following editors all scored more than 400 points in Round 3:

The full scores for round 3 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 28 featured articles, 38 featured lists, 240 good articles, 92 in the news credits, and at least 285 did you know credits. They have conducted 279 featured article reviews, as well as 492 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 22 articles to featured topics and good topics.

Hi, there is a move discussion at Talk:Public Sector Undertakings in India which is receiving less participation and is likely to be closed without a clear consensus. Your GA nomination of 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup final

The article 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup final you nominated as a good article has failed  ; see Talk:2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup final for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Magentic Manifestations -- Magentic Manifestations (talk) 13:40, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

@Vestrian24Bio Hi! I had taken this as a review and provided comprehensive comments on it. If you require any clarification or want to engage in a discussion, ping me as required. With the required modifications and some time for stability, the article might be good to go. As a suggestion, I can still see a lot of edits on this happening, if there are non-constructive, you should probably seek a page protection again as it might hamper your efforts to take it to a GA. All the best! Thanks! Magentic Manifestations (talk) 08:36, 3 July 2024 (UTC)

About your DCWC submisison

Hey Vestrian24Bio! This is about your (potential) submission 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup final. For points tracking purposes, please make sure you're submitting articles under a single country, even if they qualify under more than one. The same applies for the reviews request sidebar, where horizontal space is a rapidly diminishing commodity and too many flags can be distracting. Let me know if you have any questions! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 23:06, 1 July 2024 (UTC)

At first, I didn't even know this article qualified for DCWC, until someone listed it on Eligible reviews; I just copied what was there, that's all. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 11:17, 3 July 2024 (UTC)

Happy First Edit Day!

July 2024

Hi Vestrian24Bio! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of an article several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Trailblazer101 (talk) 18:31, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

JSON coding

Hi! I have a JSON coding from XTools which is supposed to generate a table; Is there any possible way to add the coding to wikitext. I currently have the coding here. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 15:04, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

You can write a lua module (if this is only for you, put it in <module name> sub spage of Module:Sandbox/Vestrian24Bio/). Use a Sribunto JSON function to get the data from JSON into a Lua table (mw.loadJsonData(), mw.text.jsonDecode()). Use the html library functions to create an html table from the Lua table.

A modified module here; but same error message... Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 16:22, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
@Trappist the monk after your change; the JSON you added appears; but, how do I add a custom JSON do I have to change it in the module directly??? Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 18:14, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
That is why I added the comment: IRL this could be replaced or the real JSON could be kept in this module's doc page. Were it me, I would put the JSON in the ~/doc page or perhaps a subpage of the module (with nothing else) and then have the module fetch the content of the your chosen page. Of course, the simpler way is to just put your 'real' JSON in the module in place of the test JSON.
Trappist the monk (talk) 18:23, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
Thanks! Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 18:25, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
One other possibility, you might could leave the JSON where it is and wrap it with the invoke so that the JSON is the first positional parameter:
{{#invoke:Sandbox/Vestrian24Bio/JSON table 2|jsonToHtmlTable|<JSON goes here>|}} – the extra trailing pipe may not be needed; I didn't test for that condition
Then change the module to fetch jsonTable from the frame:
local jsonTable = mw.text.jsonDecode (frame.args[1]);
Trappist the monk (talk) 18:38, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
tried now; but gives an error Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 18:41, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
Because frame is out of scope there. If we are going to continue this conversation it would probably be better to have it on your talk page.
Trappist the monk (talk) 18:47, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

I've moved the discussion to my talk page now. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 18:50, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

2027 CWC Qualifier

Hey there! You didn't mention why the pages 2027 Cricket World Cup Qualifier and 2027 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Play-off were moved to a redirect page again? Thanks! Sneshik (talk) 11:09, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

There too far events and to avoid them being just stubs they can be developed in draftspace. i.e: Draft:2027 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 11:12, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
Maybe we can just mark it as a stub page with a stub template. The reason why I created these articles is because there were a lot of redirects when I wanted to know more about 2027 CWC qualification process. I think stub pages are better than redirects. What do you think? Sneshik (talk) 11:23, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
It's just WP:TOOSOON, also there was an afd for this qualifier - Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2026 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 11:28, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:2027 Cricket World Cup stadiums indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 16:56, 9 August 2024 (UTC)

Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Women's Premier League (cricket) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women's Premier League (cricket) during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. • Just to say, this isn't specifically targeted at you or WikiProject WPL. I think merging all the cricket tournament WikiProjects into main cricket project is good idea, and appreciate that you created the WPL because those ones existed, which seemed reasonable at the time. It's been on my to-do list for a few years to try and merge them all back in, because some other editors on some of the other WikiProjects have been a pain on cricket articles in the past, and so having it centralised should make things better. Someone showed me the procedure for the merge a month or two ago, which is why I'm suggesting it now. Joseph2302 (talk) 17:10, 13 August 2024 (UTC)

August 2024

Your recent editing history at 2027 Cricket World Cup shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Accusations of vandalism

In this edit, Sxnxtxn added what appear to be two Indic-script versions of "2023 Asia Cup" to the article 2023 Asia Cup. They did so without an edit summary: poor practice, but very common practice. If the addition is what I think, then it contravenes WP:NOINDICSCRIPT. In your reversion of the edit you call it vandalism. This surprises me, because it doesn't look like my idea of vandalism. But of course my idea of vandalism is of little importance. What matters is Wikipedia's idea of vandalism. Please read that page, carefully.

Please do not accuse other editors of vandalism when what they've done isn't defined by Wikipedia as vandalism.

If I seem to have misunderstood something, please feel free to correct me. -- Hoary (talk) 02:47, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

Removal of name of captains in my previous edit

Hello. I just noticed that you have reverted my edit of the name of the captains of the teams that I had included in the page International cricket in 2024–25. You mentioned that this was a new format.

I would just like to know when this new format was introduced, and why has it not been used in pages like International cricket in 2024, where the names of the captains are still included.

Thank you. PEditorS10 (talk) 03:27, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

@PEditorS10 The new format was introduced for International cricket in 2024–25 just a few months ago as discussed at Talk:International cricket in 2024; Further implementation of the format depends on how it goes through. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 03:31, 18 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello, Vestrian24Bio,

We have a limited number of editors who participate in AFD deletion discussions and some of them spend a great deal of time for each nomination looking for sources. I'd recommend limiting yourself to 5 nominations a day. This is not policy, of course, this is just the perspective of an admin who spends a lot of time each day reviewing AFD discussions. Thank you for considering this request. Liz Read! Talk! 01:43, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

DCWC closing update

The 2024 Developing Countries WikiContest has come to a close! After a thrilling finish to the event with a slew of submissions on the final day, we have our winners. With 608 points,     Thebiguglyalien (submissions) comes in third with his series of Kiribati and Botswanan submissions;     BeanieFan11 (submissions) flies into second place at the last second with 771 points after a string of good articles about sportspersons; and after leading for much of contest's three months,     Generalissima (submissions) finishes with a whopping 798 points to take home the Gold Belt Buckle. Congratulations to our winners!

In addition to his spot in the top three,   BeanieFan11 (submissions) also wins the special awards for submitting under the most countries (44 countries) and for writing the most articles about women (15 Did you know? nominations)!   Magentic Manifestations (submissions), after making 16 submissions under the Indian flag—15 of them good articles—receives the awards for most submissions for a single country and most featured or good articles promoted. For their submission of one FAC review, five FLC reviews, and 20 GAN reviews, Simongraham (submissions) wins for most article reviews.

The results of the contest have far exceeded any expectations the coordinators had for it at the beginning: among the submissions to the event were 3 FAs, 10 FLs, 88 GAs, dozens of article reviews of every kind, and more Did you know? submissions than we can count! Regardless of your level of participation, every contestant can be proud to have contributed towards a major step in countering the systemic bias on Wikipedia. Every year, millions of readers and editors around the globe use Wikipedia to educate themselves and communicate with others about parts of the world that often receive less attention than they deserve. Thank you for participating with us in the contest and contributing to this effort. The DCWC will return next year and we look forward to seeing you contribute again! However, before that...

We need your feedback! Join the conversation on the talk page to discuss your reflections on the contest (even if you didn't participate!) and help us make it better.

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the contest talk page or ask one of the coordinators: Ixtal (talk · contribs), sawyer777 (talk · contribs), or TechnoSquirrel69 (talk · contribs). Administrator Elections: Voting phase

Administrator Elections | Voting phase

The voting phase of the October 2024 administrator elections has started and continues until 23:59 31st October 2024 UTC. You can participate in the voting phase at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Voting phase.

As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:

  • October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • November 1–? - Scrutineering phase

In the voting phase, the candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone who qualifies for a vote will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.

Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").

Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

WikiCup 2024 November newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup has come to an end, with the final round being a very tight race. Our new champion is   AirshipJungleman29 (submissions), who scored 2,283 points mainly through 3 high-multiplier FAs and 3 GAs on military history topics. By a 1% margin, Airship beat out last year's champion,   BeanieFan11 (submissions), who scored second with 2,264 points, mainly from an impressive 58 GAs about athletes. In third place,   Generalissima (submissions) scored 1,528 points, primarily from two FAs on U.S. Librarians of Congress and 20 GAs about various historical topics. Our other finalists are:   Sammi Brie (submissions) with 879 points,   Hey man im josh (submissions) with 533 points,   BennyOnTheLoose (submissions) with 432 points,   Arconning (submissions) with 244 points, and   AryKun (submissions) with 15 points. Congratulations to our finalists and all who participated!

The final round was very productive, and contestants had 7 FAs, 9 FLs, 94 GAs, 73 FAC reviews, and 79 GAN reviews and peer reviews. Altogether, Wikipedia has benefited greatly from the activities of WikiCup competitors all through the contest. Well done everyone!

All those who reached the final will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or in the event of a tie, to the overall leader in this field.

Next year's competition will begin on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to see you all in the 2025 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement!

Categories

Hello, Vestrian24Bio,

Please do not create categories until there are articles or other categories to be put in them. We don't keep empty categories and our way of tracking them is to tag them CSD C1. Then, there are 7 days that they sit in Category:Empty categories awaiting deletion. If they are still empty after 7 days, they are deleted. If they contain even one article, then the tag is removed. But please do not create many empty categories before there is an active use for them.

It looks like you are trying to start a WikiProject or Task Force all on your own. It would be a mistake to create dozens of empty categories before any articles have been assessed and tagged as being part of your project. Please do not put the cart before the horse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 08:49, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

We have already been discussing about it in the WikiProject's talk page for a few months now and there's a consensus to do so. Also, I thought those categories might be deleted ASAP because it was a speedy deletion tag; thanks for the clarification. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 08:54, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

Unusual redirect wiped out membership list; new page with no attribution

This edit turned a WikiProject membership list into a redirect to a new page. This appears to have wiped out the good-faith addition of these members to the previous list. You created the new page without apparent attribution of its contents to wherever you got them. Is there a discussion that led to these unusual edits? – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:17, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

@Jonesey95 The discussion took place at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cricket#Merge WikiProjects back into this project. I gave an edit summary at the parent page. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 02:21, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the link. I did not see an explanation for the wiping out of the member list instead of migrating it, and I did not see an attribution for the contents of the new task force page. What am I missing?
Also, what is your plan for the history of talk pages like this WikiProject talk page? – Jonesey95 (talk) 02:31, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
Perhaps they could be moved into Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cricket/Asia cricket task force/Archive something? Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 03:12, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
That is better than simply wiping out the pages and replacing them with redirects. I suggest that you return to the original discussion and ask for help. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:09, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
